This company has shown a disturbing disregard for public safety and an alarmingly careless attitude toward employee conduct. While walking my dog last week, one of their workers approached from behind at full speed on a commercial lawnmower, forcing us off the sidewalk without any warning. We had made a conscious effort to maintain a safe distance from the equipment, yet were still quite literally run off a public walkway. What's worse is that there was a large open field the worker could have used--but instead, he chose the most hazardous route, endangering us unnecessarily. I contacted the company directly to report the incident and have received no response, no acknowledgment, and certainly no accountability. It's deeply concerning that a company entrusted with maintaining grounds at our public schools--places where children play and families walk daily--would employ individuals who demonstrate such recklessness. We shouldn't have to worry about whether we're safe on our own sidewalks. read more

This company is a rip off. DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT get snow removal service from them. They will rip you off. You can have no snow or ice and they will salt you to death. It could be 50 degrees out and they will salt you. Greedy, just want to get your $. They will claim to come in early in the morning and send you bill after bill. They have an all inclusive plan, that is expensive, and if you take a lesser plan you will end up paying more than that. Customer service stinks also. Very rude. Only after your money. I will personally send this message to all I know. They are a construction company that should not be in the plowing business. read more

GLL designed and installed our new landscape and did a great job. Our designer, Andy, created a beautiful plan coming back several times for changes and to show us samples. Our foreman, Jaime and his crew were quick and efficient during the installation. The guys worked hard every day never resting on their shovels. They repaired all the collateral damage and the results look great. The only thing that keeps me from giving them 5 stars is they nicked one of my sprinkler lines and I'm waiting for the repair. read more

Mike, our salesman took the time to listen to our wish list and then he provided an itemized quote with options. He also made some suggestions that we had not considered. They transformed our house from one of the least attractive on our street, to one of the sharpest homes on the block. Great Lakes Landscaping did a fantastic job of redoing my landscaping and patio. The landscaping needed a face lift so I worked with the team on designing the new layout around the house with new plants, flowers and scrubs. It was modest and simple and brought out the features on my home. Two pine trees did not make it through the winter and GLL replaced them with new trees, no questions asked. The best part was the new entrance, walkway and patio. We worked together on the paver selections and they came up with a great design. GLL also worked with me on the design of wood burning grill. I ordered the inset for the grill and they designed the grill around it. It is definitely the show piece of the patio. The team was great. The project started in September and they worked very hard and fast to get it all done before it got too wet and cold. Overall, the entire staff was great to work with. Estimates and invoices were provided quickly and were accurate. The design team was collaborative in working with me to build my vision. And of course, a big thanks to the crew who worked from early in the morning until to dusk each day to get the job done. read more

I recently hired Great Lakes Landscaping Co. to trim two large maple trees in my yard. Everyone that I met was very friendly and helpful. They were on time for all appointments, and when finished, the trees looked great! Very happy with my experience and would definitely hire them again. Also, the price was less than other quotes I received. Only word of advice, if possible, be there when they start working so they know exactly what you want done! Just had a 200 square ft patio replaced by GLL. This included removing and disposing of old patio blocks and three sections of concrete. These guys are good! The patio is beautiful. It really has the WOW effect. They arrived at the time and date stated and completed the work in about 14 hours over two days. Andy quoted the project and oversaw the completion. Jamie( project leaded), Dave and Mike completed the project and did so with skill and precision. I am very pleased as you can tell, and the cost was VERY reasonable. read more

WORST place ever. I'd rather have my 12 year old cousin come do my yard work. Dishonest, didn't deliver what they said. Paid over $2500 for $100 worth of grass. Then wouldn't return to fix the job. Very disappointed and upset. Such a headache and a waste of money. And I still have barely any grass. read more

I called to have them come out to our home to give us an estimate for removing a ton of tall, thick brush from our yard, as well as a couple tree stumps and some arborvitaes/bushes. I received a bad impression right off the bat- on the phone with a lady and she's talking over me trying to understand what I want done, after I had simply told her that we just wanted some thick brush removed. I could tell that she was older. Then she transferred me to the "scheduler", who also talked over me while I was speaking! Rude! Anyways, I scheduled for someone to come out, and the day comes, and he isn't there. I get a call about 10 minutes past the appt time from the guy, who ended up being the owner (he was also older), saying he lost our address and was (obviously) running late. He was about 20 minutes late, not that big of a deal if I hadn't already been irritated with the company to begin with. He gets there and we're walking around the property, explaining to him what we want done. He's taking pictures of certain areas, fine. However, anytime we asked him a question, he didn't seem to be able to answer it confidently for us, or he would mumble something as he walked away from us. We just did NOT get a good feeling from this guy. A few days prior, we had another company come out and give us an estimate- Budget Tree Service out of Washington Twp @ 27 Mile- now that guy was awesome. So, following that, this company, Great Lakes, was a HUGE disappointment, waste of time. Great Lakes quoted us by the hour- he told us "3 guys for 2 days at 48 hours" and wrote $3,500 on the estimate to only remove the brush, and a couple stumps. What!? That didn't even make sense! When we questioned it, he said again he'd have 3 guys out here and it would probably take 2-3 days. Ugh, whatever. Budget Tree Service quoted us $3,000, said he'd have 5 guys there and would be done in 1-2 days, and said they'd not only remove the brush, but rototill and grade the areas that were worked so that we wouldn't have the weeds/brush grow back and we could plant grass, then he'd also include the removal of the stumps, removal of any small shrubs/trees that we wanted, AND he'd rototill the garden that we had staked out and planned!!! It was a no brainer that this Great Lakes company definitely was not worth the price quoted to us. When we asked Great Lakes about removing any trees, he just stated that, "it would cost more". I'm sure they do nice work with simple landscaping and planting or whatnot, but when it comes to heavy duty jobs like brush removal, etc, getting an estimate from them was a complete waste of our time. read more
