After reading reviews decided to try but have to say not impressed and wouldn't go back. The fried rice is yellow and not fried - there's no egg, scallion or soy sauce and just yellow rice. Mu shu has too much sauce and is more of a stew. Lemon chicken good but too much breading . Shrimp and broccoli has a brown sauce but I'm used to white sauce. Not horrible and we'll eat it but won't go back - why is it so hard to find good Chinese ?? read more

Since my standby go to take out place has closed after 20 years of service I visited this restaurant a few times and finally decided that they will be my new go-to. Definitely call ahead of time and it'll be ready by the time you get there. The service is quite pleasant and they are liberal with the sauces. I ordered the specialty spare rib tips with pork fried rice and a small wonton soup. the guy behind the counter was nice and quickly made my food and thanked me for my order. so the rib tips were hot and very fresh, tender and moist. rice was pretty good, flavorful. the wonton in the soup were a decent size and a good portion of filling inside. overall a good lunch :) read more

Friendly girl working the front, clean bathroom and dining area. For $8 and change I got general tso's chicken with fried rice and an egg roll. LOTS of food. Sauce had good flavor and just a little kick to it. Fried rice was alright had pork, onion and bean sprouts but it needed soy sauce and to actually be fried(?). Their homemade iced tea tasted great, but I'm more of an unsweetened iced tea girl so it was a little too sweet for my liking. Didn't have to wait long for food. read more

Absolutely the best Chinese food in Newburgh, the only place I will eat Chinese from actually out here. My GF is a fan of Chinese food, me not so much. However, Great Wall has really changed my perspective, I attribute it to the clean oil that they use. Most other Chinese takeout places taste gross to me because of the dirty oil. That statement applies to every food place, not solely Chinese, dirty oil is gross! I got talked into eating Great Wall after a long day, and I'm so happy that I was! An egg roll finished in clean oil is sooo good! The Kung Pao is surprisingly full of chicken and nuts, just ask for a little cup of hot oil and make it as hot as you like. The rib tip lunch special is surprisingly generous on the rib side, and they don't seem to pull that BS that some places do of using yesterday's rice for the lunch combo plates {cough cough Goshen Chinese Kitchen}. A decent spot for some ok chinese food. There's a good amount of space for dining in and the restaurant is cleaner than most other chinese places. Went for the boneless spare ribs combo with fried rice and an egg roll. Tons of food with large spare ribs. They had good flavor but were a little too fatty for my liking so I would suggest asking for them well done. Standard egg roll, but it was also pretty big. Wasn't a fan of the "fried" rice. It was just yellow rice. Didn't taste fried at all or have soy sauce. Tried some general tso's chicken too, it was good. They sell quart size homemade iced tea for $2 so my girlfriend and I split it. Great Wall is our GO TO Chinese restaurant. We take out from here probably around 3 times a month. Our favorites include: General Tso's- large portion, cooked perfect, and I always ask for it extra spicy. Spare Ribs- very meaty, and the sauce is delicious. I also enjoy the boneless ribs, but prefer the meat on the bone. I believe there are 5 pcs in the small serving. Cold Sesame Noodles- just yummy. Peanut Butter sauce, crunchie things going on...Room Temperature is the way to go with these. Wontons with Garlic Sauce- they give you ALOT, the wontons are decent sized and the sauce is tangy but not really spicy, and wonderful. Egg Roll- they are big and packed, and I usually order extra. That's how good they are! Cashew Chicken- love it. Tons of cashews on top. Again, I ask for this extra spicy. The sauce is delish, and I often mop up my egg roll in it. Big pieces of chicken, celery, carrot, baby corn. man, I wish I had some right now!! Kung Pao Chicken- spicy, lots of bell peppers and peanuts. Flavorful sauce. If I am getting take out chinese food , I normally go there for it. About a month ago I went there to pick up my order. when I walked in the lady behind the counter who bags the food normally was cleaning her ears with a Q-tip next to the prep table, then laid in down to bag my food. Came here today for the first time. My wife and I each had a combo, General Tso's and Sesame chicken, subbed the fried rice for white rice and it came with an egg roll. The main dish was good and generous portions, the egg roll was not good and I don't remember the last time I had a bad egg roll. Simply not good... but overall the food was decent. The place was nice and clean, my wife said the ladies room was clean, service was friendly. We ate in their dining area, but we ordered at the counter and had to help ourselves to their drink cooler for our beverages. They brought the plates out to us but I had to go to the counter to get take home packages. Overall not a bad experience and the cost was $20 for two... not too shabby read more

I've been coming here since I moved to this town about four years ago and I can honestly say that the food has never been dissappointing! It has never been greasy and has always tasted fresh and homemade. The people there are also very nice and have always given me quick and great service. I've alwasy felt very welcome and the owners seem to really care about the quatlity of the food they serve. I know many people who even travel from miles away to get the it! I am sorry to say, but this is a very pricy Chinese Takeout with the utmost disgusting food I ever had. Takeout from NYC is not even this expensive and is so much healthier and taste sooo much better than here. But it is more about the food than the price. I don't mind spending on quality Chinese takeout. I just have feeling they used oil and sauce to cover their non-fresh food. Food is super greasy even when I ask to be "extremely little sauce." They definitely reused oil because the fried food are all brown. A fresh fries food should be golden color and food usually taste good even when it's left over, but not in this place. It's already bad enough that the food is disgusting but also the place is really dirty and also the service is terrible. "Great Wall" and "green garden" both on north plank rd, are associated with each other. I advise you guys to eat else where. You would know when the food isn't good from just observing the sanitation when you first walk in that place. The more sanitary a place look, you know it will be clean. But not in this case.
