    Breakfast at your door!

Oh... what's not to love about the Sherburne Inn. This lovely B&B is located in town, about three short blocks from Main St. There is a beautiful garden to the side of the Inn which we enjoyed. We live in NY sans a backyard, so we took the opportunity to eat our breakfast in the Adirondack chairs. They also have a little bike rack to the side of the garage where you can lock your bikes. Bike rental is highly recommended. The Inn has an old feel but it's painted with fresh light colors. The room that we stayed in was fairly large, "exclusively romantic" was its given name. There are no elevators but that is typical for many inns in Nantucket. Susan, the inn keeper was a delight, dropping out bountiful baskets of buttermilk cinnamon coffee cake, (and other days butterscotch coffee cake) - both to die for, served with yogurt and fruit. The inn typically has 3 (maybe even 4) night minimums during peak season. If you have been to Nantucket, you want to stay there for 3-4 nights - minimum. You pay the full amount up front which is kind of nice because you don't have such a dreadful credit card bill once you return from your trip - you only have the restaurants and the other purchases. We were accommodated in every way imaginable. The only thing that we could have used more of was towels and they gladly brought those up when we asked. The street was quiet and charming. When my fiance and I got ENGAGED at sconset sunrise, we came back to the Sherburne Inn garden to eat breakfast and call our parents. I will always remember the Sherburne Inn because they celebrated with us. Susan was taking our photos in the garden and that night they brought us flowers, cookies and a congratulatory note! I highly recommend this place and plan on staying her when I return to Nantucket.

If you are looking for a lovely inn close to town (very much within walking distance to the ferry) then the Sherburne Inn is for you. Affordable by Nantucket standards, and worth every penny. This inn is comfortable and cozy without being too grandmotherly. The innkeepers are prompt, courteous and have a great attention to detail. Hospitality ooooozes from this place - especially welcome on an island where a lot of the newer B&Bs in town are ultra-modern outposts of snobbery. Breakfast is bountiful (town restricts warm, traditional breakfasts, but hearty continental fare is served here) and homemade breaskfast breads are delicious. Ownership has recently changed, but from what I hear, the service and charm of thisB&B have not.

Upon arrival, after Angel handles everything from the ferry, you are greeted by Fulya who is maybe the sweetest woman you will ever meet. Unfortunately you cant take her home with you, but she will make your stay as easy and convenient as possible. Unfortunately, my wife got a stomach bug on our trip, and because the concierge car was unavailable, Kate insisted that I use her PERSONAL vehicle to run to the pharmacy. If all of that isn't enough you have John, the head bartender, who not only makes one heck of an espresso martini, he works the bar like an ace! Again, 42 and I have been lucky enough to travel quite a bit, but the level of service that we received at the Nantucket Hotel, not only rivals, but surpasses any 5-star resort that we've ever stayed at. I have been coming to the Island since I was in the 6th grade and I will never go back without staying here. Angel, Kate, Fulya, and everyone else, thank you so much for the level of service and passion for your craft. We cannot wait to come back and really appreciate everything. REALLY SHOULD BE 30 STARS. Simply the best experience.

The staff from the maitre d who has been there for ever to the bartenders and servers, all top notch and friendly. I've dined with reservations for more of the fine dining feel, but also have casually rolled up to the bar and enjoyed the more relaxed vibe, but still great food. Again, Nantucket is expensive, but I find that the meal, service and ambiance warrants the price for a fun and memorable night out. Enjoy the walk back into town and soak in the fresh air!

The rate was spectacular, and the inn was even better, but the restaurant and bar is to die for! 5-star. Where to start? The staff is excellent, professional, exceptionally pleasant, and very accommodating. Our room was huge! Clean. Well stocked. Nice clean bathroom. We had tea in the common room in the afternoon; able to chat with other visitors - relaxing and quite pleasant. The restaurant was to die for. We made our reservation on Resy a week before. Everything was just incredible, starting with a mussel appetizer, cod and polenta/spinach dish, to the chocolate soufflé. The next morning we crossed the street to attend services at Saint Paul's Episcopal. Came back for a quick breakfast down stairs; the coffee was top-shelf, eggs perfectly made, and fresh fruit - can't beat any of that. We left our bag at the Inn, and went in town to shop, sip coffee, and take it all in. Picked up our bag and dropped it off at the Hyline building. Had lunch with local friends at Brant Point. The day, hotel, dinner, church, and lunch was all serendipitous. No negatives. Ship's Inn is one of the absolute best and well known inn and restaurant on the island.
