Clean facility and members are generally very welcoming to new members. Dedicated staff and excellent classes available.

Been working out at…read morevarious gyms over 30 years and this is definitely one of the best regarding available equipment and tidiness. What I appreciate most is that most of the customers put away their weights and re-rack, certainly more than most other gyms I've been to. One minor complaint is that the dumbbell racks could be better arranged such that the weights progressively increase as you go down the rack, instead of the not so intuitive way they are now. Other than that, no significant complaints. Staff has been friendly whenever I've gone, and at least in the middle of the day when I've worked out, gym isn't crowded. I buy a week pass for $29, also very reasonably priced for a guest pass.

And thought this gym was even nicer. The equipment was newer and the front desk staff was really friendly. The locker rooms are pretty basic -- a few showers and lockers, but was very clean. The gym was massive and located on the top level of the Steamtown Mall. I loved that the welcome to Scranton sign from "The Office" was just outside the gym's entrance. The gym also offered tanning facilities and a hydro-massage bed. It looked intriguing, but I didn't have enough time to get in the massage. After the workout, I ended up going over to Old Forge, which is the self-proclaimed "Pizza Capitol of the World" and had a few slices. Well, there goes my workout!

********Core Fitness********…read more Here is another example of a local business with a myopic view of how to treat a customer. I joined Core Fitness in June of 2019 for a one year contract. I was not told that the fine print authorizes an automatic renewal after the contract expires. So when the gym closed due to Covid, my contract was in breach. The gym re-opened when allowed by the state. I never received another automatic debit from my checking account when they opened back up and I never set foot inside the door due to covid related concerns. I received a call today from the gym telling me that my account was delinquent. It took the gym 9-10 months to call me and ask for money. I explained that my membership was expired and that I owed nothing as well as the fact that I hadn't used the gym. I was told that I owed them $285 dollars anyway. I again challenged the validity of the contract. Again I was told that I owe they money. I will tell every person that I can, not to use Core Fitness. Maybe if the gym had acted professionally and called they're customers after they reopened to see if they wanted to renew a membership during a pandemic they would have had a leg to stand on. Long story short....the bill is paid and I will never set foot in that establishment and I hope that others will not as well. Maggie related that she had made many calls today so there must be many people that they're fleecing for money to pay for all of the renovations. It's shameful to abuse the customer!

Well, here I am six years later writing yet another review for the gym I came back to. Six years…read moreago, I left for crunch gyms in downtown Scranton. Exceptional facility but I just wasn't a fan of traversing the downtown traffic and parking in a parking garage that got backed up during work hours. I returned to a Planet Fitness with some updated machines, the same layout, and unfortunately the same major issue that made me walk away from it six years ago. Let me be perfectly clear here, I have a gym membership for one reason and that is to go on the treadmill for about an hour to an hour and a half every other day. During that time, I like to put on my iPhone and catch up on streaming shows or movies. Six years later, I am still running into the same instances of Planet Fitness having some of the worst Wi-Fi imaginable. The Wi-Fi simply cannot handle the bandwidth whether it's on a low amount of foot traffic day or when the gym is fairly crowded it's always the same result. Buffering, pixelated images, and videos that simply freeze in the middle of viewing. The Wi-Fi is an advertised offering of the gym, but what's the point of offering this to its paying customers when it's barely functional the way it is. I am less than a month into my new membership and I'm already regretting my decision. I'd rather fight the traffic of downtown Scranton and return to Crunch Fitness than have to deal with an establishment they can't fulfill advertised perks or offerings to its members..............STILL. I am still in disbelief that this is still an issue all these years later.

It also closes early every Friday and sometimes it inexplicably opens late and/or closes early on Sundays. It has a pool, but it is frequently booked for private parties or cannot be used because there's not a same-sex lifeguard on duty. It's also very small and people do not respect the lanes. They recently replaced all the equipment, but the new equipment is already malfunctioning. It's also all made by the same manufacturer, so if you don't like it, you're out of luck. Kids are constantly in the gym, hanging out and monopolizing equipment that they are not actually using. Calling staff enforcement of gym rules lax would actually be generous. The staff is more interested in socializing or exercising than actually doing their job. The locker rooms are often disgusting, with wet floors and clothes strewn about a common occurrence and there is no respect for boundaries or hygiene. Gym goers will sit on locker room benches completely nude, without even a towel, and think little or nothing of it. You pay a lot of money for a gym that can't be used because it's always either closed or just disgusting.
