I called for a ride w/ my friends from my house to go downtown early on a Saturday evening. The dispatcher was very abrupt with me, and took my address. Before she hung up on me, I asked her an approximate ETA. She said, "I don't know." I asked if it would be 30 minutes or longer, she said, "I don't know." Really? 30 minutes later, still no cab. I called another cab company (Checker/Yellow Cab), and they were at my house in less than 15 minutes. Guess what? 46 minutes after the original call, still no cab! So, I did the courteous thing and called to cancel. All she said was "Thank You" but I have no idea if the cab was ever going to show up. I think not! read more

The other night at the restaurant where I work I called Greater Detroit for 2 cabs for a group of intoxicated customers. I cautioned them that cab service left something to be desired in this town and when they asked told them dispatch never gives an ETA. 40 minutes and another round later no cabs had materialized. I reiterated to one of the griping patrons how dismal cab service was and he said "Now he tells us". Well, I had said something before; he was just wasted and wasn't listening. But that shouldn't even be an issue. This group, visiting from out of town, somehow glommed onto a shuttle from someplace else. I never bothered to called back Greater Detroit to cancel. That's because my gut feeling was right - the jerks never showed up. You'd think if you called for two cabs MAYBE you could get at least one. It's pretty embarrassing to work in the hospitality industry and try to be a good ambassador to out-of-towners only to have unreliable cab service throw some shade onto their time in the D. In some perverse way I can be proud of the abandoned buildings, the graffiti, the lack of wealth and upscale amenities, the potholes, the danger and the corruption; Detroit is the gritty wild, wild Midwest. But if you can't hang at least you should be able to get a damn cab and get the fuck outta Dodge. Sadly, this is often not the case. Next time I'm trying Checker. So you can look forward to me also slamming them sometime in the future. P.S. I don't know who this M D. character is, but don't listen to his or her glowing review. I take cabs every day. The last 14 days I have called GD, and 14 times in a a row they did not show up. Since this company has moved their service has sucked balls. I have had a greater driver pull over, pull out a small coffee cup and start to piss in it while in the driver seat. Unfortunately he had to piss more than the 6oz the cup would hold and he sprayed urine all over himself and the front seat like he was putting out a dashboard fire. He then tried to jack me on the fare like I was a suburban tourist. They used to kick ass, now they suck. Don't call Greater. read more

I was coming home via amtrak and arrived late at night -- too late to feel comfortable walking the eight blocks to my house -- so I called for a cab. The dispatcher was very rude and said hung up before confirming my location. I called back and she said "yeah, we got it the first time. Are you going to be a problem?" So I walked home. The next day I asked the security guard about he said the cab showed up TWO hours later and that that driver was super drunk. Lovely. Glad I walked home underneath the shady overpass and the by all of those scary abandoned houses rather than riding with a drunk cab driver. read more

We called 2 times and then still continued to wait for over 40 minutes for a cab. In which cab never arrived and we had to start walking to our destination. Then we ended up having to have a friend pick us up and take us home. This is completely ridiculous and we will never use this cab service again. As Detroit grows and parking gets harder to find this service will never survive. read more

Shadiest cab company EVER. He picks us up from the hotel, drives a mile away to a really bad neighborhood, turns the meter off, and proceedes to tell us that the $50 cab ride to the airport was going to be $120. Do not ever use this company. read more

I sympathize with the others who had a bad experience. I met the best driver this company could have ever had, and his name was Ray S. He was my personal cab driver when I needed to go anywhere, but mostly to the Greyhonund bus station. My last time riding with Ray was in June of this year to the bus station, he always informed me who my driver was and what bus to take to avoid crowds which he knew I hated. Now going back to the bus station during thanksgiving holiday, a clerk stated, " you miss Ray don't you?' I went I havent' seen or heard from him I've been trying to call him for months! She stated, " He had passed away months ago." I was so upset, and still can't believe it. So my experience with Ray being a driver of this cab company was great! I"m so sorry for those who did not have Ray as your driver. He was courteous, patient, kind, and always told you an estimated time because he also dropped off the bus drivers to their destinations. He is truly going to be missed. Rest in peace Ray, and I'm so sorry we didn't have a chance to say good-bye. Brinda Oak Park, Mich. read more

I've had better experiences. Had to wait 30 min for them to come pick me up. The driver was on the phone the whole time arguing with his wife. They are no longer located at 138 W Fisher Fwy Detroit, MI 48201, they moved to Southfield when their lot got bought out for a new hockey arena. read more
