I honestly do not understand the hype about this place. Came for dinner and it took over an hour to get our food. Food was adequate. Drinks were average. At no time within that hour did anyone come over and acknowledge the fact that it was taking over an hour to get our food. When I finally asked to see a manager, the host responded with "well. the manager is really busy, but I'll see if she has time to talk to you." When the manager did come over, I was the one who had to suggest that maybe she do something for our table. She ultimately comped our drinks. Really not worth the hype. This spot has long been on my list of places to eat in Binghamton. Was in the area with some friends, so we stopped in for lunch. We came towards the end of the lunch rush (1-2PM?) and were seated immediately. The ambiance is hip and buzzy, with lots of colorful decor. The menu had some very tempting options, even for vegetarians. We started with the buffalo brussel sprouts, a stroke of genius. I'd never thought about dousing this tasty veggie in hot sauce and blue cheese, but it makes sense. This was a very tasty app, and the sprouts were roasted perfectly with crispy outer skins which provided the crunch needed for a good buffalo dish. The special that day was some kind of french dip sandwich which one of my dining companions got. Another one got a cajun catfish sandwich and graciously offered me a bite. It was flavorful. For my main, I got the spring roll bowl and decided to add tofu. It had noodles, peanuts, a sweet thai chili sauce, and lots of veggies. It was MASSIVE. Prices are a little high but the portions definitely made it worth it. I could have taken half home as leftovers if I'd wanted. The restaurant also has a coffee bar which we decided last minute to partake in instead of venturing out into the rain to find a different cafe. This was such a convenient option because we didn't have to fight to find parking or brave the weather to go to a second location. I did a pistachio latte. Someone else at my table got a Mexican hot chocolate. I treated myself to the homemade whipped cream. The coffee hit the spot. Throughout the whole experience the staff was wonderful. It was around 5:30pm on a Saturday and luckily there were plenty of tables still available. We started with the Buffalo Brussels Sprouts which I absolutely loved! These are some of the best Brussels sprouts I've had at a restaurant. The buffalo sauce was light and not overpowering and even the blue cheese dipping sauce (which I'm usually not a fan of) was pretty mild and paired well with the Brussels sprouts. A great start! We then shared the Large Rigatoni a la Vodka and added Meatballs to it. The Large is definitely enough for 2 people. The Rigatoni was cooked well and the vodka sauce was well balanced with the cream, tomatoes, garlic, and cheese. It wasn't anything spectacular but it hit the spot! My only complaint was for ~$6, I expected the meatballs to be larger than they were. The Meatballs had good flavor but for such a large bowl of pasta, it barely makes a difference. And those 3 meatballs should be $1 each at most, in my opinion. The Side Caesar Salad was a great pair with the pasta and for ~$3, very reasonably priced. We came for dinner however we were a little too early. Dinner starts at 5 and we arrived at 4:15. Our waiter CJ was very attentive. Got our drink order quickly and our appetizer. We orders the Brussels, small plate which it said however it was smaller than anticipated. They were good. Beer choices seemed to be limited as they were out of 4 of the choices on the menu. I ordered the Korean tacos and Amanda ordered the burger. Burger was delicious, picked away a bit of the bun as it was too large for the width of the burger. Fries were really good. My tacos were delicious, came with 2 as it was from the lunch menu. The sweet potato fries were like warm and a bit mushy. Sat very small table, 90's music made us giggle and the history of the place was very cool. Would we go back? Not in Binghamton often, so we'd recommend it to someone else. While headed for points South, we consulted the Yelpverse for a place to stop for dinner in the Binghamton area and decided on the Lazy Dog. We ended up parking in the parking lot nearby, although it looks looks you can snag a parking space right out front if you're lucky. We arrived around 4pm (on a Friday) & were seated quickly - place was quite lively and at least 75% full from what I could tell. Very cool bohemian vibe for lack of a better description. We started off with Spinach & Artichoke Dip which was truly awesome.. which I correctly took as a harbinger of things to come! for entrees we selected Sesame Ginger Salmon and Greek Salmon - both were winners. Both of our salmon filets were perfectly cooked - great flavorings, too! We capped it off with Bread Pudding for dessert - maybe not the best of all time but more than adequate to close out dinner;) Pace of the service was perfect - would definitely stop here again if I find myself in town! read more

I went with the tuna poke bowl. Phenomenal flavor and an extraordinary amount of tuna for the price. I attended Binghamton University over 20 years ago. Friends, family and I had eaten at the Lost Dog Cafe all those years ago. So when I decided to visit the area, I knew I wanted to reminisce by having a meal at the Lost Dog Cafe. The Lost Dog Cafe still has its eclectic and fun atmosphere. Saturday at lunchtime had a nicely filled restaurant, but you could still get a table and it wasn't overly crowded. The food is very good too. I really enjoyed the LDC Eggs Bennie and garlic broccoli. I thought the Steak Frites was a little pricey and the steak was a little chewier than I prefer. But otherwise, I'm very happy that The Lost Dog Cafe is doing well and I can't wait to visit again in 20 years. read more

Another well-made dish that tasted great. So much more than just a sandwich. My only complaints are with the serving of beverages. I don't know why that is so slow. Do all drinks go through the bar? No drink station for diners? I finished with a simple coffee. It was absolutely burnt. Whoever poured that coffee knew full well that was nasty. For our first time in town for the Luma Festival, Lost Dog was one of the highest recommended places in town. A few hours before the festival, downtown Binghamton was mostly a ghost town but Lost Dog was busy with people dining outside and a 30-minute wait. We waited longer and needed to check in before we were buzzed in. They had signs for a private event, but we later learned that was in the back room and didn't affect tables. There also isn't a lot of room inside so I wonder where people wait in the Binghamton winter. Once we sat, the decor inside was eclectic and fun, but we waited about 15 minutes there to be greeted and would wait for many other stretches through the rest of the night. Though our waitress was exceptionally friendly, they appeared to be short on servers. It didn't help that the a/c wasn't exactly reaching our part of the room. We had the burger and the esquite bowl. My burger was unexceptional and its bun tasted like it came right out of a bag. Her esquite bowl with chicken was bland and didn't have a lot of kick or much blend. My drink was fantastic--the Bomb Pop Sour from Buffalo--with a dark green and great citric mix. This beer was a limited run so it's one of the few places to find it. The Mambo Chocolate Love was an excellent dessert, possibly worth a visit on its own: very soft and yet gluten free without being gluey. We'll definitely be back for Luma again, but will try other restaurants when we do. read more

Easily one of the best restaurants in Binghamton- though to be fair, probably one of the only restaurants in Binghamton. This place was packed on a Friday night. While waiting for a table, they took us to the back lounge, which was a shockingly cute yet antique yet modern speakeasy- with board games and couches too!?! It was so nice we decided to eat there instead- plus it would be way faster. Service was good, and the food took about as long as you'd expect for the crowds. As for the food itself, it was solid, but nothing spectacular. My salad was tasty, but chicken was considerably salty. The tuna burger was above average too, but nothing to rave home about. And the steak, while good, came in a Weight Watchers style portion--not ideal, but for $20, about what you'd expect. Overall, it still met my standards, and I would definitely return if I find myself in Binghamton again. read more

Nice array of beer and drink options. Ambiance was very trendy, artsy feel. The only reason I give it 4 stars v 5 is although service was friendly, our particular waiter seemed didn't know or want to know some of the beers on the menu enough to share alternatives or describe what mainstream brand they would be most like and the for lunch, although on a Friday, felt slow considering the place didn't seem very busy.
