Branka's Bake Haus and Market is a new European business located in Rito's old space. This business is a concept from a family who owns Das Schnitzel Haus and Schnitzel Ale Brewery. This market offers a mix of European cuisines - German, Italian, Polish, Hungarian, and other. I stopped in during grand opening day when Harmonia (local Eastern European band) filled the space with music. The business reminded me of an indoor version of Oktoberfest, same spirit. The market has two floors. The first floor has extensive European packaged goods, bakery, deli, and prepared food counter (Schnitzel Express). There are no traditional aisles but rather display tables with cans, canned goods, packaged sweets, sauces, and so on. The second floor contains a cafe with tables to socialize and enjoy prepared foods. Service was very friendly and attentive but there was still a lot of newness felt at the market. It was pretty warm inside the market. Market: I really like Das Schnitzel Haus and Schnitzel Ale Brewery but disliked my experience at Branka's. I write this as an Eastern European guest though with a lot of dining experience in Europe and European restaurants in the US. I'm perhaps stating what others would have loved. The market is a unique concept in our city but various parts of my experience just weren't enjoyable. The lines were not well organized, one had to stand in multiple lines (in the bakery department for instance) to complete a transaction. This might be attributed to the grand opening crowd. The prices appear significantly higher than surrounding European or ethnic stores. Bake Haus: Meal portions at the cafe looked pretty large and hearty. I really wanted to like this cafe but I didn't find any parts of my meal particularly tasty or authentically prepared. Food at Das Schnitzel Haus and Schnitzel Ale Brewery is considerably better and more flavorful. Similarly, I didn't enjoy bakery or prepared foods. My order: - Coffee Croissant ($9) - This croissant contained crème and a vile of coffee. The price seemed very steep. Croissant was stale and flavorless. I wouldn't order it again. There were many other interesting choices at the bakery. I was eyeing Honey Cake. - Pierogis ($10 for 4) - My order contained 6. The pierogis are fried and just aren't authentic tasting. I got the feeling they were initially frozen. There was scarce sour cream, less than a spoonful. The latter probably due to large demand/crowds. - Olivier Salat ($6.99 per lb) - Wasn't exactly what I'd expect from Oliver Salat which traditionally contains meat or sausage. It had a distinct mustard taste. In other words, this was more of potato salad than traditional Olivier. - I considered getting a meal or spaetzle. But it didn't quite resemble what I know as spaetzle. Nothing else looked appealing. Parking Lot: Parking is available onsite. Parking lot gets filled quickly due to a lot of interest in this new business. I really wanted to love the market but didn't find anything that would keep me coming back. I feel like it has a lot of potential with its sit down cafe. I hope that this market's food becomes better overtime. I can just see this establishment eventually serving as a gathering place for the European community.

So many incredible options to choose from! Featuring German, Eastern European and Italian classics made from scratch! Grab a sweet treat or gorgeous cake from the bakery, delicious pretzel with beer cheese, share a pint at the bar with friends or enjoy lunch from the hot food bar! Loved my Orange marmalade fruit pastry! The staff were very friendly and helpful! Plenty of room to enjoy your purchases in the upstairs dining room overlooking the market and lots of parking available in the lot!

We went here to grab lunch. When you walk in you have to go to the counter to order. They have things like chicken paprikash, Reubens, stuffed cabbage, etc. They also have a large selection of wonderful pastries and desserts to choose from. There is some seating on the second floor and there's a stand to get your utensils. We had no problem grabbing a table. The chicken paprikash was very good, but the baklava cheesecake was amazing!

Tons of sweets and expensive. I was disappointed on how little bread variety there was. I walked out not making any purchases.

Do not patronize this place.. ive given them multiple chances and they have failed everytime…read more If the crew working is older its amazing.. If its teens or.early 20 somethings working its bad... Everytime im there what usually happens with the older workers is.. If they see me standing at deli and their dealing with a lotto customer they will excuse themselves from lotto to help me. Reason being that lotto people are usually there a while playing multiples. But when the kids are working is like shopping at a high school work study program Rude. One time which was what initially made me stop going there... I went to deli The young girl (who may have been the daughter of another worker or the owner) Said ill be right with you As she checked ina vendor. A vendor I worked retail.. customers come before vendors. Always. So i waited. Then a lotto customer walked in after i had been waiting for five minutes. She stepped away from the vendor to help the lotto customer and not me. So i left and swore never to come back. Fast forward to months later . I decided to give them another chance I went and grabbed one of their premade wraps Bbq chicken wrap Went to work. When i went to eat the sandwhich it didnt seem to have much bbq Turns out it was a buffalo chicken wrap. That was mislabeled. The reason you label a premade sandwhich is for health reasons. Some people have allergies or intolerances. And having an ingredients label lets them know if they can or cannot eat it. I am one with allergies. As i could not see what was on the sandwhich without opening it... i started eating Some of the ingredients in buffalo chicken could have killed me. To the owner..you could have killed me. That was your last chance. Honestly with all that.. id recommend either firing all kids working for you or closing. No one eat there. You will get sick or worse. This place is a lawsuit waiting to happen.

They have the best fried chicken and jojo's. Very friendly and helpful staff! Store is well stocked!read more

Ach, SO Salty! I had never been. I saw an internet article…read moreraving about their chili. I tried it. I did not get much for my money. The taste wasnt bad, except for the ton of salt. They should call this place Salt Mine Subs. I will never go back. You have been warned!

Both employees were extremely rude and did not attempt to help or correct the order. Lady working behind counter looked up and then went back to work. Totally ignored me. I gave the quiet "why am I being rudely ignored, can I get some help" eh-hem. She slightly glanced up as she turned to empty the trap from one of the grill presses. No "Can I help you" or "I'll be with you in a moment". I made another "eh-hem" gesture. She didn't even look my direction, so this time I spoke up and asked if I could get some help. Her response was "Don't be rude!"????? Rude is ignoring customers that are gesturing they need assistance. Manager came over at the moment and asked what was going on. I explained what had just happened, and she angrily shouted that coughing on customer's food was rude and I was the one that needed to speak up. Rude is ignoring a customers repeated attempts when the service provider should be attentive or even proactive when helping customers. Also, I never coughed!!! I explained to the manager that the chip selection was incorrect and the first employee SHOUTED back "we don't have those".... Ok fine... then I started to list the items that were missing from my sandwhich. The manager responded by asking "why would you want those?"... umm... because that's what I ordered and paid extra for!!!! Then he stood and just stared at me with a blank stare... there was no "can I see the incorrectly made sandwhich", no "can we correctly make you another", no "can we get those missing items for you so YOU can put them on your sandwhich". My response was "Nevermind, I told you the issues, and neither of you are even making an attempt to remedy the mistakes you made preparing my order". Never coming back. Contacting corporate, they probably will not reply, but what else can I do?
