I saw an announcement for the grand opening of this furniture store in Mission Valley. I called and expressed my interest in buying a vintage looking couch in a bright raspberry-ish color. I know; that seemed like a stretch for the furniture stores here in SD. Paul assured me that his coworker Sandi had experience in both retro design and color, and that he'd be happy to send her over to my home for a consult. He told me that there was a fee for the service, but it would be then applied to anything that I purchased. When I told him that would be fine if I could be guaranteed of said design and color options, he said he'd be happy to send her over without a fee. That was a nice first impression! Soon thereafter, bright and cheery and ever so knowledgeable Sandi arrived with a big smile that matched her positive attitude. She measured, looked at the current state of my living room for color, texture and style, as well as asked me for color/style ideas. After providing her with those things, we made an appointment for me to go to the showroom. In the next couple of days-- even before my appointment, she had sent me a couple of sofa shape options as well as a spot on fabric color. Oh my goodness-- a miracle worker! At my meeting with her in the store, she had me test out the sofas for cushion level comfort and depth. Then, it was easier to narrow down my choices. I was there for a couple of hours. I was thrilled that we were pretty much on the same page about what would work-- as well as our collective philosophy of "thinking outside the box". Accordingly, we came up with a fabulous design-- incorporating design elements from 3 different sofas. As if that wasn't enough, the next day she came over-- again, to fine tune both the shape and dimensions, to assure that it would work wonderfully in my home. My new raspberry colored retri couch will arrive any day now, and I am dying to see it! I can't say enough about Sandi and her level of customized customer service---such an anomaly here in San Diego. Please go visit them at their Mission Valley locale-- and tell them that I sent you. UPDATE: Two days after submitting my review, a very nice customer service person from Teak Warehouse contacted me. They were very concerned about the finish coming off and ended up sending me a special stain that they recommend I use to make the table look new again. I will try it this weekend and post picture as to how it turned out! Thanks for good customer service Teak Warehouse! UPDATE #2 So I just finished putting one coat of Golden Care on the table. WOW! What really impressed us was his honesty - he even explained how we could paint the chairs and replace the slings ourselves if we wanted to save money. We decided to paint the chairs ourselves and then have Hauser's professionally install the new slings. The finished product exceeded our expectations. The chairs look and feel brand new, and we were able to save money thanks to Hauser's honest, customer-first approach. Nathan was also fantastic when we dropped off the chairs and selected our fabric. He was professional, knowledgeable, and easy to work with throughout the process. Also, we went to a few other furniture, stores in San Diego and let me tell you this one was much more clean and organized than the others. Elizabeth greeted us right away and was super helpful! She took us to the modular. I asked for and showed us different configurations and talked to us about the fabric. We laid on it and it was super helpful. Only reason I'm not giving five stars is because I asked if they had any velvet covered couches and she brought me to a couch that was definitely not velvet. But that's OK! She was so helpful and even emailed us the pricing for the different options we discussed for the couches before we left the store. Our plan is to get there and tape out the dimensions of the couch on our floor just to make sure that it won't overtake our living room and then we will be purchasing from Elizabeth. The immediate vibe/energy was very Low when we walked in. We saw a woman helping customers on the floor. So we made our way thru the store and found what I was looking for. There was a sales lady there helping another customer in the same area. When she finished she came over, asked if I had any questions, and I did. She answered everything and when she realized I wasn't purchasing that exact day. She said, "please call me directly to place the order, because I help you, and I am off now. Here is my card, with my direct number to place your order." She was very direct and Not friendly, I could tell she was working on commission, so you think she would've been pleasant. A sales person with not much personality. She left. About a half hour later I found another item I was interested in, there was another sales lady nearby, so I asked her the question since she was alone. As she is in the middle of answering my question, she stops mid sentence and says, "oh you've already talked to another sales person, I can't be talking to you." SHE LITERALLY SAID THAT!! There were four of us, we all looked at each other in disbelief, shock, and laughter. What the hell is going on around here? It was like the twilight zone. Now, today, I was ready to place my order, so I called the ladies cell phone number so that she would get the commission, she did not answer the phone, and there is no voice on the voicemail. So then I called the main number on her business card for Ashley, it is disconnected. So I went online and got the phone number and called and no answer??? It's 11:30am on a Wednesday. I guess I should take all the flags and read the reviews and move on to another furniture store. I am amazed that the business is still open, it must be on its way to close with this type of service. I simply texted Baran photos of what I had in mind style wise, dimensions, colors etc and she literally designed me an entire sectional from beginning to end within an hour or so, this included fabric choices, customization, even a pull out queen bed. Also, the price was so reasonable, comparable to other big box stores but the quality is 100x better, real solid wood bases, better foam, better everything. Within a few weeks the couch was delivered as of this morning, the movers/delivery guys were great too. I would HIGHLY recommend buying furniture from Baran, not only because it's great quality but she's so sweet and good at what she does but the fact that I was able to show her a photo of a sofa I liked and she made it looks just like that but to my size and I got to pick the fabric, why else would you order from another store that the quality is crap.
