I wanted a standard maintenance, oil change and lube, performed on my vehicle. They schedule first come, first served. I arrived, got my name on the list, and waited my turn. When they were ready, In went my car. They found an issue with my air filter, showed it to me, and had one on hand to replace it . Driving through from out of state. Woke up to a puddle of oil. The guys there figured out the issue and had us on the road in less than 20 minutes! There were professional, courteous, and so helpful! We had a gift-certificate for an oil-change at Grease Monkey (value: $55.99), so we took our vehicle in for that. As our vehicle is being worked on, we're informed that our vehicle needs a transmission flush. Hmmm........ we only needed an oil change, but okay. We agree, and get the transmission flush done (cost: $209.99). My husband leaves Grease Monkey and gets a call (withing minutes of leaving Grease Monkey) from them informing us that our fuel line has a leak!!! Are you kidding me???!!! Any of the mechanics who just did the oil change AND the transmission flush couldn't tell my husband that while being there? You wait til we are driving to call us & tell us that. What was supposed to be just an oil change has cost us a transmission flush and now we gotta repair the leak in the fuel line. My fuel line was fine, I drove it there. I feel like I just got F#*! over. I cant prove that they caused the leak in my fuel line, but I will never do business with them again. Side-note, took my vehicle to another mechanic in Laramie to repair the fuel-line leak, and that is gonna cost $900. If I could give a zero-star rating, I would, and I want this review posted, so I gotta rate this business 1-star read more

This place is amazing the people here were genuine and honest. they didn't try to up charge for things that weren't needed. The service was incredible. They checked with me on everything every step of the way. They didn't just slap the sticker for when to come back it was placed perfectly in the top corner. Places like this are why mechanics/technicians as a whole are not trusted by the public. My daughter lives in Laramie and attends UW. She has been a few times for routing oil changes with no problems. A couple of weeks ago she went in for an oil change and she was told her front brakes and rotors needed to be replaced as they "were almost metal on metal". She was given a quote of$655.65 for rotors and pads on the front of a 2009 Buick Lucerne. This was a job I had done for her just a few years prior. Having worked professionally as a technician for a dealership, I understand the markup of parts and the cost of labor, but this seemed a little high and I was pessimistic about her brakes being worn that much in the short time since I last replaced them. I asked her to come to Colorado Springs as soon as she had time off from work and I would look at them. Working a part time job in Laramie and attending college meant she couldn't afford the $655 Grease Monkey wanted. For 2 weeks she stressed about driving her car, worrying she would have no brakes and get into a crash. She drove only to work and back, 2 miles away. She stressed about driving all the way to Colorado Springs with no brakes because the person she spoke to at Grease Monkey told her "He couldn't guarantee how long they would last, she needed to have them changed as soon as possible". She arrived at our home and I had already ordered parts. OEM quality pads and rotors at a cost of $180.14 for the entire set, as opposed to 529.69 she was quoted for parts. That's quite a markup... almost 3 times. I removed the front tires/wheels to find brakes in excellent condition and rotors with no wear or grooves. I measured the pads and rotors with a caliper and compared against Buick factory specs for new parts. She had 57% of her pads remaining on one side, 55% of her pads remaining on the other, the driver's side rotor was exactly the same as OEM specification (1.80") and the passenger side had worn 0.05" and measured 1.75". I would avoid this place at all cost and if you have no other choice, ask for old parts or ask to watch repairs being made. Mechanics/technicians have a long history of being viewed as crooks who take advantage, especially of females, and this is why. This is poor business, and fraudulent. It borders on theft. I fought that image for years as a technician myself. They do an OK job of oil changes, but for any mechanical repairs, find a reputable shop with honest technicians. read more

The people were friendly.....but.....they only filled to the low mark on the dipstick with an oil change. This after they were told that the 5.3L requires a bit more than the 8 quarts they entered at the counter. Had to add more oil at home. WORST thing is there are E type 10 ply rated truck tires on the vehicle. Inflated to 68 lbs when I drove in. Got home and they had DEFLATED all tires to 32 lbs. Never said a word to me....just let roughly 35 lbs of air out of my tires....apparently thinking that 32 lbs is what everything is supposed to be. If they don't know the difference between the ratings of tires....what else are they going to screw up? Find another place to have your work done.... read more

I was on my way from Saint Louis, Missouri to Portland, Oregon when the rental van I was driving decided to start lighting up like a Christmas tree. Imagine the horror on my face when I realize its a low oil pressure light and we're toting 3000 pounds of clothing up a mountain. We were about 25 miles away from Grease Monkey and I was just praying to the good Lord above that it wasn't an oil leak (rental place said they just replaced the oil prior to us leaving). When we pulled up, Tim and David made sure we knew that they were going to help us regardless of what the issue was. Turns out the bozo who did the oil change tightened it entirely too tight and snapped the oil filter to us and so-unbeknownst to us- we left a nice 12qt oil trail for the last 1500 miles and were riding around with absolutely NO oil in the van. Thank goodness for wholesome and caring places like this because we got an oil change and a new oil filter all for less than $100. The oil change took all of 10 minutes and the lights were all off when we left. I promise they won't leave you disappointed and will update you every step of the way. read more

Trust me when I say do not go anywhere near this place. I came in early to get a quote for simply putting my winter wheels on. First gentleman was very nice and gave me the price of $44.99. Then after getting my wheels and coming in, I was not even finished taking the wheels out before another tech stopped me and said they can't guarantee their work on aftermarket wheels. He also said that if they get 3 out of the 4 wheels on and they can't get the 4th one on, there is no refund. I told him that they would go on just fine as it was not the first time and then he said that it was gonna be a while so he couldn't say for sure if they would be done by the end of the day, I came in at noon. Just bring your car to the Ford dealership up the street where they can guarantee their work and it's only $19.95. read more

I've taken my car to Grease Monkey in Laramie to get an oil change once. It cost twice as much than any other oil change I've ever gotten. But this is not what this review is about. This is about the automatic car wash that is attached to the Grease Monkey. I've always taken my car through that wash after hours, and I have never had any issues. However, last night, right as the dryer was coming back over my car, indicating the whole wash process was over, everything just shut off. The dryer, the lights, the little stop light that tells you to go and stop. Now, I grew up watching shows like "1000 Ways to Die" and "Untold Stories of the ER", and what I learned from these shows is that you should not exit your vehicle in an automatic car wash. There is even an episode of "Criminal Minds" where a couple is murdered in their car during the car wash. With that at the forefront of my mind, I went in to a full blown panic attack. Heart racing, heavy breathing, and tears streaming. There was a sign with a phone number to call after hours if you have "problems, suggestions, or concerns" about the car wash. Of course they didn't answer, and their voicemail box was full. I called the non-emergent police line, and they transferred me to someone who works at Grease Monkey. They didn't answer but I was able to leave a voicemail. No one has called me back. Great customer service. After 30 minutes I was able to calm down a bit. One of my friends drove up to the car wash to see if she could help me from the outside. No luck. But she encouraged me to get out of my car and show her the doors of the car wash. The back door, the one that you can't actually see from the inside of your vehicle because it's so dark in there, had the buttons to open and close the back garage door. Excellent placement. Anyway, I will never go to Grease Monkey for a car wash, let alone an oil change. read more

This seems to be an older car wash facility. I chose the $10 wash. It is a very short trip but is very slow. It takes just under 10 minutes for just the wash -- no drying so in the cold season go on a sunny day . If there is a line, consider that each car takes 10 minutes. I won't go again to this facility. read more

This was a terrible place of business. They are overpriced and they have no idea what they are doing. We were told that what needed to be done to fix our brakes was quick and easy. We get a call later that while trying to fix it they blew out our back breaks causing fluid to leak everywhere. They then informed us that they need to order a new part which would be an extra $60 on top of the $670 that we were already having to pay. It is outrageous! The breaks blowing out happened under their watch and care but we had to pay for it. So unprofessional. I would recommend never going here. read more

Expensive and somewhat dishonest. Took Chrysler (50,000 miles) for oil change. Without asking, they used synthetic oil instead of conventional oil -- at about 3 times the price of the conventional oil! They then said the brakes were bad -- estimated repair cost over $900!!!! Traveling through and needed an oil change. Stopped here since Grease Monkey is a familiar name to me. I pull up to a bay and immediately see four people. One in the pit, two in the bay, another kid who wanders off somewhere. I'm waiting to see if someone will point me to a bay and guide me so I don't happen to kill anyone in the pit. No one comes. No one even motions to us, tells us they'll be right with me, nothing. Just standing, staring, wiping their hands. I'm pulling out cause I'm on a time budget heading to Irma to provide relief and the fourth kid comes out with a clipboard. Instead of waving or flagging me down, he holds his hands out like "what the hell!". I'm in agreement. What the hell kind of service station doesn't know the basics of customer service and acknowledging the customer so that you know they see you? What kind of oil changing place doesn't come out and say "Hi there, what can I do for you?" I don't know if this place is just run by clueless kids or what, but three empty bays and customers leaving the premises because you can't get an employee to even acknowledge you're there, that's a sign of poor policies and procedures. I'm not even sure the fourth kid was an employee because he wasn't in uniform but if he's not, why the hell is he wiping oil off his hands and standing in the bay? I stopped in 01/31/2020 to have the tire pressure checked. I explained that the tire pressure sensor failure light had come on and wanted to be sure my tires were all right before I continued my trip. They not only checked the tires, but explained what that light meant, why it was malfunctioning and where I should go to get it fixed. I have been a customer of this Grease Monkey for years and continue to be impressed by their professionalism and customer service. Being a woman I used to be nervous about the prospect of getting my car serviced. But at Grease Monkey they treat me with respect and explain things in a way which is not at all intimidating, and the lobby and customer bathroom are really clean! This week I went in for my usual oil change and during the inspection they found my brakes needing repair. I was not sure if Grease Monkey was where I wanted to get this work done so I held off to look around. I checked a few other places and found Grease Monkey pricing to be the best by quite a bit. Local Dealerships wanted to charge almost twice as much. So I called up Grease Monkey to make an appointment to get my brakes done which I guess you do not even need an appointment. Even better they now do free pickup and delivery and came and got my car and did the brake job and returned it all before lunch. Wow read more

They mislead me about my brake material level during their "free brake inspection" promo. I've gone to this place for my past 4 oil changes, never again. This last time, they had a free brake inspection with a service advertised on their marquee. I asked for them to check the brakes fully knowing that I would do them myself if they were worn. When the guy came out to talk to me, my front brakes were 100% but my rears were at 20%. He said it was a good idea for me to get them done and that it was a safety concern. I declined and when I got the vehicle home to check, I took the brake pads off. There was well over half of the braking material left on every pad in the rear. Either a tech messed up or they may be using their free brake inspection promo to scare people. Also every time I went, they wiped every window with a greasy towel (even the inside of the windshield) so you have to go back over their work. read more

The manager was not friendly or helpful whatsoever. The mechanics in the shop were more helpful and friendly than the manager. Along with this, it was very pricey. I didn't have any work done on my vehicle and was still charged nearly $100 for labor. I know of much better shops around Laramie that I will be going to from now on. read more

****UPDATE 12.11.2014***** After my last experience, I was a bit skeptical of how things would progress. I must say that I am pleasantly surprised at how Greasemonkey handled the whole situation. I called and spoke with Eric C. who was very polite and understanding of the situation. He informed me that the air filter thing is standard practice as outlined by Greasemonkey corporate and that customer satisfaction is their top priority. All in all, he was very professional and I am confident that Greasemonkey in Laramie has excellent management. Although I do not necessarily agree with all of Greasemonkey's standard practices and procedures, there is no disputing that this Greasemonkey is truly committed to customer service. They really care about their reputation and will not hesitate to go the extra mile and make sure that each customer has a good experience and leaves satisfied. On an unrelated note, it is worth mentioning that they have the fanciest automatic car wash in Laramie. Actually the fanciest I have seen anywhere. It has more options and more hi-tech features than any other car wash, including the Lazer Wash, the one on Reynolds, or the one in the Mobil Station (the worst in my opinion). The Greasemonkey wash might cost a buck more but it's really fun to watch the moving parts clean your car. read more

We recently took our vehicle to Grease Monkey for a simple oil change. This vehicle had been to the dealer every 3 months by the previous owner and the staff at Grease Monkey were very surprised at how great the car looked and it's condition. No additional services were necessary or pushed upon us. However, due to a mistake by their staff, one piece was not replaced correctly, which lead to a complete engine blow. Luckily (and much to my surprise) the staff realized what happened and owned up to their mistake. Grease Monkey covered the replacement engine, the labor, and a rental car for the one month of repairs. Considering the situation, they handled it very well and I appreciate their professionalism. However, we will not be taking any vehicles back because I would like to keep my cars running, and not have an engine blow over some small rookie mistake! read more

I originally planned to get my brakes serviced at the dealership but after seeing how much they quoted me, there was no way I was going to do it through a dealership. I visited this Grease Monkey location for my first time and was so happy to see a WAY lower price quoted for my brakes. I went to the grease monkey car wash today, as I have so many times before. I always buy the ultimate wash to get the bug guts and dirt film off the car. After one wash, the car still looked dirty-massive water spots, bug guts and streaks on the hood from the rain and dirt. I went in to the lobby and asked for another wash, after waiting around for more than 5 minutes they gave me a code to re-wash the car. I went through the second stall this time and the same thing happened-it was as if I hadn't even gone through a second time-$15 bucks down the literal drain. I have gone to grease Monkey for other services and am always asked to purchase more than just the oil change. The last time I went in they gave me a lecture about flushing the coolant, which I had done only a few weeks before. There are only 2 employees, one of which is the owner and the other who gave me the coupon for the second wash (big hole ear piecings) that are nice and have good customer service. The others always treat me like I know nothing and need to be lectured. Today's car wash was the last straw, I will not be returning to Grease Monkey. read more

I went for an oil change and was constantly pestered from the time I pulled up. I know they wanted the best for my car, but I wish they would have stopped trying to upsell me after I declined. When I was waiting inside, they came in to tell me what else was "wrong" with my car. Coming from a car family, I had checked my air filter for the cab as well as the engine one and both were fine, not ripped or anything, just somewhat dirty from doing their job. They came in and showed me my engine air filter thing and it was shredded and dirtier than it was when I had last checked it the day before. There's no way the filter could have ripped that bad without human manpower. This is dangerous to drive with as it can cause a lot more damage to the car!! Long story short, I declined them to replace the filter and got my own from Walmart for much less than they wanted to charge me to replace it and did it myself. I wasn't about to confront them about it because I got the vibe that they didn't think my car knowledge was legit since I was a woman. Besides these problems, they were all nice men who wanted the best for me, but I am having a hard time believing my air filter ripped on its own in less than a day.... read more

From my previous review the owner responded: "We then reviewed our archived top side and under vehicle videos that we take on every car (which we are open to any customer viewing if they have questions). Your oil change and wiper installation were completed including all normal steps". The owner proved my point that there is something wrong with the service and accuracy of the employees and videos since I never received new wipers. So, again, it is suspicious that my car all of a sudden started to vear to the right and the bolts were missing. Your employees did NOT do a wiper installation! They only did an oil change. They wanted me to purchase new wipers and I told them no. They were supposed to give me a first time discount, but the guy "forgot" and wanted to give me a free carwash....yeah, I'm going to drive across several states to get a free carwash. So, your photos are very wrong or have been edited if they show that a wiper installation was done. In fact, I had them replaced after returning from my trip and doing the original review. Again, instead of trying to make a customer happy and feel that they were not taken, and have the higher standards you say you have, but then proceed to tell me that I must have hit a curb or something else RIGHT AFTER visiting your outlet is insulting and a lie. It's o.k. That's why there are customer reviews that others can look at and make their own decision on whether to visit a shop that doesn't strive for customer service and continues to tell a customer that they are causing an alignment problem again, RIGHT AFTER LEAVING THEIR place. read more

Over $90.00 for an oil change? Trying to upgrade a perfectly fine air filter? Grease Monkey is a rip off in all ways possible. I came here twice because I thought things would change. I'll never do that again. Cheyenne has oil change places for $35.00 and that's for synthetic blend oil. I could have paid for two synthetic oil changes and gas to and from Laramie twice for the price these guys screw you for. If at all possible try Laramie GM auto they work with you much better than these guys. Never going to another Grease Monkey again. Spread the word, Grease Monkey screws you up the wazoo! read more
