The first time I took my 8week old puppy there he was very sick the vet told me based on his labs. I was told they didn't know what was wrong but he needed a lot testing to rule out diseases they thought he may of had. after four days at Green acres hospital and a nearly $5000.00 bill. I was Able to bring him home with no official diagnosis other than worms. They treated him for worms!!! That's what I paid $5000.00 for!! Wait it gets better. After I take him home they tell me he's eating again and sent home some of the food they were giving him and said if he's not eating to call them. Well he was not. I called the Vet asked for an appetite stimulant that I was suppose to get when he was discharged, but did not. I called in the morning they told me to bring him back in. I thought he was better, why is he still not eating like they said he was? I went home early to take my son to an appt. Checked on the puppy and noticed he was sleeping. I called him but no response. I shook him slightly and still noting. I picked him up and his eyes tolled in the back of his head. He was dying, unresponsive. I ran to my truck with him in my hand and drove so fast to the Vet only five minutes away. Screaming at them that he's dying. They took him started wking on him. Meanwhile I'm in disbelief. They come out telling me his blood sugar is 55 and body temp 84. He needs to go back to the hospital. I'm confused overwhelmed, vulnerable and very emotional. "Ok " I said. They stabilized him and I drove him back to Green acres. They tell me they have to put together a plan of care and they'll be right out. I'm waiting , scared, that he will die, I have a huge vet bill I don't even know how I'm paying back , and he's still not out of the woods! They come out and give me a paper with a plan of care , but also another enormous amount of money at the bottom .. $5700.00!! WTF I just paid $5000.and he's still sick ! I'm now at their mercy and they know it! They took complete advantage of me! Needless to say I signed the sheet and kissed him telling him I'd be back to get him soon. I really didn't know if that would happen. But I needed to be optimistic! I went home and waited. Anticipating the worst case Scenario. I prepared myself for his death and the bill I was facing instead of the happy joyful summer days I was suppose to have with a new puppy. Five hours later I get a call from the Dr. she told me she was a GI specialist that worked there and was assigned to my puppy. She said that my puppy had a TAPE WORM . That he must have had it when we got him from the farm and it was hatching and the larvae was eating all his nutrients and blocking his bowels from moving waste that's why he only had a small BM that was liquid stool in the week we had him. . I told her that the other GI Dr. couldn't identify what he had from the nasal gastric tube she pulled out of him and saw the parasites on it? That it took him nearly ding and a nearly $12 000.00 vet bill all for a tape worm???? She said she couldn't speak on behave of the other Dr. but my puppy should be better in two days as long as he starts eating. They were starting him on Drontal a broad spectrum dewormer that kills nearly every worm a dog can get. They took advantage of me and didn't care, or give a RATS ass about my ability to pay! NEVER go there! You will be broke! I'm still paying that bill Plus interest on my credit card.. My puppy is now a year old last month and he is great! This place is 100% about making money. It's roughly $200 to walk in the door. Then add another $6500 for diagnostic testing. They then sent us home and called in the early am to say they need more testing ($5000). They don't do anything until you pay them, your dog is laid out on the table and nothing happens until you pay again. If I could give negative stars I would. We brought our cat in for a urinary emergency and experienced the most unprofessional treatment of our dear family member. We were forced to try and get our cat to pee on plastic pellets despite informing them he will refuse to use them (we spent 2 days trying to get a sample at home on the exact pellets). They also knew how dehydrated he was but they insisted we waste time because it was easier for them. They then used a pee spot OFF THE FLOOR for urinalysis testing. They told us there was bacteria present in the sample pulled off of the filthy floor. They refused to catheter him and get a clean sample and sent us on our way with meds and no real answer. I question everything they claim they did. They would not give me the printed results of blood work. After spending $4000 on dentistry my cat died slowly because she couldn't keep food down. This place just takes your money and helps your pet die. Their technicians are not present to help in exams, the doctor doesn't see you at discharge. There are no written discharge directions. Went to Green Acres on 4/30, my cat was crying and in pain while using her litter box, so I took her to Green Acres- a sister vet to my old vet (now since changed since this incident) $2,158.30 cents later, no diagnosis, holding her in the back rooms for HOURS, and finally coming to the conclusion that they're going to charge me 300$ on medication she didn't even use and or need. THIS PLACE IS A SCAM. All they found on any X-Rays or bloodwork was that she had a little gas in her tummy. $2,000 later and she is completely fine after just eating chicken and rice for a few days. The doctor couldn't also understand dates & times and had to reiterate multiple times. As I was also waiting, a family came in with a larger dog ready to cross the rainbow bridge, but of course not until they brought out the wallet and paid THREE TIMES- if you don't pay right then and there, you're in the street. I want my money back!!! I am reporting to NYS as this practice isn't a business. It's a swindle operation to try and get you for as much as you can give for your babies. I had to bring my dog here during a blizzard because they were the only one open. They charged thousands and wanted to charge more to keep her overnight to give her medication every couple hours. They also took x-rays. I asked if I could give her the meds myself and begrudgingly they said yes saving me more. I called the next day for the results of the x-rays but they informed me that since my attending wasn't working for another couple days I would have to wait until he was back on call. Green Acres saved my dog, Moncho. My husky got into my other dog's anxiety medication and ate about 40 pills. I truly didn't think he was going to make it. He spent four days and four nights in the ICU there, and the staff and doctors were absolutely amazing every step of the way. They never seemed annoyed by my constant calls. In fact, they called me regularly with updates. They were in constant communication with poison control to guide them through safely treating the toxicity. They also understood this would be expensive and discussed cost-saving options with me -- without me even asking. When it comes to my dogs, I'll pay whatever it takes, but that meant so much to me. I'll be honest -- I was scared to bring my dog there after reading some reviews. But my experience was completely different. Losing a pet or seeing them sick is heartbreaking, and I think sometimes reviews are written from a place of fear, grief, or frustration. What I saw were doctors and techs who truly care about animals and chose this field because they love them. I didn't think my dog would ever come home -- but he did. And now he's back to his normal self. I 100% recommend Green Acres if your pet is sick. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE!!!! It has taking me a week to be able to explain what happened.. my best fur kitty had had liver issues several days before and was being treated at Buffalo Feline Hospital. He had a feeding tube in, on a Friday. It was ok Saturday. By Sunday he wasn't himself, he vomited the feeding tube up. So off we went to this place cuz it was the closest to us. Even after being warned not to go here by my sister in law. But he needed help now. We got there at 5pm, got in a room relatively quickly. Thats when things went wrong. It took over 2 hours in this extremely cold room. My buddy was not doing well. We came to the conclusion we were going to put him down. He was just staring out in space. He was tired of fighting. FINALLY the doctor came in, he was pretty lifeless at this point . She left, got another girl to put catheter in. He was really down for the count after that. THEN a girl from the desk came in needed payment. MY CAT WAS CONVULSING IN FRONT OF US! Nope they want to talk about his cremation and shit. INAPPROPRIATE like WTF!!!! I give my husband our credit card and goes to pay for everything. In the meantime he is convulsing and he finally took his last breath in front of me. WHERE IS THE DIGNITY FOR MY BUDDY!!!! I took my dog into Green Acres EMERGENCY office. She was crying in pain. We paid the $200 emergency fee. We waited 2 hours and 45 minutes for the vet!!!! And he just talked to me - did absolutely nothing. No sorry it took so long, it was like routine! Said he would get a urine sample to check for a UTI. But first, he had to get me paperwork to fill out approving the charges. I asked if he would be 'right back'? He said yes. I waited 15 more minutes - and he was nowhere. I brought my senior cat to this facility on 2 separate occasions, one of which was his euthanasia when he had succumbed to end stage kidney disease and his regular vet was not open (outside normal hours) Both occasions had the potential to be extremely traumatic but I cannot express how kind, compassionate, professional and empathetic every single staff member was. And this made a WORLD of a difference in my experiences. I must focus on his final appointment, my cat became very ill unexpectedly. I was in denial when I brought him in but knew deep down that it was his time. The staff at this facility treated him with the utmost dignity and compassion and ran every possible test to make absolutely sure we could walk into this decision knowing it was the right one. Even at the point of euthanasia, the vet performing the procedure took my cat's mental wellbeing into account. He waited until my cat was calm and peaceful to approach him and inject the medications because it was equally important to the vet that my cat's final moments were kind and loving. Writing this has brought me to tears but I can say with absolute confidence that my cat and I were able to make the best of our final hours together with the help of the Green Acres staff. I was referred to Green Acres because my foster kitten needed a CT scan, but the communication throughout the entire process was extremely disappointing. The first issue was scheduling. I was told--and have a text confirming--that the CT would happen at our first appointment. When I arrived, I was informed it was only a consultation and the kitten fasts in case the CT was available. I was charged for the consult, and not all of my questions were answered. I requested a call from a manager but never received one. At the next visit (for the actual CT), I spoke with the manager in person. She acknowledged there were errors on their part, she never received my message, I was provided a small credit, and assured me the communication issues and incorrect text messages would be addressed. For the CT itself, I dropped my kitten off at 7 a.m. as instructed. I was told the scan images would be reviewed that same day by a third party. At noon, I was told the kitten was being prepped for the scan, but at 4:30 p.m. I spoke with the vet--who said she never performs scans before 4 p.m. and he was would be going in soon. Yet another miscommunication. Later that evening, I was informed the scan was complete and that a polyp had been removed. I picked up my kitten at 10 p.m. and was told results would be available in 7-10 days. This was confusing because earlier I was told the scans were reviewed the same day by the third party but I did not the swab would take longer. Once the results came in, I spent a week playing phone tag because the vet calls from a restricted number and offsite location, making it impossible to call back directly. I missed two calls and called back within 5 minutes each time and apparently only the vet can release results. Then I received the email with the results that left questions on what the next step was so I left another message. I finally getting some clarification. From the time to the first call to the last call it was 7 days Lastly, I requested copies of the CT scan records. The first set I received contained only two images, not the full scan. I have placed 2 requests and we are on day 6 with no response. While I'm very grateful my kitten is doing well, the overall experience was extremely frustrating. The repeated miscommunications, delayed responses, and lack of clear process made what was already a stressful medical situation even harder. I hope Green Acres improves their communication and follow-up so future clients don't go through the same experience. 10/30/25: I did receive a call today from Christa to address my concerns and she listened and did make sure I received the images. I will say I had to deal with Dr. Toth and the emergency department recently for a different cat and had a wonderful experience. read more

This review is for Dr. Karson, the neurologist at Green Acres. 10/10 would recommend. Pet owners in WNY are extremely lucky to have another neurologist locally. Orchard Park's specialists book up quickly, and the other closest options are either out of state, or several hours away, which was not feasible for our family. Orchard park emergency vet was unable to see us as their neurologist was booked up. When my vet mentioned that Green Acres had a new neurologist on their team, it was a great relief. My dog has had chronic back issues and suspected IVDD that was worsening and becoming a paralysis risk so we needed care fast. We knew we wanted a MRI and to discuss what our options were after imaging. Green Acres took us in as an emergency and we had a same day neuro exam. We were encouraged to pursue imaging by Dr. Karson and her tech Mathew. Both were compassionate and supportive and clearly explained the process. We were quoted for the MRI with or without surgery, so they were very transparent on that front. The high end quote was very reasonable. The MRI occurred just a few days after our initial consult. Dr. Karson called while my dog was still under anesthesia and said she found 2 problematic discs in my dogs back that were compressing her spinal cord. She was confident that she would be able to help my dog with surgery, but also explained the risks associated. While we did not feel pressured to do so, we decided to move forward with surgery. After a 4 hour intensive procedure, they hospitalized my dog overnight to monitor her and provide pain management. We are 2 weeks out from and my dog is healing well. This is a major surgery with a long recovery, but we were well educated by Dr. Karson and Mathew on what that would look like. We ended up paying less than the high end of our quote. The urgency and transparency of the care that we received made us feel that they truly cared for my dog's well being. We hope that this review helps other people in the community who may need a neurologist for their pet. read more

I would give zero stars if I could. ‼DO NOT GO TO GREEN ACRES‼ It was a holiday weekend, and I tried three different emergency vets for a life-threatening issue with my cat. The first three didn't have the doctors or availability to handle the situation. My only hope was Green Acres. I brought him in, and they refused to even see him until I put down a $750 deposit. They took my money and brought my cat to the back. After waiting two hours in a freezing cold room, someone finally came in -- not to talk about his condition, but to talk money. I asked if they had started anything yet, and they said no. Then they began discussing cost. They said they "did their best" to come up with a quote I could afford, and that they "dipped into a fund" to help cover what I couldn't pay. They finally began treating him after three hours -- even though he was already in critical condition: hypothermic, with low vitals (what they told me while discussing payment) i wasnt able to see him at all since checking in. They performed surgery and then called me to pick him up before the anesthesia had even worn off. When I got home and got a better look, I took him out of the carrier. The surgical site was bloody, his fur was dirty, and he had pee stains on him. He was completely out of it, so I made him comfortable, kept him warm, and let him rest. In the morning, I checked on him -- and he was gone. I hate this place. I had a terrible feeling the moment I walked in, but like I said, it was the only vet available with a surgeon for the procedure -- a urinary blockage, which is quickly fatal if left untreated. They made me wait three hours and made sure they had my money before doing anything. And even then, they did the bare minimum, neglecting many treatments and half assing his care. When I called to tell them he didn't make it, they suggested I bring him in for a batch cremation -- where I wouldn't even get his ashes back. Just toss him in a pile with all the other animals they've neglected. The last time this happened to him, I paid under $600 at his regular vet. This place quoted me $7,000 for the same treatment. They charge $80 just to take a blood pressure reading. And no, they dont have payment plans. This place is the lowest scum of society -- preying on people who love their pets. I lost my best friend of 11 years because of this money-hungry, heartless factory. Fuck them -- and fuck every single person who works there for allowing this kind of greed and predatory practice to continue. read more

My dog was throwing up several times and shaking. When I called my regular vet they were unable to see her the same day. Unfortunately, without doing enough research I brought her to the Green Acres emergency vet. They charge you 186.00 up front just to walk in the door. Then they charged an additional 2,000 for some blood work an IV and X-rays and to be admitted to their "ICU". They sent us home and said they would call with an update. Before the doctor called me to update me the front desk staff called to ask to go over an estimate for additional treatment and tests that were unnecessary and exorbitant costs. I asked to pick her up and take her to my primary vet for a second opinion. This is the second time that I needed to bring in my Labrador Retriever (a search and rescue dog for New York State) for an urgent medical problem. From the moment we arrived, the staff were compassionate and very professional. In a very stressful situation, their calm confidence and thoroughness made all the difference. This emergency vet service was the worst experience ever. The priority here is clearly money. Immediately you are charged $165 just to walk in the door. Which is completely fine. Then you are charged again just for the "diagnosis". I was charged $1,800 that time, which was basically for an x-ray and some IV fluids. Then again charged you are are charged for the "treatment". It was another $500 in my case for an enema and some medicine which they claimed my cat would have to be on FOREVER. Extremely misleading and predatory practice to make THREE different transactions. The cost was exorbitant. It's clear that your staff has been informed not to react to the shock of costs to clients. There's zero compassion and mostly dead stares when talking about cost. They push the Care Credit card, which I had to get. In the end, there's just no way to justify $2,500 for a constipated cat. Yes, that was his diagnosis. And the most insane part is that they recommended he stay overnight which was quoted as an *additional* ballpark figure of $3,000!!! To watch my cat take a dump. They claimed he would be sick and have diarrhea from the enema, nope never happened. He was totally fine and the medicine they said he'd have to be on forever? Not necessary one single bit. He's completely fine. A quick look at the Google reviews show many have the same issues with price gouging. I am just supremely disgusted at the whole thing and I just could never, ever recommend this place to a single soul. I had an incredibly disappointing experience at Green Acres Veterinary Center in Tonawanda, NY on Thanksgiving Day. My Vizsla, a well-cared-for and health-tested AKC Grand Champion, was lethargic and unable to walk properly, so I brought her in for evaluation. While the front desk staff were wonderful and supportive, the veterinarian was not. Instead of approaching the situation with professionalism and care, the veterinarian I saw immediately berated me for not having her spayed--without asking any questions about my knowledge, background, or responsible breeding practices. He made an alarming statement about possible "pus in her uterus" before any examination or blood work was even conducted, attempting to pressure me into unnecessary medical decisions based on fear rather than facts. After running tests (which he convinced me to do despite my dog's vitals being normal), he diagnosed her with pancreatitis and insisted that I had to admit her, claiming I wasn't capable of administering her medications at home. He even went so far as to say, "She could die from this" if I took her home. In an already emotional state--worried about my dog and facing my own surgery the next day--I felt pressured into agreeing. Later, after a shift change, a different veterinarian told me that my dog did not have pancreatitis and that other explanations for her test results had not been considered. My dog was stable, eating, drinking, and never vomited--contrary to the first vet's dire warnings. Despite this, I was still encouraged to proceed with more costly tests while I was literally being prepped for surgery. If there had truly been a serious medical issue, I wouldn't hesitate to pay whatever was necessary--but I now firmly believe that the first veterinarian was more interested in maximizing the bill than in my dog's well-being. He used fear-based tactics and a rushed, judgmental approach rather than calmly discussing my dog's condition and realistic options. This experience felt manipulative and predatory. I cannot recommend this clinic based on my encounter, especially for those in vulnerable emotional situations. We are appreciative this 24hr vet exists and they were able to keep our dog alive. With that said, they overcharge horribly, resulting in them needing to give us a huge refund which took weeks. They also said they would send our records to our normal vet and did not. The vet called the night before our follow up appointment, the day of our appointment and still no records in time for our appointment to work on a treatment plan for a life threatening illness. read more

This is a business for profit, plain and simple. I've been coming here on and off for 5 years because every time one of my dogs has an issue it just happens to be after hours or on the weekend. It's the only 24 emergency vet in my vicinity. $200 to walk in the door. $900 for X-rays. Another $300 for a splint. A SPLINT! They quoted me $10,000 for a surgery. Within 30 minutes I was in contact with another vet in Corfu via a friend who said it's possible just to cast the leg. If surgery is necessary it should cost HALF of what green acres quoted me. Honestly the staff is always really nice and professional, but whoever owns this place is a criminal. read more

Rip-OFF. Place needs to be shutdown. They want to board your animal for as long as possible to rake in their outrageous boarding fees.

Brought my sick kitty there, they went above and beyond and helped her. I got a diagnosis finally that I've been searching for for year. 10/10 staff and facility. I contemplated switching to them but they work with my vet already so I just go to them for emergencies. read more
