I do not do too many reviews unless the experience warrants it. My wife asked me to stop by and get one of their brisket rolls and whatever else looks good. Dangerous thing to say to me. I was informed by the owner that Sunday was brisket day but Saturday was pepperoni roll day. I bought two of those, 6 cookies (assorted flavors) a maple cinnamon roll, cheese danish and a cherry cheese danish. The prices were very reasonable and when he handed me the three bags, I couldn't believe how much they weighed. This is real pastry made the right way. So much better than store bought pastry. Sampled a little bit of everything and all was exceptional!!! My advice is go there while the lines are manageable because this is one of those places that when the word gets out, people from far away will drive to buy their baked goods. read more

Easily the BEST bakery in the area. My affinity for Great Scott's started last summer when I picked up a mixed berry pie for a family gathering. My family raved about how good that pie was (probably the best I've ever had.) Then I tried the cream puffs and mousse parfait. Absolutely delectable. And huge! One cream puff is big enough for 2-3 people to split. This cupcake pictured was packed full of flavor, and all of the decadence you desire in a baked good. Unfortunately, I visited later in the day and selection was limited. What they did have included beautifully made treats. I purchased a couple of cupcakes- wedding cake and chocolate that resembled a hostess cupcake. There was a lot of frosting on top and as a filling. I would have liked more cake. Flavor was good. Recently relocated to Brunswick from Rocky River this location focuses mainly on its bakery and coffee business. They don't have a deli. Which is fine. Their bakery is top quality. We decided to stop here and get cupcakes for my daughters birthday. Boy are we glad we did! Each one carefully handcrafted into one of the best cupcakes I've ever had. The chocolate cupcake was moist and melted in my mouth with rich cocoa flavors. The chocolate icing was rich, buttery, and chocolate sweet. Almost fudge like. I will definitely be back. This bakery (at its former location) was life-changing. 15-20 years ago, I ordered a birthday cake from another place for my wife (at the time, my girlfriend). They got a wedding cake order and stiffed me. I needed a cake ASAP. I knew about Great Scott's-- I'd seen a story about how he'd been a businessman (IIRC, a stockbroker) and wasn't happy there, so he quit to start his dream business. Plus, his shop was five minutes away from my Rocky River condo. I went over there late in the day and said "I need a birthday cake STAT-- have you got anything?" "All I have is a flourless chocolate cake," Scott said. "But it's kinda small." I'll take it. He pulled it out of the fridge, iced "Happy Birthday" on it (he barely got it in; the cake was small), piped a border around it and decorated it with fresh raspberries. It was the first time she had ever had a flourless chocolate cake. It is now the ONLY type she wants (red velvet cake runs a tawdry second)-- and she still thinks Scott makes the best. I would not say she married me entirely because of this-- but it helped. (Cakes now need to be pre-ordered, by the way. I got him when he was starting out.) We've been back many times since, for all sorts of different stuff. The brownies are very good; the cake pops are as good as they get (not a big fan of the concept). I like the macaroons and coffee cakes. They're not cheap-- but you get what you pay for. Plenty of places serve slop. Scott serves good stuff. I do bear the ratbastard a grudge for moving to Brunstucky, though. I used to be able to scoot down the street. Now I have to drive. read more
