We came to this practice after a disappointing experience with another orthodontist in Houston. I had already paid in full, and my daughter was fitted with an expander that she wore for about a year and a half. I diligently followed the instructions, turning the key as instructed, and we attended all recommended check-ups. Then, one day, the expander--and the teeth it was attached to--came out entirely. I was concerned and immediately contacted an orthodontist friend in another state, who confirmed that this should not have happened. He advised us to see another orthodontist. Fortunately, the teeth that were extracted were baby teeth, but I didn't feel comfortable bringing my daughter back to that practice after that. That led us to Dr. Mehr at Greater Houston Orthodontics. From the front desk staff to the assistants and doctors, everyone has been kind, helpful, and supportive throughout the entire process. I've had a great experience here. I got Invisalign to help fix teeth crowding and improve my bite. I specifically went to them because of their diamond Invisalign status. Everyone I met was really considerate and attentive. My scans and check-ins all went smoothly. I did have to go through an additional round of trays, but third was anticipated a majority of people with Invisalign have to go through at least 2 rounds. I think they said an excellent job and I finished my predicted treatment of 2.6 years in 1.5 years, including the second trays. I highly recommend them for orthodontic services. read more

It's obvious when someone loves his job. He's happy. He's confident. Because he's good at what he does. Dr. Davoody embodies that, as does the gallery of diplomas and certificates. My only issue is that he rushes through his patients. The patient beds system is streamlined and the staff is super kind but he goes through patients one after another like there's a lion chasing after him. My children's dentist recommended orthodontic work for my children, and then gave a recommendation list of three orthodontists in my area. I feel so incredibly fortunate that I selected Greater Houston Orthodonics. First off, Dr. Davoody is simply outstanding. I'm not given to hyperbole, but not only is he an OUTSTANDING orthodontist, he one of the best physicians I've ever encountered in my life period. He ALWAYS takes the time to carefully explain the actions he's planning on taking regarding my children's orthodontic work. I've occasionally asked to speak with him to gain additional clarification, and he ALWAYS is gracious enough to stop what he's doing to address my concerns. He's done absolute wonders on my kids' teeth (and for one of my kids, nearly a miracle as far as I'm concerned). Secondly, Dr. Davoody has assembled the best medical and front office staff I've ever dealt with. All are extremely personable and professional. As an illustration, one of my kids has a knack for 'messing' up either his wires or braces (or both). Greater Houston Orthodontics goes above and beyond to accommodate same day (sometimes same morning or afternoon!) 'emergency' appointments to address these issues. I can't tell you from personal experience that other orthodontists offices are NOT so accommodating. Heck, they're even open on the occasional Saturday. Once again, if you have kids w/ orthodontic work, you've no doubt had that 'wonderful' feeling in the pit of your stomach when your child has an 'issue' with their ortho work on a Friday evening. Those Saturdays are a Godsend. Another nice little touch is that Greater Houston Orthodontistics runs nice little contests throughout the year, where you can win nifty little prizes. My kids enjoy playing these games (some akin to 'Where's Waldo') in the hopes of one day scoring some of that cool swag. In any event, it should go without saying that I recommend GHO, Dr. Davoody, and his staff unconditionally. Quality orthodontic work isn't cheap. Every single time I have been to this place, I have had a horrible experience. I don't think anyone has great experiences at a dentist office anyway. Dr.Davoody is a great doctor, it's just the clumsy nurses that are the problem. Every single time I go there, I end up with an injury at the end and being unhappy. Also the wait is always extremely long and they are never on time. It's probably not their fault, if a kid takes too much time, but for example if I show up for a 12:30 appointment, I would actually get out of the waiting room until 12:50. It's ridiculous. They should just get a bigger room, or have better time management. Dr.Davoody is a great doctor, he always takes the time to carefully explain what he is about to do. He is a really smart guy. If there were 20 Dr.Davoodys running around the place it would be so much better. read more

Most reviews are for child ortho, but I came here as an adult patient. I had been working with another dental office prior to this who sold me invisalign and was in the middle of treatment before moving to Texas. After consulting with Dr Davoody, he explained that my case was much more complicated and invisalign would not fully correct my teeth. Years early, I was told by another orthodontist that I would need to have my jaw broken to be able to align my bite, but he was able to utilize a newer technique with mini screws in order to fix the major problems that the braces would not address. Shortly after starting my treatment, I had to move out of state for work. Instead of switching to a new provider, I travel back to Texas monthly which is a less than ideal situation. Greater Houston Ortho makes this as painless and convenient as possible. They've fit me into their schedule and accommodated me beyond what most businesses probably would have. It's always nice to come in to an office of smiling faces after traveling hours just to get there. Without fail, Alex, one of the dental assistants, has a great attitude and a reflection of the type of knowledgeable, positive employees that Dr. Davoody surrounds himself with. Update: I'm six months into my orthodontics course with Incognito braces, and I have to say it is one of the best decisions I've ever made. I had been told by previous orthodontists that I wasn't eligible for Invisalign or that I would need to have a tooth extracted first, but luckily I didn't settle for any of those opinions. Of course it was painful initially (they are braces, after all) but after a month or so I managed to adjust. Having braces that are essentially invisible, without having to remove anything before I eat, has been hugely advantageous; it makes me far less self-conscious than I would have been otherwise. Greater Houston Orthodontics is great about being flexible in appointment scheduling, and anytime I've had a dental "emergency" (e.g. broken rubber band), they're always able to accommodate and get me in immediately. Plus, the waiting room has wifi so you can browse the internet (although I've never had to wait longer than ten minutes) and a coffeemaker. I truly couldn't imagine a better experience! read more

Like most people, I had braces as a teenager but didn't do a good job of wearing my retainers. Naturally, my teeth shifted over the years. I contemplated about getting Invisalign treatment over the years and finally decided to do it at Greater Houston Orthodontics. Overall, my experiences with Dr. Davoody, Dr. Mehr, and Dr. Adam were very pleasant. They did a great job of explaining how my teeth were tracking and answered my questions. My treatment coincided with the COVID pandemic, which was a new experience. The doctors were very accommodating to virtual visits (if that made you more comfortable). The office took proper precautions to keep patients safe. I was also very impressed with the dental staff and the front office. I had to reschedule a couple of times, and they were very patient and worked with my schedule. Never had a bad interaction with them. I don't use this orthodontist, but I have accompanied my partner to many appointments. The office is always super busy, but the appointment are managed efficiently and you never wait very long. The staff is very friendly and professional, they offer you coffee and remind you that they have Wi-Fi. The office provides no-nonsense financing for major orthodontic work, which was very helpful. My partner got braces, and they had a number of different technologies to choose from. The orthodontist also seems very friendly. Overall, it's a good experience. read more

I made an appointment to see Dr. Davoody at the West U location. I arrived early for my appointment for a consultation. After waiting 45 minutes after my appointment time I decided to leave. There were several people who arrived before me that were still waiting. I feel that's an indication of how my future appointments would be. We've been coming here a year already, and it's always been a bad experience with the wait time. We always wait 30 minutes to 1 hour to be seen. Yet I see multiple patients come in and seen within minutes. I don't know if it has to do that most patients seen here are not Hispanics and my daughter is. I hope that's not the case. Also when she is seen they take about 8 min avg to adjust her braces, but other people take longer. I hope with all the money that we are paying they are doing the job correctly. And lastly, I had set up automatic payments and every 2 months they call saying my daughter has a balance for two months. I'm tired of having to give my card info each time to expect automated payments and it's not happening. They don't even see if a patient is due for a follow up and call to see when they're coming. Definitely would not recommend anyone to this place. Horrible experiences thus far, and we still have to come for a another whole year. read more

I work in the medical center and often drove by this establishment. I had braces many many years ago and recently had a minor problem with my permanent retainer coming loose. I put off going to an orthodontist as my original orthodontist had long since closed his practice. Additionally I visited another orthodontist for a similar problem about 2 years ago and was treated badly and charged a wad of money. Finally when I could put off my retainer issue no longer I decided to visit his office as it was convenient near my job plus I read his good reviews and hoped for the best. I was not disappointed! Not only did Dr. Davoody fix my problem quickly and easily he did not charge me one penny! That's right folks not ONE penny! This same problem with my retainer years ago cost me 500 hundred bucks and a lot of aggravation.
