They don't have the fanciest new cabs, and they're metered so probably a little more expensive than an Uber or a Lyft, but I've taken these guys multiple times to the airport at all times of the day and they've only been late once (and that was only ten minutes and they called ahead to let me know). Now that I have a child in a carseat, they're always amenable to sending a van* to make sure we get to the airport and there appears to be no extra charge for that. Imagine getting a van on Uber! Really appreciate these guys, even if it's not the lap of luxury. * - a child in a carseat is the least of our issues when we travel -- we need the van to carry the stroller, and extra luggage and car seat carrier. She's only 25 pounds and two feet tall! How does she require so much stuff? read more

Those guys do need a good review. Taxis are very clean, drivers are polite and friendly, they always arrive early. I use them from San Mateo to SFO many times and they are great every time. I've tried other company I found on Yelp, but they were not good every time, that's when I changed different taxi company, until I use Green Cabs. It's a small company, I think they only have 10+ taxis. It's easier to manage when the company is small. Hope they will have good business, expand the company and still do a great job! read more

I had a very tight schedule to keep on a Monday, with an onsite business meeting in San Mateo immediately followed by an SFO flight, with an hour before my plane took off. I don't cab often for flights so I am always looking for a better experience, and punctuality and responsiveness are key on a tight schedule like this. I used Burlingame Taxi|Green Cab's online reservation system (+1 on that) to schedule a pickup in SM at 11:45, Monday AM, and requested an email confirmation (you have choice of email or call). I did not receive a confirmation email until the next day, around 20 hours later, at 8:20 on Sunday morning. I also had a voicemail waiting for me from the cab company verbally confirming (didn't request that, but ok no prob) a pickup at the wrong time, on the wrong day. When I tried to call them to correct the mistake all I got was ring, ring, ring until eventually an anonymous mailbox. I did not leave a message, because I wasn't sure if this was the cab company or not (no OGM). I'm guessing this is forwarded to a personal cellphone perhaps, as I got a return call from that number a little bit later. The guy seemed very courteous, but was still a little confused despite my online res. Based on other reviews I gather that these guys provide a good experience, but I need someone who has their scheduling/dispatching system squared away if I can trust them for tight pick ups. read more

I was ariving at SFO, tired from a cross country trip. I stepped outside to the departure doors. I know that I was supposed to go down stairs, schlep my bags across 3 lanes of oncoming traffic and wait in line for a cab, but instead I decided to try and snag a cab that had just dropped off a passenger. I did this becuase: 1) It was the closest, fastest and easiest, and 2) because I knew I was only going to San Bruno which is only a 6-8 minute cab ride and cabbies get really crabby when they wait in really long lines to get a fare that they think will be a $45 ride into San Francisco and they find out that you are just going 8 minutes away. It seemed like a win-win. I don't schlep or have to brave a trip with a pissed off driver. He gets a fast fare and doesn't have to wait in line. Simple right? No. The driver I waved down in cab 01 said that he was free and that he would in fact pick me up there, but when I went to get in, he asked where I was going. I said, "To my car in San Bruno, at the body shop where I left it before my trip" He said, " I have a $40 minimum from the airport" I asked, "Are you allowed to do that?" He repeated himself so I did as well, then he just drove off. A fellow passenger standing nearby saw the interaction and said that it is not legal for them to pick me up there period. He did say that they can charge 1.5 times normal fare, but he was breaking the law by even stopping to get me there. (he told me that he is also a driver himself) I don't fault him for wanting to pick me up but to try to get me to give him $40 for 2.8 miles is just wrong. I would have had no problem paying 1.5 times. That would have likely been $15-20. and it would have taken him 15 minutes round trip at that time of night. Besides, there is a meter. The meters build in consideration for short trips by charging a flat fee for the first mile. I heard that it is not legal in some areas to ask where a rider is going. They are on duty, it is in their territory, and i'm pretty sure it is not legal to decline a ride because it is only 3 miles away and I am, pretty positive that it is not legal to say that they charge a flat $40 fee from the airport. Drivers like these give the industry a bad wrap. This is why I love Uber, Lyft and Sidecar! Once we had little we could do, now we have Uber. I ended up just hailing the next sedan (I know, not allowed at the airport) and I offered him $20 and tipped him $5 and he was not only willing but happy and gracious to take me. That is the service we all deserve, and with service like that, perhaps more of us would be willing to give up our cars all together. read more

Here's my story: I call the night before for at 8am pickup with a toddler carseat to the airport. The Green Cab emailed my confirmation with a question to see if a 8:15am pick up is ok. My husband and I thought, no problem, 15min is fine as long as it's on time. Skip to morning of pick up. 8:20, no one. We called. "ok, ok, he's on his way". He got there at 8:25, 10 min late. What do you know, he has an INFANT carseat. My toddler CANNOT fit in an infant carseat. The cabby called the company, they got another guy to come with the correct carseat. I called, I asked if they can do anything for me since going to the airport is a very time sensitive thing... "I know it is, he's on his way" (x3). Fine, you don't get me... forget it. 8:45, he shows up. We had to put in the carseat ourselves; another 5min. Our flight board at 9:30... good god. Moral of the story: Just say no. This whole experience sucked. The cab was 45 min late and they didn't so much discount this ride. read more

Excellent service! I had been looking on Yelp for taxi company reviews and I had yet to find a cab company who didn't have a history of not showing up or picking up customers! I would find a cab company with pretty good reviews and then I would read ones that stated "They never showed up and we rushed to call another cab company" or "They were 45 minutes late and I missed my flight." So I was unable to find a reliable cab company and I needed a ride to the airport so it was really important that I found a company that had a good work ethic. Enter Green Cab! You make your reservation online and they send you an email confirmation. That's more reliable than calling and speaking to a rude dispatcher who then later might argue that she has no record of your making a reservation, since it's not in writing. Our Green Cab driver was Garry and he was wonderful--friendly and communicative without being annoyingly chatty. He drove safely and is a fantastic employee. I would request him again. I found out that he always works the early morning shift, so it's good that Green Cab employs people for specific timeframes. I am taking off one star because in the email from the manager/boss, he said that it is company policy that the driver arrives 5-10 minutes early (which our driver did) to the desired location and that the driver or dispatcher *will call you to let you know that the cab is there*, but I never received a phone call, even though I gave my number when I made my reservation! Not receiving that call assuring me that the driver was there and didn't forget made me nervous. But I had a good experience with them and will definitely call them again in the future! I called the night before to book a ride to the airport (so about 12 hours notice) and the driver was prompt, polite and was fine with my detour to the atm at my nearby bank. The driver was courteous and drove in a nice, sane way. I am a woman traveling alone and I never felt unsafe. The ride cost about $26 with tip. Things to remember: this is a taxi, not a towncar service, so it's pretty "blue collar." The car was clean and had no odor or anything else that might make you feel uncomfortable, but clearly a lot of rides have been given in the car- so perfectly okay! I gave 4 stars due to the car being a pretty standard sedan and not a hybrid, electric or biodeisel vehicle. Great service! read more

First time on yelp( used yelp for picking Green taxi. Sorry to be the downer. Called for airport trip from Broadway in Millbrae. Get called from dispatcher , says taxi is waiting for me. After about 5 calls and fifteen minutes, cab finally shows . Says taxi went to Burlingame, even though I kept saying Millbrae, spelled the cross-street over and over. Spoke in English. Top company, excellent service, highly recommended. Having used this cab company on several occasions, I can safely say that they are very reliable, never late, honest drivers, clean cars. Used them to go SFO few times, or to get to a meeting, love their service. I will usually have a cab booked in advance for my airport trips and they never let me down. Their cab always arrive to pick me up about 10 minutes before my pick up time. I actually asked them why send the cab early, and the dispatch kindly explained that it is company policy to dispatch drivers a little early in case their is traffic in order to guarantee that they stay on time. I would like to add that I always book my cabs about 24hour in advance, that's because I usually need a cab to catch a flight or attend a meeting, as mentioned above, and I understand that taxi companies can get busy at times, I guess that is why they were never late. Anyhow, after using other local companies, this is my favourite one, and I always have a lovely conversation with the driver. I will certainly keep using them. read more

DO NOTE USE THIS TAXI COMPANY!!! I take Uber, Lyft and Sidecar all the time from my house in SSF to/from SF. It is always a smooth experience, I have never had to wait and it usually costs $30-$40. Unfortunately my usual options were not available so I decided to give this Taxi company a try. There were 5 of us so we needed a big car. 10 REASONS TO NEVER USE THIS COMPANY 1-The Taxi was 30min late 2-The driver couldn't figure out how to get the address in his GPS so her proceeded to charge us when we requested to just let us give him the directions he declined. At this point it was at least $6 before we even left the house 3-The driver almost got into 2 accidents with multiple cars honking at him it was very scary 4-The driver took the longest way possible from our house on the wrong freeways 5-He was taking wrong turns and my boyfriend had to direct him in the right directions 6-When our usual ride cost $30-$40 this ride turned out to be $60 7-When we arrived we called the company to complain about this experience and nothing was done to rectify the issue 8-We told the driver we felt cheated and that his fare was wrong because he was getting lost and charging us for that time. The driver then started to threaten us that he knows where we live and he would be after us 9-The argument got escalated and the driver started calling the police because we didn't agree with his fee 10-It took so long to get there and the arguing wasn't worth it anymore so we paid him. Simple, easy. Needed a 5am pickup to head over to SFO. Made a reservation online; they offer a phone confirmation if you need it, or you receive a personal confirmation via email. The driver, Jason, was at least 20 minutes early, ready and waiting for me. We had a pleasant chat and a quick ride. Like all cab companies, if you need an early morning pickup, you should call or reserve the night before. They don't have unlimited drivers sitting around waiting at 5am, that would be entirely unsustainable. read more

On the way back I called from the gate after deplaning and they were waiting for me at the curb. Nice drivers and probably most import clean cabs. I was worried about the taxi showing up late based on my past experiences with other cab companies so I scheduled the pick up 45 minutes earlier than I needed to be. I didn't have to worry about it because the cab showed up on the dot! The driver was great; very professional and he actually followed the driving laws! If the company couldn't meet my timeframe they should have said so in advance....not give me excuses about the tight turnaround time AFTER they agreed to provide the service and the driver was late. I've used Green Cab Peninsula multiple times, and usually the service is fine, but the most recent trip wasn't. The dispatcher wrote down the wrong address for me so the driver couldn't find me. He didn't accept credit cards, and didn't have a receipt to give to me. The cab looked like an old police car, and still had the metal barrier separating the front seat from the back seat. After this most recent trip, I'll think twice about using them again. read more

The first one got hit and the driver didn't bother to call the company and let them know to send another one. I had to call the company myself and ask where the hell my cab was. It's freezing cold, late, and I've had an extremely long work day and I want to get home. Terrible service, this is not how a cab company should be. Howard with taxi cab #3 was a gem! I left a valuable in his car and he not only was honest and saved it for me, he also held onto it until I returned from my travels. I didn't get a receipt from him, so there was no record of who the driver was so it would have been easy for him to keep it or say another passenger might have taken it. But wait! You might say, well that was nice and many drivers would do that, however Howard delivered the item--in the rain. When I offered to give him a tip he refused saying, "it's important people are reunited with their things, and if I can make their day brighter that's all that matters." Yay Howard! I arrived at a hotel in the San Mateo area at around 12 noon today. Had two meetings quite far away - one in Santa Clara and one in San Jose this afternoon. I don't drive. Natural to take a cab from San Mateo but I think I would have a problem getting a cab to send me back from San Jose to San Mateo as it's two different peninsulars. So I had an idea of getting a cab from here to send me to my meetings, have the cab wait a bit and send me back to my hotel. The quote I got was $250 round trip. Which is quite fair considering that the total distance travelled is around 80 miles. The green cab arrived early. Cab driver is Jason. The journey there and back was smooth. He waited nearby during my meetings and I could just call him to pick me up. All in all, the total time I have the exclusive use of the cab was about 5 hours. Safe and reliable. Reserved for 4am Christmas Day and taxi cab was a no show. Dispatcher called me at 4:10am asking me why I was not at the pickup point; however, I have been there for about 15 minutes already and never saw the cab. I corroborated the address with them and they had the right address, they just didn't show up. Thanks Green Cab for the extra $70 bucks that I had to spend on the Long Term Parking at the airport. Do not travel with this company. Read our experience. We used one of their cabs. We had to go from an RV rental company to our hotel. The RV rental called their office and told that we were with with 4 persons and luggage/suitcases and that we could only pay with Visa. After some time there came a Van, The Driver told us that the luggage could not fit in the back and the last seats had to move down. We had to lift the suitcase by our self in the cab. The row chairs that was left for us was too small for 3 grownup persons. We drove to our hotel in San Bruno. The driver put the address in his navigation system. After a while the system told to leave the Highway. The drive ignored it and the new route was longer in distance and time. After a while the navigation again gave a message to leave the highway and again the driver ignored it. MAnd again the new route was longer in time and distance. The last route was the route he followed. He had to drive a long way back to the hotel. At the hotel we had to lift our luggage out of the cab, the driver did not help. Then he got a little angry that I did not pay cash and at the end he asked if there was no tip. What a miss behaviour for bad services. I am sure that the driver made a longer trip than necessary. When we were at the hotel we noticed that we had forgotten something in the RV so we had to go back. The cab that was called was from another company. He drove a shorter way (in time and distance) and the price was also much lower.This is the reason that I am sure that I paid too much. When we asked the company by mail for an answer.
