I have been going to this office for many years, long before it was great expressions. Always came here for the good people in the hygiene & dental staff, who not only cared about me, but they simply were just great at dentistry and hygiene. Now that its great expressions some of that has changed, but I keep coming here because they kept some of the same hygienists that made the dentist office great. I only come here for those few trusted hygienists and as long as they stay there I will stay there. I can truly recommend them from my many years of personal experience and my family's personal experience. read more

My scheduled routine cleaning was not performed after I declined additional recommended services that would have incurred extra costs. I found it concerning that neither the dentist nor the hygienist discussed the treatment recommendations with me directly; instead, these suggestions were handled by the clinic staff. Clear communication between patients and healthcare providers is important, and this experience did not meet my expectations. I went to for periodontal issues. I was told I was getting a deep cleaning. No it was a maintenance cleaning. They never did the periodontal shit. I now live in Texas and I just finished a periodontal treatment. I never received this from your office. Here in Texas they do 1/2 your mouth at a time and shoot medicine into the gums. I had some pretty deep pockets, like 7's and 8's. Same as when I went to GE. Today I finished the periodontal treatment, which was kind of like what I got at great expressions. Every time I went they said they were doing a deep cleaning. Well what they call it here, is a maintenance cleaning. Today my numbers were lowered. I have a 5 in a couple of places. Amazing! If I wouldn't have moved I wouldn't have know the difference. Obviously, great expressions you're not doing it correctly, because if you would have, I wouldn't have been fighting those deep pockets for so long! Do Better! read more

I have been going to this Great Expression on Canton Center Road for many years. I chipped my tooth and had an appointment yesterday to see the dentist. I waited an hour in the dental char for a quick exam and told to make another appointment for today. I got to my appointment 17 minutes late as I had to work in Detroit and got stuck in a 30 minute traffic delay. I was told I was 2 minutes outside of their 15 minute grace period and would have to come back. I explained the chipped tooth was causing an abscess on my tongue and that the chipped tooth could also quickly turn into a cavitynor worse. I also explained I could not come back for four days as I was leaving in the morning for a work trip. I was told, sorry it's policy. I spoke to the manager and was told the same thing. I am absolutely furious. I changed dentists as soon as I got back in my car. I was on the verge of tears. I am livid about this experience! Not acceptable! read more

I will start by saying the Canton, MI office staff was friendly and personable. The hygienist Saba and other personnel that I encountered were professional. I came in for a cleaning and was told by Dr Baiz that I needed a full x-ray since this was my first visit at this office. I explained I was seen at another office in Southgate, but they said they did not have access to their records. OK, so I asked "Will my insurance cover another set of X-rays? Please check my insurance." I was told "Yes as because this is your first visit with us. They proceed to do a full mouth x-ray, a deep cleaning, and provide me with a mouth rinse. I pay out of pocket, over $200.00 up front (this is with blue cross blue shield dental insurance). Then two months later I get a bill for another $101 for x-rays. My insurance company says they will only pay for a full set every 5 years, but they could have done a xray on the tooth they needed an xray for or provided a justification why they did an xray on the whole mouth. I asked before my appointment if they checked my insurance. I wrote on my consent form to check insurance before services being provided and give me a estimate of charges. This was not disclosed nor explained. Times are hard and eggs are expensive. I don't need for companies to do a service and then tell me that I am responsible for the bill when I asked up front what the charges were going to be. I spoke to the office manager today. She said your insurance company did not tell us you had a prior x-ray, BUT LADY I TOLD THEM THIS, DOES THAT NOT COUNT FOR ANYTHING? This is misleading and frankly a fraudulent practice. RIP OFF, DO NOT GO HERE!!! This Place is a joke. 1st they did a root canal on a tooth, and the healthy tooth next to it chipped/broke the next few days after, due to him grinding behind too much. ALSO, HUGE INSURANCE FRAUD HERE. I have Blue Cross Dental, for (1) tooth to be worked on, I still paid over $700 out of pocket. I was so irritated with this bill, and to top that, I had a $0 balance once I left. 3 months Down the road I get an automated text message from this dentist office #, saying "you have an outstanding balance, click the link to forward you to show your bill". I had been putting off some dental work for a while when a cracked tooth made that impossible to do any longer. I had been here for cleaning and so decided to talk with them about the extensive work I needed and I am glad I did. I found everyone at this office, from the receptionists to the hygienist to the doctors, to be extremely helpful and pleasant. They were happy to work around my schedule, and even managed to squeeze me in at the last minute when I needed. The receptionists worked extra hard to help with an issue that I was having with my insurance company and doctors and hygienists were quick, gentle, and did great work. I am very glad that I chose this office to have the work done that I needed. read more

I have problems with the office staff every single time I have an appointment. Most recently, I had a cleaning scheduled, and a receptionist called me to reschedule it since apparently the hygienist I was scheduled with left the company. Then, the day of my rescheduled appointment, I received a call FOUR minutes before my appointment time telling me that all the computer systems were down and I needed to reschedule my appointment AGAIN. Not only had I left from work to make this appointment, but since the call came four minutes before the appointment time, I was obviously only a couple minutes away from the location. This was so annoying and I asked for a receptionist to call me back at a later time since I was driving at the moment and could not check my calendar. Guess what? I have never received a call back to reschedule for the third time. This was about a month ago. I'm now looking for a new dentist office. What a disappointment. Also, the receptionists are always rude and have no customer service skills whatsoever. Even if I'm ten minutes early for my appointment, I'm always waiting at least 10-15 past my appointment time before I'm called to the back. Then another 10-15 minutes waiting in the chair alone until the hygienist comes... My advice is to give yourself at least an hour and ten minutes if you schedule a cleaning appointment here, but better yet, I'd recommend a different dentist office altogether. read more

If i could give them no stars i would! This is for livonia on Middlebelt Charging a$15 fee per person, per visit for ppe. This is uncalled for as they say they are having less patients and giving to spread them out in the office, they are charging for Ppe,cleaning products and filing paperwork. Ppe is something they wear, gave skyways worn and are wearing less as they have less patients which also means less cleaning and 1extra page of paper to file which we fill out ourselves and they file paperwork already. Ppe is payed for by the company and as a consumer during the times of covid 19 we should not be held respinsible to pay for ppe, cleaning and fling paperwork. They have at least 349 offices and with only 20 patients per day and I'm sure there is more that means they are bringing in $300 per day per office $1500 per week per office $6000 per month per office And with 349 offices at least. That is: $104,700 per day $523,500 per week $2,094,000 per month This is totally gouging customers especially those that cannot afford. My husband unfortunately lost his job due to covid I have back issues so I do not work and we have 2 college students in our home. This should be illegal and other dental offices are not charging and neither are the hospitals which definitely wear much more per day. My advice is to avoid this place!!!! The dental assistant acted like I had the smallest mouth she had ever seen when she was taking the x-rays. A few of the bottom x-rays had to be done three times. She really jammed those films in and it was uncomfortable. Afterwards, the dental hygienist came in to measure my gums. She asked if I ever had a deep cleaning to which I replied no. I had a really bad feeling at this point. Anyhow, she stated that my measurements were mostly twos, threes, and just a few fours. Well, the dentist came in awhile later and he had a different opinion about the measurements. He tried to say I had SEVERAL fours, fives, and sixes!! They came up with a treatment plan and stated the first of two deep cleanings would be done today. I inquired about a regular cleaning and I was told that could not be done until there was improvement with the measurements. Now, I am very meticulous about my teeth. I brush twice a day and floss in the evening. There's no way my mouth could be in that bad shape. I explained that to the dentist and that everything was fine two years ago at my previous dentist. Anyway, I stated that I didn't sign up for a deep cleaning and that I wanted a second opinion. He stated that he is the only dentist there, but that I could go to one of their other locations. As I was leaving, the front desk clerk asked if I would like to schedule the next appointment. I didn't want to be mean and I stated how I would have to get back to them. I was then handed the estimate with the treatment plan. The next two appointments would be the deep cleanings and the third would be to have the cavity filled. My out of pocket estimate is $454!!! there is nothing great about GEDC. I have never been to a medical office where the receptionist says ;That will be 462.50 b4 you see anyone with a degree. Its not hard to figure out that the DDS,ortho, or the oral surgeon are all contract employees and don't really care about what happens out front. I made an appointment with this clinic as I had a crown fall off. The crown was placed 2.5 years ago by this group. They did get me in at the last minute but the dentist who examined me (female) was not very conscientious as this tooth was ver damaged and she knew it was very painful . The dental assistant also female was nice at first until she tried to rinse out my mouth with water. I jumped as this caused quite a bit of nerve pain on this 45 year old deep filling. I tried to explain to her why I was upset but she stayed "I was trying to rinse the anesthetic out of your mouth!" She was then very rude the rest of the appointment. I would give zero stars if I could. I will elaborate. After a couple of bad experiences, one final visit forced me to transfer my records to another dentist office. At Great Expressions, all in one visit, I was told I had FIVE cavities, and that I needed to get my wisdom teeth removed IMMEDIATELY. I also showed them a concern I had with my jaw (it's never opened or closed just right) to which my hygienist replied "Just don't open it like that". Sorry ma'am, that's the problem. That's the only way it opens and closes! Anyway, I transferred dentists and got second opinions and 1.) I don't have any cavities! (let alone FIVE) and 2.) My wisdom teeth aren't even close to growing in! I also got viable advice and referrals for my jaw. Been going here for years, service has been slowly declining though to the point my wife and I have discussed changing dentists. They made it easy today though, after my cleaning I had a crown done, the Dr (Dr Baiz) was so rough in everything he did. In doing my crown he broke the tooth next to the one they were working on and then tried to incinuate it must have been that way when I came in. It was not, and i told him flat out "you broke my tooth" he wouldnt even apologize claiming he wasn't sure how it happened. I told him, I know what happened, you were so rough you broke it. Canton center: Please read!!! Our insurance changed and we were forced to pick a new dentis. We already went to the joy rd location which were AMAZING! But the canton center location is horrible! I took my three kids there for the first time. It was my 5yr olds first time ever and I didn't want to leave her side but they told me I HAD to wait in the waiting room for her to get X-ray.I told them she doesn't need X-ray and I just wanted to get her comfortable with just a cleaning (she was shaking) the dentist DR. Abbas Baiz told his assistant to tell me that's their policy and he would recommend a pediatric dentist if I didn't agree. My two other children were in chairs at that time and both came home with swollen gums which I took a pic of and called to inquire why this might happen and no call back. The fact that Dr. Abbas Baiz (shameful to call him a dr) would choose the money they get for an X-ray o we all the money he could have made with my family of five for years to come. Also after my boys got their teeth clean not one dental hygienist talked to me a their teeth, not even any constructive criticism. Horrible! Oh and they charge 10$ Covid office sanitizing. read more

When my insurance changed I needed to find a replacement that accepted my insurance. GEDC was listed and I chose them as all I needed was a simple teeth cleaning. I arrive early to do my paperwork and I am taken back quickly. The assistant does the X-rays which were beyond painful because of the contraption they use and took close to 30 min, after that the hygienist measured the bone density of my teeth, which was painful by itself. After 45 min I was told I needed a cleaning that would take up to 45 min and I would need to reschedule. I was told that is standard practice in their building that your initial appointment is for X-rays and see what's going on with your teeth. After expressing how difficult it was to obtain the appointment due to my work schedule they were able to fit me in a hour later. It took the hygienist 25 min to clean my teeth and the dentist didn't even come back to double check the hygienists work. I am 30 years old with no prior dental work and I do not trust this place will care for my teeth like my last dentist did. If I could give zero stars I would. read more

She was extremely rude, confrontational, and very unprofessional during my visit - this was even evident in her body language [rolling eyes, etc.] In my opinion, I think that management should address her actions immediately, otherwise the company's customer service metrics will drop and customers will no longer want to continue to go to Great Expressions Dental Centers. They push products & services as if the place were a constant live infomercial for anything and everything in or near the mouth. They will tell you procedures are covered by insurance and then you get a surprise bill in the mail. Insurance companies beware of unethical billing from this place. I did and had to pay for braces again - as I was now out of network (next nearest in-network ortho was in Lansing). Fortunately - the office I found was wonderful - have had zero issues!! Now, I am getting calls and certified letters from this office that they have been unable to reach me and they will not assume responsibility for my son's treatment?!! First, they were the ones who told me to go elsewhere. Second, they never called me once! Lastly, they didn't seem to assume responsibility even while he was under their care. Refused to clean my teeth and told me I was trying to fraud my insurance company by asking for a basic cleaning instead of the "deep clean" Dr t-shirt insisted I needed. Then billed me for x-rays that they assured me we're pre-approved by my insurance before they took them. X-ray equipment broke down, had to take them twice. The office was not clean. The staff was unprofessional, especially the tech who got in my face when I asked for the basic cleaning. Never got my teeth cleaned. Avoid at all costs. Years ago Great expression sold on deep cleaning and quote me a price. i agreed and I made them sign that they wouldn't come later and charge me more than they have quoted me. I paid right after the job was done. weeks later they claimed that they under quoted me, and they demanded i pay few hundred dollars more or they would ruin my credit. I paid the amount and later with the help of a letter to Better Business bureau recovered my money. I swore to never use them again. since that time I went to Birchtree dental. I always paid them what they quted me and never had an issue. last year Great Expression purchased Birchtree and kept the staff and i expressed my desire to find another dentist, but the staff there assured me they wouldn't be a problem with their accounting system. on February 2019. I had some cleaning done. I paid what I owed on the spot, But now on 7/11/2019 i get the bill to pay again what i alreday paid. here we go again. I will pay it and then I will spend a lot of time to recover it. This is the worst dentist center you would ever encounter. The front desk staff were rude and have of no concept of customer service. Worse their working hours are atrocious. Be prepared for your child to miss a lot of school and God forbid you request a late evening appointment (3:30 pm or after), you would have to face the wrath of the front desk staff. Every time I visit this place, there is always some customer arguing and fighting with these inconsiderate people!!! Makes me wonder which customer service school these folks ever went to. Added to this, the orthodontics fees/package is one of the most expensive (what I get for not doing due research!!!). You would think with such high fees, the work would be of good quality. This is the worst dental center among all the Great expression centers. The front reception are trained very well in being rude, not helpful and unprofessional. The Dentists are greedy and just want your money. My 10 year old son had gone for a cavity check and the orthodondist jumped on his case and hurried us into signing the paperwork for his braces. A real rip off. I am reporting this place to my insurance company. I did a deep cleaning with them in July 2014. They told me to come back for regular cleaning in 3 months which I did. They got me to do another deep cleaning and scheduled another appointment in 3 months. I have since cancelled all my appointments with them. I spoke with my colleagues and they told me the same thing too. They will push for all kinds of services that you don't usually need. They rip you and your insurance company off. I have had such an unfortunate time at the Canton office. I came in for a general check up and with a tooth problem, that resulted in a root canal, which didn't surprise me. However, during my first visit, I was told they didn't have time for a cleaning and made me come in the following week for that (2nd appointment), fine I can live with that. I also had to come in two days after that for the root canal procedure (3rd appointment). Halfway during my appointment, I was then told they didn't have enough time to finish my root canal and would finish the rest of the procedure in another week (???). During this initial root canal treatment, Dr Baiz BARELY numbed me and I felt all of the root work. He ended up hitting something (a nerve?) that made me bleed quite a bit and so they ended there. I dealt with this pain for quite a few days, and then returned for my fourth appointment. During this, Dr Baiz said I did not need to be numbed which was COMPLETELY untrue. This was when they were drilling into the roots of my tooth, cleaning out the pulp, all of which I felt. Not only was I in this pain, and nearly crying on the chair, the assistant was pushing the suction so hard into the side of my mouth that eventually I flinched in pain, and Dr Baiz nicked the side of my tongue which resulted in even more bleeding, and an injury that I sustained for an entire week. Dr Baiz told me that I was "difficult" and my "tongue was really in the way so he nicked it". Not once did he tell me that I needed to move my tongue over more. And sorry, but I was a bit more focused on the tool being jammed in the side of my mouth and the drills going into my roots, I guess. This is also the appointment where Dr Baiz broke a piece of the file tool into my tooth, which resulted in much more hell for me. It is a common issue for sure, but when you are being so rough in my mouth, I am not surprised. So I got scheduled for another appointment, a MONTH away, at the Livonia Specialty office. In the meantime, Dr Baiz did a terrible job giving me a temporary tooth. It wasn't connected right, even though I told him it didn't feel great, and it LITERALLY HAD A HOLE IN IT. It was so thin, and even though I didn't chew on it, it broke a few days later. This was when I saw how truly thin and fragile it was since it crumbled out of my mouth. So I had to make my FIFTH appointment to get a new temporary tooth. During this visit, they then said I had to get my impression done and needed to make ANOTHER appointment. I am a full time student AND work full time. I have had to take off so much unnecessary time off from class and work. I come in for the SIXTH appointment for literally ten minutes for them to do the impression and then replace my temporary tooth they literally had just did the previous day. Why couldn't that have been done the previous day when I was already there? So then they order my crown, and tried to schedule me to get my crown placed before I even went to the specialist for the file piece in my tooth. I thought this was weird, so I asked them to ask the doctor if that was fine. Dr Baiz said it was fine, and sure enough, when I went to my seventh appointment at the specialty office, they literally said "oh thank god you made a good call" when I told them I refused to get the permanent crown before dealing with the file piece. They would have had to drill into the ~$800 crown I was getting. Fun. The Livonia office was amazing. After my consultation, they scheduled me for the procedure to deal with the file and ensured me they would finish it in one appointment. They took such good care of me, gave me a ton of stuff to numb my tooth, and the procedure was actually kind of fun! No pain, was well informed of exactly they were doing, and left finally confident about my tooth health. Then, I had to returned to get my crown placed, my ninth and final appointment. It's finally over, but the experience I had at Canton was ...extreme. I will say, their staff is incredibly friendly & Jon, the manager, was very helpful when I had questions & concerns. They definitely need to look into their standards & patient comfort far more, though. Stay far away from Dr Baiz. I'll be switching offices. read more

I would leave 0 stars if that were an option. They were rude to me when I tried telling them that my crown they had put in was not properly formed. They adjusted it once and the doctor told me he would fix it again if it still wasn't biting right, I called later that same morning to tell him that it still wasnt right and he informed the office staff before I called that if I still had pain then I needed a root canal and that there was no other explanation so they refused to make the appointment to adjust the bite on the filling. I requested a refund which they refused stating the services were rendered and therefore their job was done. They sent me to a different office to have them evaluate my tooth and the dentist at that office was polite and thorough, he adjusted the bite and took xrays and told me I never needed a root canal in the first place which is what I went in for originally because that is what Dr. Baiz told me I needed before changing to just a crown. Since that adjustment I have had no pain, but the other office performed a $4,400 procedure and then wanted to perform another $4,400 procedure for no reason at all. All I needed in the first place was a filling repaired, that was it, but the office on North Canton Center wanted yo make me pay an arm and a leg and did unnecessary procedures. Another dentist office I have spoken to said that without insurance they change $900 for a root canal, where after the 70% my insurance covered I had to pay Great Expressions $1350, they over charge and don't provide complete care, they are rude and inconsiderate, save your time and money and go somewhere else. read more

Two members of our family came to Great Expressions dental in Canton for a cavity filling and both are needing to be replaced now. Mine was done very poorly and not packed enough so there was an air bubble inside the filling. The same thing happened to my mom's filling. We both went to a new dentist and have to return there to correct Great Expressions' poor job. Because of the hollow filling, a hole developed on top of it, which is now cracking across the top of the filling. I got this filling about two years ago, and to have to pay for it to be done again is extremely frustrating. read more

We went here for several years and hated it (unfortunately this was one of the only places our dental insurance covered). Multiple times we were called back late (up to 30-40 min late) and a couple of times they never called us and we had to go up front and ask why (turns out they thought we were a no show even though we had signed in and they never called our name just to make sure). I was hit several times in the head with the x-ray machine. They told my husband that he had mouth cancer, which he did not (confirmed by his doctor). The service was routinely horrible. When I had a horrible toothache and called the Dentist she yelled at me for calling after 5 pm ....told me she had already left for the day and wasn't about to deal with this problem... I ended up going to Urgent Care and have cancelled all my family appointments. Here I am with a horrible tooth ache and all she can do is yell ... don't need that in my life.
