It's within walking distance to J-town which is really nice in terms of getting food before a show (most things are not late night in SF, so this is the play since after a show, most things will already be closed) and it is possible to find free parking if you have eyes that search and see. My boyfriend and I came here to see TK from Ling Tosite Sigure (real anime heads know - Tokyo Ghoul, Psycho Pass, etc. or if you're a fan of math rock). We got the GA tickets and waited in the line for the venue around 40 minutes before the show. We were still in the first 100 or so people in, we were in the line when it curved the corner near the other shopping plaza near the bus stop, so it wasn't too fisted when we went. This was absolutely not the case for the LA show, so the vibes in NorCal versus SoCal are completely different. Staff was welcoming (as best they could) and efficient in checking us in and security was friendly in what they had to do. Much better than some of the other venues I've been to. You have to go upstairs to get to the live house concert stage area. It looks very high end with the lighting, curtains, balcony area, and chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. It's not as grandiose as say the Mayan (RIP), but nice nonetheless. We were probably 3-4 layers of people from the front, but was able to see all of the band members quite well and I was accidentally in the band's Instagram post (with my very funny and cooked back posture). Sound quality was great and really highlighted not only TK's vocals, but the technicality and skill he has on guitar (dude had to swap guitars between each song), as well as all of the support members (their support drummer from Crossfaith has such good stage presence). Nothing sounded too drowned out or overpowering. Good acoustics. The merch table was at the side and I didn't pay too much mind to where the bar was. When walking up stairs I was wondering where to go and loudly asked that question and a kind staff working the coat check in the opposite direction pointed to where to go. I think my only qualm though is the stairs that everyone has to take up, and more importantly down since it gets super crowded. However, they do have an accessible elevator for those who may require it or are ADA. What I love about this venue is the apples they give attendees. Great post concert snack. Sweet and crispy apple. I really love that they do this. And apparently this was the only tour stop that had a free poster with the artist playing too. Love that extra goodie for concert goers since I didn't purchase any merchandise. If there's a band or musician that I know is going to go to the Fillmore, I'm going to try to make the show since I really enjoyed it here! read more

1 Star - Awful Manager and Staff Experience We attended the Alex Isley concert at The Fillmore and brought our 8-year-old daughter. It was her very first concert, and she absolutely loves Alex Isley. The venue was standing room only, but we found a small corner near the front where we weren't blocking anyone's view. Early in the evening, one female staff member seemed to have an issue with us, although every other staff member we encountered was friendly and accommodating. At one point, I asked a staff member if it would be okay to put my daughter on my shoulders so she could see the stage. He told me it was absolutely fine, and several other staff members nearby clearly had no issue with it. Later, the same female employee returned and began harassing my wife about our daughter being on my shoulders or standing on a bench that was not obstructing anyone's view. She made a scene unnecessarily and then escalated the situation to a manager. The manager arrived and was just as rude. Although I complied immediately because I didn't want to create a scene in front of my daughter, we felt singled out and bullied throughout the interaction. Ironically, other concertgoers immediately tried to help by offering our daughter space in front of them so she could see the performance. Even more telling, a member of Alex Isley's security team witnessed what happened, approached us afterward, and kindly arranged for my wife, daughter, and me to meet Alex after the show. That completely made our daughter's night and turned what could have been a very disappointing experience into a special memory. The kindness shown by Alex Isley's team and fellow concertgoers stood in stark contrast to the behavior of The Fillmore's manager and this particular staff member. Because of this experience, I will not return to The Fillmore and cannot recommend the venue to others. 1/5 stars. read more

Up to this point, I'd only heard of The Fillmore as a venue to see live music and other acts. I frequented the area when my barber moved his shop over there, but other than that, the neighborhood in its current form was foreign to me. Dave Chapelle was in town, and tickets were selling out within hours. On a whim, I bought two Friday night tickets for the same week. I did not check Yelp or Google reviews and decided to go in blind. As we pulled up about an hour early, there was an inordinate amount of people waiting outside, but the line was short and i know why; you have to put your phones into lockers as soon as you enter the venue and there were no ins-and-outs. We decided to just go in early, grab seats and drink and chat for an hour. The time flew by and when Dave hit the stage, it was a non-stop laugh fest for 3.5 hours. The venue is awesome, clean and the staff were extremely efficient from top to bottom. Totally recommend this venue for future events. read more

Finally got to see Todd Rundgren. I'm a huge fan and I thoroughly enjoyed the show. He's still got such a youthful energy. Posted some video here. The greatest music venue in the SF Bay Area. The Jesse Welles concert this week was a musical bombshell. His lyrics are ponient and his band plays true strait up Rock and Roll. My friend who attended with me needed ADA support. All of The Fillmore staff were supportive, caring and professional. The young lady who served us drinks on the floor - Emma was a delight. If you want to experience an amazing musical show, Matt says take the time to attend The Fillmore. It will change your outlook on life. Just walking around this beautiful building looking at the pictures on the wall is like walking through a museum of entertainment history, too many & so many famous bands & entertainers have performed here, it's mind-boggling & enlightening. As for music, the sound, acoustics, lights, and stage of the Fillmore is great. Not a bad view in the house. Most of it is general admission/standing-room only, unless you want to opt for VIP seating and/or pay big bucks for balcony tables. We were on the main floor, which offered great views, excellent sound, and even space to dance or move about. The audio engineers & lighting specialists really know what they are doing here, giving concert goers the best sound & visuals that any club can offer. I always love coming here to see new, old, famous, and even unknown bands. This venue has launched many a career of the most famous & successful bands & entertainers in the world, thanks to being one of the top names & venues in promoting the best quality showcase of music, comedy, and nightlife. I hope the Fillmore continues to survive another 70 years, and I don't doubt it, it is one of the best maintained, best run, and most beautiful, iconic, and historic venues in all of San Francisco, all of California, and perhaps the entire country. Went to see Cypress Hill last night. Haven't been to the 'Moe in hella long. The floors were just as sticky as I remember them! No food here. That's ok, we already had dinner back in the neighborhood. Had one round of beers, for which I had cash, and come to find out they don't accept cash anymore. No Cash! Card only...I thought we were in 'Merica! I wasn't upset with the bartender, the dude was cool. I am upset with The System. I live in the area and frequently see shows at the Fillmore, and while it's been a while since I've written any review, after my last show on 11/13 I had to share my rave reviews. Cleanliness: For a sold-out show, the bathrooms, dance floor, and common areas were impressively clean--no sticky floors, no bottles or cups to dodge. Truly rare for a music venue. Customer Service: From bag check to ticket scanning, bartenders to security, every staff member was kind, welcoming, and genuinely added to the experience. Food: The nachos, cookies, burgers--and of course the apple--were fantastic. Nothing greasy, nothing dry, just really solid venue food that hit the spot. Logo: Loving the new logo. Excessive front door security; only music venue in the City where I had to empty out my pockets, get patted down four times, and this was after passing the metal detector as ok. The security guard was very mean and yelled at me to dump all of my pocket contents into the hat I was wearing. I thought they were going to confiscate the pen I had in my pocket. Add this to very expensive drinks and no apples available.... probably was funner in the 70s. :( read more

A historical and well-run theater/music venue. With that, the interior is so clean and not musty smelling. Almost everything looks replaced and well maintained for such an old venue. The chandeliers are an awesome touch. The second floor is another realm of tables, bars and wall to wall posters of all the bands that have played there. The Fillmore is truly iconic. Located on Geary and Fillmore, there is plenty to do in the area. Whether you're looking for cheap, casual eats or something more elevated, there's a bunch of different options. The parking situation isn't too bad either. There are a great deal of parking garages in walking distance or if you want to brave the street parking, that's definitely an option as well. Live Nation keeps this historic place poppin with great bands and artists. Most recently, I watched Royel Otis and Bombay Bicycle Club here. General admission tickets give you access to the main standing floor. There are very limited seats on the second level but the overhead views of the stage are amazing. This venue gives opera house vibes with the open balconies, red draping, gold frames. You also have to check out the poster room! I'm pretty sure The Fillmore still make posters for all their sold out shows and this room displays them beautifully. It's a super spacious seating area with a full bar and kitchen. Check in is standard. Security/bag check, ticket scan, then ID check before you make it inside the venue. Staff is always efficient and friendly. Coat check and merch lines are off to the side so crowd control is great through this entire venue. I was shocked to see 2 spiked lemonades cost $50 with a tip but it's expected. I'll stick to seltzers in the future! read more

The venue is nice, but the merch line was very disorganized and confusing. People were joining the line from all different directions since there were no directions or indicators to lead you, and it was disappointing that there appeared to be no one taking charge to prevent cutting in line. We spoke to a couple other people in line and they also were confused about where the lines started and ended (us and the people around us both initially ended up in the exit line thinking it was the merch line). I liked the acoustics of the venue and the vibes a lot though. read more

First time ever and what can I say, I'm a late bloomer, grew up in the bay and never been, this place is a legendary venue with lots of amazing bands that have performed here. Parking was a breeze two blocks down near Panda Express and cheap, we also had pre drinks at the cute lil piano bar a block up. More affordable than at the Fillmore, two cocktails will cost you around 30-35 and card only, no cash. The place has old charm and velvety feel. Loved every minute of it, wish I could have explored more of it, time restraints. I realized I don't think I've been here before till recently and I was missing out. I even parked just around the corner for free on the street and no one broke in my car. Jeez I didn't realize there was so much in the trunk. I still suggest being cautious but that made it a good night. Also the band was amazing. The sound was great. The vibe was perfect. The ticket process was so easy and well I was in standing room so it was pretty easy to just hop on in and enjoy myself. The people are so cool there that my friend needed a rest because he couldn't handle the standing and he was giving a seat by some cool peeps. My bad I didn't even order a drink to contribute more. My family attended the Lauren Spencer Smith concert at The Fillmore on 3/18/2026. We initially paid $351 for two front row balcony seats at The Masonic. There was a change in venue. We were still forced to pay $351 for Standing Room Only seats. My pregnant niece could not be accommodated and my family had a miserable time. How could The Fillmore not have assigned seats as they are clearly charging for this. Sadly, I called The Fillmore on 3/19/2026 and lodged a complaint. NO ONE CALLED ME. This place is a scam and I have every intention of filing a lawsuit against The Fillmore. read more

Had a great time here on Nov 8th to see The Beths. Security and coat check people were really nice. The venue itself is beautiful. IMO, parking is easy compared to other concert venues in the city- just park at Japantown parking garage, it's less than a five minute walk away. -1 star because it felt super super hot inside the theater :( read more

I've lived in the Bay Area my entire life, and a finally made it to the Fillmore to see Bombay Bicycle Club and this is definitely a treasure of a venue! The show and production value are really good for an iconic venue. Perfect for live band performances and there's really not a bad spot to stand during the show. The people during the show were polite, (no pushing or shoving), and navigating after a drink or bathroom break was easy to get back to my original spot. The music was a good level, and not overly loud. Really enjoyable experience. $20 for a shot of tequila, $16 for a Truly tall can, pretty open par for most venues in the venues here in the Bay, but definitely a price point where I won't be buying a ton of drinks, which isn't a bad thing personally. The upstairs offers a restaurant with some bar food like burgers, tots, and more, prices were reasonable at a venue. Overall, really cool place to watch a show and it's very intimate which makes seeing one of your favorite bands a treat. Definitely worth coming back, especially if it's band you want to see. read more

Seeing a show at The Fillmore was a bucket-list kind of night. The place has history, and you can feel it, but it still feels alive and electric, not like a museum. The layout is great for actually enjoying the performance, and the crowd energy was dialed in. It's the kind of venue that makes even a random night out feel memorable because it has real character. Great place to see a show. Music history here. I was here 25 years ago and everything is about the same. Staff were nice and friendly. Pre show security screening is slow so make sure you arrive early. Also all the screening takes place outside in the elements so make sure you are ready for the weather. This is aSmall venue so it's even more super cool to see your favorite band. There is food service which consists of burgers nachos, salads, quesadillas, etc. food is a good quality and there are plenty of bars inside serving drinks so the lines are generally not an issue. read more

I came here recently for a show, but was in a rush and didn't have time for dinner. Luckily, there's a small restaurant upstairs with decent amount of seating. The food was very reasonably priced! I got the chicken sandwich, which came with a handful of Lays potato chips and a pickle. The pickle was terrible and soggy instead of crisp. Skip that. The sandwich was great! The chicken was so juicy and tasted super fresh, well cooked and seasoned. The slaw was nice. I didn't really taste the hot honey, but it was probably there. I'd easily eat that chicken patty by itself, but paired with the rest of the sandwich was nice too. It didn't feel too heavy of a meal, and the right amount of food to enjoy a show and do a little dancing, if you wanted to. I wish tables were prioritized for those who ordered food, so we could have a place to sit and eat. Not enough standing tables to have a place to set food down if you didn't have a seat, and it would have been a challenge to eat this sandwich while standing. read more

Came for Tamino at the Fillmore and had an incredible experience. Clean and well maintained, the decades-long venue is small, intimate and beautiful with a historical touch. Photos and posters on the wall in hallway. cloak room on site. Clean bathroom. Food can be bought upstairs in a restaurant. Bars are behind and on the side. The main floor is General Admission standing area. Not sure how people buy the reserved balcony tickets but standing is actually more fun than sitting as you can move with music, granting your back agrees with you. Venue opens an hour before showtime. If you go early, you can get up close and personal with performers on stage. Beautiful dim-lit chandeliers were the highlights of the venue. Acoustic was great, impactful but not too loud to hurt ears. The cellist killed it! Out of all my concert going experiences with Live Nation, Tamino's was the first who led me to imagine into another world. Small space and intimate setting were the major reasons. Sound, lighting and special effect added to the magic too. What a soul soothing journey. If you want to eat, check out their menu or nearby Japantown. The closest parking is at Japantown Fillmore Street garage, which is a block away. Friendly and respectful staff and security. Nice crowd. Top quality merch. They've got a whole slew of artists lining up for the next few months. Highly recommend this venue for intimate encounter with artists. read more

Living in the Bay Area for a while now, I have been to a few concerts here. Great venue to have an intimate experience with the performing act! From anywhere, you can see the artist very clearly. No audio issues. It is pretty inconvenient that everyone must leave the venue via stairs though. Seems like a hazard if someone were to trip. KPOP FANS BEWARE: They will confiscate your lightsticks! They will use blue painters tape to attach a claim check ticket and you'll have to pick it up after the show. They stored all of the lightsticks from my concert on THE FLOOR. So disrespectful honestly. A staff member could easily have stepped on one or kicked them around. read more

The Fillmore San Francisco is a historic music venue in San Francisco, California. It was built in 1912 and originally named the Majestic Hall. It became the Fillmore Auditorium in 1954. When I lived in San Francisco and in Berkeley I attended a lot of shows here. I saw the Grateful Dead, The Steve Miller Band, Jefferson Airplane, Quicksilver Messenger Service, Moby Grape, and others. (I can't remember them all.) I'm sure if I still lived in the area I'd be going to shows, if it was an artist performing that I want to see live. I'm glad The Fillmore is still in business. read more

Came here to watch Fletcher and it was a very historical feeling building. Lots of artwork and an open wooden floor for all standing except for reservation seats on the sides and upstairs. Upstairs is a cafe which serves food and drinks. The room across the cafe u can sit on balconies and watch the show but there r only a few seats. I likes the old timey feel of the building and the artwork. The sound system wasnt the best and standing allll night for 4 hrs was alot for me.. but it was a fun show! read more

We came for what should have been an amazing night at the Morgan Wade concert, and while she was incredible, and the meet-and-greet meant a lot to my mother-in-law, the experience at The Fillmore was disappointing. From the start, the staff was rude, complaining about the performers and creating an overall negative atmosphere. To make matters worse, my mother-in-law was assaulted by a drunk individual in the crowd--punched in the face. She chose not to retaliate and instead reported it to security, only to be told, 'We can't do anything because we didn't see it,' despite three witnesses confirming the incident. In the end, we were forced to leave for 'causing a scene'--which we accepted--but the person who assaulted my mother-in-law was allowed to stay and enjoy the show as if nothing had happened. Thanks to the Fillmore staff's handling of the situation, I will never return to this venue, no matter who is performing. read more

For my first time going here, it wasn't as bad as I thought. Yes it's old small intimate historical landmark with lots of history on the walls with pictures and posters of past performers on both floors. This is standing room only, unless you are lucky to get a reserved seating upstairs where the L shape Balcony is located at with a bar up there and in the back is the dinning room to order food and 2nd bar up there to eat, but you will not be able to see the show below. I wasn't clear in how people get reserved limited seats, but hope someone will ask and post the answers somewhere so next time I will know if I do go back. I was taking photos of the many posters along the way and reading the history of the place. I had no issues with any security or bouncers like others who complained in other reviews, but I am sure they were under 21 and forgot their ID. I played safe and got a drinking wristband in case I might drink something. The only issue I had I was taking photos near the reserved seats and the security guy said very bluntly these seats are reserved. I said no problem, I am taking photos only. People who buy tickets should already knew that The Fillmore is Standing Room only meaning not for people who cannot stand for long period of time and not exactly a place for disabled people to be at because it does get very crowded for the main act because I became trapped in the crowd when Michelle Branch was going to come on. I would have visited the merchandise booth to meet the opening act Katelyn Tarver, but I didn't want to lose my place. On the main floor above me are two rows of pretty chandeliers. On my right of the stage are a row of seats on the wall with some circle tables in front. I am not sure if people can see the performers when they are seated in the back wall if there are people standing in front of them? On my left is the main long bar with many bartenders and the the back is where we came in with restrooms for men and women on opposite sides and a small coat check. I have been wanting to go to The Fillmore for a long time but never could find an act that would take me inside. I did, but then the pandemic happened and I wasn't able to see that performer. But now I saw the talented Michelle Branch in this nice venue and I am happy. Glad to get one of those famous apples they pass out during the show. It was tasty and crunchy and refreshing. Thank you old owner Bill Graham who started this trend to give out apples to make it feel like you were going to his living room. It does make it feel like a homely comfortable feeling. Thanks Live Nation for keeping the tradition alive. People can drink anywhere apparently in the ballroom. After concert as I was leaving people spill their drinks on the ballroom. Why people do that? If you are dancing and throwing your arms around, what's the point of drinking? I have never understood that concept. And will the girl next to me stop screaming? The performer can't hear and really screaming doesn't do anyone any good and out your drink drown crazy girl! I would like to erase you so your voice is not in my recording of the concert. Grrr... Overall the crowd is nice, no pushing and very nice. I was afraid of that since it's standing room. But I guess it depends on the type of music and type of crowd it attracts. This is a world-class theater but the people working here are terrible. They will micromanage every little thing and yell at you for even the strangest reason. For instance, I was told to move away from the bar right after buying a drink, the funny thing was that there was NOBODY else at the bar so it was not like I was blocking anyone. I spent so much money here on drinks and food and the staff just looked and sounded miserable... especially the short dude with black hair and bear... he has a chip on his shoulder. Right after the show was over they started yelling at everyone to leave and I couldn't move towards the stage to go get my friend.... I've been to hundreds of venues but these people love playing rude cops. Everything is expensive here and you would at least expect some level of professionalism, not people who love to yell and play tough cops. If you are a band looking to perform in SF... If possible, find another venue where fans will be treated with decency. read more
