Anyways the food was great I got here right at 7 after a long and grueling 16 hour shift so I was very hungry. I ordered an order of French toast and the Greek gyro omelette. The French toast was delicious and one of the items that I would argue is a staple here It's among my top three favorite French Toast (my mom's being #1 of course). Now when I read the Greek gyro omelette I really though why would I put taziki sauce on this but when I say it was the most delicious thing I could've done the sauce just took the omelette to a whole other level it was so good. Inside at 7 it's a group of regulars maybe 10 people total and the server knows them all by name. She was very nice I didn't happen to catch her name. This place is a local gem. Sam, the owner is so kind, and the staff are all so friendly. The Greek Lemon soup is amazing, I wish I could buy it by the gallon! I love their souvlaki sandwiches for lunch (with chips) or dinner (with sweet potato fries & soup). Lots of good breakfast options too, with satisfying portions. The restaurant is set up as a diner inside: eat at the counter or at a booth. Or, grab your food to go (they will even bring it to your car if you ask!). We are passing through town and spending the night. We found this Greek Restaurant on line. The people were friendly the restaurant was very clean and accommodating. The prices on the menu were very fair. We both ordered the Greek Salad hoping to expect an authentic Greek Salad. Well I could have done better in my own kitchen. Basically it was a Lazy Greek Salad meaning Lettuce,2 Cucumber & 1 Tomato Slice, 2 greek olives and feta cheese. I asked for the Gyro Meat well it was the frozen perfectly sliced and shaped stuff that I could buy in my local grocery store. Not the authentic slices cut off while cooking on the spit. Come on man really. Your a Frigging Greek Restaurant act like it, don't insult yourself with that Crap Fake Gyro Meat. The dressing was Italian, I was told it was the closest thing they had to Greek. I ordered Moussaka and was extremely disappointed. It had been prepared quite a few days (weeks) earlier and was warmed up-- barely. It was soggy and limp. Service was fine and the decor was typical diners/cafe. I had spotted their rice pudding on my way and ordered a dish. Delicious! Bottom line, poor quality Greek food. Greek House Restaurant is a really old time dinner we found on our long trek back to Chicago. Located in a tiny strip mall, you'll find plenty of parking. The place is tiny and is a blast from the past. It looks like there hasn't been any updates to the record in some time, which makes it charming. Despite the name, there are only a few Greek dishes. Most menu items were traditional breakfast and lunch dishes one would find in a diner (think omelets, burgers, salads, etc.). I opted for the moussaka. It doesn't look appetizing but it at least tastes like the real deal. The bechemal as a but meh. My spouse got the chef salad, which he said was good. read more

We are always very happy with the meals we have gotten at the Greek House restaurant in Johnson City. Their sautéed fish and Greek salad are amazing. We ran into a friend while we were there and she had ordered the turkey dinner. Although the fish is number one favorite we will try that! The waitresses are always gracious and very accommodating. I ordered a lamb souvlaki with no pita or potatoes and something went wrong in the kitchen to where I got a regular order. So I ate out of the pita. I'm not gluten-free, I just can't eat carbs for health reasons. The owner noticed what I left on my plate and asked about it. So he gave me a complimentary plate of salad and lamb, even offering to give me vegetables on the side (which would have been too much to eat but was appreciated). I appreciated that he wanted to make it right. As for the actual food, the lamb was cooked very well. So flavorful. read more

I've been going here as often as possible since 2008 and they are consistently delicious. I've never had a bad meal here, some is typical diner fare but let me say they have some really stand out items. They have the best house dressing on their giant greek salads (we are talking served in a mixing bowl big), the best lemon chicken soup (Avgolemono), and the best baklava I've ever had (better than Paris bakery's). I drive here from Syracuse sometimes for takeout because there is NOTHING like well made soup and baklava. You can't substitute those cravings for anything! Their spanakopita is also out of this world! The owners are always onsite and it seems they always try to check in personally at each table to ask how everything was. If you are looking for a quick meal that feels really fresh and home cooked with recipes they've nailed over the years, I totally recommend this place for you! read more

The food here was okay I'd probably give it 3.5 if possible. I got a salad which was great, but my one complaint about it is the gyro meat. Going to a greek place you expect quality gyro meat but this was clearly prepared and maybe even frozen-it didn't have much flavor and it's look wasn't great. However they are super nice here and even made us a special request of their marinated chicken over fries with fresh onions. The price was reasonable 24$ for two of us to eat dinner! read more

Went to this place thinking it was authentic greek food. I come from NYC and when you order a gyro sandwich or platter the meat is cut off a vertical rotisserie and they slice strips of meat and give you plenty of it. I asked the waitress if they make gyro platters and she tells me no just on pita bread so I ordered 2 at $ 6.95 a piece and when she brought them to the table I looked inside and there were only 2 thin strips of meat on each sandwich and it was not fresh meat it was frozen strips cooked. They should be ashamed of themselves calling this place a greek restaurant, it's really a luncheonette disguised as a greek restaurant. Cost me over $20 bucks for 4 measly strips of thin meat 2 pita bread and some onion a little fetta and taziki sauce. What a disappointment read more

Ordered a Greek omelette and got eggs with tiny bit of tomato and so little feta you couldn't even detect it. NEVER have I ordered a Greek omelette with NO spinach in it. To make matters worse I never checked my receipt and was charged $14 dollars. Also if you include home fries(which were okay) try adding packets of ketchup. Before even eating anything... the hostess was so nice & was patient with my indecisiveness on eating in or taking out.. I was confused about a couple of the items so the owner broke them both down for me & was very understanding when I asked for the gyro to be deconstructed instead so I could assemble when I got home. He was very humble & inviting... On top of the wonderful hospitality, THE FOOD IS AMAZING! I've been coming here for years with my family for breakfast. The breakfast is always delicious. I get bacon/cheese/tomato omelette with coffee or french toast. The service is very fast and your coffee mug is filled like 4 times. The baklava is delicious- I always get a piece to go. The owners are so friendly and welcoming. I've always loved the Greek House. Good old diner comfort food, reasonably priced. however, the last two times we went there includes hidden costs. My gyro was pretty dry so I requested a little more tzatziki. i wasn't advised that an extra charge would be added. (I used barely a teaspoon). my husbands iced tea was billed at $1.00 more than the specified price. Also, you don't find out that there is a credit card fee charged until you go to pay at the register. All of these charges add up. We know that restaurants are trying to stay afloat but so are we. Love the house roasted turkey breast and real mashed potatoes, but just getting too costly. Would have been better if the extra fees were speled out on the menu so we didn't get surprised at the end. read more

The Greek House has been a favorite of ours since we started dating 14 years ago. Unfortunately the Owner has decided that his politics are more important than his customers . The good news is he will let you eat and pay for your food and even let you in the door wearing apparel supporting our President . Then On your way out he will be happy to voice his disgust for our President and let you and all of the customers present know how he feels. This is America it is Sammy's right to like or dislike whomever he chooses. It is also my right to choose where too spend my money and it won't ever be the Greek House again. You walk in a customer and leave feeling like family. This is not a fast food place like most establishments. Many places may appear like restaurants but all they are doing is heating up the food in the back. THIS place is transparent. the breakfast here is decent but there's other places that do it a lot better. the lunch dishes i've had were a little underwhelming. the staff here is nice and while the space is small, they do have some nice paintings to liven it up a little. to start on a positive note, their scrambled eggs were some of the best i've had. their home fries had a nice seasoning but the ones i got tasted a little stale, as i left i saw them putting a new batch on the griddle so i feel like they have potential to make good ones. the bacon had an ok flavor but it was limp and i suspect that it's bought pre-cooked and then they just heat it up to order. the pancakes were alright, they were cooked evenly and had a good texture but lacked flavor. i've also had their gyro and i was not impressed. the pita was stale and while the meat had a good flavor, it was dry and there wasn't much of it. the tzatziki sauce was nothing out of the ordinary either. the fries though are really good, but if you get them to go then they give you packets of Hunt's ketchup, which isn't as good as Heinz. recently i had the chicken croquettes that were on special and the chicken was good, but the mashed potatoes and gravy that came with them were pretty bland, but they did seem like they used real mashed potatoes, i hate when diners use the fake stuff. the baklava here is ok but you could buy stuff equally as good at a grocery store. unfortunately, good greek food is getting harder to find in our area, but you can get a decent breakfast if you come here, along with friendly service. read more
