Campsite (3/5): These are a bit stacked on top of each other but our group had two next to each other so it didn't impact us too much. Ambiance (4/5): These campsites are right on the water which is absolutely stunning! You really feel like you're in nature, but there is a major road near the top campsites and even by the water you can hear road noise. There was a huge group at the top which partied into the night though we're up late anyhow and it was no issue for us. Consider earplugs if you're not like us. Bathrooms (4/5): These were relatively clean for a campground bathroom. Minus a star here because on the last day the women's room was out of order -- but I believe it was due to another guest, as a member of our party heard someone say "oh no it's not flushing!" TL;DR: Great for those late-into-the-night campers. If you stay here make sure you get a waterfront spot.

After we were dropped off at the launch point, one employee gave a quick safety speech and then disappeared. No one helped us tie our tubes together or navigate the steep drop-off with our tubes to get into the water, which was extremely slippery and rocky. We were told the float would take 2-2.5 hours. This was wildly inaccurate. It took us an hour to float from the drop-off point back to camp. When we previously did the trip from Barryville, the float was much longer. For what we paid, this was a complete waste of money. Then, when we reached the ending point around 4 p.m., we were harassed by three teenage employees who were yelling at us and demanding that we bring up our tubes immediately. There was no one else going out with those tubes at that time, and we simply wanted to sit and relax for a few minutes since the float had been so short. The employees were unnecessarily rude and nasty about it. I feel bad for the people who paid to camp out on this site. It was pathetically small and claustrophobic. Do yourself a favor and book a float trip with another company. After this experience, I would not return to or recommend Kittatinny Canoes at either base camp. EDIT/UPDATE: After the owner's response, I wanted to provide some additional context because I don't feel her response accurately reflects what we experienced. First, regarding the float time: the website states that the trip is 2-3 hours, not 2-2.5 hours. I understand that river conditions can affect the timing, but the conditions on Saturday were considered normal summer levels, with no flood warnings or high water advisories. Our float was significantly shorter than the advertised timeframe. We were also surprised by how close the drop-off point was. The bus barely drove us up the road before letting us out, and the location itself seemed like an odd place to start the trip, being let out in what appeared to be a vacant grassy field directly next to the Riverside on the Delaware townhomes, not even 3 full miles away. I feel bad for the people who live there. It did not feel like we were out in nature, enjoying lush vegetation. I could literally hear landscaping equipment buzzing along the float. As far as the landing area, we did not see anyone trying to get out of the water with kayaks while we were there, nor did the teenage employees tell us that kayakers were waiting to come through. They were not helping people navigate the landing area; they were primarily standing around and yelling at guests to bring their tubes over to the trailer. If they had politely explained that we were blocking kayakers or asked us to move for that reason, that would have been completely understandable. That is not how the situation was handled. Our issue was not being asked to move. It was the attitude and lack of helpfulness from the staff from the moment we arrived. We would have been happy to cooperate if the situation had simply been explained to us. Unfortunately, that was not our experience, and the owner's response does not change what we personally witnessed during our trip

Most of the 'employees' sit in the guard shack or rec center playing video games all day instead of real work. There was no interview, they just hired me outright, I wasn't drug tested even though they said I would be, I wasn't properly trained at all, maybe since I have more security experience than all of them they didn't bother? They had someone drive me around for a night through the community, didn't actually show me anything or teach me, especially when it came to the computer system where there's no useful programs, just outdated excel files to store property owner information all over the place, something a lot of places have moved on from years ago because of inefficiency & there are actual data storage programs out there that do it way better nowadays. Management doesn't care about improving the place, very outdated & inefficient systems in place, there's no Patrol Log to keep track of things for patrol officers, they just write a quick summary at the end of shift in the computer's daily log, the program they use for daily logs is some horrible outdated unheard of application that barely works, instead of just using excel like everyone else in the world. They still do handwritten passes in 2023.... most gated communities moved on from this a dozen years ago not just because of inefficiency but also data storage on computers is 10000x better than scattered papers in a filing cabinet.. Their gate system doesn't even store owners information like Card Access would, so you have little to no information of the cars who are passing through the owner gates. The exit gate you have to open manually, never seen that anywhere before (and I've been in/around 30 gated communities) Very annoying & unnecessary job for the gate guard, do you know why it doesn't open manually ? It's so that Security can collect the pass for their records.. you know, something a pass program in a computer would store automatically when a pass is made... Just very outdated operations all around. If you're working gate don't expect cars to pull up to a window for a pass like everywhere else, you're suppose to weave between traffic & walk Infront of/around cars while they're driving into the community to fill out the outdated paper passes, not only inefficient but unwise & potently dangerous as well. The only time the manager listens is when someone cries loud enough about something small/not important then she accommodates them so she doesn't have to hear it, any real suggestions or complaints are ignored. There is no rank system in place, so no shot at getting promoted or having your hard work pay off, so nothing to work towards or care about at the job, also as a result some of the regular officers thinks they're in charge there when Chiefs on duty, even though they're not. There's no official breaks like every job ever, you're suppose to just take one when it's not busy, but you'll get in trouble if you stand still for 20 minutes... & they expect you to report every time you park the patrol vehicle or go to the bathroom now, again caring about unimportant things & not improving/focusing on things that actually need changing. They will schedule you for hours & days you can't work (and you told them you can't) & expect you to come in & not complain about it. People wont show up for shifts & then you're stuck their longer than you expected to be & nothing is done about the people who didn't show up for their shift. Very sloppy & lazy place, not to mention it's ugly & outdated. You're better off anywhere else honestly.

The gravel road is maintained and also to make it more visiible by blowing leaves away to define the road the bathrooms. There are flush toilets and 2 sinks at the bathroom. This was a stop over on a 16 hour trek,we slept great under the beautiful canopy of tree cover. There were some shantys built over trailers,adding to the rustic feel . Several were adorably decked out with yard ornaments or cute signs placed by the family occupying that site. I am giving it five stars as it was clear per the website this would be rustic and the owner was helpful in answering my questions.

They also had a sauna on property which was nice to have. But again, you had to buy wood and get the fire going yourself, then let it heat up for a while in order to enjoy it. They had some other small things on the property, small game room that we didn't use, some kids activities and what not. Not even a three minute drive away was a very cool lake that we were able to rent a small motorboat and also went swimming later on by a beach area. One thing that absolutely freaked us out is the first night we had both a mother and cub Bear come to our campsite. We absolutely freaked out with this, but according to one of the employees, those bears are there a lot looking for food and they've never hurt anybody. Still kind of freaky to see a full-size bear on your picnic table! We also saw a rattlesnake the next morning at a tent near our but from a distance so no big deal. Finally, we had received an email when we initially booked. The checkout was at 11 then they sent us a text the morning of saying it was at 10 and they actually locked us out Literally a few minutes after 10. So we had to call up and explain what happened and they gave us till 11 AM. Overall, we enjoyed camping there, but they definitely ruined the experience with all the nickel and diming nonsense and forcing you to buy their wood for an extra money grab! Lots of other campsites so I don't know if we would return.

So we paid a lot extra for a tent with that amenity, only to arrive and not be able to use it unless we pay even more. The fire wood was also sold at 10$ a bundle, which is a lot more than i have paid in other camp/glamps in the region. Overall it has a trendy vibe with some cool amenities , but we had a realllllly bad view which diminished the experience (especially for the amount of $$$), a flooded camp, and we felt nickel & dimed with the hot tub. Because of this, this was actually my least favorite stay so far in PA.
