SeaQuest is under new ownership and has a new name, Woodbridge Aquarium & Wildlife Center. One year ago, I provided a mixed three star review. Since then, this venue has gone downhill fast, and is currently at the bottom of the hill. Some of the animals are gone, the glass on many tanks and enclosures are very dirty, and the water in many tanks is cloudy. Tickets for general admission are $20 for adults and $14 for children. They had a 25% discount offer when we purchased them. The pricing structure for interactions is especially disappointing. Food and animal interaction tickets cost $2 each, and entry into certain exhibits requires two tickets per person. For a family of four, that's $16 for what amounts to a very brief, five-minute encounter. Staff members walk around with small animals, such as a rat, and offer children the chance to pet them -- for two tickets per child, or $8 for about two minutes. The touch tank was sparse: a few lobsters, one visible starfish, an anemone, and little else could be seen. The parakeet cage, which was a highlight last year, has also changed. Visitors are given a small stick with a bit of food at the end. Parakeets land briefly, and within about three minutes, we were ushered out. That short experience cost $16. Woodbridge Aquarium & Wildlife Center needs a significant overhaul. While indoor activities for young children can be limited in winter, I would recommend saving your money and looking elsewhere. read more

We came here for a birthday party. Checking in was a breeze. You don't have to wait on line if you're attending a party which was a relief because the line for entry was crazy long. We walked right up to the front and informed the staff which party we were attending and they directed us where to go. We were in a party room that had a decent size. The rooms are built around the aquarium displays with intention; part of the aquariums are also in the room so the guests can see live fish and sealife while in the room. They staff brought some animals to show the kids. The presenter gave a little introduction, explaining the animal, it's name, habitat, what it eats and how to handle it. Apparently, they did not bring all the animals they were supposed to. The staff seemed unorganized and disjointed. I will say this...you might want to skip on the mermaid upcharge. They bring out a lady wearing a mermaid costume, on a wheelchair. All the kids thoughts she was hurt. I think they need to come up with a better way of presenting said mermaid. It was weird. She's just sitting there, in a wheelchair, while we take pictures with her, and has to be wheeled around the room. I checked out the prices for party groups online and they're not too bad. After the party was over (about 90 minutes) we all had free entry to explore the aquarium. We received some coins for interactive stuff, like getting food to feed the animals. We stayed for a bit and saw everything there was to see, and then head out to explore the mall, which is a wonder park in that of itself. The goody bags also gifted us with a free child entry for another visit. There are several SeaQuests around the tri-state so we definitely could go to another. The aquarium is very small. I'm not sure if the price of admission is worth the visit. It wouldn't take much time to see everything but they do have a live "mermaid" that swims and we did have a nice time. read more

There is option to feed fishes and most of other animal here, which is bad idea btw as they have no tracking of who was fed how much and how they balance diet of animals here. We got free tickets for this place and didn't felt it is worth free! My recommendation is If you've a free ticket and happen to be in mall for any other reason you can check this place. Very pleasant little aquarium inside wood bridge mall . They have a wide variety of fish as well as small lizards and snakes . The place also has a toucan ,various farm animals, small rodents and bengal cats, and a flying squirrel They have small station next to each tank/ animal station. You purchase separate tokens in order to interact with the animals . We fed various fish and got to pet the bengal cats as well as feed the flying squirrel .it was a very fun experience . The first thing you'll notice about the SeaQuest experience is the heavy upselling for both token packages and annual memberships at the register. This isn't a problem per se, but a lot of visitors have trouble just saying "no thanks" and so the already sluggish check-in process drags out into a 5-minute conversation that never needs to happen. For some reason, store associates are required to do what appears to be full manual data entry for every customer due to tickets lacking either bar codes or QR codes, which is sooooo 2006 and probably the main reason for the unbearable wait times during weekends and holidays. The lobby area doubles as a gift shop, so at the very least you can look at stuffed animals while you wait in line. At first, I thought this place was named after the nineties sci-fi TV show with the talking dolphin. All the comparisons on Google Maps to SeaQuest being an indoor petting zoo are unfortunately well-founded. Housing toucans, wild cats, and sloths in the same retail space as turtles, stingrays, and eels has also got to be the most bizarre branding exercise for a business that is widely advertised as an interactive aquarium. I definitely didn't come here to pet rabbits or feed ducks, and I would never expect or want the option to do so. But if you like seeing wildly random things juxtaposed, SeaQuest also has coin-operated photo booths, a hurricane simulator, several gachapon dispensers that don't work, and an ice cream vending machine that was probably unplugged years ago. There are at least two sets of visitor restrooms but unfortunately no chairs or benches if you get tired of walking. The odor that other reviews complain about is definitely concentrated in the section with all the poor farm animals. And the humidity inside is like if someone tried to trap the Gulf of Mexico inside a windowless elevator: there is a lot of recycled air here. Most of the exhibits have kid-friendly descriptions printed on plaques, though I found the ones in the reptile section so dimly lit that they were impossible to read. There is probably very little here to wow adults, though when I was here I did see a group of special needs adults visiting with their teachers. My favorite exhibit was the Madagascan Hissing Cockroaches. The flying squirrel was nowhere to be seen, possibly due to the tragic mishap in June 2021. (There was an unrelated but weird incident that happened during my visit where the entire mall was evacuated; I still don't know the reason, but suffice to say that was the only real highlight of my brief 45-minute visit here.) Whatever you paid for admission was probably too much, and even the free admission promotions aren't enough to justify repeat visits. Not quite an aquarium and not quite a zoo, SeaQuest Woodbridge tries to be too many things at once without doing any of them well. SeaQuest Woodbridge may have rebranded itself as Woodbridge Aquarium & Wildlife, but don't be fooled--the name has changed, but the appalling conditions and animal cruelty remain exactly the same. What's advertised as a fun, educational, and family-friendly experience is actually a heartbreaking and revolting scene of neglect, deception, and exploitation. This facility should be shut down for good. The animals are clearly suffering. Many appear starved, distressed, and crammed into overcrowded, filthy enclosures, with no access to fresh air, proper veterinary care, or clean water. The water in nearly every tank is murky, and the entire place smells awful--thick with humidity, urine, and rot. It's suffocating inside--like walking into a 100-degree nightmare that you immediately want to escape. The false advertising is outrageous. Online, this place is portrayed as vibrant and engaging, but in person, it's a depressing, rundown, chaotic mess. The so-called "interactive experiences" are poorly managed or entirely non-functional. When we asked how to feed the chickens, we were literally told: "With the food." That sums up the level of professionalism and care here. Staff are either nowhere to be found or completely overwhelmed, leaving guests confused and animals unattended. Safety is a major issue. Small children are allowed to interact with animals like iguanas without supervision. Some tanks are so low to the ground that toddlers could easily fall in. Aside from the bird cage and Bengal cat encounter, there is zero staff oversight, making this a disaster waiting to happen--for both guests and animals. Even trying to participate in an experience was a complete failure. We attempted to feed the Bengal cats, only to be told the exhibit was "closed by law" and might reopen in an hour. After complaining at the front desk about the lack of posted times or information, we were suddenly told it was actually open, and we could go back in--completely contradicting what we'd just been told. The disorganization is mind-blowing. But here's what makes this all worse: SeaQuest was officially shut down by the state and rebranded as Woodbridge Aquarium & Wildlife in early 2025. This name change was nothing more than a cover-up attempt. * The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection revoked SeaQuest's permits due to inhumane conditions, resulting in the confiscation of at least 25 exotic animals. * Nearly 100 animals have died in this facility since 2019--from sloths and chameleons to pigs and turtles--many due to disease, dehydration, and neglect. * The facility and its new operators have received public condemnation and even a "Cold-Hearted Company" award from PETA, which has actively urged families to stay far away. * Despite the crackdown, many animals remain behind, still subjected to unsafe and unsanitary environments--with no meaningful changes in management, care, or ethics. It's enraging that this business continues to operate at all. Families are being misled. Animals are suffering. The staff are untrained, the facility is unsafe, and the entire operation is held together by deception. I demand accountability: * Investigate this facility immediately. * Shut it down permanently. * Ensure all remaining animals are relocated to sanctuaries or facilities that meet basic welfare standards. * Hold the owners and operators responsible for false advertising, public endangerment, and prolonged animal cruelty. The guy mentioned that on weekends there will be a wait even though if you had prepaid tickets. We had to scan a QR code to be on the waitlist. During that time, we just went shopping for a bit. They text you when you're next then you can head inside. To get inside, you will walk through the gift shop. First thing you'll see are the fish and turtles. Be careful, the floors are wet and there is a smell. There's actually an odor throughout the whole time we were there. They had soooo many different kind of animals and it's indoor.. so what do you expect. Oh man, prepare for all of your senses to be activated. Your pupils will dilate as it goes from dark to light in a quickness, you will smell a fish market and a farm, and you will get to touch water and animals/fish. Saw a deal where you get 4 free tickets, so I jumped onto that opportunity. I'm glad I got the deal, as I would have been extremely upset if I paid that much. We did pay for tokens which gives you different experiences (fish food, petting rabbit, etc). Don't go overboard on a bunch of tokens though. I recommend started off with a small package and getting more if you run out. My son loved the stingrays. He kept going back to the tank. He loved feeding it and touching it. This place makes him want to be a marine biologist. It was great to see the smile on his face. As for my daughter, she loved feeding the ducks and fishes. My family had free tickets to this place and we went. The line was very long on a Sunday but they have you fill out a form online and will notify you when it's your turn. It is located inside a mall so while you wait you can go shopping. Once you get in line it moves quickly, you will be called up to the cashier to get tokens to feed the animal (if you want to) This place is very busy and most animals looked overfed when it was our turn. However we were able to feed some and my favorite was the iguana, we got very close to them and even got a picture feeding them. You can ask the attendants to let you in to touch and feed the chickens or rabbits. I've been here two times. They let teachers and their immediate family come for free. This summer I had to show proof of exactly where I taught with my title teacher on it. They did not accept NJEA card. I showed them my school's website and that worked. I bought the 15 token package to feed the fish and animals. I believe its a bit overpriced I paid about $28 for that. I didn't mind paying it since we were free to go in, but I would be annoyed if I had to pay admission on top it. It is a small aquarium but it did keep all of our kids entertained for about an hour. As annual pass holders to SeaQuest Woodbridge, we honestly cannot give this place a lesser review. Our kids were able to full take advantage of this attraction and we got our money's worth from the passes based on the amount of times we visited and even brought guests on the free pass holders guest passes. We were really awe struck at first by the novelty of an "aquarium" inside a mall. It was just convenient to be able to shop around with kids and then have an activity just for them. So my advice is to treat it as a side/bonus activity while at the mall - rather than SeaQuest being an aquarium to visit. The aquarium itself leaves a lot to be desired. By the 3rd or 4th time we visited, we would literally breeze through all the animal exhibits. There are a few large tanks, but they are rather dull in appearance (almost looked like someone took an above the ground pool and converted for aquatic animals) and a couple of these seemed a bit overpopulated. There are also other non-aquatic animal exhibits that give the aquarium branding a quirky identity. The ventilation is also not the greatest, so if you're very queasy with stench, it would be challenging to stay around long to truly enjoy the exhibits. You can easily spend at least 15 minute here, but I would find it challenging to spend up to an hour here. Overall, SeaQuest Woodbrige is a unique visit and experience, but would rater lower than a SEA LIFE Aquarium at American Dream which is another aquarium that is found at a mall. read more

I've tried to avoid Seaquest based on different rumors I've heard about their ethics. My friend wanted to treat us and invited us here so I figured I'd see for myself. The kids know no different, so they had fun. It was hard to get pictures without any kids (our own and other people's) in the frame so I am not posting any photos to protect the privacy of minors. As an adult, the place seems very disorganized. You have the opportunity to feed most of the animals (you have to purchase tokens) but there is no one there to monitor what you are doing. The iguana exhibit allows you to go right in and be with the iguanas but there is no one regulating it which makes me fear for the animals, and I'm not sure why they aren't worried about one of them escaping from the door people are in and out of and sometimes holding ajar. There was an immediate fish tank odor when you first step in, which I guess is inevitable but if I can warn someone beforehand I'd like to! Apparently they have scuba lessons in one of the larger tanks, my friend was splashed by a child's feet kicking in the water, she didn't know someone was swimming in there... it just seems to me Saturday is not the right time for that type of activity, or at least not Saturday afternoon. It's an aquarium slash petting zoo where the staff will come around with little animals to pet! Although I browsed their website, I was not prepared for what I would encounter. Tip #1: Do not visit on a holiday. We went on Labor Day and stood in line for 90 minutes, while staffers heavily promoted their one-year membership offer to skip the line. No thanks! After walking through the gift store/entrance/exit, we bought about 15 tokens (valued at $25) to feed the animals. Tip #2: Start small! You can always buy more tokens, if needed, once inside. With every step, my five senses were heightened. I took it all in. The dim lights were ideal for the animals but made it challenging to read the text accompanying each enclosure. The two-finger touch area allowed me to feel a starfish, but I was not prepared for the cold water temperature. I was grateful for the hand sanitizers and sinks that were readily available throughout the space. However, staff should frequently replenish the soap and paper towels. The sounds and scents illustrated the uniqueness of SeaQuest, not quite a petting zoo or aquarium but accessible to all in a shopping mall. After standing on the line for 90 minutes, it only took about 30 minutes to walk through the entire space. So we went around a second time and chose to feed the animals towards the tail end. Those towards the beginning were likely already full due to the volume of guests, and food was just floating around in their tanks. I was intrigued by the overall concept, the glofish, touching a starfish, and seeing my first-ever chocolate chip starfish, feeding the parakeets and stingrays. I could not help but reflect on the scenes in the aquatic-focused Disney films, Finding Nemo and Dory. We even saw their respective species in the tanks. We snapped a few pictures, mostly in the open-mouthed shark structure. I would have loved a photo of our family with the parakeets eating from our the palms of our hands. That was a special moment that I will never forget! Aside from the long line, which I hope SeaQuest considers timed-entry tickets in the future, we had a good time. P.S. Could you please add some signage to the outside of the mall? While our GPS led us to the abandoned Lord & Taylor entrance, it was not until we got inside the mall through JC Penney that it all made sense. If "over 2 million guests visit SeaQuest every year according to their site, why not reopen that entrance, which was a straight shot? It was also frustrating that no one could answer my phone call and that the text responses to their FAQs were in white. Prepare to highlight each drop-down. Ahhhh this is not a good place... I went yesterday with my family we left pretty much shocked at the conditions the animals are in. The fish tanks are FILTHY. Like in Finding Nemo when they try to escape the dentist office tank. There are way too many birds in the caged room with a tiny tree. Definitely not enough room for birds to sit or roam. And there's no sky light so they're just in a dim room all day. The pig was all alone. Pigs are social creatures. They need to be with other pigs. He just sits by the food hole to get fed by the kids who purchased the tokens. The parrot was also by himself, wings probably clipped to keep him from roaming freely. It just seemed very sad. Honestly, I paid thinking I'd see fish. There's no need to add farm animals and birds to the aquarium. They're not meant to be perpetually kept indoors their whole lives with no interactions with the rest of the world. I hope these animals eventually get released from their terrible conditions. We had a fun day here! My four year old loved it. We found a good deal on Groupon for the tickets. Once your there, you purchase coins to buy food to feed the fish and other animals. The enclosures were eye level for the kids and adults. They had more than just fish and reptiles and encounters to feed larger animals. My child loved the aviary with the parakeets. It was unfortunate that some of the food machines didn't always work, but I went to customer service and they gave me replacement coins. Also the place is in a mall, coming from out of state, we had no clue and it's not clear on their website. Before I headed back home from holiday travels, a group of us came here for a visit. While I like the idea of this place in theory--who doesn't want to hold a handful of birds and play with exotic cats?--there are many elements that could be improved. As many others have commented, I was very concerned about the living enclosures for many of the animals. There were very large lizards in tiny wall aquariums and many of the animals, like the silkie chickens, had nowhere to hide from the hands of tiny children. One enclosure had makeshift barriers using plastic bin lids to keep a lizard away from a fish habitat. (Based on the haphazard addition of the bin lids, I'm guessing the lizard had already made some successful escapes.) Even the fish tanks seemed rather overcrowded. Not all the enclosures were quite so tiny or public, but I wonder about the quality of life for the animals. (I know the facility said they've been inspected by numerous agencies, but there's a difference between an enclosure meeting a bare minimum and giving a living creature a truly safe and open space.) It's also clear that they are woefully understaffed (or were just after Christmastime) and probably hadn't anticipated such large crowds arriving with their new gift passes. From an entertainment point of view, it takes quite a while for a staff member to bring waiting guests into some of the enclosures. From a safety point of view, it's terrifying that children or adults could stress or injure an animal without anyone to see what's happening for quite a while. There were some huge family groups visiting and it was clear there was very little supervision of the children, which could quickly result in disaster for humans and animals alike. All that being said, I did enjoy seeing the cats, feeding the rays, and holding the birds. The bird room is one of the main attractions here and the staff did a great job of ensuring the numbers of people in the room were controlled and the birds were safe. The cats were beautiful and it was really cute to see them leaping around to catch their feather toy. I would probably be willing to return here if I was traveling again and the group wanted to go. However, I felt myself feeling concerned about the animals just as much of time as I felt enjoyment by being around the animals here. read more

Don't do it. Don't waste your time, don't waste your money. One of the saddest places I've been in. The animals seem miserable and really just beg for food. They will find a way to get money from you any way they can. Admission just lets you walk around and stare at everything, but as everything is extremely food motivated, if you don't buy the expensive tokens in the beginning, nothing will come to you anyway. The interactions are also pathetic. You pay 12 tokens a person (basically an extra $24 each) to do the otter interaction. That "interaction" is being crowded into a room with other people to feed otters through a hole using tongs. You cannot touch them or get close to them. The workers walk around with the smaller animals in their hands and another working holding a phone to make it seem really great to pet the animal they are holding (for tokens of course), if you say yes, they will take some quick photos of you they don't offer you, and you can touch the animal for 10 seconds. For instance, you only find out after paying the tokens that you can only pet the bunny with two fingers down its back for a few seconds. You can't even pet the bunny normally. Unless you have a lot of disposable money and young kids, avoid this place. read more

Bleeding, infections, etc. scared animals. Why would anyone ever ever want to support this. Food tanks to feed are completely empty and when they are fed from looking like they are starved to death it's horrible to watch. I pray this gets closed down right away. No windows - underground - cement - this is so absolutely disgusting and no animals or even humans deserve to live like this. My heart is broken into a million pieces. There is no supervisor and these animals are terrorized by children mishandling them. One bird was dragging his leg. Another bird molting. A sloth pulled away from its baby and put into a different inclosure. Birds don't have any water in their two little bowls - no treats - cats are given one little claw hammock- I cannot believe my eyes as to what I saw today. I am in shock. Managers don't even care. Such a sad sad place. Not clean, very cramped for the animals, and i'm surprised its even legal/allowed to be honest.

Animals do not belong in this filthy fake environment. Floors are dirty. No natural air or sunlight. It's plain abusive. Sea animals belong at sea, not in a mall. read more

I do not recommend this place. 0 stars for animal lovers. It is dank and grim. The animals are in small cages, people have way too much access for it to be safe for either party, and it's completely depressing. I'm disappointed to have given them my money and wish I had done research. Children can just walk into an iguana exhibit and touch them, animals are in small pens in the dark. We could only stand to spend about 5 minutes in there before we left. read more

Kids had a blast, even i really enjoyed the place. They opened strait at 11 AM, you walk in and can buy coins, I had 15 coins and it was enough for two kids. In some cases you can walk inside and handle the pets, the talking parrot was great. It has enough animals to keep kids occupied but small enough to walk around it 2 times in about an hour. And when you finish you are right in the middle of the mall and kids can still have fun. And parking is free. Some people complained about the wait time, the weekend after labor day did not really have any lines.....maybe 15-20 minute wait at max. read more

We did the EpicQuest with our friends and our sons. We had a great time. Mary was knowledgeable and kind to our children and their needs. We got to do multiple encounters with the animals - learned what they like to eat, how they are cared for, and what their favorite things are. The animals looked well-kept. We were able to go behind the scenes where they rehab animals that they rescue which was exciting to see. The animals were happy and playful. The staff was friendly and made sure we followed the rules on how to interact with the animals for animals safety and ours! It was such a fun day! read more

If I could give this place negative stars I would! My family got free tickets and we went on a weekday because we didn't want it to be so busy. It was a Friday night and we had to wait 30 mins. We were like ok maybe it's just really crowded. We walked around the mall for a bit and after got inside fine. If you actually want to do anything you have to pay for it!!! It's very expensive!!!! Also not worth it. The animals look half dead! As a person who loves animals I was extremely upset with their enclosures and how unclean they were. The floors are dirty and the staff did not care at all!!! I watched otters pee, roll in it, and then people petted them! How unsanitary is that!!! DO NOT COME HERE!!! Someone needs to shut this establishment down!!! read more

When I visited I just couldn't get over how unnatural and small all the animal enclosures were. The reptile tanks had no substrate, no places for the animals to hide from the public, and fake plants. The aquariums were overcrowded and we saw fish that looked dead. The farm animals had no where to play or sleep or anything they needed. They are kept indoors 24/7, seems horribly cruel. These animals are being exploited and it's obvious the owners only care about profit. Unsupervised kids were banging on tanks and poking the animals. I would not recommend this place and hope the animals get to a sanctuary. read more

First time I've been to an interactive aquarium and my mind was blown. The staff were super friendly during my visit with my wife and 2 year old daughter. We loved it! I wish I got the name of the tall gentleman with glasses, who took us into the parakeet and the cat exhibit, because he was fantastic. There was so much to see and we will definitely go back, especially since they have an option to get in the water with the animals. P.S. they also have a pretty nice gift shop. My boy is 2 years and 4 months and the moment he wakes up after hist first visit to Seaquest he shows me the door every day and says "Mommy Fishes". Feeding animals becomes like his hobby now. The whole staff is great here and playful with kids. They made sure my toddler every visit to this place is memorable. Every visit is unique something new either my baby feeding the iguana from his hands or the birdies picking up the seeds from our palms pr my baby has snake wrapped up around his arms. i really want to give all my thanks and appreciate "Aidan" who introduced us to this go-to fun loving experience. He is very professional and great with animals and always does guest experience with them in his hands and great spreading knowledge and answering questions. read more

Looking for an interaction with animals for your kids? Well this is definitely a place to try. Purchased a Groupon deal of $49 for a family four-pack plus eight activity tokens. Keep in mind we are under a pandemic. Therefore, this place is understaffed. With a little bit of patience you'll still have a nice time here. Feeding the iguanas was closed as there was no one there to manage that section. Feeding the birds took about 15-20 minutes to enter as the capacity to enter was only 1 family to enter with a max of 4 total. Safety measures are located all around the facility. Before entering you will see the entrance is set up with one way entrance and one way exit along with six feet distance reminders located on the floor. Almost every animal section has the option for feeding. Simply use a coin to retrieve food to feed. The food all looked fresh, including the dead fish for shark feeding. Our favorite was feeding the baby stingrays. They were by far the cutest things ever as they didn't fear humans and came right up to the tank for food and petting! I recommend parking on the first floor as that is where this place is located. There are signs all around to guide you there. Overall, we all had a good time and will be back! read more
