Killer's is Conveniently located on the docks just in front of Harrison Resort and Spa and is a lot cheaper than Harrison Watersports, also Killer's Cove is a family owned and operated business so you can feel good supporting it. FYI: Harrison Watersports requires a $2500 damage deposit versus the $700 Killer's charged (& refunded us). We had our choice of boats at varying rates and they gave our driver a detailed safety course with equipment and maps. They conveniently gave us the option to split up our rental time (6 hours) over a couple days or load up a redeemable card on the off chance that we didn't use up all our time on this visit. Things to know: - They won't allow you to make out of town reservations over the phone, you need to do them in person so check them out the day before you want to rent if at all possible. - The boats don't have stereos so bring your own. We were forewarned so it wasn't an issue to just bring our own ipod dock and speakers. - You can rent a 'tube' to pull behind the boat for an additional $20 a day, I highly recommend it! Us three adults had a great time with ours :) We had such an amazing day, if/when I'm back to Harrison I'll be sure to grab another boat from Killer's. The rental process was quick and painless and our day on the water was easily the most memorable of the trip.

There are train tracks across the river, and trains are passing throughout the day, but is far enough to not be too loud and just give a nice picturesque touch. Despite bing a bunch of different lots, they all seemed to be reserved for specific visitors - i.e., campers, boaters, etc. If you're just here to hike, as we were, know to go to the parking lot designated for "picnic area". FYI. Oh, and it was free to park here, too. Bonus!). My kid heard about the "Seven Sisters" hike, which supposedly is a "gentle loop" through the mountain, and "family friendly". I'm a long-distance walker but not a hiker, and I'm not great with inclines, so I still found this walk up the mountain a tad taxing in parts. But boy, was it lovely! The air was so fresh, and the trees, so old and imposing and stately, and nobody was there but us! It was an incredibly, serene beautiful experience. And it only took about 50 minutes. I highly recommend this hike. It was wonderful! And if you have time, the beach area looked fabulous, too, and the lake crystal clear. What a great park!

The cabins were large inside, comfortable but firm beds…read more I've seen a couple reviews about mice, didn't see any at all but you couldn't leave any food whatsoever because of squirrels, racoons so just have to make sure its packed up or left in the cabin. The cabins were very close together and has ZERO privacy. We were in cabin 17 and cabin 16 was about 20 feet away from us. Also overlooked the parking lot. They seem to be more designed for large groups and families to all share space. There's only one electrical outlet so you recommend bringing a power bar. Not all the windows have curtains so we taped a black garbage bag to the top and door window to make it darker, it was very bright in the morning and woke kids up early. There's a small beach right by the cabins or a short walk to the larger beach with a dock/washrooms. The beaches are gravel so would recommend water shoes. The bathrooms were clean and showers nice. There was one communal fire pit. It was so high that you if were sitting down on a camp chair you couldn't actually see the fire over it. There's a large covered communal area with picnic tables and a dish washing station with hot water. Large grassy area for kids to run around which was nice and lots of shade.

Golden Ears Provincial Park is a very popular park and campground. Even though it's in Maple…read moreRidge, which is relatively close to Vancouver, I had never been due to lack of transit, but I finally had the opportunity to go on Thursday August 13, 2026 with four friends. Because Golden Ears is such a popular destination, free day passes are required for cars between mid-May to Labour Day on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays. As we went on a Thursday we didn't require a pass, but we arrived at 11am, which is considered "late" (none of us are morning people), but we lucked out and managed to find one of the few remaining parking spots, and it was very close to the trail head. This was the first time at Golden Ears for all of us, so we took our time exploring and spent over four hours hiking and enjoying the day. We hiked along the East Canyon Trail to Viewpoint Beach, where we stopped for lunch for about half an hour and watched people on horseback frolicking in the water, and then started back down the trail and took the Crossover Trail to the Lower Falls, and then hiked along the Lower Falls Trail back to the parking lot. With the exception of the Crossover Trail, the trails we hiked were very easy, particularly the Lower Falls Trail (I wouldn't even say that this trail was a hike -- it was a walk). The Crossover Trail connects the East Canyon Trail to the Lower Falls, and while short, it was absolutely awful and I would not recommend hiking this "trail". On the map it's noted as a trail, but in my opinion, it really isn't. The Crossover Trail is very steep and the terrain is quite treacherous, particularly if you're short. Several times I just slid on my butt. The trails we hiked were by the North Beach area of Alouette Lake. There are campgrounds and several other trails, ranging from easy to advanced. Unfortunately there is no transit to this part of Golden Ears, but as of this summer, limited transit service to the South Beach of Alouette Lake began. In June, Translink began seasonal service from Haney Place in Maple Ridge to the South Beach parking lot. The #736 ran only on weekends and holidays until Labour Day every half an hour between 7am and 9pm (which is pretty damn good!). I was hoping to try this route out even though a one way transit trip would be 1.5 hours (getting to Haney Place is about an hour and includes 30 minute bus ride), but between my schedule and the limited days the bus ran, I wasn't able to make it before service ended. Also, I wasn't familiar with the hiking trails in the South Beach area, but now that I have been to Golden Ears and have studied the maps, I feel more comfortable exploring Golden Ears and hope to take transit there next summer. Even if I have friends who can drive, I want to support Translink and hope they keep this route going, and maybe expand it -- more transit to hiking trails is needed.
