We had to change our pickup time for the auto trailer and they actually stayed late to accommodate us so that we could get on the road that night. This was our first time hauling an auto and they stepped us through the entire hookup making us sure that we would be safe on the road. It was too big for my dining room, had wavey marks across the entire rug from being improperly stored and my husband didn't like it. Then I called Wooden Looms Rug Gallery. Mike, one of two brothers and a wife who owns Wooden Looms listened to my carpet's story and had the knowledge, skill and vision to restore its beauty. Knowledge: Although my husband felt the rug was dingy and worn, Mike inspected the rug and was able to reassure him that it wasn't worn and would no longer be dingy after a good washing. Mike identified the rug as a Chinese Art Deco rug, a valued antique in California. My great grandmother acquired it in the 1920's when a tenant moved out of her apartment building in San Francisco and left it behind. Skill: Mike and his brother Sam carefully measured the rug and calculated how they could cut it in order to save its beautiful floral designs in the corners. The rug had a scruffy old fringe. After cutting the rug, Mike unknotted enough of the rug's 100 year old warp threads to knot by hand a beautiful new fringe. What an amazing skill to have here in Austin! Vision: Mike could see that I loved that old rug. He helped my husband see its value and potential. Mike and Sam delivered the beautiful old rug to our house Monday night and it is perfect.
