I stopped by a few days ago to check out their new store. It's significantly bigger than Nana's Attic, which means it feels far less cramped. Yay! Still very good prices, the "yellow tag" items are consignment and generally higher priced than the store's donated stock. It about killed my soul to see an awesome vintage salt & pepper mixed in with newer dishes in a consignment lot. Aaah! Staff are great, the store is clean and bright. I'll definitely be back. Note: angled parking in front of the building is NOT free, Pontiac is a public street, and those are pay at kiosk metered spots.

What we've…read moregotten over the last 10 years has been mostly Halloween and Christmas decorations and sweaters for ugly sweater party's. I've mostly been a donator who always picks this location to bring my stuff because it's The closest Goodwill to a small city that is economically disadvantaged. The people of said city need only take a short bus ride to shop at this Goodwill that has many high quality clothing items because of its proximity to Swarthmore. The donation area is out back at a garage door and is usually staffed by one or two people.If donating try avoid a Saturday because it's a madhouse.Your best bet is to get here before 3 o'clock on a weekday because it gets busy there after.

See a need...fill a need. Narberth Community Food Bank was started ten years ago by volunteers who…read moresaw a need for a food pantry in an area that didn't seem to need one, except it does. People think of the Main Line as exclusively wealthy, and it isn't. There is poverty, it is more well hidden, though. They provide food for those who need it, personal care items, often clothing. They've provided literacy programs, computer literacy and reading. They will help people apply for benefits, and they actively work with other agencies to find housing, help with utilities, education, social supports and more. They're located in the former Narberth School building, on the second floor. There's a good sized parking lot and some on-street parking, and thanks to ramps they are fully handicapped accessible. The location is within a block of the 44 Bus stop and they are about 5 blocks from the Narberth Train Station. They accept donations of food and personal care items. Note that when they are closed they have bins outside their door for non-perishable donations, and for perishable items they will make arrangements to accept your donation if you need to come at another time. It's a great organization that serves the community well. I am happy they are there, and glad to support them.

So many local families needing fresh, canned & packaged food and personal products. Eventually I drove with a partner to make deliveries until the morning I packed my trunk with 8/15 pd. bags and whoops! took several weeks to recover (perhaps @85 years old it was time to hand this over to another volunteer!) The comradery of other volunteers stays with you as well as knowing you are soooo important to this community.

While it had the typical Goodwill set up I found their sorting, organization, and display process poor. The larger pieces and housewares weren't as plentiful as other locations, and many items were so beyond help that it was a shame to waste space putting them on the sales floor. Furniture was downright nasty for the most part and overpriced. Staff wore masks as their chin and dodged customers like they couldn't be bothered. As a reseller I rarely leave empty handed, but here that was indeed the case.

This is the largest Salvation Army store and donation center within the Philly proper, and since its within three blocks of my girlfriend's house, I randomly find myself within here a lot so I can boost my thrifty pants style. Since its within the Roxborough/Manayunk area you do tend to find a lot of good products at bargain prices. I've scored everything from vintage Calvin Klein jeans and collegiate pajamas to American Eagle sweaters and Star Wars merch all between $3-12. With the frequency that they get and restock inventory, it definitely gives you good reason to visit regularly, and you run into a ton of colorful regulars who do just that.

That being said the children's section is not a bad size, but totally not organized. The sizes & gender is not at all separated so everything is everywhere. If you want something you will be on a search. The women's section is HUGE but could also be tweaked. Like jeans, active wear & dress pants separated. The mens section is a good size.
