I couldn't be happier with the experience. I reached out to them somewhat last minute after a trial I had didn't go exactly as I had hoped. They were able to fit us in and everyone looked and felt amazing. I attached a few photos from my photographer (and a selfie to show you my makeup). I left feeling sad. I am no stranger to a blow out. I've had several in several different states at several different locations. I showed my stylist a photo of my last blow out as I discussed that I wanted it replicated- volume and curls... the ideal blow out. She agreed and commented on both, saying how great my hair was for a blow out.... and don't I know it. But I left there with my hair as flat and straight as though I had done it myself. And to mention, when I booked online for one price, they tried to charge me a much higher one, saying that at some point I agreed to the higher... let me assure you I did not. So, while I wanted to love this most convenient place for a blow bar close by my work and house, I just can't. And I most certainly will never go back. read more

I have gone to this salon for almost a year with just getting lash extensions. I have really enjoyed two of the lash technicians, where they were extremely nice and always did an amazing job doing my lashes. The last time I just went, I booked an appointment with another technician. She took over 20 minutes to actually greet me, and supposedly finished my "hour slotted" lash appointment within 25 minutes. I complained to the manager, where all she did was write my name down--and I STILL PAID the $55. No one has called nor attempted to act like they cared. Honestly, I'd rather have my money back and go somewhere else than go back, but they aren't giving me that option and I can't afford to pay another $160 to fix this. *UPDATE I went back and saw Tateum. She fixed everything. My cut and color both look better. Not 100% what I wanted, but as close as possible after my original disaster. She was very understanding and kind. This was sent to Bethany Keith, one of the owners of Gloss Salon(s) after a botched haircut, an even worse attempt to fix the mess that was made of my hair, and a shampoo that was not done properly. Thankfully, Ms. Keith chose to refund my money to me. On 4 January, Sarah cut my hair. I was very specific about what I didn't want her to do to my hair when she cut it. It was to be blended: no ridge lines. She blew it. On 11 January, Nikki attempted to fix the disaster that Sarah left. She made it much worse. I paid $48 for what will now take at least 6 months to grow out, and cost me 4" of length to reshape it. I went so far as to have my hair washed and blown out by Emma. I failed to ask how much this would cost in advance. My bad. Emma has no clue how to shampoo hair and scalp properly. I ended up having to clean my scalp myself while she stood back. That cost me $34. When you charge me $48 for a shampoo, cut and blowout, and then charge me $34 for a shampoo and blowout, it means that your haircut is worth $14. And that is what your haircuts are really worth. I would not recommend this salon to anyone who actually cares what their haircut looks like. read more

I went here after two unsuccessful bridal trials from my current salon and let me tell you, Taylor was a godsend. She was able to keep a curl in my hair (which my hair isn't curl resistant) and style my hair exactly how I envisioned for my wedding. She also recommended hair extensions and was able to highlight them matching my hair color exactly. I really love that Gloss with come to your house with 3 or more services and it was great for my wedding day. I would highly recommend Taylor and all of the gloss gals. I see Lauren and absolutely love what she does with my hair. Her color work is beautiful and her cuts are always top notch. I go between styles constantly and we are always able to make my newest love work for my hair, which isn't always easy. I use the BB Bar as well for gel manis and really like Lindsay. I went there several times for cut, color or both from Tonya. I gave two stars because she never messed up my hair but she made me wait increasingly long times until the last time it was 20 minutes before she even came out to greet me then she disappeared again for 15 minutes. It took her 30 minutes to mix my color. I was there 2 and a half hours for a cut and partial highlight. When she was with me she spent most of the time talking to the other stylist and he customer. My gel manicure was very messy and every single nail discolored in LESS THAN A WEEK. My nails were pale pink and every single one has turned slightly orange at the tip, and I know it wasn't from anything I've done. So many nails have chipped and broken, many of them breaking a little the DAY I got my manicure. I do not work with my hands or treat my nails roughly. I couldn't find a Yelp page for the Gloss Blow Dry Beauty Bar (located at 77 East Main Street in Newark), so I figured I'd post on the main salon page. I know it recently opened. My mom was throwing me a baby shower at Caffe Gelato this past weekend and I wanted to do a little something extra with my hair. I booked an appt online using the Pingup application, which was a breeze. Lindsay did an amazing job taming my thick, wavy hair and she gave me exactly what I was looking for. They offer some of their own Gloss BBB products, so I purchased the Miracle Treatment, which has worked great so far. Best of all, my blow out lasted 3 days! I wish I could duplicate it at home, but until then, I will go back to Gloss BBB next time I have an event in the area! I also got an eye make-up and lash application with Liz, who also did a great job. There was a misunderstanding about the price but they rectified the situation, which I appreciated. When I saw Brittney was completely booked for the day I wanted, my friend recommended the Newark location on East Main Street and recommended Lindsay and said she loved the blowout she did for her, so I was happy to see Lindsay had available appointments. I wanted to go bright red, and she knew exactly the color to use. It turned out great! The staff is super friendly. I actually had my hair cut done at Gloss in the City (Wilmington), but couldn't find that location on Yelp, so I've used the Newark location as my check-in. I recently grew my colored hair out and am now gray. To do so, I went extremely short in order to avoid the tell tale growth line. I've been trying to put together a new style to go along with my new gray hair. I definitely did not want what I call the typical "granny gray" cut but I seemed to keep getting just that cut via a few different stylists. My appointment today was with Natasha (she's new to Gloss in the City). When I first sat in her chair I nervously pleaded with her to just trim my hair in a way that I could achieve a workable style while I let my get some length to it. She noticed right away how nervous I was and calmly assured me she'd give me a nice cut/trim. She totally delivered!!! I am thrilled with the direction my new cut is taking! Thank you, Natasha. I got my hair cut at this salon a couple months ago. The cut was okay, I wanted to take off about 4 inches, but my stylist kept reassuring me that she wouldn't go to short, despite what I asked for. I ended up walking out with little more than a trim. After searching through alternate salons, I decided I would give gloss a second chance out of connivence. I called to make an appointment (10:30AM) and there was no answer after many rings. An hour or two later I called again and was instantly put on hold for over 10 minutes before I hung up! We used Gloss for in home wedding hair and make-up and were so happy with their service! They came right on time and were happy to work with a small party. They sent two people to work with a five person wedding, so it was a great ratio with no time pressure. They were flexible and worked with each person on the style they wanted. They were friendly and fun to have in the home. They are not the cheapest option, but we thought it was worth it for the convenience and flexibility. Gloss did on site makeup for my friend's wedding and she looked amazing! I called to book them for my wedding, and they said they wouldn't travel the 1 mile to my hotel because i wasn't getting 3 people's faces done. I have no bridal party. I offered to pay extra, and they said no. I still decided to book with them, but after thinking about it, decided that on my wedding day, I didn't want to run around to differen't places. I wanted everyone to come to me. I called again to confirm that they would NOT come to me to do my makeup. It was confirmed, and I canceled my appointment. They do good work, but even when I offered extra money, they still wouldn't budge from their policy. I get it, but I will just go somewhere else. They could have made money on an easy job. read more

Absolute nightmare. I went in to get fusion extensions done. After asking for an all over color of pastel pink (which the stylist and i agreed too) she only did streaks of pink which made me feel like a little kid but in her professional opinion i went with it. She then curled my hair as to hide the fact that she did not layer my hair at all. As the curls fell out i had one long mullet.. i looked like a cheap 80s rock star. To make matters worse everyone told me they could see the tracks at the top of my head. After speaking with two liscenced hair stylists from a friends recommendation they told me my fusion tape extensions had been placed way too far up my head and way too far forward. And that this girl did not have experience in this field. They dyed my hair a darker pink to hide the top, and layered my hair. NOW MY EXTENSIONS ARE FALLING OUT. I got these done 3 and a half weeks ago. I contacted the salon about a re fund and was given my money back for an extra pack of hair i wont use (since clearly i'm not coming back) but now they cannot re attached the 2 that have fallen out and fix the others that are hanging on by mere threads without a charge since i had work done somewhere else. I have over $1000 dollars invested and have literally spent nights crying. I work in the service industry and have been so polite about this whole thing but this is absurd. I have never been treated like this. I leave for vacation Friday and i'm thinking about cutting off all my hair and doing a pixie. Over priced, with inexperienced service, unobliging in their mistake, please do yourself a favor and avoid this place for extensions. read more

I am an older person. I have gone to this salon a few times and have not been satisfied with my cut or style. But the thing that bugs me the most is the last two times, either my stylist was late getting there for an early morning appointment (1/2 hour) and the haircut was terrible. Today, I thought I would give them another shot, so I made the appointment for 1:30. I was there five minutes early and told by the young man at the front "someone with be right with you" No one ever came out after ten minutes, then twelve minutes, no "I'll be right with you" no nothing, so I walked out and drove down to the other Gloss location and was seen right away by a very sweet young lady who is now my new stylist. This is not a doctor's office, it is supposed to be relaxing to go to the salon, not a waiting game - you lose! read more
