We hired this company in April 2025 for a $32,000 landscaping project that was represented as a two-week job. The project extended over two months and resulted in approximately $25,000 in additional charges labeled as "extras," many of which were not clearly disclosed or approved in advance. There were limited positives: the irrigation work and flagstone pathways were completed satisfactorily. However, the majority of the project involved significant issues: * No weed prevention measures were installed, resulting in ongoing maintenance issues * Mexican palms were installed despite being unsuitable for Central Texas conditions, requiring replacement at our expense ($3,750) * Planting quality was substandard--my wife literally planted all 17 pots herself because the crew did not know how to properly install or arrange them * Change orders were not transparently communicated (e.g., $500 per pot added without clear cost approval) * Artificial turf installation ($12,500) was performed without proper expertise and has failed completely * Drainage work was improperly executed (downsized piping), leading to continued water issues and property damage We have since received estimates totaling approximately $19,000 to correct these deficiencies. The owner acknowledged issues with the turf installation and initially agreed to remedy them. Based on that representation, we made an additional $12,000 payment. Shortly thereafter, the company withdrew from the project, asserted non-payment of disputed charges, and declared all warranties void. Work was largely performed by inexperienced crews, with inconsistent scheduling and lack of proper tools or materials. Due to the extent of the issues and unresolved financial disputes, we have retained legal counsel. If the company resolves these matters appropriately, we are open to updating this review. The WORST tree trimming job I've ever experienced! Brent Ackors might as well have sent a group of chimpanzees in with lawn clippers! In March I hired Green Ackors to trim some large pecan tree limbs back to get them out of the power lines. He sent Mexicans, legal or u legal, English speaking or not! They never spoke to me directly so there was no way to tell... What a mess!! After my instructions they basically did what they wanted! Now they're out in full growth & it shows what a mess they did!!! Long limbs, short limbs, tangled limbs! I'm appalled! Next Fall or Spring when you're considering tree trimming my advice to you would be steer clear of this business! Highly overrated & too expensive for the shoddy, shitty job they do! read more

Brent came out in March to work on a proposal. Said the proposal would be done in a week. Did not receive an email response or phone call. Sent an email to inquire about the proposal. He stated that he was working on a previous proposal and would get back to me within the next couple of days. Sent another email inquiring about the proposal. These guys are thieves and liars. Dropped my ID and debit when I was getting in my truck at a site they were doing landscaping. I was back to the site within 20 minutes to locate. It wasn't there. When I spoke to them they lied to my face saying they didn't have it. If their crew is like this imagine what the rest of the business is like. read more

Don't bother asking them for services because they are clearly too busy for new customers or want positive reviews or referrals. Had them out to our house to go over our needs... nothing big but nothing small either... and definitely needed regular lawn car... responded a few hours later in our email "we can't fit you in. We have 300 customers and everyone needs something." So why bother even coming out? Because I said I would only listen to whatever you had to say on a sprinkler system but that we were open to it but it would depend on the cost? He knew already what we wanted before he came out to our house... he just needed to see our place. I will put one point out there... And I do not say this lightly or without careful thought.... I do believe that if my partner, the pretty feminine one, had answered the door... and not me with the shaved head, but nice smile... he'd be none the wiser and we'd probably have our lawn mowed and nice flower beds by now. I hope I'm wrong.... But why on earth would you turn down good money.... repeat customers.... positive reviews... and referrals? Be better Waco. read more

I am writing this review with mixed emotions. I will give them 5 stars for their quality of work, but 0 stars for honesty and integrity !!! While Green Ackors has always done quality landscaping and sprinkler system work for me, my last experience with them was very disappointing and makes me question if I was not ripped off in the past? The latest experience: My sprinkler system stopped working and my Control Module error said it was a faulty Master Valve Solenoid. I called Brent and he said he would have someone at my house at 8:00am the next morning. Wow, that was quick service but it was not an emergency! The next morning two guys from Green Ackors arrived about 5 minutes early and said they were there to fix the leak in my sprinkler system??? I said I did not have a leak and explained the problem I was having with the Master Valve. Within a few minutes the faulty Master Valve solenoid was replaced. They also discovered that none of the sprinklers on zone-4 were working and they brought out their Wire Detector and quickly found a broken underground wire for zone-4, made the necessary repairs and the system was running fine. They departed 1 hour and 15 minutes after they arrived, and I was very impressed with their quick service and expertise. Now comes the bad part. About a week later I got and email with my bill from Brent just as I was boarding a plane at JFK airport in New York for a flight to Italy. The bill was for over $450 and that included $82 for parts and $337 in labor, plus taxes. I told Brent I as concerned about the exorbitant charges and would contact him to discuss these charges as soon as I got back home. He wrote back defending the charges based solely on his quality of work, but also indicated that he sent two Licensed Irrigation men to my house and charged me $75 each !!! and they were on site for (2.25 hours), 2 hours and 15 minutes!!! He also told me of the prices I was charged for parts, which I felt was more than twice the price of what I would pay for retail prices. He then indicated that the Parts prices included a $50 flat-rate $50 charge for using Wire Detector?? Why is that listed as Parts?? I agree that the prices I was charged for the actual parts was reasonable, but was not aware that $50 Wire Detector Usage was included in the price for "Parts" and why I even questioned the parts prices in the first place. The real problem I had was with the Labor charges. His men where onsite for 1 hour and 15 minutes. I made a mental note of the time when they arrived and when they left, but I also have irrefutable evidence. When I informed Brent that I disagreed with the 2.25 hours of labor he said he would check his records. I was shocked when he came back and said that his GPS system indicated that his men were onsite for 2.27 hours and then tried to claim they were on Overtime...so he could have charged me more??? I told him that he picked the time and overtime was not mentioned, and regarding his men being at my house for 2.27 hours that either his GPS data was lying or he was lying !! My Ace-in-the-hole proof: I never told Brent that I have motion detecting security cameras at my house that automatically records short 15 second, time-stamped videos when any motion is detected around my house. I have more than a dozen time-stamped videos showing exactly when his men arrived, when they moved around my yard, and when they finished, loaded up their gear, got in their truck and departed. I refused to pay for an additional $150 for an extra hour of labor that I can prove that his men were not working at my location and that his GPS data is a total BS lie ! Brent eventually agreed to accept my payment for the Parts, and use of the Wire Detector, but deducted 1 hour of labor ($150) and a $22 reduction in taxes for the overcharges. If you do business with Green Ackors, get hourly rates in advance and better still, get a written flat-rate quote for the job when possible. Also be sure to note the exact times they arrive and depart your location and ask them to sigh the timesheet as proof. I am not sure if Brent is dishonest, getting senile in his older age, or simply out of touch with what is really going on in his company. read more

I was really pretty happy at first. Then came the many staff changes. Luckily the mowers stayed the same and were super nice and good. The latest was the loss of Dennis who had given me a proposal. He quit, like others, and Brent was to take over. I contacted him Saturday and he did not mention being sick. On the day he was to be here, he texted that he had been sick all weekend with a sore throat and had to move the date to the next day. Turns out he did not contact the electric company to mark the area as the next day (Wed) I had to contact him again. He said he was still sick with allergies. I gave him off for Th and asked from Friday. Said he was feeling better Th and it was marked. Said he would call. Nope. In the morning I contacted him again to ask when the would be there. He decided he wanted to come and scope out the project instead. After knowing for two weeks. On Fri he said he didn't want to do it that way Dennis had it, but wanted to change it over to something else. He was going to give me a proposal the next day, Sat. Nope. Sunday either. Mon was a super rainy day, but did not hear from him at all. I emailed and asked later that afternoon about his wanting to do the drainage differently. He wrote back the next day that his wife was sick all weekend and he was going to take her to the doctor that morning. It really irked me that he lack the ability to contact me at many different intervals during this week of discussions and keep me informed. He kept putting off starting the project with various excuses. I wrote back to say "why am I not surprised" since he had excuse after excuse as to why he could not show up, had my 1/2 deposit, and wasn't working toward getting the project completed. He called me back and really blasted me nastily over the phone complaining that I should believe him when he says his wife is sick. I didn't, but that wasn't the problem. He avoided me the whole time, changed things around, and still wasn't getting to where the project was going to be completed. He said that he had put my project ahead of six others, which I found abhorrent. Why? I didn't ask him to, and if he really did that the other clients should be super made because mine was delayed so theirs had to be, too! I said that was on him, because it wasn't something I asked for. All I wanted was a date certain when he would start. He wrote back "I'm writing you a refund check for your down payment of the drainage work. I'm also deleting your invoice for July lawn care (don't have yet). We can just be done." I thought I had a contract but he said it isn't a contract, it was "It is a lawn care agreement.  Not a contract.  It is not legally binding. Please find someone else.  I can give you references, if you would like." I'm thinking he personally might not have known exactly how to do the french drain. Maybe he did, but he certainly did not create confidence with his discussions with me, or his lack of professionalism. So if you have a "lawn care agreement" with him, it isn't legally binding if you want to change to someone else. He certainly left me high and dry, both with the drainage work AND the lawn mowing. So I suggest if you want a reliable company you might want to find another one. Or, if you don't mind putting up with his shenanigans his guys do pretty good work...at least the ones who have yet to quit on him. I was super happy with them. I'd give those guys a five, and Brent a zero. read more

Called them last week, and the owner set up an apt with me for Monday at 6pm to design a blank slate new build house from the ground up. Probably several thousands of dollars. Friday I get a call and his representative says he will meet me, but needs to reschedule for Wed evening between 530 and 6. No problem, life happens. Wed evening comes and goes. No call, no show. I don't beg businesses to take my money that clearly don't want it. I'll try someone else. read more

Certainly he would have known that a few days prior...why did he come out? We would definitely NOT recommend Green Ackors. Brent came to our house & seemed interested in the relatively big job we needed done; said he'd put his bid in our mailbox on the weekend--but he didn't. Over about a 3-week period, we called several times to check & he said he'd been so busy, "just been covered up", & even that he'd lost our information & would come back out to redo his notes. Then he quit taking our calls & ignored our voicemail messages. So why not say in the very beginning he wasn't interested or didn't have the time instead of blatantly lying to us time after time??? They designed and installed 3 perfect beds with well-planned irrigation AND an amazing soil mix (THREE different types of compost!) After reading the previous review, I was very interested in getting Brent to come and landscape our front yard. He came and gave us a price and scheduled the work. We asked him to add another flower bed at the last minute and he worked it in. All seemed to be fine until a day or so after he did the first phase (sod cutting, tilling, new soil), until the next day. One of our crepe myrtle trees started to die. I decided to build a small burm around it to hold water. When I begin digging around the tree I found that he had not tilled the flower beds AT ALL! Yet we had paid him that day for work completed. When I contacted him that day, he said that he was going to do tilling before he planted . . . yet he had asked to be paid for it as work completed. Either he was not honest when he asked to be paid for work completed, or he was not honest when he said that he planned on doing it later. I cannot deal with someone who is not honest with me. He offered to come back and "fix" the problem, but did not offer to refund any of the money. Sorry . . . I can't deal with people like that! read more
