Great venue for small to medium events. Came here for Engineering Commencement and saw Rex Orange County perform. The pit in the middle is very intimate and close to the stage, so it's great for seeing live performers. There are also descending steps in the pit so you can still see any live performers on the stage in the back of the pit. The stadium-style seats are also very nice and sound travels really well. read more

I was able to see Rex Orange County, show was amazing! The only problem was on their website it says your able to bring stadium seat but it didn't specify which ones were specifically allowed in. No chairs with metal rods are allowed. We either had to stash or throw them away, luckily I was able to hand them off to our ride. Kinda stressful but we still managed to get good seats! I was also able to take my loungefly and a reusable water bottle. Your also allowed to bring in unopened snacks as well which was pretty good! There are two entrances your able to get in to the venue, a lot of people snuck there way in to the line. Due to the gaps at the crosswalks, but security was able to keep it at a first come first served basis. I still had a good time though, hope it's helps! read more

This venue is awesome. I saw Odesza here, and it was incredible. You get great views, regardless of where you are sitting (or standing) and is great For accommodating everything from a EDM concert, to a soft rock contemporary concert. This was my first time here, and I do have to say that I was pretty impressed! I was attending a graduation, so I can't go into too much detail about their sound system, but from what I experienced, I'm sure they can handle any type of concert that is held here. The venue is very clean and well kept, and the bathrooms are maintained with an attendant standing by the doorway! Really?!?!?! Something DGT would definitely appreciate! We were seated pretty high up, but our view of the stage was perfect! The seating for this theater is strategically situated, so every seat in the house enjoys a great view! Conclusion: A great venue for a graduation or a concert! Just be prepared to pay $25 or more for parking if you want to park in the garage that is closest to the theater. A bit much for parking, but a common theme whenever there is an occasion to capitalize on! read more

Amazing. I've been to this venue twice and just love the view of the stage regardless of where I'm at! The security guards here are pretty efficient with checking in people and pretty on point with making sure people don't sneak things in, but I rolled my eyes because they hesitated a bit on letting me bring in my inhaler, but props to them for hiring some medic people around if necessary. The venue isn't too big, but it can definitely get super packed and be filled with tons of people. There's stone seating/ large steps and I swear, wherever you are, the view is amazingggg. There's also a floor for people to get close to the stage, but it looks like it can get too jammed pack where you probably won't be able to breathe. Bathrooms are easily accessible and getting drinks (which are expensive, FYI... ranges from $9-$11) might be a little inefficient to get, but pretty tight that they accept Apple pay at whatever POS they're using! Oh and they service food that smells bomb! Lucky Cal kids :) The only bummer of this venue is that events normally end at 10:45PM/11PM... But all good. I still have fun nonetheless! And if you're wondering which form of transportation, there's actually a variety of ways you can get here. I've taking a lyft/uber from San Leandro and it was pretty fast/ inexpensive. I've also taken BART to here then took a lyft (too lazy to walk a little less than a mile from the station haha). My friends have driven here from different parts of the Bay and have found parking, but it might take a little while to get back to your destination if you're taking the bridge. read more

I attended the John Legend Concert 9/15/21 and for starters they are requiring that you have a negative COVID test or your vaccination card. They are checking for these before you go in, but the line does move pretty fast. I do wish they had more restrooms because the lines were pretty ridiculous. On their website it says no blankets, but everyone in the lawn took blankets and spread them out. The stadium is a decent size. It is outdoors so make sure to bring a jacket as nights get chilly. They sell food and drinks like any other even center. Parking in the parking garage is $30 when there is an event. You can take in a closed water bottle or take an empty water canteen and refill it inside. I would go to another event here, but would probably pay for seats next time and not the lawn area. read more

It's a great outdoor venue. The sound is pretty good. I did hear some echoing. There really isn't a bad seat in the house, but unless you're in the pit, you're not going to see much unless you have binoculars. We knew it was going to be cool, but the fog rolled in before the concert started. We had our hats and sunscreen, etc., but we should have brought coats. We know better. I think most people do. It can get really, really cool when the sun sets, if there is sun, and cooler more quickly if the sun is eclipsed by the fog. We parked in a lot in Berkeley and walked. We arrived early in town and had dinner, so we were parked for a long, long time. $7 was all it cost! What a steal. And it's not a bad walk. A bit uphill on the way in, but after a long day, a great concert and maybe a few drinks... it's all downhill at the end of the night! read more

Amazing venue with a lot of history here and for me personally... Big Game football rallys with a huge bonfire before Cal vs. Stanfurd, my engineering graduation ceremony was held here, and now a legendary hip hop concert! Plus it is walking distance from campus and my former roommate's current southside Berkeley apartment. There is a nice grass lawn at the top of the hill in the back if you want to lie down picnic style. During the concert, lighting was on point, security was not a hassle, and the bass you can feel rattling your bones. Just saw the Word of Mouth Tour with headliner Jurassic 5 along with Dilated Peoples! Dream lineup like I was back in high school lol (I'm old). So happy J5 reunited for this... of course both DJ's were cuttin it up too (DJ Nu-mark and Cut Chemist). They did all the hits, the crowd and I were most hyped for classics like Jayou, Quality Control, Concrete Schoolyard, Improvise and even relatively newer ones like A Day at the Races & Whats Golden. Dilated went on early and opened... Evidence, Rakaa Iriscience and DJ Babu did their thing. Crowd loved Worst comes to Worst, Back Again, and This Way w/o backpacker Kanye verse (before he was Yeezus). C-A all-day. Quannum label was in the building so Latryx (Lyrics Born and Lateef the Truthspeaker) and Gift of Gab w/ DJ Chief Xcel (aka Blackalicious) performed several times. DJ Shadow threw down a bay area set that got the crowd hella hyphy! 2pac, E40, Humpty Hump and even some bay R&B for the grown & sexy. The Bay was well represented all night, appearances by Supernatural MC and the Souls of Mischief crew (93 til infinity!!) If all of Hiero got on stage, everyone would've freaked.. I saw lots of folks with Hieroglyphics shirts on. Also saw MC Zumbi from Zion I and Jern Eye from Lunar Heights catching the show on the side of the stage. p.s. Fortunately it's an open air arena. Let's just say there's a lot of haze and smoke at hip hop concerts that don't come from fog machines. Shout out to my lovely wife who is holding it down at home and let me spend the weekend in the bay. And shout out to |2y4n for going with me to the concert. xoxo read more

I recently saw a concert here with friends on a whim, and was pleasantly surprised on how much fun I had. It's smaller than your typical theater, but that's part of what makes it unique, as you get a more intimate feeling when you're on the general admission floor. Considering I saw it on a night of a rock/metal concert, it was a pretty awesome experience being in such a small general floor space while people form mosh pits and run around - such a trip. There are two main places to get drinks here: there's a bartender in the back of the seating area, and another bartender in the corner of the main entrance to the floor section. Drinks aren't cheap, which is expected (around $10 a drink). All in all, a solid place to watch a concert but what I can really picture this theater being great for is comedy shows! Quick tip: parking here is insanely tricky - I mean it's Berkeley, so of course. Unless you find street parking within a few minutes I highly suggest the decently priced parking lot around the corner from the theater. read more

I was really taken aback by the greatness of the Greek Theatre when I came for the Beach Boys concert. I love that it is located on the university's campus nestled in some forresty trees. The theatre is huge and well organized with labeled seats. You have a clear shot view of the stage no matter where you are in the stadium. There are also lawn seats at the top back of the stadium which looks great for a picnic. I am looking forward to coming to this venue in the future. The venue alone made for more than 1/2 of the concert experience for me. read more

Best place to catch a concert in the Bay Area... period. Nothing comes close. I've been to the Greek Theatre a number of times over the years. I've seen everyone from Radiohead to Tom Petty here. Unlike the other concert mega-venues (I'm looking at you, Shoreline), the Greek provides music lovers with an intimate, outdoor experience. The ampitheater only holds 9,000 attendees, so there really isn't a bad seat in the house (even the cheaper lawn seats are good). Acoustics are top notch; the lines for the concessions stands and bathrooms are never too long; and there's just something magical about listening to your favorite band play under the Bay Area starry sky. If you plan on catching a concert here (and I hope that you do), I have a few pro-tips for you to consider: 1) Park at least 4 blocks away from the venue. When we arrived for the Tom Petty show the other night, we parked at Euclid & Ridge Streets, and then just walked 5 minutes to the theater. If you don't do street parking, you're gonna get stuck with expensive garage parking (at least $30). 2) Bring layers, because it can get chilly at night. 3) If you have seated tix, make sure to bring a cushion or fold-up chair. The concrete benches can get a bit uncomfy for your tushy after a few hours. 4) Eat + drink before coming into the theatre. Berkeley has an abundance of great restaurants that won't cost an arm and a leg. 5) Relax and enjoy the show! Be warned, the crowds here can be very Berkeley-like. So don't be surprised if you find yourself inhaling a lot of second-hand reefer smoke. All in all, this venue rocks. And if you're a true music lover, all I can say is "Get thee to the Greek!" read more

The uptight, controlling part of me balks at the outdoor nature of the Greek Theatre and all the different ways the weather could show up and out. But on a warm September evening, this place is just perfect. Maggie Rogers' beautiful presence, stunning voice and enthralling energy didn't hurt, of course. I arrived about an hour before doors opened and found parking at the Upper Hearst Parking Structure (entrance off of La Lloma Avenue), but think I could have easily come an hour and a half earlier and scored free street parking and a slight walk. The parking ticket machine was being finicky so I downloaded the ParkByPhone app and found the zone number - 9489. It's very convenient to pay for parking with the app, but you can only do a couple of hours at a time. The primary con? When the concert started and I wanted to top off on time I noticed that it was hard for me to get a strong enough signal to complete the transaction. I tried a few times and was able to get it, but the moments of panic over whether or not I'd get a ticket were unpleasant. I think I paid less than $10 for parking for the full evening (6 PM - 11 PM) which wasn't bad at all. I ate before arriving, but there seem to be a ton of great food and beverage options that I'd definitely try next time I'm here. Security isn't too awful, cursory back check and metal detectors, but do be sure to toss out liquids in your refillable containers. I'm usually torn between wanting to be in the pit near the stage, but also not being able to stand for the entirety of a concert. The happy medium? At the back of the pit area, furthest from the stage, are some steps. My friends and I sat right in the middle so we'd face the stage, and presumably the lead singer, dead on. When the concert started, we stood and it was an absolutely perfect place to be... until 6'+ folks got in front and, well, even with the few steps it was hard to see over the tops of their heads, lol. All in all, the Greek Theatre is a great venue that features a ton of great artists. I will definitely be back! read more

What an absolutely beautiful venue! We arrived to the Jack Johnson concert around 5:30 pm. It was crowded so we decided to hike to the top because we came prepared with a big quilt. We sat the furthest back we could sit, on lush grass! You could smell the pine trees in the air! It was fantastic. I, totally, recommend coming here at least once. Gotta say, no outdoor concert venue in California does it better than Greek Theater. I have been awestruck by the Greeks in Berkeley and in Los Angeles. Both Greeks are in gorgeous areas, but I prefer UCB to Griffith Park. The rolling neighborhoods, each house with a different personality, really compliment the beautiful, rolling campus of UC Berkeley. It's very green up here, too. The venue itself is beautiful, as well. Well-kept, clean, lots of trees, string lights, and during the day, an expansive view of the city. The Greek has organized every event I've been to quite well, almost streamlined. I've never been disappointed, even when I saw Regina Spektor in the pouring rain (and it ended early). I love many of the acts promoted by APE, so it works well that they are the promoters for the Greeks. I really can't praise these venues enough. If you've never seen a show here, add it to your bucket list. read more

This is one of my favorite concert venues in the Bay Area. It's general admission, so it's a great spot to see your favorite artists. All the seats give a great view of the stage, which is a must for me (since I'm very short, only 5 ft 2). Definitely coming back here for more concerts in the future. read more

This venue is super pretty! UCB students are lucky to have this music venue. I went here to listen to Third Eye Blind and it was an amazing experience. Aside from them, the place was great!! The layout was nice as there's a standing spot in front of the stage and then stone seating coliseum like on the outside. It may seem small, but this place can pack A LOT! There are mainly two entrances from the side, but you can also enter from a top. The bar line is fairly fast and prices are average. From my first experience, I'd say some few pointers are: - Pack some snacks or food! They're pretty chill about that (just no alchy please) - Bring a sweater/jacket (mind you it's outdoors) - Walk all the way out of school grounds for Uber (police blocks off streets) ENJOY this pretty theatre :) read more

Located right above the UC Berkeley campus, this theatre reminds me of a more intimate Hollywood Bowl. Despite being outside, the sound is loud and not muffled. The venue was easy to walk to regardless of the uphill battle. Ended up watching Solange here for the third time. Worth checking out if your favorite artist is performing. read more

The Greek Theatre is a little gem and one of the few outdoor venues in the Bay Area. The GA area is pretty big and is surrounded by what I would call "Kaiser seats" - separate chair-like seats that make you feel like you're the King of the castle. Views are great from every corner and angle. Located on the UC campus it's also easily accessible. Make sure to organize parking beforehand if you plan to arrive by car. There are several parking garages nearby so map them before you go. read more

I have to say this venues is one of my favorite venues for a concert! I've seen Alt-J and most recently Odesza here. I had an enjoyable experience each time and was able to get very close to the stage! What's really nice about this venue unlike some other ones is that your general ticket allows you to watch from anywhere in the stadium! Obviously the venue does tend to get packed in the floor area. This is an outdoor theater so that is something to remember with the oh so changing weather in the Bay Area sometimes! Overall, I have to say this is a great ambience for concerts and enjoyable from all areas in the arena. Lastly, I highly recommend trying to get there a little earlier then the main act so you're not squeezing your way through a bunch of people trying to get closer to the stage! read more

The Greek Theater is a Fantastic place to see any Concert. There is no bad seat in the this Theater. The sound is Amazing, I saw Kenny Loggins in the 80's, just him and his acoustic guitar. What a memorable show. Since they have expanded and renovated the entire Theater, it's Beautiful. I saw Counting Crow's on Sept 10, 2023. Great Show, completely packed and no Bad Seats. It was a Magical Night. I Highly recommend everyone have the experience at least once in there life. read more

I absolutely love this venue, the ambiance and acoustics are great. Every time I have been here I make friends in the crowd. The students that have the dorms right above venue are soooo lucky. They get to hear great concerts all year long. Usually, I will take BART from the Orinda station, then get off at Rockridge and take an uber to the venue. You have to get to the venue at least an hour before the concert opens to grab an amazing seat. Most of the tickets are general admission. One time I saw Ed Sheeran here and another time I saw the final tour of Third Eye Blind. Both shows were spectacular in their own right. Venue is much smaller than Oracle Arena or SAP center,but such a much better experience. This is a must do venue. read more

One of my highlights November 2016 was seeing Ms. Lauryn Hill and NAS perform at the Greek Theatre -Acoustics of the outdoor venue was impeccable, it wasn't too loud in the front pit area. We were lucky to have gotten standing area about 10 feet away from the stage. Get to the venue early to get great standing spots (: -Plenty of restrooms and close to the two entrances -The security was amicable so exiting after the show was easy and not so chaotic -Food is reasonably priced, standard fare food like hotdogs and an array of cuisines available -it's kind of out of the way but once you get on campus there are signs leading to and there's an incline so I recommend comfy shoes for the walk -Parking: my friend found free street parking a few streets closer to where some of the fraternity houses are at read more
