Searching for a local spot in Binghamton, I stumbled upon the Lost Dog Cafe on the Internet. The reviews boasted quality food in an eccentric atmosphere. This lovely lounge did not disappoint. When I walked through the old doors, I entered a unique atmosphere with a mix of old timey and retro punk vibes. Since I was on my own, I asked for a table for one, fully aware that my heart was set on a bar stool. The bar spot turned out to be perfect for people-watching and a Yuzo Peach Collins. Served in the perfect glass, the Collins was definitely a balance of flavors. Since the vodka rigatoni is what peaked my curiosity, that is what I ordered. It was phenomenal. I decided to go with the "old-school" version at the encouragement of my server, which included Cayenne pepper. It came out perfectly spiced and piping hot. I also decided to start with a Caesar salad. The lettuce was super cold and crisp, and the dressing was served on the side so I could moderate it for myself. This spot has long been on my list of places to eat in Binghamton. Was in the area with some friends, so we stopped in for lunch. We came towards the end of the lunch rush (1-2PM?) and were seated immediately. The ambiance is hip and buzzy, with lots of colorful decor. The menu had some very tempting options, even for vegetarians. We started with the buffalo brussel sprouts, a stroke of genius. I'd never thought about dousing this tasty veggie in hot sauce and blue cheese, but it makes sense. This was a very tasty app, and the sprouts were roasted perfectly with crispy outer skins which provided the crunch needed for a good buffalo dish. The special that day was some kind of french dip sandwich which one of my dining companions got. Another one got a cajun catfish sandwich and graciously offered me a bite. It was flavorful. For my main, I got the spring roll bowl and decided to add tofu. It had noodles, peanuts, a sweet thai chili sauce, and lots of veggies. It was MASSIVE. Prices are a little high but the portions definitely made it worth it. I could have taken half home as leftovers if I'd wanted. The restaurant also has a coffee bar which we decided last minute to partake in instead of venturing out into the rain to find a different cafe. This was such a convenient option because we didn't have to fight to find parking or brave the weather to go to a second location. I did a pistachio latte. Someone else at my table got a Mexican hot chocolate. I treated myself to the homemade whipped cream. The coffee hit the spot. Throughout the whole experience the staff was wonderful. Ordered: Buffalo Brussels Sprouts (~$10): flash fried with blue cheese dipping sauce Large Rigatoni a la Vodka (~$17) with 3 Meatballs (+$6) and Side Caesar Salad (+$3): garlic and tomatoes with cream, fresh basil, and cheese Aya's take: We were on a road trip driving through Binghamton and decided to stop by for dinner. It was around 5:30pm on a Saturday and luckily there were plenty of tables still available. We started with the Buffalo Brussels Sprouts which I absolutely loved! These are some of the best Brussels sprouts I've had at a restaurant. The buffalo sauce was light and not overpowering and even the blue cheese dipping sauce (which I'm usually not a fan of) was pretty mild and paired well with the Brussels sprouts. A great start! We then shared the Large Rigatoni a la Vodka and added Meatballs to it. The Large is definitely enough for 2 people. The Rigatoni was cooked well and the vodka sauce was well balanced with the cream, tomatoes, garlic, and cheese. It wasn't anything spectacular but it hit the spot! My only complaint was for ~$6, I expected the meatballs to be larger than they were. The Meatballs had good flavor but for such a large bowl of pasta, it barely makes a difference. And those 3 meatballs should be $1 each at most, in my opinion. The Side Caesar Salad was a great pair with the pasta and for ~$3, very reasonably priced. We came for dinner however we were a little too early. Dinner starts at 5 and we arrived at 4:15. Our waiter CJ was very attentive. Got our drink order quickly and our appetizer. We orders the Brussels, small plate which it said however it was smaller than anticipated. They were good. Beer choices seemed to be limited as they were out of 4 of the choices on the menu. I ordered the Korean tacos and Amanda ordered the burger. Burger was delicious, picked away a bit of the bun as it was too large for the width of the burger. Fries were really good. My tacos were delicious, came with 2 as it was from the lunch menu. The sweet potato fries were like warm and a bit mushy. Sat very small table, 90's music made us giggle and the history of the place was very cool. Would we go back? Not in Binghamton often, so we'd recommend it to someone else. Came here for lunch on a very cold Friday afternoon. We made reservations, don't think we'd have had a wait if we didn't, but it was fairly busy. I think dinner on a Friday or Saturday night would need a reservation, otherwise you're probably fine just walking in Considered a classic amongst students for a reason, and happy to say it lived up to my memory! While headed for points South, we consulted the Yelpverse for a place to stop for dinner in the Binghamton area and decided on the Lazy Dog. We ended up parking in the parking lot nearby, although it looks looks you can snag a parking space right out front if you're lucky. We arrived around 4pm (on a Friday) & were seated quickly - place was quite lively and at least 75% full from what I could tell. Very cool bohemian vibe for lack of a better description. We started off with Spinach & Artichoke Dip which was truly awesome.. which I correctly took as a harbinger of things to come! for entrees we selected Sesame Ginger Salmon and Greek Salmon - both were winners. Both of our salmon filets were perfectly cooked - great flavorings, too! We capped it off with Bread Pudding for dessert - maybe not the best of all time but more than adequate to close out dinner;) Pace of the service was perfect - would definitely stop here again if I find myself in town! read more

Street parking was easy at this time, but I'm sure it gets rough for evening time. The bf ordered the meatball Sammie and just loved it. Yummy meatballs in an amazing sauce on roll. I went with the tuna poke bowl. Phenomenal flavor and an extraordinary amount of tuna for the price. Tasted delicious, but as someone else mentioned, I would ask for a bit less of the sauce and spicy mayo...not enough for me to knock off a star given the taste and value of the bowl. I attended Binghamton University over 20 years ago. Friends, family and I had eaten at the Lost Dog Cafe all those years ago. So when I decided to visit the area, I knew I wanted to reminisce by having a meal at the Lost Dog Cafe. The Lost Dog Cafe still has its eclectic and fun atmosphere. Saturday at lunchtime had a nicely filled restaurant, but you could still get a table and it wasn't overly crowded. The food is very good too. I really enjoyed the LDC Eggs Bennie and garlic broccoli. I thought the Steak Frites was a little pricey and the steak was a little chewier than I prefer. But otherwise, I'm very happy that The Lost Dog Cafe is doing well and I can't wait to visit again in 20 years. read more

I went yesterday, a Saturday afternoon, we ordered off the brunch menu. I had the Burrata. It was wonderful. Unexpected tastes that pleasantly surprised. My lady had the chicken salad on a croissant. Another well-made dish that tasted great. So much more than just a sandwich. My only complaints are with the serving of beverages. I don't know why that is so slow. Do all drinks go through the bar? No drink station for diners? I finished with a simple coffee. It was absolutely burnt. Whoever poured that coffee knew full well that was nasty. Easily one of the best restaurants in Binghamton- though to be fair, probably one of the only restaurants in Binghamton. This place was packed on a Friday night. While waiting for a table, they took us to the back lounge, which was a shockingly cute yet antique yet modern speakeasy- with board games and couches too!?! It was so nice we decided to eat there instead- plus it would be way faster. Service was good, and the food took about as long as you'd expect for the crowds. As for the food itself, it was solid, but nothing spectacular. My salad was tasty, but chicken was considerably salty. The tuna burger was above average too, but nothing to rave home about. And the steak, while good, came in a Weight Watchers style portion--not ideal, but for $20, about what you'd expect. What a great find after a long day of travel. I credit others on Yelp for directing me to Lost Dog Cafe. I was able to walk here from my hotel, which was a wonderful experience after a long day of driving. From the outside I wasn't sure if they were open. Once I cracked the door, I quickly realized that I was entering a vibrant upbeat environment. I was quickly greeted and shown to a table. I found a great food and beer menu. I loved that they had tables outside - who doesn't love to soak up some Vitamin D while eating delicious food. Plentiful GF options. My mom enjoyed a salad loaded with fruit, cheese, candied nuts and house-made mango dressing. The Voo Doo Chicken sandwich was my choice and I devoured it along with every single crispy French fry.
