How do begin to describe a trip that you have been thinking about for 10 years. The words that come to mind are mind blowing, an incredible experience, a come back every year trip. What can be more exciting that spending 2 days on the water with best friends catching dinosaurs.. My experience from doing my research and finding Great River Fishing Adventures was been outstanding. Alyssa was amazing to deal with with fast responses to my emails and questions. Alyssa was amazing. Our guide Mitch went above and beyond for us for 2 days. Very professional, and knowledgeable about the area and was blast to be around on the boat. Mitch was with us the entire time battling the 6.6 and the 8 ft monsters that we landed. Made the experience and the trip worth it. He was one of boys on the boat and i would go fishing with mitch anytime. Thank you Mitch for making my 40th birthday bucket list trip everything that I had invisioned come true. I have never battled a fish of the size ever. No words can describe the excitement of having that reel scream and the sturgeon taking tonnes of line and watching the rod bend with such force a body builder would have a tough time holding on. Having your buddies encourage you on until you reach exhaustion and you pass the rod to your buddy and you cheer him on until you land that fish and take that epic picture of the sturgeon that took 4 of you to bring in. The memories and pictures will last a lifetime as well as the fishing stories that all of my friends and family will hear until they come and experience this trip on their own. I have been fishing with Great river fishing for a number of years. Hence when I wanted to go fishing there was only one choice. From the first contact with Alyssa to book the trip it was 1st class. I booked the trip as I wanted my son who is autistic to catch a sturgeon. It did not mater if it was only a small one, just as long as he caught one. We meet Landon our guide,at island 22 boat launch and were soon on our way. Landon explained to us the technique we were going to use, and it was fantastic to see how good he was explaining things to my son. He took the time to explain it very easy for him to understand. It was not long before the rod started moving and with the help of Landon, my son was fighting a Sturgeon. He coached him all the way until we had the Sturgeon at the side of the boat. We slowly made it over to a near by beach. The Sturgeon was 6 ft long, and my son was over the moon happy. Our day had been made all ready, any other fish would be a bonus. We re baited and cast again. We had many bites but no hooked fish until 2 hours later. Then we hooked in to a big fish. With the expert advise from Landon, 37 minutes later we had it on the beach. It was 10 ft long and approximately 525 pounds. We ended up catching 5 sturgeon on our trip. Great river fishing, and Landon gave us a fantastic day out fishing and I highly recommend them to anyone who wants a great experience and a fantastic day fishing. read more

This was an excellent experience from start to finish. We came in for 2 full days and a partial day of sturgeon fishing. It all starts with Alyssa!!! She got us setup and taken care of right off the start! Usually the company tries to keep you with the same guide each day. We had a different guide every day. We actually loved that. It was great seeing the different personalities and learning the different techniques each brought with them. Day 1 was slower and we only landed 2 fish, both quality fish. Michael was day 1 and he worked super hard to get us on fish. Day 2 was with Mitch. He was able to get us onto fish that day. We boated 11 and lost a few others. Steve was the guide for the last day. Again, a phenomenal experience. We landed 12 fish and lost a few others as well. He had to have been the most experienced as Mitch used one of Steve's hotspots the day before with us. All in all I recommend this outfit to anyone who is looking for a fun adventure. We were able to experience the personality and get an idea of how well the other guides are as well. Some would stop for a quick chat or make a quick call. The team seems to work very well together. There were 3 of us and we left feeling sore from catching lots of heavy fish. My dad and I booked a last minute fishing trip in hopes of catching some white sturgeon. We found Great River Fishing Adventures through trip advisors through its current five star rating. Let me tell you, it did not disappoint. It was a slow morning on the water as we landed one sturgeon. The river experienced some flooding and therefore had a lot of debris(tree branches and stumps) floating in the water which made it hard to fish in some locations so we found ourselves driving from spot to spot trying to find an ideal spot. After many spot changes, we finally found a great spot. The fishing was amazing in the afternoon as we landed 5 giant white sturgeon in a matter of a few hours! Our guide, Landon, was fantastic and never gave up, especially after the slow morning. He even stayed on the water an extra 45 minutes to account for all the time we spent driving from spot to spot. I feel like most fishing charter companies would end right at 4 o'clock, however, Landon, made sure to provide us with the quality fishing that we paid for. Because of the great fishing, the great service, and the little extra time on the water, we will definitely come back in the near future. In total, we landed 6 giant white sturgeon and it was one of the most fun times fishing I have ever had. read more

I went with two of my girlfriends from Ontario on a 6 hour sturgeon fishing trip with Istvan as our guide and we had a blast!!! It was soooo much fun and we had the best time ever! It was definitely one of the high lights of our trip. We have been fishing before but not like this. This was super exciting and was a bit of an adrenaline rush when we caught them! We were lucky and caught 3 large sturgeons on our trip! Istvan was a great guide and very knowledgeable when it came to everything! It was very cool and we learned lots from him which we loved. He also handled all of the fish we caught with great care. Organizing the trip was a breeze with the team of Great River Fishing Adventures. I was assured over a lovely phone call with Alyssa that we would have fun and we definitely did! It was great communicating with her before we left and the great communication helped us to be totally prepared for the trip! Great day on the Fraser River sturgeon fishing with my son and his buddy and our guide Istvan! The weather was beautiful and sunny, started out at 9am to the first spot and fished there for about half hour without any luck. Istvan spotted some sturgeon on the sonar but seems these ones weren't hungry. He decided to try a couple more spots which I thought was a great call instead of waiting in the same spot all day. While we waited for the prehistoric beasts to take the bait our friendly Hungarian guide told us of his fishing adventures around the world, my son and his friend loved it and recited his stories on the ride home haha! Finally a strike! Istvan grabbed the rod, set the hook and handed the rod to my son who enlisted the help of his friend as the mighty fish was too much for one 12 year old! 10 seconds later, another hit! Double header! As all 3 of us fought to bring both sturgeons in at the same time, Istvan gave pointers. Got them both to the boat, photo ops and released back to the wild. Hats off to our guide, Istvan, for his great knowledge of the river and the sturgeon.. and kept us entertained with his stories while we waited! read more

I booked a 4 hour trip for my husband's birthday, and we had such an amazing time. The perfect gift for anyone interested in fishing! Our guide was so great, he was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. He had already been out all morning with another group before he picked us up, but still had so much energy and passion and put so much effort into creating an awesome experience for us. The boat was great, really spacious and comfortable. I'm usually a bit nervous out on the water, but I was totally at ease. The gear was great too, and we had four high quality rods available to use. I would highly recommend this company to anyone - their guides are awesome; we saw a few more of them out on other tours while we were on our trip, and they all work so well together and share tips and information to help create the best experience for their guests. And to top it all off we actually caught a fish! We then gor to learn all about the tracking and recording process before releasing it. My husband had an absolute blast!! I recently stayed at the canyon riverside domes. They are very beautiful. lush green grass with the amazing Frazer river out in front of your domes. The inside is furnished like a honeymoon suite. Assume furnishings and everything you need for your stay. There is a beautiful shower with a wide open view of the property. I enjoyed the wood fired hot tub after a long day. This is a very quiet relaxing environment I have never stayed in such a comforting place. You can BBQ on the deck or just roast hot dogs over the firepit. The added bonus is if you would like you can also take a fishing trip on the Fraser river to fish for the White Sturgeon. The are the hardest fighting fresh water fish. They make spectacular jumps and long runs. It is a must have experience. This can all be arranged by Great River Fishing Adventures along with the rental of your dome. I have made this amazing fishing trip 4 times and plan of coming back next year. I fished with the owner Dean and one of his guides Landon. They both had me on huge fish every day. We had an incredible experience on the Frasers River in the canyon above Hope, BC the other day. I have fished , in the past, for Sturgeon on the lower part of the Fraser between Fort Langley and Chilliwack. And the experience was fun and productive. But nothing matches the experience of going into the Fraser River Canyon . Mitch Werk , our guide , knows the River in this area so well , with its rapids , eddies and pools. And the river's significance in its ecosystem. His commentary was educational and riveting. We were alone most of the time with , with the occasional Indigenous fishing rack on the bank, and the majestic mountains veering up from just beyond the banks. This Cathedral of Nature kept us gasping in awe. The fishing wasn't bad either. My grandson Cohen caught a 97 inch sturgeon, his uncle caught a 67 inch sturgeon and his father caught a 52 inch sturgeon. His mother had a hand in all the catches. My girlfriend and I could not have asked for a better day on the river. Myself, I couldn't have asked for a better birthday present than catching a fish as unique as the Sturgeon! Shawn, the guide on the tour was polite, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable about all kinds of fishing. He also handled baiting the hooks, ensuring we did not get wet, and had great stories to share of his past experiences. Within minutes of baiting up all four rods, he indicated that it was a sturgeon on the end of the line, and taught us how to set the hook and reel it in. It was definitely a once in a life time experience reeling in a fish bigger and heavier than I am. It was approximately 270lbs, 8 feet long, and 70 years old. I can only describe it as trying to catch a moose with a fishing pole. It required the whole boats participation in safely landing the fish, and releasing it after a one of a kind, photo that I will cherish forever. Both of us had an amazing time, and I am planning on booking another tour soon. read more

This was a trip that was a splurge for an experience that I could do with my son which we would both remember forever. It exceeded not just our basic measure of success or even out best-case hope. It was literally unfathomable before we got there and experienced it for ourselves. Our guide Mitch was great. Knowledgeable as well as enthusiastic to share his and his family's way of life (as well as patient with two anglers who weren't as polished as some of the people he'd likely have taken out.). I can't imagine being blessed to live on the Fraser and interact with these living dinosaurs every day. If I had better organized myself I should have stayed at your yurts or teepees as it would have been a fantastic topper to the whole thing. I can't possibly recommend you guys enough. We first went fishing with Great River 20 years ago and we were hooked (sorry) ever since! It is always an amazing experience year in and year out with great, knowledgeable, and fun guides. (Ben is still missed though). We were lucky enough to have a full circle experience and I brought my dad back out with Dean the owner of GRF. It was a great 20 year reunion as he first took us out on our inaugural trip and one of my best friends flew in from across the Country to join in catching some dinosaurs for his 3rd time! All three of us caught our personal bests and pulling in a 9'4 500lb beauty was the icing on the cake! 10 years ago, my cousin and I decided to fish White Sturgeon as a "Once in a Lifetime" trip. Well, we liked fishing with Great River Fishing so much, that here we are...10 years later and going every year. My wife and daughters (ages 21 and 25) said they would go once to satisfy me. Well, once has turned into twice and they are going with us next year! This year in early October, there were 7 family members....fished 3 days...landed 82 sturgeon with the largest at 9 feet 4 inches. I loved how Owner Dean Werk takes the time to teach everyone about the history of the White Sturgeon. He has taught us how to scan for tags, insert tags if necessary, do the proper paperwork and gently release these pre-historic fish back into the Fraser River. Great River Fishing Adventures is exactly that GREAT. I have been fortunate enough to experience various types of fishing with the team. I have been sturgeon fishing and salmon fishing with a couple of the guides. We were on the water on what seemed to be a slow day for sturgeon, that is for everyone else. Team guide Steve slid his boat into a spot that no one was having any luck. We ended up with a 10+ fish day. The experience and knowledge that he displayed as well as the passion that he has in the conservation of the fisheries makes you excited to be a part of such a trip. Tagging, scanning and releasing such a historic animal is an adrenaline filled event. Starting several months ago, we booked a two day charter w/Dean & Alyssa. Email correspondence and feedback from & between D&A was spot on. They answered every question we had along the way. D&A also handled all the licensing and lunches, so all we had to do was show up and go fishing! Due to our tight schedule the Great River team allowed us to start our fishing adventures far earlier than their normal times. Kudos and accolades for that. Last week we embarked on the two day trip w/guides Michael and Stefan. Both days and both guides were great! They both were patience and helpful. With their assistance we call caught a plethora of Sturgeon & pink salmon. Overall and in summary, the experience was 10 out of 10. Favorite fishing trip ever! Alyssa called me back immediately and had excellent customer service throughout the whole experience. Landon was an incredible guide! It was just Landon, my boyfriend and I on the boat. He was extremely patient, had a wonderful sense of humor and was very knowledgeable with the environment. The Canyon was beautiful with only 2 other boats in 8 hrs. We learned a lot and can't wait to come back. It was so convenient they picked us up at our hotel that they arranged for us and dropped us off. The food included was great; sandwich, potato salad, iced tea, chips, fruit, eggs, granola bar and rice cakes...we were so happy to buy some shirts, sweatshirt and decals to take home. Our family experience with Great River Fishing in July of 2024 was nothing short of amazing! Dean and Rick were our boat captains and guides. So much experience and knowledge was immediately apparent. Knowledge of the rivers, the fish and history was extensive! My husband and I booked the dome and a couple of days of fishing for our honeymoon, and it truly exceeded all of our expectations! The domes are beautifully decorated, creating a cozy and peaceful atmosphere that's perfect for a romantic getaway. The riverside hot tub was the icing on the cake, providing a perfect spot to relax and soak in the stunning surroundings. We also had the most amazing time fishing with Dean. He was not only fun to chat with, but also made our days truly memorable and special. I just want to say that we had a GREAT time once again! From the booking process with Alyssa to the outstanding guiding by Mitch it was truly fantastic.
