Unfortunately, I took my two boys to this business for haircuts on 3 different occasions, due to how close we live to them, over the last 4 years. The hope was that with time passed and different people giving the haircuts the quality of the product would have gotten better. It was not. I like this branch of Great Clips. If you check online it is pretty accurate about how many people are in the line. Here is the trick about hair cut; Every place has a potential of cutting your hair wrong. If you are a laid back person, if you are okay if they mess up your hair first time, try again they wont mess up again. It is not end of the world. You have the roots. Just give them a chance until you find your stylist. Sure they cut bad one or twice here but now they know what I want and I know who is my hair stylist. I went in for a trim on a style that was fine. Just needed to get the dry ends trimmed, so I could continue growing it out. I ended up getting a completely different haircut - on half the hair. The other half, the hairdresser didn't even touch! She did the exact opposite of what I asked and did an extremely poor job of it. My layers are so hacked up, front and back, that will be wearing my hair in a ponytail for the next 3-6 months until I can grow out some of the worst parts. The worst hair experience I've ever had. Went in only because I had a coupon. Told the woman at the front desk I was there as a walk in and she rolled her eyes and acted like I was taking up her valuable time. Was rude and disrespectful for the majority of the haircut. I went to explain to her how I like to style my hair and she responded "I really don't care what you do" right before she managed to cut herself with the scissors right next to my ear. When she came back after cleaning her cut I asked if she was alright and she responded with "I won't know until we're done here" basically acting like I was a burden to her and her day. She was only nice when it came time to pay because she wanted a tip I assume. Next time I'll just pay full price at my regular salon, better than getting a cheap deal on mediocrity. The online check in tool is very awesome and means a very short wait time once you get there. I went in for a basic trim and the woman who helped me (Lindsay) was very pleasant and quick. She chatted a little, but wasn't overly chatty, which I appreciate because it meant that my trim was down within 10 minutes. I've been here like 5 times but today I left in tears. I asked Nicki to leave the hair on top of my head alone, and to do a really high fade at like a .5 or 0. I sit down and she goes to town. Does a fade up to 1.5 and cuts like half an inch to an inch off my hair. Which is essentially the same haircut every guy who goes in there gets. I'm a gay man, please don't mess up my hair. Pretty much what you'd expect from a "bargain" hair salon. Un- amused looking 40&50 somethings with 17 year old hair color.. and not much else. Luckily I just needed a dumpy place that wouldn't be busy on a friday afternoon so I could get a quick trim for my 7 year old daughter. I had recently done the same at the nicer looking , friendlier Elkton location. Their receipt had a $2 off haircut coupon.. And Great Clips advertises inside and out that they accept all competitors coupons. Awesome , thanks. The haircut isnt exactly breaking the bank but hey, $2 off is another $2 I can spend on half a Starbucks. Oh, well, they "dont have a key" for that coupon. This is from a different location! These are all seperately owned! Gasp! Just like McDonalds, and you KNOW they don't accept coupons from ANOTHER McDonalds. ...only from competitors. NEVER again. The Great Clips in Wilmington was good for me - for two years. This one in Newark.... the staff is rude and awkward. Yesterday was the last time I will get a cut there and it wasn't even a full cut; I had to finally say 'ok' and leave. It was by far the most stressful haircut of my life and now I have no hair left since she just kept hacking at it. A guy with a simple trim is basic. They are very, very low quality hair "cutters" with bad attitudes. The best part was being told to SHUSH when trying to ask her to do what I asked. read more

I have been to this salon before and swore I would never go back. My regular salon is closed on Monday and I desperately needed a haircut. This salon is 2 mins away. I took a chance and got there before it opened. I was the 1st one in line and got Niki. She was very nice and personable. I walked out of there with an awesome haircut. I was so happy today, I will make sure I go back when she is there. Niki is the only one I will trust styling my hair over there. Thank you Niki for changing my mind and saving me money on top of it. Very bad attitude. This employee Crissy, at 7 Chesmar Plaza, Newark, DE denied me service because I walked in 5 minutes before their closing at 9. Even though there three employees in the store, and only was cutting another customer, she just said that she had closed the POS system and won't take another customer. Later on I asked if she will honor my coupon that will be expiring the night she denied me service the following day and she said she won't accept expired coupon. Well it won't be expired if you weren't denying me service that night. Very bad and rude employee. This is how G Clips looses a long time customer due to one bad apple. Please fire her or put her somewhere she doesn't have to deal with customers. read more
