Review of Ultimate Lawn Care…read more Near the end of July I entered an agreement with ULC to remove existing lawn and replace with St. Augustine sod grass. The first day they sprayed the lawn to kill all the grass and weed on my lawn. They failed to mark out my lawn's perimeter with the neighbors and killed some of their grass. In the removal process they damaged the sprinkler system costing me an extra $200.00. When they started to install the sod I could only describe as where it lands it stays. As they obviously had no plan as to my property borders about a half of skid was on the golf course property. I then provided them with some twine to use marking my property so sod was only put on my property not the golf course. The left side where they killed the neighbor's grass they used sod I paid for but the line instead of being straight is a complete example of their unprofessional character. The line is not a line but a wondering along a crooked path. After two days they discovered that they were several pallets short as their estimate grossly understated the amount of sod needed. I was foolish enough to pay for 75% of the additional cost to which I never received a thank you and mostly received an attitude that I should have paid for all of their mistake. The original estimate was for $5,775.00 and I foolishly paid $9,000.00. My next problem is where one area is not doing well with about 75% of the sod dead and 25% showing life. I asked ULC about the problem to which they stated their not responsible for the sod. They concluded that I wasn't watering it as instructed. UTC had their sprinkler contractor program my sprinkler system and they advised me it was set and I didn't have to do anything. I needed some additional sprinkler work and the company I contacted told me that the zone 5 problem area was never set thus no watering. All my sprinkler heads had cement rings around them. When I asked UTC about the rings, I was told they would look into it, which means I will have to replace them at my expense. My opinion of ULC is that they don't know how to plan, estimate, execute or hire competent workers. There is a definite lack of integrity and professionalism dealing with ULC. For warned is for armed.

I soon learned why - so he could jack up the price once he arrived on site. I foolishly accepted. Such an amateur. He and his assistant managed to break my water main and flood my yard. No water in the house for my family all day. Then he dragged the entire downed tree through the mud rather than cutting it up. Broke my rock bed curbing and two water sprinklers and left a huge rut through the yard. He promised to return the same day for the stump grinding and to clean up. That was a lie. He grabbed the check and ran. Left the entire mess for me to fix. Avoid C&P at all costs.

Examination of our .5-acre property revealed other trees in poor condition, plus some other large banana trees that we wished removed. Jimmi came out and spend a good amount of time going over our needs and explaining the process; Cody and the crew did a great job of taking down the trees, trimming some problematic branches on remaining trees, and removing debris. It was quite inspiring to see these professionals making quick work of our problems, and I'm glad I don't have to worry about the next big storm crashing one of my trees into our own house or that of a neighbor. We found him upbeat, collaborative, and enthusiastic to work with on the design itself. Once we agreed on the design, it took a couple of weeks for his schedule add us in. His crew worked very diligently to remediate the debris from pool construction with some top soil, added sod in areas damaged by construction, and planted a mixed group of perennials for privacy and color around our pool cage. The plants themselves were very vigorous and a great quality. We felt Myakka offered a wonderful combination of knowledge, value, and a desire to please the customer.
