I was able to get my preferred usual cut measurements added to the app so it could be easy to return and get the same cut again. Waiting time wasn't bad on a Saturday morning but definitely get on the waitlist before showing up to avoid having to wait too long inside the store. When u kindly request a trim and the stylist (whose name wasn't given nor is on the receipt) wants to debate about a mullet and you make it known repeatedly. You don't want a mullet you just want a 1/2 of an inch taken off and you get home after it is dry and u see that more than what you requested was cut off Not too professional for someone who states they have been cutting hair for 25 years. Great Clips Santa Cruz is a stylish and modern salon and the stylists there are so welcoming. I especially love Kelly because she always leaves me feeling amazing! I didn't have to say much and she already knew what to do. Never once did she get antsy, even when her other client came, she didn't rush to finish my hair. I thank her for her professionalism. Kelly, a bilingual Spanish/English speaking person who, as of today, seems to enjoy access to the privilege of representing this business and cutting hair here, spontaneously verbally abused me and others during my visit this afternoon. I politely asked her to speak more respectfully to others, yet the abusive words, tone, interrupting, shouting over those addressing her in a polite tone, and denial of all the aforementioned behaviors simply continued. Others approached me outside the business and spontaneously described her unprovoked verbal abuse of them as well. This is never okay. It's all the more unfortunate, since I have been to this business before and experienced only pleasant behavior from those who served me and others in the past. read more

This place is really hit and miss for a haircut much more infamous on the Miss. Most of the time you'll end up with an uneven haircut very subpar clipper jobs. It looks like they're trying to hire new people but they don't seem to work out. But you're charging 25 for a haircut that looks like a 10 cut that's just not right. read more

Took my dad here for a cut. I love that you can see online how long the wait is and put your name on the list. The spot was clean and fine. The parking in the shopping center can be a little challenging at times but this day we had no problem. The lady did a fine job and my dad was happy. After she had cut my hair with the buzzer she starts taking off the gown without even touching the top of my head to make it look good. When I asked if she could you know, finish the haircut, she looked at me extremely pissed off like I just asked her to disarm an explosive. I tried to sign in to Great Clip's website at 8:45 am. It takes 8 min to get there and they open at 9 am. The software doesn't let you sign in until 9:05 am. Why have such an impressive website application but not available to sign into until 5 min after they open? Illogical. I signed in at 9:05 am, the program said "0" min to wait. I drove to the Great Clips shop. There were two people in front of me. The person I dealt with said, "Of course you can't sign in before 9 am, we're not open." Like I didn't understand basic logic. So if you want a haircut first thing, do not sign in online. Just show up at 9:00 am. Signing into their application and expecting to be seen when the program says is not how it works. I take both my kids here, and I go here myself. I won't share who I go to because then y'all will steal her!! My hairdresser is amazing. She takes her time and does a wonderful time with kids, which is a plus and hard to find in this area. I call and make sure she is working. Then, I check in online. I came back today with my boyfriend and his haircut was much better! No crooked ends behind the neck, the cut was very decent, and the stylists were great. I heard the stylists socialize with other customers and it was very friendly, so bonus points for that one. And it's nice to be told "have a great day!" even when I myself wasn't an actual customer. However, the wait is still a bummer. We checked in at home and it said there was an estimated 34 minute wait. We headed out after checking in and still waited at the store for about an hour. I must say I've never walked out after a hair cut in tears. Some stylist are better than others. Some are more intuitive where others may have more experience. They advertise just come on in, no appts necessary but that's not really the case. You need to go to their website, enter your name & indicate location you want to be seen & preferred time. They show you how many other's have signed up ahead of you at your location. Signing in is not making an appt or even reserving a time slot. More often than not I've not really been turned away. However, i think its really not a good idea to just arrive & expect someone will be ready to serve you. Even then there's no guarantee you're going to be seen when you just stop by. Overall, I'm simple person with simple needs (@ least right now haha) & am not seeking any coloring, or a dandy-do with special effects so for now, they fill my needs, giving me what I want at a very affordable price. They even have discounts going on all the time. I give them 4+ stars because 5 implies perfection. And thank goodness we are all far from perfection. I say give them a try.....except for those who are are already perfect. Just for fun, here's one of my favorite jokes for now anyway. Q. What's the difference between ignorance & apathy? A. This is where I go to get my hair cut. It's pretty average for a low-price haircutting place. A bit better than supercuts and surecuts I think. I generally don't hate the haircuts I get here and they're cheap (22 bucks I think?). Not much else to say except that there's sometimes a line that is multiple people and you'll have to wait as long as half an hour or even more, so remember to always call ahead or use the app to check in before going here. read more

I have really choppy hair with side swept bangs. I usually get my haircuts in Chinatown, San Francisco. But today I was messing with my hair and I cut a chunk off my bangs and they looked terrible so I needed a quick touch up on my bangs. I came here after class and the Asian woman helped me out. I was thinking "YES!!!! She's gonna make my hair awesome cuz shes Asian!" She also told me she was from China so I assumed she was a hairstylist back in China! I was thrilled to have her cut my hair. I told her I wanted side swept bangs and she kept cutting and cutting and I didn't say anything cuz I thought she knew what she was doing. But after she was done, my hair was super short and I look like as if my 7 year old little brother took a scissor and went across my bangs. I was sad and I was frowning and she asked me how did I want it? & I grabbed my laptop and showed her how its suppose to be! She then said "Next time bring a picture" but not in a bitchy tone, she was super nice about it. SO HEADS UP! BRING A PICTURE! Anyways, continuing on, she then asked me if I got my hair cuts in Chinatown cuz she noticed I was from the city based on my phone number's area code. Which I answered Me: "Yes, because they know how to cut Asian hair." Her: "Oh yeah, they do, I wish I knew how to cut Asian hair, I need to practice and learn more & next time bring a picture!" Me: "Well I didn't want to drive back to SF just because I needed a fix on my bangs." Now I'm thinking "OMGGGG WHAT HAVE I DONEEE!!!!? ='[" Needless to say, I probably won't be coming back here and she felt bad so she ran out after me after I paid and gave me a 2 dollars off coupon. I ended up with Alyssa as my stylist for the day. went for a shampoo and rinse this time around. poor girl lost control of the shower head and splashed water all over me. poor me. hahahahhaha but it was cool. we laughed it off. she knew exactly what i wanted and made sure that she had the same vision as i did in terms of length, style, etc. my hair turned out beautifully this time around. thank you thank you! i', happy to give this place their stars back! read more

Two more guys show up and put name in. Some reason both those guys were taking before me even though there names where after mine. Wait time said 8 minutes. I sat patiently for 30. I get it your not staffed because no one wants to work in this town. But when a customer is there before two others and you take them instead. That's just messed up. read more

Worst haircut and service I have ever received in my entire life. If I could leave zero stars, I would. I have been to a Great Clips before and received a haircut I loved at a different location. All I wanted was a trim, so I didn't think twice about getting my hair cut here. I wish I could've known what I was going to look and feel like at the end of this because I could've saved myself so much heartache. Kelly is the one who cut my hair. I was very clear on what I wanted; I wanted my length to stay the same, my layers to be brought up about an inch, and my wispy bangs and hair framing my face to be trimmed. I showed Kelly what I wanted, but from the start she was very dismissive. I don't think she even listened to a word I said because I left with a completely different hair style than what I walked in with. The worst part of my haircut is how awful she made my bangs. Instead of just trimming my already existing bangs (like I had asked), she grabbed an entirely different section of my hair (including all of the hair that was framing my face) held it up - and before I even realized what she was doing - hacked off all it, leaving me with thick, uneven, ugly bangs. They are so bad I cannot stand to look at myself in the mirror, and every time I do I end up sobbing. Not only did Kelly drastically change my bangs, but she took off about an inch off of the bottom, which I had asked her not to do. I already had nice layers in my hair, but my hair had grown out about 1.5-2 inches since my last haircut, so I just wanted them to be brought up about an inch. I could tell she was doing something wrong, because the way she was trimming them was far too careless and choppy. When I got home, I realized my hair was ridiculously thin. I am used to having layers, but my hair has never been this thin. Besides giving me a horrible haircut, Kelly was rude, unprofessional and entitled. To start, during my haircut she made a comment about how she thought I had too many ear piercings. Then, when she cut my bangs, I was in shock at how much she cut off and I was about to start crying. I reached my hand up to touch them as she turned around, and she immediately told me "No don't touch them". As if I'm not allowed to touch my own hair. I still do not know what possessed her to cut off so much of my hair. I was stunned by her comment, but I continued to sit as she tugged at my hair. She didn't make any small talk (which is fine), but I thought it was weird that the only thing she asked me the entire time was how old I was. As she wrapped it up, she made a snide comment about how lucky I was to be receiving a "$60 haircut for only $20". Ma'am, last time I checked - a hairdresser that charges $60 would have the ability to execute a simple trim. I've worked in the service industry before, so I always tip. I chose not to tip a service worker for the first time ever because I was so disappointed with my haircut and her attitude. And as I was leaving, I still said, "thank you, bye!", but she did not say anything back to me. It is not the worst haircut in the world (or at least that's what my friends keep telling me), but I walked out of the salon with a completely different hairstyle and thin hair. I understand the stress of Covid but, don't ask me at the end of my haircut if it looks okay or if I'm satisfied if you're going to tell me you're going to charge me for a second hair cut if I want an inch or two more off...and then say "you're really going to make me do another haircut". Excuse me, it's the same cut? And you only sectioned my hair in 3 sections then hacked each section. So no since it's such a hassle for you, don't cut my hair more. Me and my friend came in and paid $11 for our hair cuts. We both have really long hair and just wanted a trim with more layers. Unfortunately the ladies who cut our hair did not do a good job. I don't think the workers listened to what I wanted because my hair was way way shorter than I wanted it to ever be. Although they were nice, they just didn't listen to what I wanted, and I made it clear that I did not want short hair either.
