One thing I really appreciate about the zoo is that you don't necessarily see every animal every time you visit. At first that might seem disappointing, but I actually think it's a good thing. The animals have spaces where they can get away from the crowds and have some privacy instead of being on display 24/7. The animals all looked healthy and well cared for, and I love the way the zoo is designed around them. They even have tunnels and bridges that let the animals cross above and around visitors, so you sometimes get these really cool up-close views from unexpected places. I also learned from a 52 Firsts event that Philadelphia Zoo was the first zoo in the United States! So technically I'm standing in some serious zoo history. They also have a petting zoo with goats and sheep, and they were all incredibly chill and friendly. Definitely a fun area for kids. And it's not just animals. The zoo hosts all kinds of events and cultural celebrations throughout the year. I happened to stumble across the Odunde celebration during one visit and it was such a lovely surprise. There are always things happening in the less animal-focused areas, so there's usually something extra going on. The volunteer staff are also wonderful. You can tell a lot of them genuinely enjoy being there, and everyone I interacted with was so sweet and happy to help. Overall, I always have a great time here. It's a little expensive, but between the animals, the history, the events, and how well everything seems cared for, I think it's worth the visit.

There are also penguins. You can go in and out as many times as you want each day with a stamp. One note of advice: if you go during the summer months, try to go after 12 noon. However, if you're already planning to spend the day on the boardwalk or enjoy the other attractions, it's a worthwhile stop. One thing I really appreciated was that they allow re-entry. We were able to leave, grab something to eat, and come back in time to watch the shark feeding, which was a nice perk. Overall, it's a pleasant little aquarium, but I expected more.

Since then, this venue has gone downhill fast, and is currently at the bottom of the hill. Some of the animals are gone, the glass on many tanks and enclosures are very dirty, and the water in many tanks is cloudy. Tickets for general admission are $20 for adults and $14 for children. They had a 25% discount offer when we purchased them. The pricing structure for interactions is especially disappointing. Food and animal interaction tickets cost $2 each, and entry into certain exhibits requires two tickets per person. For a family of four, that's $16 for what amounts to a very brief, five-minute encounter. Staff members walk around with small animals, such as a rat, and offer children the chance to pet them -- for two tickets per child, or $8 for about two minutes. The touch tank was sparse: a few lobsters, one visible starfish, an anemone, and little else could be seen. The parakeet cage, which was a highlight last year, has also changed. Visitors are given a small stick with a bit of food at the end. Parakeets land briefly, and within about three minutes, we were ushered out. That short experience cost $16. Woodbridge Aquarium & Wildlife Center needs a significant overhaul. While indoor activities for young children can be limited in winter, I would recommend saving your money and looking elsewhere.

We walked right up to the front and informed the staff which party we were attending and they directed us where to go. We were in a party room that had a decent size. They staff brought some animals to show the kids. The presenter gave a little introduction, explaining the animal, it's name, habitat, what it eats and how to handle it. Apparently, they did not bring all the animals they were supposed to. The staff seemed unorganized and disjointed. I will say this...you might want to skip on the mermaid upcharge. They bring out a lady wearing a mermaid costume, on a wheelchair. All the kids thoughts she was hurt. I think they need to come up with a better way of presenting said mermaid. It was weird. She's just sitting there, in a wheelchair, while we take pictures with her, and has to be wheeled around the room. I checked out the prices for party groups online and they're not too bad. After the party was over (about 90 minutes) we all had free entry to explore the aquarium. We received some coins for interactive stuff, like getting food to feed the animals. We stayed for a bit and saw everything there was to see, and then head out to explore the mall, which is a wonder park in that of itself. The goody bags also gifted us with a free child entry for another visit. There are several SeaQuests around the tri-state so we definitely could go to another. The aquarium is very small. I'm not sure if the price of admission is worth the visit. It wouldn't take much time to see everything but they do have a live "mermaid" that swims and we did have a nice time.

Walk into Central Park Zoo and you'll forget that you're in NYC. Yeah, it's all a zoo anyway, but…read morereally, this place is a much more peaceful zoo. These days, admission is about $17-$23 depending on your age. Reasonable, especially since it's not a huge zoo. I get in free because I have the WCS Family Membership. If you enjoy the Bronx Zoo and think you'll stop by here once or twice a year, the membership will easily pay for itself. You'll probably spend about an hour and a half here. You can spend longer if you catch one of the scheduled shows or experiences--I remember seeing a seasonal 4D show here. They also have restrooms and a small café. Right in the middle of the zoo is the seal exhibit. If you time it right, you can catch feeding time for the seals or the penguins. Secret tip: If you have no money, sit on the bench just outside the zoo and you can still watch the seals swimming around. Don't even bother with a map here. With the seals in the middle, just walk around them and you'll naturally see everything else. Complete the semicircle and you're done. If you have little ones and they're still eager for more, there's also the Tisch Children's Zoo just a short walk away. It's an easy addition to your day and has some great animals and hands-on exhibits for younger kids. It's a relaxing way to spend a couple of hours in Central Park and one of my favorite little zoos to visit.
