Stayed here for one night during a Northwest Michigan nature getaway. Jan and Jim are both super hip kind folks that gladly take care of your every need or want. Jan was very accommodating with my vegan lifestyle and made me a delicious breakfast. The rooms are all decorated different, with lots of original and traditional Victorian decor. Lots of opportunity to learn about the history of the home, the prior owners, and the town. Plenty of literature. The sunroom is fantastic! There's really so much to say, but I'll leave it at-trust this five star review and book your stay here, ASAP!

My thought processes was where can I go within driving distance with Bentley(my fur-baby), hike and take in beautiful sunsets on the beach.... After a short search Michigan and Highway 31 Cabins checked ALL the boxes! The airbnb hosts Charlie and Andra were great! They responded within minutes to my messages, gave detailed/easy to understand directions to their location and instructions on how to enter the cabin along with where to park(all very much appreciated!)... the area is super cute, half circle of cabins, complete with a fire pit. Once inside everything looked up just as pictured on their Airbnb site; no surprises. My favorite part was the information binder with "insider/local" tips, love exploring the hidden gems to local areas. Lots of amazing sites to see within a reasonable distance. Pictured below are a few of the places I explored during my stay. I'm not telling you where I went... you'll need to book Highway 31 Cabins for the inside scoop. They put a lot of effort in on mapping out locations(all in the information binder); I'm not just going to give it away... ;) The entire process from booking, checking in and out was seamless; overall a great experience!

Keep in mind that there is no AC for those few days in Michigan that you may need it. Also all rooms do not have adjoining bathrooms. Some rooms must use the common bathroom down the hall. I happened to stay right after the summer rush ended, so I was one of only a few guests staying at the motel. Check-in was fairly simple, and I was shocked at how they still do most of their business without computers. Computers or not, they were friendly and very efficient. The location is absolutely perfect, as its right at lighthouse park at the mouth of the Manistee river at Lake Michigan - beaches galore at your fingertips...toe-tips My room was small, and had a queen bed. All was clean and absent of any sort of bad odors and stains. Everything was outdated, but in a delicious, kitschy way. The view out of my room was amazing, and there were plenty of chairs and tables available for enjoying the view from your front porch. They provided free Wi-Fi, and firewood for a bonfire we had one of our nights there. We were provided with minimal toiletries, so definitely bring your own. You'll also find barbecues and pretty much anything you need to enjoy a vacation on the beach. I highly recommend this place if you're on a budget, or if you're low-maintenance and value a beautiful view over luxurious accommodations.

The house is gorgeous and has nearly all original details from 100 years ago. The room I was in (the Canfield Suite) was beautifully redone with the most gorgeous window seat I've seen. Everything was extremely clean and beautifully decorated. The food was excellent! They cater well to specific food restrictions and changed the menu daily. If they have the coffee cake or the blueberry French toast bake (similar to a quiche), you will have seconds! The team there is superb and we're very welcoming. They are the new owners of the property and seem to have a lot of plans for themed weekends and events. They were keen to make everyone's stay perfect and we're so helpful even when my flights were canceled multiple times and I needed to unexpectedly extend my stay.

We booked just a couple weeks before Memorial Day weekend for just one night and we felt the price was fair, especially to split between 2 people. There was 2 full size beds, a tv, a mini fridge, and a couple other things available. Clean towels and clean bathroom. They also had a table and chairs right outside the door for some outdoor patio seating. I couldn't find any way to control the air conditioning, if the room even had any?, but we felt cool throughout the night anyways and slept well. Of course it's a little older but that's what you're gonna get in a small up north beach town. It got the job done for what we needed. It was within walking distance to town and we did not have any trouble parking on the property, right in front of our room. The women at the front desk was friendly when we checked in and provided us with the Wi-Fi password. The only real disturbance was a man parked next to us dumping opened cans of beer from his car, right next to our car and feet at 8am when we were leaving.. classy lol
