    The path along canal

Wow!!! This park is simply gorgeous! I grew up in Rochester but I've been living in Florida for the last 18 years. To have fresh green open spaces is really a wonderful thing! The park seems well-maintained and very neat and clean. We parked and then walked up to the canal and I was really blown away with the beauty. Autumn is just starting and the leaves were just starting to change a little bit. The colors and peacefulness-ahhh. I just came from France over the summer and I can say that this area is just as beautiful. There's bridges and picturesque barns and farm houses. There is an open field along the canal full of beautiful yellow flowers. We walked during the sunset. As it started to get dark I started to get a little scared. I did have two men walking behind me which I'm sure they were fine but when it's me and a three-year-old kid I start getting worried. So I started to walk really fast to the car. In the future I would say go during the daytime because it looks like as I was leaving I saw a lot of guys on bikes going to the canal and maybe it's a hangout area? So be safe and diligent and go during the day! But it's a super place.

(So sad) Jack's Place is such an awesome playground! The recommended age range is 5-12. There are so many neat aspects of it including some unique spinning "rides", numerous slides, swings, lots of places to climb and a rubberized digging zone. There are a few benches around for the adults. Our kiddos had so much fun here! Highly recommend!

It looks new and is in a great location near the lake on warm days. Plenty of field and a couple of picnic tables. I don't recommend eating there based on our experience yesterday. We were invaded by what looked like fruit flies times 1,000. It literally rained bugs on us at the picnic table within one minute of sitting down so we booked it out of there and ate down the street another playground before returning. There are a few different activities for the kids, some the same as the location in Penfield such as the sand pit (here it's rubber), the big standup spinner, and the signature dinosaurs. Plenty to keep the kids happy. My kids loved it here!

We stumbled a little bit trying to find where the trails started. Initially we were following an online map, but we stopped at the park office to grab a paper copy for easier navigating. The park office is definitely not what I expected - it was a bit neglected, and nobody was there. I was hoping there'd be someone to talk to! Maybe they're just not in on Sundays. So off we went with our paper map! Lots of beautiful buildings - we really enjoyed the cobblestone house. Tree lined paths. Parking lots placed in convenient places. There was a cute little playground by the largest pond, and my daughter really enjoyed the abundance of lily pads. We were already feeling exhausted due to the heat by the time we found a trail entrance, but the trail itself was nice. There were teal colored trail markers nailed to the trees along the way, although the path itself was pretty straightforward until the turnaround. According to the map it should have circled back but there was a sign there for private property, so we hiked back the way we came instead. They had some absolutely gorgeous looking shelters. I'm not sure what the price point is, but it would be a great place for gatherings. Beautiful and peaceful, even if a little bit confusing our first time there. We will definitely be going back again (on a cooler day) to explore some more!
