First off - this would be a 3.5 stars, if that was possible. The good: moo goo gai pan w/ its fresh veggies (snow peas, carrots, bok choy, onions) -- this was worth the 4 stars. The ok: pan fried dumplings w/ its yummy meaty inside - we ordered & would've far preferred the dumplings to be steamed (!). The not good: "jumbo" shrimp fried rice. Oddly, there was just no flavor in this dish. I'm not sure how that's possible. The shrimp were basically medium/smallish. The serving size for the entree dishes is pretty large - we have lots of leftovers. This teeny hole in the wall in tiny Franklinville (one stop light) - is takeout only *AND* cash/check (do people still write checks?!) only. We have a cabin not far away, so we'll be back. Excellent family-run restaurant. Take-out only, cash only, and nobody is deterred by this. Food is cooked to order; the vegetarian dishes are excellent. I'm especially fond of the broccoli with garlic sauce, and the tofu dishes. Portions are enormous, service is quick and friendly. We love their pan fried dumplings and my husband always gets a great meat and vegetable dish, whether it is beef and broccoli or chicken and vegetables. They are very good about seasoning the food to the heat level that you like and ask for. I prefer my food as spicy as I can get it. Preparation is pretty fast whether you order ahead or happen to stop in. Even post-covid they have managed to keep their prices fairly consistent and reasonable. read more

Standard Chinese fare, but considering the location, this is one of the better choices for take out in the Franklinville area. My husband and I were out visiting a friend's property and wanted to get take out. It was a bit of a vacation and we didn't really want to cook. Ordering our standards sesame chicken and vegetable mei fun, we were satisfied. There wasn't anything to complain about and it was quick, easy, and satisfying. The owners were friendly, and they were abiding by all covid-related safety measures. If you're in the area and need a break from sweating in your kitchen, this is as good an option as any. read more

Came in this place to check it out. Ordered the lunch chicken and garlic sauce. As I was waiting I looked around. No credit cards, just cash or check. I get the food to eat in the car and the pieces of chicken were too big without a knife. Went back inside and was told they only have knives for dine in customers (3-4 tables really?) went back to eat. There were about 4 or 5 big but not huge pieces of chicken, the rest was vegetables. The pork fried rice that came with it tasted old. If you want Chinese food in Franklinville, unfortunately this is it. Prices are good but you get what you pay for. read more

This little place in Franklinville is still going strong. After our less than stellar experience in Olean, my husband and I decided to come here to wipe the bad taste from our minds. Service: Is still fantastic. The lady is always super friendly, They are great about making our food spicy. Real spicy. She remembers us and remembers my favorite thing to order. Even though I got weeks/months without coming in as I no longer have to drive that way for work. Her husband is always working hard and the kids are super polite. Atmosphere: Hasn't at all changed. It's geared towards take out. But the three tables they do have are always clean. And it's an inviting little hole in the wall. Food: So delicious. Even when mistakes are made (they forgot to put the spicy seasoning in my spouses Chow Mei Fun) they always do their best to correct the issue. (They offered to remake it but my husband just opted to take the spicy sauce they made him in a cup to mix in himself). They had sold our of the bbq spareribs. (Sad face for me as it's my favorite) but I got a double spicy orange chicken. It pack the heat. It was crispy. The rice was perfect. I got a honey chicken and rice for my lunch the next day. (Today) So satisfied. And even with the little price increase, it's still more than enough food and perfect quality to match the prices. Thanks again Great Wall for making my day better. We have tried quite a few Americanized Chinese restaurants in downtown Buffalo and this restaurant in Franklinville was one of the best Chinese food experiences we have every had. I was skeptical of the wonton soup at first as they use a beef broth rather than chicken/ pork broth but it was still very good. The chicken lo mein and beef with broccoli was absolutely amazing! Franklinville's Great Wall Chinese Restaurant is honestly the best Chinese food I've ever had in my life - and I eat a lot of Chinese food. Their pineapple chicken is so sweet and delicious, not something you find in many other Chinese restaurants. My favorite dish is the sesame chicken though, it is always made to perfection and it satisfies me entirely. General tso's chicken there is really good too. And her son is usually there playing in the restaurant and he is such a sweet and cute kid. Very friendly but also doesn't bother the customers. Overall, best place to get Chinese food in WNY in my opinion. read more

This Chinese-American takeout restaurant serves the same dishes as every other Chinese takeout restaurant, BUT the dishes are always hot, consistent, and cheap, and the service is fantastic.
