Cheam Lake Wetlands is a 100 hectare park that is a great place to view birds, dragonflies, frogs…read moreand other wetland critters. What's really great is that there is no dog walking, fishing or boating allowed, so you it is definitely well preserved. The park is a great example of successful habitat restoration. During the 1950s the lake was drained and the marl was mined from the bottom sediments. Since 1992, a fish ladder was built to reflood the lake. Every year more of the natural habitat is being restore to the area. The new dock and wildlife viewing platform is a bonus. An easy 5k walk around the lake is a great way of spotting this new habitat. Every season is different.

Bridal Veil Falls is a fantastic quick stop to stretch your legs if you're driving out to the…read moreOkanagan or BC Interior. It's a short, 15-minute walk to the falls. The trail is shaded under the forest canopy, though it is entirely uphill, so be prepared for a bit of an incline on the way up. The waterfall view at the end is gorgeous! There is plenty of parking and washrooms available on site. It can get quite busy, a large tour bus pulled in right behind us. Overall, a highly recommended road trip stop.

Plenty of people come here and book designated picnic tables to celebrate special occasions as many of them have bbq option. Else just the lake side view for any celebration is enough. I have taken many hikes around this beautiful lake and seen breathtaking views so you must go as well. The whole park is huge and I must say I could not explore in just one visit. So you got to come back to it again and again. Enjoy hikes with beautiful lake view but be careful around here as it is pretty wild and some of the trails are not for first timers.

Even though it's in Maple…read moreRidge, which is relatively close to Vancouver, I had never been due to lack of transit, but I finally had the opportunity to go on Thursday August 13, 2026 with four friends. Because Golden Ears is such a popular destination, free day passes are required for cars between mid-May to Labour Day on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays. As we went on a Thursday we didn't require a pass, but we arrived at 11am, which is considered "late" (none of us are morning people), but we lucked out and managed to find one of the few remaining parking spots, and it was very close to the trail head. This was the first time at Golden Ears for all of us, so we took our time exploring and spent over four hours hiking and enjoying the day. We hiked along the East Canyon Trail to Viewpoint Beach, where we stopped for lunch for about half an hour and watched people on horseback frolicking in the water, and then started back down the trail and took the Crossover Trail to the Lower Falls, and then hiked along the Lower Falls Trail back to the parking lot. With the exception of the Crossover Trail, the trails we hiked were very easy, particularly the Lower Falls Trail (I wouldn't even say that this trail was a hike -- it was a walk). The Crossover Trail connects the East Canyon Trail to the Lower Falls, and while short, it was absolutely awful and I would not recommend hiking this "trail". On the map it's noted as a trail, but in my opinion, it really isn't. The Crossover Trail is very steep and the terrain is quite treacherous, particularly if you're short. Several times I just slid on my butt. The trails we hiked were by the North Beach area of Alouette Lake. There are campgrounds and several other trails, ranging from easy to advanced. Unfortunately there is no transit to this part of Golden Ears, but as of this summer, limited transit service to the South Beach of Alouette Lake began. In June, Translink began seasonal service from Haney Place in Maple Ridge to the South Beach parking lot. The #736 ran only on weekends and holidays until Labour Day every half an hour between 7am and 9pm (which is pretty damn good!). I was hoping to try this route out even though a one way transit trip would be 1.5 hours (getting to Haney Place is about an hour and includes 30 minute bus ride), but between my schedule and the limited days the bus ran, I wasn't able to make it before service ended. Also, I wasn't familiar with the hiking trails in the South Beach area, but now that I have been to Golden Ears and have studied the maps, I feel more comfortable exploring Golden Ears and hope to take transit there next summer. Even if I have friends who can drive, I want to support Translink and hope they keep this route going, and maybe expand it -- more transit to hiking trails is needed. Perfect way to have fun on weekend with family, kid friendly place…read more The maze on its own is great, we choose the long/big maz, you have to solve some riddles to find your way out, it is fun. There's a pumpkin patch, cute animals sections, swings, lavender patch and apple threes. So there are tons of other activities foreveryone, rope course, jumping pilow. Also, they have food hut, try their pumpkin pie so fresh and tasty. Huge free parking on site, and friendly staff, well organized All around a pleasant experience from start to the end.

Took a trip out to the Chilliwack Corn Maze to get into the Autumn spirit. Due to COVID, tickets…read more(that were reasonably priced) must be purchased ahead of time with a specific time slot of entry, to keep customers as spaced apart as possible. What really struck me was the family atmosphere, a place that would be perfect for kids to hang out and play. There was play area, concession stand, picnic tables, pumpkin patches, and the star attraction: the corn maze. A hard or easy option, of which we decided to be adventurous and go for the hard option. Boyfriend and I completed the hard maze in 45 minutes, and that is with us getting turned around twice. There are periodic signs where the answers will guide you on which way to go... as long as you answer correctly. It had rained a day or two before, and signs were posted at the entrance warning us of poor, muddy conditions. Boy they weren't joking! I'm glad I wore my hiking shoes; they were absolutely caked by the time we were done. Amusingly enough, at the end of the maze there is a designated spot for you to scrape excess mud from your shoes. Even with the muddy conditions, this new adventure gave me more smiles than I thought I would get, wandering around a corn maze. It was fun! I admit, the only thing that could have made it better was if it wasn't so cold and windy (even when we made sure to bundle up), but of course that is out of their control.

Each area of the park is detached from the other. There is a fish reserve as well. A room can be booked for college or personal educational trips. Personally I loved my time here. Will go again.

The dry spell during spring/summer means the waterfall is more like a trickle. Cliff falls is now a…read morenarrow stream going over part of the rocks. I looked at others' pictures and could now see the difference. Most of the rocks are barely covered by the water. The interesting part now seeing the perfect round holes in the rocks. I guess those holes were formed by erosion when the falls was in full power, gushing over the rocks. We certainly need more rain to fill the creek. It is quite an easy hike/walk to the falls. Some parts have bridges and steps to help navigate. There are picnic tables and benches in the clearing so you can rest and refresh. Bins are there for garbage. We didn't walk to the hatchery area as the heat got to us. Nice place. I will be back to check out the salmon hatchery next time and hopefully the waterfall will be at its usual size. Parking is available at the lot next to the baseball field.

Very nice lake out past Pitt Meadows…read more There are quite a few forest logging roads around this thing. The first section is accessible with regular passenger vehicles. There is even a boat launch and parking lot with picnic area. Farther up, there are some flat areas that are good for chilling by the shore, as well as an upper campsite area. There are also some flat areas out by the lake (off-road vehicle required) where people can ride dirt bikes or otherwise enjoy a bit of nature.

We found the perfect spot where it was pitch black in the sky. We could even see the milky way and the many many stars. We sat back and past midnight to 1 am (on July 29, 2022), we saw many meteorite. That was a fun experience. Stave lake is about 1.5 hour drive away from Vancouver. It is located in Mission.

Widgeon Valley National Wildlife Area is located at Pit Lake in Pit Meadows. The only way to…read moreaccess the wildlife area is by paddle boat (Kayak or Canoe) as no motor boat accesss is permitted. To access Widgeon Slough you must drive to Pit Lake at Grant Narrows Regional Park. You then Paddle across the Narrows and into Widgeon Slough. Like Pit Lake, Widgeon Slough is Tidal and can cause real problems for people if they paddle in at high tide. Places that you could pass through before may have only 2 inches of water or none at all! This place is amazing though. There is almost dead silence wile in the slough. There is only the sound of birds, your paddle and maybe the odd plane above. There are a lot of water ways to explore in the Slough but one place to get to is the Widgeon Camp ground. It is Paddle access only but has 2 outhouses and multiple tent pads. No fires are permitted here at all and you can get huge fines if caught. From Widgen Camp you have arrived in Pinecone Burke Provincial Park and have a whole new place to explore.

The Park is located at the far eastern end of Harrison, with Harrison Lake access and views on one side, and apartments lining the other side. Walking access to the Park is via a small entranceway at the end of Esplanade Avenue, or another entranceway at the opposite end of the Park, off Rockwell Drive. The Park is a day use area, with a number of picnic tables, and an area of the Lake is 'fenced off' (w/floats) for swimming. The walk though, and around provided our first up-close look at this area of Harrison since the nearby cottage/cabin type hotel had been removed, and other apartments, and such built on nearby properties. For us, it was good to see the park area had been spared from any further construction, and left as a park.
