Tiny library still but with helpful staff that are ready and waiting to be there for you. The computer stations have the monitors underneath the counters with filters for privacy, so be ready to stretch your neck as the keyboards are underneath. read more

I really love this little library and I've been coming here since I moved to Snohomish County in 2000. I recently moved to Lynnwood so I've been using that library, but I miss this one. The librarians are always so nice and helpful and it's easy to find things here even though it's a small library. Plenty of parking and places to sit inside. While they're doing curbside pickup, you just have to call them and let them know you're there and they'll come out and bring your holds. Kids are scolded during Storytime, for doing things age appropriate. (Perhaps 2 and 3 year olds do not want to "sit still", while someone reads a book). So what? Well... they will call you out, and have you "parent" your child. Perhaps they should employ people who actually LIKE children to run Storytime. For example: My daughter (she's 3) was sitting down, and she would stand to see the pictures in the book he was reading. She wasn't running around, throwing a tantrum, smacking other kids, or being destructive to the library. She would merely stand when he turned the page, (to see the picture) - he said to her, "You need to sit down." and she did. However, when he turned the page - she stood up again. He quit reading and said to me, "Perhaps she should sit with you" - my little girl likes books, singing, and other children. Actually, I should run storytime, because I like books, singing, and other children too. I use this library to pick up hold items, and return items, that's it. And their teeny tiny parking lot sucks! read more

I've been coming to this library for the past 3 years. It's a small library and they have expanded the parking lot to accommodate more cars, but it is still a very small space for the amount of people that visit here. There are a few computers inside and I used to hang out here about 5 years ago, but no more. I think that it is way too crowded now with all the people in there on the computers, reading books, and just lounging. This library does not have that comfy feel because there is no where in the library where you can just get "lost" with your book or magazine. With the constant flow of people around you, it's difficult to relax and concentrate on your reading....that's why I only use the Mill Creek Library to just pick up books on hold now. Pros: - Great place to pick up your books on hold - On Saturdays, if you get there early enough, it's possible to get a free Sunday newspaper Cons: - Although they have expanded the library's parking lot, it is still way too small to handle all the traffic that comes in - They need more couches and lounge chairs to relax in while you read a good book - Build another floor to expand! Why I gave it a 3..... It's a great place for me to stop by and pick up my books on hold and to leave, but that's about it. It's way too crowded and there are no good couches to sit on in there to get comfortable. I can only stay in there for 10 minutes max before I begin to feel claustrophobic. read more

This is a very, very small library. As the city of Mill Creek has become more polished, I was hoping that they would improve their library as well, so I feel a little disappointed that they are not working on it to make it a better place. I don't mind the library being small but I want it to be a brighter and more resourceful place. It's still a good place though to pick up books that you have on hold online and drop them off. Since there are so many improvements that can be done to make this a much better library, I give 2 stars. read more

So much for thinking I could find a peaceful place to do homework and study. At 12pm on a Thursday it is packed, makes you wonder if people work. You have kids running around talking play and rough housing babies screaming. Even the staff are extremely loud talking to each other laughing extremely loud. Very tiny library and far too loud. Parking is miserable. I just come here to pick up/drop off books on the hold shelf. Would be nice to designate a few parking stalls for 10 mins or less. I am staying with a family member while waiting for my house to close and have used this library several times. Both the employees and the patrons were helpful and very nice. I had a bad experience at this library, and complained to the library board with no response. So imagine my surprise when I see that I'm the fourth person to complain about this exact situation on yelp. Research says that for every complaint, there are 26 others who experienced the same thing and didn't complain. So roughly 104 people have also experienced this at the Mill Creek Library and no one cares. At story time, my toddler daughter walked to the front to look at the book and when the employee asked her to sit down, she quietly walked back and did. Immediately after that one incident, I was verbally shamed in front of everyone for my young daughter's completely age-appropriate behavior of not sitting still. I was so horrified, I left. I've been to dozens of story times at other libraries where kids were actually misbehaving and I've never seen this happen. Young children acting appropriately for their age should be welcome at a public library. I'm not sure if this public shaming is happening to everyone, or is just targeting those that are disabled or ethnic as other reviews suggest. If you are the fourth person complaining (so likely 130 others have experienced this) , skip yelp, and complain to the Office of Civil Rights. After so many complaints, the library has to know it's happening, and they are choosing to give verbal apologies instead of creating a welcoming environment. Not OK. read more

So I would say that despite having a small location the Mill Creek library does everything it can to provide a full service experience. Read on! I agree that the library does feel sterile and does not have enough seating for leisure reading. There are plenty of unused tables for studying however, as a previous reviewer has stated this library is too loud for studying in. The children's section is very large and the teen section has a few computers for themselves in addition to the bay of computers available. My only complaint really is the layout of the library, I can never seem to find what I am looking for, however the actual librarian is extremely knowledgeable, helpful and pleasant to be with. She has always shown me where something specific was located, has always been able to recommend great books that meet my needs. Read on... This is what gives it that fourth star: The library is small and as a result there is a limited collection of books on site. However, the Mill Creek library is more than just what is on premises: A wonderful website that fills in all my needs beyond the pysical picking up of a book. www dot sno-isle dot org I find the website wonderful is the ability to find, place holds, renew and request books from home. If they do not have what I am looking for their website will tell me who in the system does have it and gives me the choice to hold it at any location I choose including the Mill Creek library. Another great feature of the website is that if none of the libraries in the system have the book they will purchase it upon request. I have gotten books that were sent to the Mill Creek library from other Snohomish County libraries as well as from out-of-state universities and even brand new books that were purchased on my behalf. The luxury of doing this at home is great. And I can even reserve a computer from my home for the time I want to use it. There has never a time when I could not get a computer when I needed it. And as a brief note, the computer workstations are set up in an easy to use, comfortable, entirely private viewing manner. The only thing I cannot do from their website is physically obtain the books. And if I were a person that did not have a computer at home there are three computers at the library itself specifically for card catalog searching, placing holds and reserving computers. The Public Library is a community must have. This Library helps fit that need in little Mill Creek, WA. Although this library is small, it is mighty. There are many activities, events, and opportunities made available by this branch. The entire SnoIsle system works in synchronicity. I've put books on hold, made request for book transfers, used the online audiobook and ebook checkout system. There is an app that is not as user friendly as I would like, but I have learned to navigate it with some practice. It is wonderful to take the kids to activities and to teach them to appreciate this public service. read more

I'm a college student and when it comes to studying, I need a place to focus on my studies. What library let their kids run around screeching their screams like no tomorrow? Heck, even the workers here are loud. Like what the others said, this place is great for picking up books on hold. I came here to study and was shocked out how LOUD this place was at 1:50 on a Thursday. The worst part is it's the WORKERS gossiping and being loud. Seriously?!? Peoples phones are going off, and other patrons are otherwise being loud and no one is asking them to keep it down. I study in coffee shops that are quieter. Even earplugs didn't help this place. This is ridiculous. If you're looking to come have a loud conversation with your friends this is the place. Nice enough place, but somehow seems sterile. Needs to have more comfort or more cozy nooks to curl up in. There never seems to be enough computers to use. Children's area is big and open, but not inviting. Selection is small. But one year they had an enormous display of Origami Paper Cranes hanging from the ceiling, in long colorful strings, all made by children and patrons of all ages. It was really glorious! read more

We love the kids story times at this library. There's another branch closer to our home, but we drive a little further to come to this library-- especially love the gentleman story teller. I visited this library on a Sunday afternoon to study for a test. Unfortunately, it is small, it was crowded, but my biggest complaint would be the noise. Children talking and running around, people speaking on cell phones, and one particular lady reading out loud to another all the information on her computer screen. Even when I looked over in her direction various times, to see if she'd understand, she just kept on. No one from the library staff indicated silence. So, not only did I leave but the lady next to this woman's computer also left to a very distant one. Aren't libraries to read or study within a quiet environment? Well, not this one. Mill Creek's seems more of a Starbucks space than a quiet study place. read more

I am sorry to say we no longer feel welcome at this library after being one of two mothers ( black and Indian) singled out repeatedly prior to story time this morning. I could totally understand if our children were out of line, but we were approached based on a perception of how "our" children might act and to make sure they didn't trample over the other children since this was a baby-24month open to the public story time. Even after explaining we are in appropriate class ( I heard the other mother tell her the same, her son was 2) the storyteller continued to single us out. I offered to leave at this point. Jackie, I believe, said it's not a problem she just wanted to make me aware of the other children.( umm we are at a kids story time????) Mind you my baby had not done anything to cause this lady to assume she would be inappropriate around the other children and the other mother was the only mother sitting at a table with her son coloring when she was approached while the other children were free to roam about, the parents chatting it up not once bother with this shenanigans. Ackwardly as the room filled and kids took their seat on the floor the other mother left the library. I wheeled a chair to the back a placed my cane down while my daughter socialized with another girl that was walking around, moments after I was approached for the third time with 15 minutes and was asked to keep Naimah by my side while ALL of the other kids where playing with each other. I gathered myself and my daughter on the wheeled chair to leave because it was obvious we were no longer welcome in Jackie's class. But the reason I write this is to remind Jackie and Mill Creek that they have the luxury of getting up and maneuvering everyday as they please. I'm a disabled mother with a toddler... wheelchair, walker, or a cane this story time is all we have some days we are not at the doctor appointments. This is my commitment to quality mommy daughter time any day I can pull myself out of bed, let alone out of the house granted that may be 2-3 times a month but we come to Mill Creek library. To hear my daughter screaming " I just want to read, mommy no I want to read" as we left was heartbreaking, and I know you heard her. She sat in the car crying while the proclaimed "appropriate parents and their kids " walked past the car after story time was over not understanding the blessing they have to just sit and enjoy a learning experience and create joyful memories. How do you explain to a two year old what just happened? All other kids can be kids except her? What memories will she now have about her favorite place. How can you undo that? This is when an apology just isn't enough *************UPDATE************************** Darlene Weber managing librarian called Saturday to express her sincerest apologies I'm behalf of the Mill Creek library. She agreed that it should be up to the parents discretion on what they feel is appropriate for their child, reiterated storytimes are not restricted to ages it's just a recommendation based on content. She gave me her personal phone number let me know where welcome back in the library and to call her directly if I have any further issues. I informed Ms Weber as stated in my post apologies can only do so much. And it's in fortunate that the other mother had to leave and you won't be able to contact her. Ms. Weber said "oh there was another mother??" (A very long sigh) I let Ms.Weber know that her apology is now a mere acknowledgment of receipt of my complaint, if she would have read my complaint she would've known about our mother. If Ms Weber would of read the other public post about the library she would have known this was not isolated, complaints from other mothers go back as far as 2014. I reminded Ms Weber of the statistics of claimant reporting; for every 1 reported the dozens that are not. Management in charge of hiring staff to plant seeds in our children at a tax payers venue should take this matter far more serious than blanket call of "sincere apology". I express further disappointment at the handling of the matter as this apology was reported to be the result of an "investigation". At that point Ms Weber said she would personally speak to the librarian. Assuming each staff member must of had at least one class of early childhood development and the fact that I offered to leave and this behavior persisted , a "investigation" was performed without recognition of this being reoccurring issue, This leaves me to question intent at multiple levels. How am I to believe you will address and resolve an issue demonstrated you don't understand? As we proceed read more

My grand baby has been coming here for a year. They have been through multiple employees. They have story time my grand baby has been sitting in there for a year. This new lady had a problem with my daughter I guess her nationality and kept harassing my daughter about my grand daughter until my daughter left. My grand daughter was screaming and yelling on the phone with me saying the people didn't want her there anymore. This is totally unacceptable after been going there for a year. I will make sure the county knows about this type of harassment because of a new story teller employee. I hope no other children two years old or not traumatized like this. I am giving three stars because the librarian at the entrance was nice and helpful. I came with my 30 month old toddler for the reading activity. All the mothers were with their toddlers while the lady in charge read and sang songs. I noticed she was not into it or child oriented as if she did not want to do the activity. I stayed only for 30 minutes as I did not like for her to be scolding some toddlers that were jumping or doing some other things that were not sitting and listening. I was bothered because as a teacher at this age is very difficult for them to sit down and just listen to stories. It is normal for some toddlers to kick the floor, talk , laugh, cry or run. She was not patient or interested in what she was doing. I just left with my toddler after she told her not to sit on the parachute. For God sake they can not walk properly they will fall and will take time to get up and continue the activity. Before my toddler was able to get up and me to help her , this lady was scolding her. I am not planning to come to this activity in this library. I will definitely try another library. read more

This library is small. And run down. It's a small run down shack. Miserable Cd and DVD selection. Noise has nowhere to go so it's always very loud. Where'd the two star rating come from? One star for location (five min. from my house) and one star for touch screen computers. King County Libraries kick Sno-Isle's behind. I never go to Sno-Isle Libraries. I go to KCLS libraries like 5 times a week. Maybe more. Not kidding. I don't mind the 20 minute drive. For Mill Creek being so nice, they sure have a sad library. Oh, and the parking lot fits like 2 cars. That's a very slight exaggeration. There really is no parking. Sometimes I have to do a few laps until someone leaves. But of course I just passed the leaving person's car so by the time I make a full lap, someone else has stolen MY spot. Just don't bother and go to Kenmore, or Lake Forest Park, or Bothell. I love the snohomish county library system. I go online and order the books I want, and when they become available the library notifies me, and I pick them up. I use the self check out, and help myself. It is the easiest system possible, and very convenient. Although additional parking has been added, the place is constantly crowded. That is the only thing preventing me from giving my local library 5 stars!! Otherwise, I LOVE IT!!!! Way to go snohomish county. read more

I have been coming there for a few years and yes it is small but but I find the people working there very helpful and every time I return something ,it is taken off almost at once. Looks like the Mill Creek branch library needs some love from the public! I'm here to defend you little library of local love! I've been coming here regularly since 2010 and in the past 7 years have not had any of the negative experiences that others have. The place is clean, and no it's not massive, but it's cozy and comfortable. I don't like libraries that are the size of Wal Marts anyway. I usually go in the mid morning to early afternoon and I've never walked in and thought that the place was overly crowded, and I have always walked in and found a computer free to use right away. Personally, I don't mind the privacy screens on the computers. Lots of libraries have those, and I frankly don't want strangers up in my computer screen business anyway. ;) Also, I don't get some of the previous comments that this location is loud. Yes, you hear the little kiddos having a good time, but that is to be expected! Now, i'll grant you that the parking lot is too small (that's the reason i'm giving the place 4 instead of 5 stars) but there is the additional overflow lot to the right of it so I have always been able to find a place to park as people are constantly coming and going. The staff has always been nice to me, and kudos to staff member Alana for consistently being extra awesome and helpful. I really dig our local library and i'm awfully glad it's here! :) read more
