This is my go-to for my car, my truck, and my class b camper van. I've never had to wait more than a few minutes. Last Saturday, they had a customer appreciation day with free food and drink, free ice cream. I didn't even have to wait 5 minutes then, and it was busy! They're always nice. Get a coupon from online and it's under $100, so a good deal. Now, they will try to upsell you an air filter, just check it before. It's an upsell, but they're not hard nosed about it. Came for an oil change 4/28, don't usually leave these reviews, but it was rough and has gotten worse. Moved, so needed a new oil change spot. Made a reservation online and arrived a few minutes before the scheduled time. Waited for a while in the lobby before another customer finally told me I needed to bring the car around back. Waited around ten minutes in the back until an employee finally came back to address myself and another customer waiting. He didn't seem happy to be there, which was apparent from how much he told me. He also mentioned he didn't know about my reservation because he doesn't use the computer and made me fill out the forms with him. After waiting well past my scheduled service time, he took my key and I awkwardly walked through the shop to the lobby. The service seemed quick enough until another gentleman walked up with my engine air filter and went through the upcharge list. Not a great service experience, but maybe they were having a bad day, drove home and moved on. Here's where I got pissed. I bought an engine air filter and when I went to replace it, I found they had not reconnected the hose after they removed it the filter without my permission. The topping on the cake in now three months later needed to add oil because the level was low. I've been getting oil changes 1-2 times a year for ten years. This is the first time I've ever needed to add oil into my car. Add it's not because of a leak. My previous place would show me the dipstick after service. Requested replacement of the rear wiper blade, which they agreed to, but promptly forgot. Side view mirrors looked like they had been wiped with a greasy rag. I couldn't see out of them and had to stop at a gas station to clean them. Worst of all, filthy black grime was smeared on the cream colored passenger seat from someone's dirty pants when they checked the cabin air filter. I pointed it out to the guy at the desk. He halfheartedly cleaned it with upholstery cleaner. No apology. I will get oil changes somewhere else in the future. read more

I took my wife's VW Jetta here for a simple oil change. The oil change went fine, but 11 days later my wife was driving down the highway and heard some big scratching/dragging sound. It was the splash guard underneath the engine. I thought that was odd how it came off, so I jacked up the car and noticed ALL SEVEN of the screws were missing. Seven! As we've had this car serviced at the dealership before here and then we come here only for 11 days later the splash guard fell off it tells me they didn't put the screws back. If they can't put simple T-25 screws back into a splash guard, think of what else they're missing. The splash guard being dragged on the ground also broke off two of the spots where screws would go in as well. read more

I had an oil and filter change for the first time at Grease Monkey on 8th st. I was immediately greeted at the door and was very friendly. They performed a great inspection of the car and made recommendations. They looked like a pit crew at a race as there were several of them checking the car, checking tire pressure and doing the oil change. The service was very quick and effecient and a fair price. Nice enough, but after changing the oil, they failed to put my oil filter cover back on. I usually change my own oil and I know the cover was in place when I took it in. After I had left town, I find the cover is missing. There is no excuse for this incomplete, shoddy, and lazy work. They apparently just rushed through the job and didn't want to take time to put the cover back on. Now I have to try and buy one at the dealer which I'm sure won't be cheap. I cannot recommend this Grease Monkey for oil changes unless you don't mind them not completing the job. read more

I was desperate for an oil change and was able to get right in at Grease Monkey. Max and Robert were the ones that I interacted with and they were extremely helpful and kind. Not only did they just change my oil like I came in for, they cleaned my windows, vacuumed my floors, topped off my windshield fluid, and suggested I replace my air filter. Had them do their minimum oil change because of the convenience in the winter, cost me $37. Geeze they tried to rip me off, not only do they recommend I change the oil again in 3,000 miles (Ford recommends 7,500 miles), they said my truck needed all these items replaced (all which they can perform-what a coincidence): Power steering fluid flush, Radiator coolant replacement, Automatic transmission fluid change, Fuel filter replacement. I changed the oil again myself today to discover they used an inferior, super small half size-rip off size-L4670 oil filter, even took a pic comparing the two. My v-6 4.0L Ranger pickup takes a size 8 (full size oil filter). Luckily enough for me, I took automotive repair classes in both high school and Pikes Peak Community College. I maintain my truck and those items have been serviced within the manufacturer's recommendations. I feel sorry for the sheepeople who they take advantage of and destroy the planet through waste for maximum profit. We can do so much better as a species that's why I support the equal money foundation www.EqualMoney.org and the basic living grant www.BasicIncome.me so we can All live in honesty, peaceful, dignified and comfortable life. read more

Wow. I have been to many places for an oil change and they usually take quite a while to get the job done, but they were done in about 10-15 minutes. They are also honest. I need a quick oil change, I had been here in the past and received good service. Talk about being assaulted with high pressure sales. This place would have no problem selling you $300 worth or work, that you don't really need. Every filter they show you they want to change, let me give you a heads up. You filter should be dirty, that is it's job. They will tell you your battery and wiper blades are bad, no matter what. They will want to change multiple fluids in your car. They are pretty quick, I will give them that. However skip the high pressure tactics if you have a mechanic you trust. read more

CONSUMER ALERT regarding Grease Monkey on 8th St in Colorado Springs. Honest reviews are a valuable tool for consumers to communicate our experiences in order that we can choose more wisely with our hard-earned dollars. So please be advised of my story when you make your consumer choices: When it comes to mechanics, I've encountered enough "Brandon's" to know better, but because I was traveling through the state of CO enroute back to CA, I was vulnerable to his counsel. I had used this same garage for years as a former resident of Colorado Springs. They'd always been superb so I took a shot at them. Naturally new management and workers brings new experiences. So along comes Brandon -- he was so "nice" and "seemed" so "honest" -- and I didn't want to cause damage to my rack & pinion steering as I was told I would with my power steering fluid holding an excess, "unsafe level". He even showed me on the stick where my power steering fluid currently read and where it needed to be. He then informed me, and I foolishly believed him, that there was no way to reduce it, but through a complete power steering flush. And I fell for that? Yes, I did. So foolish me! But foolish you if you decide to give them your money -- or your trust -- as I did. In fairness to the store manager -- and the district manager later -- after the "lies" were exposed, the "extra" service was not charged for -- but I did pay what seemed an inflated price for the oil change and the inconvenience. No offer so much as a complimentary car wash at their facility to remove all the power steering fluid splattered all over the front of my car. So I was still left with an hour less of my time, an unnecessary greasy mess on me and my car, and the disheartened experience of the DELIBERATE misleading b.s. story. Naturally I checked my levels before leaving their parking lot. Imagine the disgust when the power steering fluid was even higher than before it was serviced. So they had to come out with their "syphoning" tool to remove some of the excess -- you know, the devise that did not exist for removing excess fluid in the power steering system?!? Meanwhile, I have a wiper blade on my rear window with rubber literally dangling with obvious need for replacement. That was supposed to be included in their already inflated "systems check." Yet it was overlooked by all the boys buzzing about their garage -- meanwhile they flush my power steering system?! Makes one wonder about all those vulnerable, trusting tourists passing through the populated Pikes Peak region!! Oh, let me not forget, when I showed the solar-rotted wiper blade to Brandon after services were completed, he informed me that they simply ask customers if there is a problem with the wiper blades, and if not, they leave them as is. He said just "because the rubber is coming loose doesn't mean it's not working." Yes, he really said that!!! Oh, and as I was leaving, he followed me out with another customer's keys, informing me that I'd left mine behind. The latter not an alarming action as we all know to err is human. But the intentional deception? You judge for yourself if you want to give them your money. They will most certainly not get another penny from me and as many people as I can reach! read more

I want to say thank you to Shawn, the manager, and the staff at Grease Monkey #514 for taking such great care of my wife and three children when she experienced an automobile emergency during the severe snow storm on Sunday afternoon (1/31/16). NOT REALLY! My wife's car broke down and was pushed by Colorado Springs police into the Grease Monkey parking lot. After interrupting the staff-in-bay smoke break, Shawn quickly assessed my wife's car whereby, he informed her that he would not assist her. He told her that she and her three children would immediately have to leave as it was almost closing time and he was going to leave to pick up his own child. Shawn was unwilling to allow my wife time to collect herself and/or make any arrangements for transportation or lodging. Not only did he send my wife and three children walking in the heavy snow storm without arrangements, he even went so far as to threatened her that if the car was there very long tonight he would have it towed. As an employee for Grease Monkey in Denver #702, we treat all customers with respect, courtesy and humanity, even our fellow employee's family. I've used this business for many years, but beginning around 2012-2013, they became desperate by lying frequently about what people's cars "need". Today the lies were that instead of my saying I wanted their "Full Service", that I said I wanted "The same as last time", which I would not have said, partially because I knew what I wanted, and partially because I have no idea what they did "last time". It was only revealed to me at the cash register that they had done things I did not want, and the cashier's attitude was "Oh, too bad" and charged my credit card approx double what I'd expected to pay. The second lie was about the car wash. He had this sad, poor Grease Monkey attitude that they had been losing so much money on their car wash. (And this is my problem?). They have always given 10 min., and today he said it was only 5 min., and gave me a token that gave me 4 min. and 43 sec. At the end, I went back in and said they should just tell the truth. If it's 4.75 min., don't say it's 5. Bottom line, two lies in 20 min. is two too many. read more
