Please do not go! Terrible experience here. The staff are very comfortable being unprofessional. They can't schedule a road test but took me to the location just to bring me back without taking a test. Was a terrible experience communicating with the staff! They never follow up when they tell you that they would. If you're are considering because of the cheaper prices I can assure you that it is not worth the price drop. School is terrible ! I don't even know where to begin. For one I purchased the package which includes 10 lessons , 5 hour course and a scheduled driving test. I should have known the first red flag was when I was able to schedule all my lessons, later down the line I would receive calls to try and reschedule MY current lessons for the convenience of them because they would not book with enough time between the lessons, mind you there are so big on cancellation fees but no care to try and reshedule. Second red flag no professionalism within the business including the instructor. The instructor talks to you as if you're a friend constantly on their phone, and even talking on the phone while suppose to be "teaching" you. From someone who deals with anxiety and always been extremely paranoid to drive I thought the best option would be signing up for a school to teach me the correct way and have patience. Welp, I was wrong. I've had many lessons where I felt my instructor would get loud and have a high tone when I was not doing the right thing almost as if he was annoyed to teach me which again this is a school where you are suppose to know how to work with all sorts of new drivers. I feel speaking in that form can honestly lead to an accident. Another thing is the constant lateness. On my very first lesson I noticed the condition of the vehicle was not okay. It made noises while driving and already made me feel super uncomfortable. For my second lesson my instructor called me ahead of time and notified me he was running late which great right, very good at communicating but then, this became a regular thing where he would be 10-15 up to 20 mins late and no call no update NOTHING. I have had to call the office to get an update on if my appointment is still even scheduled or to find out where he was. I believe my 3rd lesson, was where I realized wow is this even a school because in the middle of me driving I slightly hit a construction panel that was on the street floor, and I drove very slow over it and the entire bumper fell off. This lead to cutting my lesson short and rescheduling because the car now needed to get fixed. Following this I then waiting for my next lesson and here I now have an entire new car where I now have to learn as its more updated car. This was a newer car with cameras which again great but not for someone who is here to learn and try to pass their drivers test because when I am doing the exam I cannot use the camera to assist me. Many times I attempted to park my instructor would constantly tell me to look at the camera which again how would this help me for MY exam. He would constantly get frustrated with me because I would not look and I would repeat well during my exam I would not have this so I don't want to rely on this camera. To end off my review.. I know have reached my last two lessons where I purposely requested for it to be scheduled closer to my road test date so I can be refreshed. This is where I finally realized something is definitely off or this is some sort of SCAM. I was first told I would be placed on a road rest list and once an opening comes up I will be booked and receive a notification from the DMV. I understood no problem. Let me just clarify I began these lessons in October of 2025 it was in Nov 12th 2025 that they informed me of the "wait list" which no issue. Now I continue to wait on Nov 20th I receive this PDF document stating they recently replaced the old vehicle with a brand new vehicle, they have submitted all documents to the DMV "in September" but the DMV has been backed up. This meant the vehicle was not registered to take to a road test and claimed the DMV was so backlogged which caused so many delays overall. For the sake of the inconvenience they offered to add two additional lessons and had the audacity to add if I wish to go take the test on my own using a personal vehicle "and PASS" they would offer a free highway lesson. I couldn't honestly do nothing but laugh because why would I ever want to go back to this school especially if I have to go out my way and find a vehicle , PASS and then get this free lesson. Anyway fast forward its the ending of December I received no update no follow ups so I decided to reach out and ask for one. I was pretty much reiterated and told the same thing with no estimate of how long this process would take. They claimed there is a delay in the DMV granting approvals to take student to the test with their vehicle, which to be quite honest as a business and school how are you even running if you can't even complete the entire process due to the vehicle itself which is a super red flag. Now I continued to wait we are now in January of 2026 I received no follow up no update, so I once again contacted them and guess what the school now refused to answer ANY of my calls or emails sent and I even followed up after that and was told absolutely nothing. I took a 5-package deal with my road test; I have some concerns about this school. I drove with a broken-down car with a shattered mirror on the passenger side and was very hard to see my blind spots, also the shield guard was scraping against the floor, this is very unprofessional to teach students how to drive. Only when I complained about these problematics then they decided to make adjustments to the car. I kept reminding them that my permit was coming to an expiration and if I needed more lessons I would have gladly purchased but when I called the office to book appointments no one was ever available to schedule for me. read more

On a positive note, I passed my road test. These two driver instructors: Erica and Krystle, get 5 stars from me. (I passed thanks to them). Now for the nitty-gritty of it all: - scheduling is very unreliable. - Only one car is registered for the road test (you have to be vocal about using that car at least by the end of your lessons just to get acquainted with it or else you might just end up driving it for the first time the day of the test. (They did mention they were on the process of registering one more car) - Some of the other cars need a MAJOR upgrade - You don't always have the instructor of your preference. There's A LOT of last minute changes/cancellations with appointments and you end up with whom ever is on the day's shift (take it or leave it) Front desk staff are usually the face of the business on an everyday basis and they do try their best, though they are limited in how much they can do with company related decisions. Angel is a skilled instructor who takes the time to connect with his students and ensure that they pass their exams and are cautious drivers. He allotted time during each lesson to perfect the skills that needed improvement and conveniently picked me up for all sessions. James was also a wonderful instructor with a welcoming personality with a trusting presence. Constructive criticism: The professionalism of the business could use some upkeep. For example, paperwork could have been more prioritized, and managing my future lessons was a hassle. The reminder calls were helpful, but they weren't routinely made. In hindsight, I would have appreciated more structure in when and how the lessons were given. Nevertheless, my experience with the driving school was pleasurable, and I passed my road test on the first try!! Note: I was away at school for a few months between my lessons and the road test. I don't usually give 5 stars to places (nor do I leave a lot of reviews), but this place deserves all 5 stars and a review. After failing my road test over 10 years ago, I decided to give it another go and picked OWD as my driving school based on the reviews here. All the instructors I had (Walter, Erica, Jeremy, Rob just before the exam) were overall great teachers who not only showed me the tips and tricks for the road test and driving in general but also instilled a lot of confidence in me while I was behind the wheel, even when I was at my most nervous. Also, I got a lot out of the 5-hour class that was taught by Angel. This is the most encouraging group of people who want you to do well. It's a two-way street (no pun intended) -- come in open-minded and willing to learn, and they will help you as much as they can. I had no issues with scheduling lessons (even doing it week-by-week with my schedule) and with the reception when I had questions/requests. They also call you the day before to confirm/remind as a courtesy--a really nice touch. After 2-3 months of lessons (I had the 15-class package plus 1 extra before the test), I took the test in Fresh Meadows and passed with flying colors, thanks to them. TLDR: great instructors who look out for you, courteous reception, would recommend!! read more

I got a three lesson package because I had a little bit of driving experience. It's a small operation that doesn't exactly have a professional veneer, but they were helpful, friendly, and supportive. When I missed a lesson they charged a reasonable fee but were very understanding. All the instructors I interacted with were friendly and gave me good advice for passing the road test. Erika was a particularly good instructor, and fun to chat with while we drove. The five-hour class checked all the necessary boxes as painlessly as possible. And I passed my road test! read more

They will tell you all the wrong things you can do to fail the exam and what things to look out for; but more importantly ... tell you all the things you're doing right to make you feel more confident. Where do I start, I was a nervous wreck. Scared to take my road test, but Angel makes you feel so calm. He's caring and understanding and makes you feel confident. The five hour class is very helpful, and personal, you really come out of there feeling like you learned a lot. The team of girls in the office are sweet and helpful, and always flexible. They call you to remind you the day before for your lesson so that you don't forget. It was finally the day for the road test, and passed in one shot! In Angels words "you got this"! He was proud! I would avoid this "school" at all costs. I'm writing this review two years late because I finally decided to give driving lessons a try again, and wanted to give other fellow students a heads up. I came here during the summer of 2017 to learn how to drive, 21 yrs old at the time. I signed up for 10 classes because it was my first time learning how to drive and my family didn't have a car I could practice with. I spent most of my lessons with Ralf in their beat up old grey/green car. Ralf was unprofessional during our lessons, taking calls, looking at his phone, barely paying attention to my driving skills. I had at most 3 classes with Angel in their newer red car-- which later presented itself as a problem during the road test. My road test was scheduled at cunningham park, it was not a bad testing site. However, considering that I was a brand new driver testing in a car that I had barely practiced in was a difficult task for me. I failed my road test. womp womp womp. It happens. The one star is not because I failed the road test. The one star is because of the lack of attention I felt was provided to me during my lessons. It was also because Angel gave me the creepiest vibe, I felt uncomfortable being in the car with him sometimes. In fact, there was one time where he put his hand on the wheel, and then started touching my bracelet and talking about how pretty it was. His hand there for a little too long. In conclusion, both instructors are extremely unprofessional. Save your money and go elsewhere. read more

Stay clear. I went here and got the 6 class package feeling that would be enough for the road test. Since before I even took a lesson Angel was insistent I register for more. Yet I was driving a lot during my free time with family teaching me. I felt nervous before the test (but even with school I'm a nervous test taker), but confident in my abilities. However during every lesson, I was running errands for him. My first lesson, he called me a nervous driver (he told me to move out of the way because a cat was in the street, yet if I had done that during the test, it would not have gone over well). And had a personal call during the lesson through the Bluetooth speaker in the car which was extremely distracting. My second lesson, he had me drive down Myrtle avenue during rush hour, so it was packed and moving slow -- so not only did that in itself feel like a waste of the 45 minutes, but to top it off I had to make two stops for him. He needed to stop at the bank to take out money, then we stopped further along Myrtle so he could drop off the money (and have a conversation with the man). He's made me at the beginning of lessons fill up the tank and count that as time during the lesson. He's made comments about my looks as well as my mother's when he saw he pick me up after the lesson. One time there was a lot of traffic and at one point he said to go, so I started turning and he slammed on the breaks and said, "Why would you go?! You could've caused an accident!" At another point he had told me something about parking and I brought it up during the next lesson and he said that he never said that and sorry if I thought he said that but would never tell me such a thing. I failed my road test. Granted, I could've used a few more lessons. But more just because his lessons were such a waste. Find somewhere else to go. read more

My experience with One Way Driving was great from start to finish. I'm 21 and this was my first time attempting to get my license and of course I didn't want to waste my time and money. I found O.W.D on Yelp and there were so many reviews giving this place praise so I gave it a try. And it was worth it. I got the 6 lesson package which was $270 and included 6 - 45 min lessons, their car for the test, scheduling of the road test, and the 5 - hour pre-licensing course. I put down $150 as a deposit and then brought $30 with me the next 4 classes, however I personally didn't feel ready yet as my road test date was approaching so I just added 3 more classes $30 each. The prices seemed reasonable to me but in total I paid $360 for 9 lessons (the 6 lesson package + 3 additional lessons) and the 10 lesson package was 370 so just a heads up really think about how much practice you'll need. They also have 3, 15, and 20 lesson packages. There is a small staff 2 driving instructors Angel and Ralph, and 2 receptionists. Overall everyone was professional and polite but the owner Angel is really a genuine man who cares for all of his students. Since day one he made the experience personal and made sure I feel comfortable and relaxed. During lessons he sometimes shared his personal experiences throughout life or he'd sing lol which I didn't mind at all. It made the lesson feel more laid back instead of nerve wrecking. When it comes to driving he really knows what he's talking about. His tips and tricks for parking and 3-point turning were really helpful during my road test, and he helped me learn how to cut the wheel and let it go so you get a smooth turn because that was a big issue for me. As we got closer to the test date he would be more serious during lesson because he really wanted to make sure I would get it right under pressure during the test and make sure that Ralph was not as dedicated of an instructor and his can smelled like cigarettes which being a non-smoker irked me a little if you have a choice take your lessons with Angel however Ralph is also a decent instructor The 5-hour class was of course long but not as dreadful as I expected. Like I said before Angel makes the experience 100% personal. Sharing his experiences helped to make the road precautions they warn you about stick in your head. If I had to do it all over again I'd still choose One Way. And I recommend it to all of my friends who tell me they're trying to get their license because I honestly feel the experience is totally worth it. read more

Felt harrassed during lessons and I switched instructors immediately. Be professional and don't ask people personal questions! I'm here to learn to drive not be harrassed! I passed my road test, yayyy. They are pretty good at teaching and show you techniques to pass the test but the 2 stars are for their lack of professionalism. All employees are very nice and seem to generally want to help you but dont seem to know how. 1). The cars are ancient and beat up. One of the cars has no handle and both are dirty. I dreaded stepping into either car. If your car is going to be beatup you should at least go out of your way to make it clean! 2). Picking up phone calls, filling up the tank, going to the store. etc etc.. These are things you do before or after a lesson when you do not have Clients. You overbook and make customers help with your errands is not fair because all we want to do is practice !! Either hire more instructors or put breaks in between lesson because it is unprofessional. 3. Last but not least!! When you are alone with someone in a car there are things you do not do to avoid people from feeling uncomfortable ! your nephew Jeremy especially.!! When I was in the car he would put his hand on mine often when grabbing the wheel and make comments that were inappropriate. He was very helpful as far as driving tips but really did make me feel uncomfortable. I actually wanted to tell you, Angel, but you went on and told me how another girl complained just because she wanted her money back and figured you wouldn't believe or hear me out. I don't think you all intentionally plan to make people feel uncomfortable but seem to be unaware of professional boundaries and could benefit from a sexual harassment training. Overall I would say this establishment offers cheap prices and good advice but you will have to deal with some annoying things. I passed my road test so there is no denying that you all are great drivers but did wish I had a better more professional experience. So much good things to say about my experience here, I dont know where to start. One Way Driving School was the first driving school I went to and don't regret anything. If I had to do it again I would not hesitate to pick this driving school. The environment, staff and service there was great. Angel and Ralph are the driving instructors there and they both are very knowledgeable and very dedicated to their job in helping their studuents pass their road test. The vibes they have is a positive one and both are there to teach you to their best ability and won't stop/ or give up on you. They will encourage you to do your best and never give up, also will make your experience a great one. Pricing here is affordable and lessons booking was great, it worked around my work and class schedule. Booking goes on a first come, first serve. When i started my lessons, I did many mistakes but the instructors were there to guide and were patient with me, in correcting and explaining to me what I needed help on also giving postive feedback when I drove safely. It was a happy and sad experience here. It was a happy experience because this was the first time driving and going for my drivers license also passing my first time taking it. But then again sad because I won't be in the car with the caring, funny, smart, and dedicated driving instructors. The bond you create with them & driving makes you feel comfortable and like family. I won't forget what I learned here and am very blessed/ greatful I chose One Way Driving. Thanks to Angel and Ralph i have my drivers license. When choosing a driving school I saw this one which was close to my house and saw it only had two reviews so I was a little nervous about how they actually performed. I am so glad I gave them a try! I bought ten lessons and got one free. I took my road test and passed on the first try this morning. I have never taken any lessons anywhere else. They were super helpful and if you're a first time driver they are very understanding and patient. If i could give this place a whooping ZERO i definitely would. 6 months ago, my boyfriend used one way driving for a few lessons and then proceeded to register for the driving exam. None of of the staff kept their duty to hand him the correct papers for the test so when showing up for the driving exam he was told he cannot take it. He had to reschedule for another day, taking his own time to go to the end of queens when he was prepared to take it 2 weeks before. I thought maybe he just fell into bad luck so i decided to use the same place for my road test. But of course, not only did they loose my application, they also sent me to the wrong driving exam location and i was late for my road test. This place is nothing but a dump!!!
