Had my hair cut by Piper about 6 months ago and it was probably one of the worst hair cuts I've ever had. She yanked a comb through my long hair repeatedly while combing it out after the wash leaving my head pretty sore, cut way too much off the ends, and used thinning scissors on my hair for I don't know what reason. I'm guessing because I have thick, curly hair it was an easy way for her to get some of the bulk out without doing the work of actually layering and shaping my hair. Since my cut, my hair has been much more frizzy due to her thinning out my hair, and now it will take a few years to grow it out. She is labeled as a "master stylist" but honestly I would not agree. I will definitely be looking for another hair salon. read more

Very bad experience. I would not recommend doing business with such rude and unforgiving people. I made a mistake and forgot my first and only appointment. I payed them $90 dollars for missed appt. And I'm no longer allowed in their parlor. They may do good hair - I'll never know. But they have bad business practice. Very unkind. You are not allowed to be human and forget an appointment with them because - don't you know they are superior and never in their lives have they forgotten an appointment. Wait till you get older! Such arrogance. I'm glad I dont have such people touching my hair. Disdainful Oops, owner is right. I did miss another appointment. They rescheduled appointment because I offered more money for hairdresser to come in today (Saturday) I was giving them a trial run to see if the hairdo that I was gonna get today would be what I would like on my wedding date. Ego driven business focused only on money is not good for community. I'm glad there are other salons much more caring and cordial and honest. It's reprehensible you would stoop so low as to lie and leave the part out that she was gonna be getting extra cash for coming in on a Saturday. And your salon is open on Saturdays. And the hairdo I was requesting would not take 2 1/2 hours - French like braid? Get real. And of course you got $90 for how much of your time? An hour max! That's being generous. So, no you don't get to snake your way out of this May I make a cordial suggestion especially for folks that are over 50 years old. I'm 61. Rather than being mean and punitive to those of us whose memory is not what it used to be when we were younger, instead send a friendly reminder an hour before appointment. Sound good for business? I had my first haircut at the Parlour recently and it was really lovely. There is parking behind the salon for customers and I was warmly greeted upon arrival. The space is quaint and clean and it felt good to be in there. My stylist was so friendly, curious, and attentive. I am still learning what it means to have curly hair and I have yet to really love a haircut I have received since my hair decided it wanted to be curly. I can confidently say that this is probably my favorite cut in the last 5-6 years and I truly believe it is because of how well my stylist listened and executed. I've been going to Parlour at the Point for 3/4 of a year now, and Stephanie does my hair. I reviewed them after my first appointment with a raving 5 star review, but I wanted to add to my first review since I've been going a while now. I wanted to add how lucky I feel to have found them. I'm going to be 62 years old next month, and when I first went in my hair was fried dry and in terrible shape with a terrible hair cut. On my first appt. Stephanie sat me down, asked me what I was wanting for the color and cut. She went over everything with me. She showed me a couple of combinations of colors and showing me what would be best to achieve what I wanted. Every step of thd way she would explain what she was doing and why. My hair was in such bad shape, but we chaned some products and had me also do some conditioning masks snd treatments between appointments and it worked. I have full trust in her and so much so that I can just tell her to do what she thinks is best and I know I'll love it, and I always do. She has gotten my hair back in shape and beautiful, and so much so that my hair looks like a 25 year old's head of hair! The shine, color and strength as well. It's so amazing! She has taken years off my appearance as well. Forget Botox or fillers to the face, a healthy shiny head of hair does wonders! I've noticed also that everyone that gets their hair done at Parlour at the Point walks out tall and looking so happy and beautiful. All of the stylists/staff are wonderful. Overpriced for the trim (probably an inch off and no layering or framing) and tinsels I got. I wasn't sure on the vibe I got when coming in, I know that salons may vary because of education, training, time etc. but personally I would rather spend the cash at a different salon. I paid over $150 plus tip for the services. I just know I could get great quality for less but glad I gave it a shot to know for future. read more

My wife had a bad experience with Parlour at the Point. She missed her appointment. She just forgot. They called her 15 minutes into the appointment time. My wife was embarrassed and apologetic. They asked for a credit card, because they charge 40% for a missed appointment. My wife was understanding and still apologetic, and approved a 40% ($90) charge. Seemed like Parlour was made whole. The girl drove to work for that one appointment, but got $90 and was free to get on with her day after only 15 minutes. My wife called back to reschedule an appointment. The girl on the phone explained that they would not do business with her, because she missed an appointment. !!! Ever! It seems to me that if they can get $90 for 15 minutes from my wife, they should hope for that outcome every time. I'm not sure who is served by banning a customer for missing an appointment. I've never heard of that. In a community as small as Santa Cruz, treating people badly is probably not good for business. Anyway, after my wife, without hesitation or push back, paid the fee to make it right, banning her came across as mean. read more

My husband got his haircut here and it turned out great! My husband has been trying to grow out his hair for a long time but when he goes to get a trim they never understand what he wants. Mikayla did his hair and she walked him through everything and put together a plan. She showed him how to take care of his hair and what to use. I sometimes think that barber shops don't know what to do when a man wants to grow out his hair and my husband has been told that they can't cut it the way he needs for it to grow. I am so happy I took him here because they knew what to do with his hair and my husband finally said he thinks his hair is out of the awkward faze after 4 years lol. Thank Parlor at the Point! Savanah did my cut and color this afternoon. She was amazing. She completely listened to my concerns about using glazes (my past experiences are they can't fight against my naturally red hair). I loved her willingness to collaborate with her colleague and watching them put their heads together and come up with a plan for my hair was so fun to watch. I moved to the area a little over a year ago, and I struggle to trust anyone with my hair. After a while I had to go in, and Tara was absolutely amazing! She specializes with long hair, is extremely experienced, and made me feel comfortable instantly! She explained everything she was doing, and double checked with me to make sure I was okay with it. I will go back for color, but I am in love with my new hair cut! I also got a demineralization treatment done on my hair because I surf, and it made it silky smooth. I always drive to my hometown to get my hair done, but yesterday I took a chance with Savannah (as per recommendation) and it was nothing short of amazing! I could not be more happy with my hair or my entire experience at this precious salon. I do not take getting my hair done lightly as I have very thin, short, and fine hair, so there's not a lot of wiggle room. And let me tell you, sweet Savannah nailed it! Why? Because she has years of experience and took the time to CLARIFY, CLARIFY, CLARIFY! I wanted bright, white blonde, not yellow, but also not so white that it looks dull and grey. Clearly I have big opinions about my hair, and Savannah took the time to figure out exactly what I wanted without promising too much. I scheduled a Saturday appointment to get my mothers and my hair done for my cousins wedding. We drove from out of town and this salon came highly recommended to us. When we drove into town for our schedule appointments qthe salon was closed. I called several times at different times and only ever got the answering service. I have followed Whitney to three salons because she is the best. So delighted she has her own salon. The neighborhood is great and the salon is so charming inside. You could spend an afternoon on this side of town treating yourself- get your hair done, grab a verve coffee and a slice of pleasure point pizza (or eat at the new Mediterranean restaurant right next store that I am about to try) and then walk the three blocks to the beach. I was going to follow her wherever she ended up but this place is especially awesome. About the service: Whitney really takes the time to talk through all the options and get to know you and your needs. I first came to her several years ago wanting a major change. We made an appt just to talk through my ideas before we actually got to my hair. She explained all the pros and cons with my proposal in terms of my own hair. Not only was she simply the sweetest, but she also took such care in understanding what I envisioned for my hair. I felt totally heard and understood, and she literally made my hair dreams come true - but even better! I'm sure most of us have experienced asking for a trim, only to have an inch or two more than what we had requested cut off. Well, that was NOT the case with Carly.
