I told him it was addressed to be at this address. Why would you send it back? Went to this post office and they had me speak to the supervisor who was patronizing telling me, "You don't know how it works here. You have to register your address." I said just tell me how to get my package back. She's like you can't. We already sent it back, but you can pay to get it back. I said I'm not paying for something that's your mistake. She said it's not our fault you didn't register. I have had more than half a dozen addresses and have never had to "register" with the local post office. No apology was ever made. Coming to Kenmore Library today, Monday 23 October 2023, looking for a book to read, I pulled in…read moreoff of Northeast 181st Street to find a packed parking strip on the side of the building. I was like, oh no... where am I supposed to park. Continuing forwards in my vehicle I noticed a slanted drive down under the library building on the left. Then I noticed a sign with an arrow indicating parking. So, I followed the drive in and parked in the garage under the building. An elevator was available to take one up to/down from the library entryway. I took it on the way up, and during my one floor elevator ride remembered I did not like elevators, so I might walk around like I drove into the garage when I went back to my car. Getting off the elevator in the entryway with doors on each side of me, one to the street and one into the library, I entered the library through the door(s) going that way. The interior of the library initially felt small and a librarian was at their station by the entry/exit. Other librarian(s) were about in the library around the shelves. A number of people were sitting on chairs/couches in the library reading books. The chairs/couches were well placed throughout the library as were tables. Each section, such as teen, non-fiction, magazines, etc., was well labeled. Study rooms were open/available for use if wanting a quiet place to close the door and work on something. I was specifically looking for something in the tune of business. The different non-fiction categories were diverse in offerings. I ended up going with a book about putting ideas into action. Different libraries in the King County Library System tend to have different business offerings, and I found the marketing/thought process focus at this library refreshing. Self check out stations were located near the entrance/exit by the librarians' stations. The librarians I interacted with were warm in demeanor. On my way out, I opted to walk back to my car instead of taking the elevator. I found there was even a sidewalk down to the garage. All around I enjoyed my experience.

The Kenmore Library is a newly built public library in the King County system. Small facility, yet…read morevery modern with natural light and clean lines. Small footprint, but close to USPS and City Hall. Parking is not plentiful and it seems as tho the 5 minute "book drop off" spaces are always full. Kenmore is more of a satellite location, than a full size public library. I reluctantly used this library for a while when the Bothell Library was being remodeled. Staff has always been nice in Kenmore, but it lacks the size and amenities of Bothell. It was easy to place books on hold online to pick up and check out at the self-service kiosks. But if you want full service, Kenmore is not your library.

I learned a pro tip from another Yelper/IGer (thanks a billion, Carol!) regarding US passport renewals, to go to the Lake Forest Park City Hall website and make an appointment to get this done. She had successfully completed this process for a family member. Way back when, I recalled there were passport renewal days at local post offices, county courthouse sites or just head to the Federal Building in downtown Seattle. This isn't the case anymore. Lake Forest Park City Hall is located at Ballinger Way and Hwy 522 (17425 Ballinger Way NE, 206-957-2834), same vicinity as Third Place Books and other retail sites at the Lake Forest Town Center. Follow the signage once arriving at the main entrance and waiting area for passport services. Appointments are available a month to two months in advance, no unscheduled walk-ins. I just happen to be online and snagged a slot which must of been a cancellation. The specific instructions for required documents, photos, identification, and fees are provided on the LFP City Hall government site, as well as, via the US Department of State site. However, make sure you are visiting an actual US city/county/state/government site while online! This timely appointment was for a family member who had an expired US passport. Once I had secured the appointed date/time and location, the days leading up to that date involved getting required documents together, photocopies made, getting passport photos taken, having both check (for the US Department of State) and cash available (for the LFP City Hall processing fee) for payments. The renewal process onsite was straightforward, thorough, and convenient. Estimated processing time takes 10-13 weeks, expedited takes 7-9 weeks - so plan ahead accordingly.

Bothell's motto is, "Bothell welcomes you for a day or for a lifetime." Not true. Our nice country…read moreproperty became incorporated into the city and then the over-control started. Can't cut trees, can't have more than three pets, no roosters. The city wants to 'rewild' the city at citizen cost in safety for both citizens and their domestic animals. In the 28 years of living here the city has become much less safe. Wild animals are overrunning the city including rats from the city's unkempt Blyth Park. Latest is a cougar in people's backyards. The Bothell police officer I talked to about the puma public safety threat said the public must defend itself against 130 pound predators. Currently the City of Bothell has an extremely aggressive, over-empowered, unprofessional animal code enforcer evicting and confiscating people's valuable animal property without due process of law, fining pet owners for perceived minor infractions, citing animal cruelty and neglect, and getting pets killed, and owners traumatized and feeling raped. All with the apparent support of Bothell's Police Department as police officers have accompanied the code enforcer to people's homes. So pumas on the prowl are okay, poodles, barn cats, and roosters not okay. The city does not control its own vegetation and animals, but hyper-controls citizens vegetation and animals. Not at all welcoming. Backwards policies. All at a very high cost in property taxes. In addition to not providing physical security, indeed threatening citizen's peace with the aggressive animal code enforcer and police, the city, because of their poor tree management, does not provide electricity security. The power goes out often and often for prolonged periods. Most homeowners have been forced to get generators. If you are in an apartment or condo, darkness and cold await you. We definitely do not recommend living in this city as it is at present. Sign us, 28 year residents looking for a kinder, more sensible place to live.

There are some standout restaurants here (Amaro Bistro, Poquitos, McMenamins Tiki restaurant above the lagoon, to name a few..) and it's a small town with a cute and safe small town vibe. There's still a Baskin Robbins, local bridal shops, and also a local lady-owned tattoo shop (she is so talented there's a huge wait-list). I am always up for a stroll in downtown Bothell and can't wait to see how the city continues to grow!
