Just the worst.. Having been a customer for a couple years using the Carson and the Minden locations, I can say it's the worst bank I've ever dealt with, no doubt. Awful customer service, no call backs when requested, weird fees for not using my ATM at least 9 times per month and even worse when trying to close out my bank account and loan, (wanted $5 just to send a monthly statement after they shut off online access). Also annoying that as someone of Italian descent, they went woke and cancelled a Federal Holiday, (Columbus Day), and replaced it with Indigenous Day. (Gov. Joe Lombardo issued a proclamation designating Aug. 9 as Indigenous Peoples' Day in Nevada). When I asked about it on X support they blocked me lol. read more

Greater Nevada is one of my banks I bank with. I love that they are local and do feel like service is better than some of the bigger names we're used to. I stopped by in passing to make a deposit and get a cashier's check. I was in and out in less than 10 minutes; 6-7 to be exact. Talk about service! Everyone was warm and inviting; definitely recommend this location. If you're looking to shop around for a mortgage or car rate; they can usually offer a better interest rate on your loan online. I love that if I have an issue; I'm able to send a message in my app to have most issues addressed with a guaranteed response within 24 hours from their customer service team. Most incidents I had were all answered by the end of day; I have only had to wait that long with the fraud department. GNCU is a bank that I feel values my time and I'll happily chose to keep my accounts here for years to come. read more

This bank charged me an INCOMING wire fee. Their whole business is collecting deposits and loaning money. I wired a big chunk in, which would lead most banks to say, "thanks. Our whole business is collecting deposits so we appreciate your deposit." Instead, GNCU hits you with a pissy little fee. I hope this bank goes out of business because they trust people terribly. read more

Greater Nevada (GNCU) is one of the banks I bank with, and I am so grateful to have a local credit union that offers such great customer service in person, on the phone and online. I frequent the locations in Spanish Springs, UNR and Lemmon Valley. I have had some issues with fraudulent activity and charges on my account which has always been solved promptly and efficiently. I also took out my home mortgage with Greater Nevada which sadly I only had for a few months before it was sold off to another lender. As far as the app, I love the easy to use access to my accounts and the loan options for members. Lastly I appreciate all the member perks like discounted tickets to the Aces and Wolf Pack games. I was truly offended at the bait and switch tactics you employed with me. Your offer which claimed to be pre-approved was at 4.5%. When I was contacted the rate quoted was nearly 2% higher. Customer Service You open a business account your told after 30 days holds on deposits would be over. Wednesday I made a deposit Friday after thanksgiving the funds cleared from the check, that same day I am provided a token of our deposit, Monday I called them to get the funds released because I called the issuer of the check who verified the funds were cleared. They still refused to release my funds. Go any place but avoid this credit union. read more

Our Genoa house is paid off, but we still took out a home equity line of credit (HELOC) to cover home repair surprises. We obtained our HELOC through the Minden Branch of the Greater Nevada Credit Union, and all is good. The application process (and annual follow-up) process was smooth. read more

In the past I had two times where the wait time was far too long, and no one from the outer offices would bother to help alleviate the wait. I expected the same today and was very happy to see a person come out from the offices to assist anyone who had a non-cash transaction, pulling 3 people from the line in front of me (one at a time of course). Then, when I got the the front of the line, I was assisted with a deposit for a client by Fannie. She was thorough, efficient and very pleasant. My opinion of GNCU Gardnerville Branch has done a 180, all because of the unnamed person who came out of the office to help and Fannie, a very good teller, experienced and friendly, while taking care to advise me to use the Member number next time to more easily find the client account. I have been a member since 1987. When Greater Nevada Credit Union was a small credit union. In the past years, it has grown to a large establishment. It has grown into a credit union that doesn't have the small town services. Long wait times. You usually end up in their overflow center. I ended up closing all my accounts since I have moved out of state. After having to make 3 attempts and 65 minutes to make contact with a person. who transferred me to their fraud center. Then I was referred back to the main number. It's too bad. It was a great banking institution. read more

Every time I put my information to figure out why I can't login to pay a bill makes me so upset I want to scream. Our first exposure to this location and I can't help but wonder where have you been all my life? From the minute we walked in these ladies pampered us like we were family. After a brief question and answer session, we understood all the options offered. Business banking and loan options. Personal savings and checking, even mortgage and heloc solutions. We're also looking into a safe deposit box and can't wait to use the onsite ATM (available 24/7). They even have a coin counting machine. I've always used credit unions from the time I was a boy. The one we use now is very good with necessary services, but not at all convenient. With Greater Nevada, we'll have 3 nearby locations. I also like the complimentary coffee, water and cookies! They also sponsor the Reno Aces baseball club. Different promotions featured throughout the summer! read more

Just a follow up on my previous review of the greater Nevada credit union. As you might know by reading my past review, my account was closed by the bank with cash in it. The bank stated that they were going to send me a cashiers check That has not happened and it's been over two months since this happened. This bank has basically stole my money. At this point, I am forced to get a lawyer involved. Beware this bank will do the same to you. read more

Friendly people inside. No problems banking with them. Their website and app are pretty limited compared to non-credit-union banks, but it does what I need it to do. My complaint is that going in the lobby I am hit with a massive wall of artificially scented air. This stuff is toxic and damaging to the lungs. I feel for the people who have to work there all day. I use the ATM whenever possible just for this reason. read more

If I could give a review of zero I would. This is still a small town; and I hope this is helpful to both existing customers of GNCU that have not been treated correctly and new individuals that are moving into the area. This review is concerning the management and staff of the CARSON CITY BRANCH of Greater Nevada Credit Union. We lost our mother on June 2018. As many know that have experienced a loss, there is an extraordinary amount of paperwork to handle during a very emotional and difficult time. The staff of the CARSON CITY BRANCH that interacted with myself and my brother could not have treated us more disrespectfully. Their lack of courtesy, professionalism, and compassion has been unthinkable. We started the process on June 21 and we have had no less then 5 trips and numerous calls with them; just to try to PAY THEM OFF! The untruths, run-a-around, and lack of knowledge in their jobs was immense. More over, with every interaction we have been made to feel like we are "untrustworthy" while conducting the business of our mother's trust. You cannot "teach" compassion or empathy; but you can teach professionalism and customer service. This training needs to come from the top, i.e. management. However, the management of the CARSON CITY BRANCH has taken more time telling us "what she has done right" and lecturing us, the customers. It is time to change banks. This Credit Union is the WORST CU I have ever dealt with. I have a personal and Business account with them and have nothing but PROBLEMS with my online business account. I can say they are good with a loan but definitely not banking. I will be taking my business and personal account elsewhere asap. For the last 4 months Ive had to call and transfer money because I can't transfer online since their system is all messed up. I am VERY UNHAPPY with GNCU. Why would ANYone use a commercial bank when there's a credit union nearby? The employees, loan rates, and service are all top-notch. You can't beat the GNCU. This branch has just about any banking-type service you'd ever need, including mortgages, a "change counting" machine, on-the-spot replacements for lost/damaged ATM cards, AND safe deposit boxes. Another advantage of this branch is that it's in a small town; the employees there will likely get to know you by name. Also, the GNCU online banking is second to none. read more

Do yourself a huge favor and DO NOT bank here. I never write reviews unless I am either very happy or extremely unsatisfied with a company. In this case I am Very Extremely unhappy with this credit union. I have been banking with GNCU for over 6 years and never had any problems in the past (overdraft, insufficient funds, etc.) I recently moved out of Nevada to Utah so I stopped using my GNCU account when it fell to below $50. A member of my household was using a shared computer and made an order on amazon.com and accidentally selected my GNCU account to make the payment. This charge brought my account down to $3.00. One more $4.00 charge was denied due to insufficient funds Since I was not using the account, I didn't check it regularly and when I did check, I had a balance of -$180. (3 "non-sufficient fund fees because the vendor attempted to charge my account multiple times and 7 days of $10 overdraft charges) I spoke with amazon.com about the unauthorized transaction and they refunded the charge and charged me with a different form of payment. When I contacted GNCU to let them know about the mistake and ask for a reversal of fees they said they will only reverse the fees if the mistake is their fault but they said I may be eligible for a "courtesy fee reversal". I immediately replied by e-mail "great, please review my account for a courtesty fee reversal." They replied that I would need to contact their "risk management department" I contacted the risk management department and they made me explain to them what happened with my account so I told them everything. After telling them the story, they said I need to speak with GNCU member services. I contacted GNCU member services by phone, they told me I need to write an e-mail to GNCU member services. I wrote an e-mail to GNCU member services, they said I need to contact risk management... Can you see my frustration? This story is to be continued but I highly recomend to stay away from this trainwreck of "customer service" read more

This is the least friendliest bank I've banked with in 45 years! They should count out ever getting best of.

Terrible customer service if you have a serious problem. They've had $468 of our money tied up with a mistake that THEY made, have charged us with fees on it, and have dragged the situation out for far too long. This has gone on for over a month. We deposited a check using the ATM machine (don't EVER do this), which proceeded to break down AFTER eating our check. We were told that they couldn't do anything until the service person came to fix it. The check finally got deposited, but was returned because GNCU re-submitted it for payment! The check was a refund from our insurance company, so we went to them first, but it turns out to be GNCU's fault. So, we go to them & have gotten nothing but the runaround since. They've had our money for OVER a month already. We've been promised phone call after phone call to let us know the status, but have NEVER received the calls we were promised. We keep having to go back over and over again to check and see what's going on, and STILL get the runaround. Pretty poor customer service, if you ask me. When they want YOUR MONEY, they're all over it. When WE NEED OUR MONEY, they could care less. This is only one of several issues we've had with them, but this is by far the worst of the worst and deserves a bad review. I may actually report them to the FDIC as well as the NCUA. It would be fitting, seeing as what they're doing is against the rules. read more

Had a very disappointing experience with this credit union. I took my epileptic mother and aging father on a bi-weekly outing. They had to do basic business at the bank and had a few simple questions. Normally service is excellent. Unfortunately, on this trip, my parents were met with an employee whom identified himself as Chris the manager. After so much as hardly saying hello, he began to automatically drill my parents about their accounts. He mentioned an account where they could earn better interest. My mother politely declined and added other employees had mentioned it to her before. He at this point became very condescending, sarcastic, and rude. He would not accept no for an answer. Some of the comments included, "Well, it's your fault your losing money." And "Only an idiot doesn't want to earn more money." My folks may be older, but they are sharp. Implying idiocy on your customer is beyond comprehension because they do not want to change their account. The belittling harassment did not end there. He then began insisting they need to speak with a financial advisor. My parents respectfully declined as they already have one, and the comments and constant grilling continued. The facial expressions I was seeing were appalling. As my parents were out the door, I was grabbing a cup of water. Obviously the manager didn't realize we were together, because at this point I heard him laughing, as well as badmouthing them and their decision! The next time we are there we will likely be closing all of our accounts. I cannot help but link this behavior with taking advantage of the elderly. If this behavior is encouraged as part of this credit union's policies, then we do not want to conduct business there anymore nor should anyone else. I am so disgusted and infuriated I made an account on here to warn others of this predatory behavior. No manager or employee of any financial institution should behave this way. 4/10/15 Been banking here for a few years since my first review. Jeri, has been a delight to deal with she helped me set up multiple accounts and explains things very gently to me. I admittedly am full of questions, all the time, and everyone on staff is so kind and helpful. I know that this bank as lines sometimes and sometimes they have issues with their drive up ATM. But all banks do ! 12/22/13---I really like this bank. Friendly staff and shared branch banking. The online banking system they have is good too! Sometimes the lines are long and the tellers seem slow so I don't recommend going in during busy times unless you don't have to be somewhere. read more

I have had now 3 times that GNCU has put a hold on my deposits to create non- sufficient fund charges on my account. It is a way for them to manipulate their policies against you. They have taken my deposits and run them through within 24 to 48 hours normally. However, when they know that they can manipulate their polices they will hold your deposits for 3 - 4 days. In order to discuss any issue in this form they only have you use message system, denying direct contact with a customer representative. I am done dealing with this manipulation. I would recommend not having any money in this Credit Union, as what I see is that they do not care about how they treat their customers. Personally I really feel that I would not give them any star rating for this reason. read more

I just love it at GNCU in Minden. Finally, there has not been as much turnover in staff as previous years. It is nice to go in have the same friendly faces greeting you. I so enjoy the small town feel and being recognized when I walk in. There is a high standard of professionalism with a fine balance of friendliness. An update:got two emails from "Kate, regarding this issue. These emails were immediate upon my post. She had "Ash Greenspan," sales manager, contact me. Kate was extremely helpful and respectful. She also followed up with any needs or questions I might ask. Mr. Greenspan contacted me quickly, did a courtesy reverse on the charge, gave me his personal cell phone number for follow up. Unfortunately I have had more bad experiences than good here. Some of the girls are just wonderful but if one of them is not available you are better off just going home and getting that fee for not making your payment or getting the deposit in on time. The gentlemen that worked here before were great and had good customer service the same cannot be said(not even hinted at) with the current "dude" that is there. And I say "dude" because unless you are a cute young woman he will not give you the time of day, cant even bother to look up from his phone to greet you as you walk in the door. Very sad to say this branch had a high turn over rate for a while, and then things seemed to get better and you knew just about everyone there but again its all new faces. Why? are they moving up in the company? are they leaving? why such a high turnover? and why are they hiring people who know nothing of banking nor customer service? If I call asking a question I would expect to be greeted with a welcoming tone and a helpful voice whether they can help me or not, not a rude person insinuating that I am stupid for not knowing the answer. You can feel the tension when you walk through the doors you can see the unhappiness behind the fake smiles that the workers try to pass off just to try to make your experience the best that they can.
