We have been coming to Nantucket every summer for over 20 years. Each year, we rent a house for several weeks with enough bedrooms so our kids and grandkids can join us. Over the years, we've worked with a couple of different real estate agents but weren't especially happy with them. Last summer, a friend who owns a home on island recommended we contact Laura Belair at Great Point Properties. Laura has been outstanding. She listened carefully to what we were looking for in a rental home and responded quickly with several excellent possibilities. She answered our questions with detailed, thoughtful information and seemed to know each home so well it almost felt like she was in the home at the time. As impressive as she was in helping us select the right property, she's been even better since we arrived on island. Our plane landed mid-morning.She arranged for us to get into the home a little earlier than the standard move-in time. We were greeted with gifts, snacks, and even a bottle of wine -- a thoughtful and generous touch. When we discovered a problem with the cable TV setup, she quickly contacted the homeowner, who was vacationing in Europe, and asked her to submit a request to Comcast. A technician came out shortly thereafter. When we couldn't find one of the cable outlets, Laura recalled that there was a junction box near the floor -- and sure enough, there it was. Her photographic memory saved the day. She also responded immediately when we accidentally locked ourselves out of the house -- at 9 o'clock on a Sunday night. She let us know there was a lockbox on the back porch and gave us the combination. Great Point Properties manages over 800 properties. I don't know if Laura knows every square inch of all of them -- but she seems to know this one almost as well as if she lived here herself. Beyond her professionalism, Laura is simply a pleasure to work with -- knowledgeable, enthusiastic, responsive, and completely on top of every detail. read more

I was interested in renting 58 Prospect St with a group of friends in September and reached out to Great Point Properties via their inquiry form on their website. Nicole Bousquet from Great Point reached out to me the next day on 3/23 via phone and I shared with her what I was looking for. She said she would reach out to the owner and if that didn't work out, she would share some additional properties that might work. I followed up with her the following week on 3/28 and heard nothing back. I assumed it may have been Spring Break and she may be out of the office so I sent one last follow up email on 4/3, also to which I received no response. I called Great Point Properties later that week at (508) 228-2266 to check if there might be another agent I could work with, but the receptionist let me know that Nicole would be the point person for what I was looking for. She was incredibly apologetic and let me know that she was reaching out to Nicole immediately and I should hear back shortly. A few days later, I decided to give Nicole a final call on her mobile and she responded via text that she would call me right back. I still have not heard from her. I would have just appreciated if she could have let me known that she was too busy to take this on or if there was any other reason for her radio silence instead of leaving me hanging. Overall, I'm disappointed by limited experience with Great Point and have found them to be incredibly unprofessional. read more

We rented 19 Pilgrim Lane, our children from two different cities and our new granddaughter were joining us. The homeowner had clearly not readied the house for our arrival. Great Point took three days to mitigate the situation. The pool furniture was broken with rips and mildew on the cushions. The pool furniture had to be replaced. The porch and all the porch furniture had to be power washed. The cushions on the porch furniture were covered with mold and had to be washed. The porch and railings had mold and bird droppings all over. This had to be power washed. The yard was in disarray with weeds over 4 ft tall, clearly, no one had worked in the yard in weeks. The cleaning crew had to come back and clean everything before we could allow our granddaughter on the floors. The pool water was not clean until Tuesday when the pool people came. . . we just stayed out of the pool until it was cleaned. It was very disappointing. We had to go back to Great Point Properties time and again to get them to get the house in good working order. We too requested two of the three days rental fee, they said they mitigated everything in a timely manner. I do not consider three days with an army of worker timely. Great Point kept pointing out their legal obligation which wasn't much. In addition the house has construction directly behind the rental. The owner sold off some of his property to build two houses. If you like trucks and noise then this is your house. This project will be ongoing for quite awhile. So for three of the seven days of the rental we had many, many around workers around and could not utilize the entire house while everyone was in and out or around in the yard. I will be going back to Maury People for our next rental. read more

We had the opportunity to enjoy Nantucket with our family and my sister was to meet us there with hers! It was for the week of the 4th of July! Upon entering the home we rented, it appeared to be very nice. We weren't there a day before the air on the main floor went out. Fortunately, we were able to leave the doors open that day and get a breeze. Unfortunately, the very next day- it rained. Now- its hot, and it's raining. Not only is it raining.. but it is raining a lot. Suddenly, an alarm goes off. It wouldn't stop. We called Sconset Real Estate/ Great Point and asked them to help with a code for the alarm. They wouldn't give it to us. Instead, they let us sit there for over an hour with a piercing noise going off nonstop. It was so loud! My husband located the problem and found the flood alarm had been triggered. Yes, the house was flooding. The rep came over and tried scooping water up with pots and pans. Then the house sitter came and she put in a code that could've easily been shared over the phone with us rather than us have to sit there and listen to the extremely loud alarm. Nonetheless, day 2 consisted of people in and out of the house trying to scoop up water and clean up the mess. The bottom floor was clearly not going to be able to be used. We had to cancel my sister and her husband and their 5 kids from joining us. The rest of the week, we had people in and out. Usually unannounced walking in and out on their own accord. Sometimes directly through the bottom floor.. other times right through the main floor. The sound of the loud fans attempting to dry the flooded basement kept us up at night and was annoying during the days. Did I mention -No privacy whatsoever!? So we had a nice mix of mildew and heat working against us for a few days. They finally fixed the air on one of our last days there! This clearly was not the 1st time this has happened. They didn't seem to be fazed by this at all. Sconset Real Estate really dropped the ball on this one! We travel everywhere and very often. This was my 1st time in Nantucket and while the island itself is wonderful, and we will be back- we will never trust nor will we use Sconset Real Estate again! Considering, they ruined two families vacations, when we asked them to credit us for the days we couldn't enjoy the home, they scoffed at us and were surprised. No compensation for our grief nor staying in the place not worth was being charged was offered. They didn't try to make anything work. They didn't offer to fix anything, we had to contact them time and time again. We finally convinced them to give us our security deposit and 1 nights stay. I am pretty sure she drunk dialed my husband as well! I strongly suggest, if you are going to spend $25,000.00 for a week in Nantucket. Do not spend it with them. Spend it somewhere else!!!!!!!!! I don't know which is worse, the owners of the home who didn't see a problem with any of this and were against refunding us, or the management company who didn't bother to fight for us, considering our privacy was violated. PS- There's a public walking path behind the home..we weren't able to enjoy the inside of the home because of everyone in and out working on it.. we also weren't able to enjoy the outside because the house sits at the end of a public walking path. People would literally stand in the back yard! NO PRIVACY! read more
