Bar from the back right corner.

Green Man is a fantastic place with great employees and a warm environment. They don't have a ton of beer on tap, but notably have Stella, Bombardier, Crossbow, Foster, Guinness, and a few others I can't remember. As a foreigner with a bunch of American friends with me, they were extremely friendly and understood any confusions we had. We were a party of 9 which they didn't necessarily have space for, but we pulled some chairs up to a long table and it ended up working out comfortably. Paying at the bar was an organized system and made it so that our table never had any confusion about who was paying for what or anything like that. We stayed for a long time and never felt any pressure from the staff to leave. It was a tame, classy bar experience that wasn't loud and just felt comfortable. They've gotta fix the bathroom stalls whose latches are both broken. Otherwise this place is the perfect bar.

I walked around London today for several hours trying to get an idea of the average cost of eating out. I am always on a tight budget so I need to be Froogle at all costs. After much searching I found this restaurant / pub that had good prices and looked nice from the outside. The inside was as nice as I expected. The restaurant has a very warm feeling and a comforting atmosphere. I had to ask someone about seating and ordering. A very nice waitress Martyna let me know the establishment is seat yourself style. Also I was told to decide what I wanted and then to order at the bar; as there is no actual table service. I decided on a Pulled pork Sandwich on some brown bread and also order a vodka pineapple. My food was delivered to my table. The food was plated fairly well for a pub and tasted great. This place is a definite find for the weary traveler. Great atmosphere, clean restaurant, super friendly staff (Martyna), good food, and good prices. I am only sorry that I am only in London for a couple of weeks so coming back would waste my adventure of trying more new places. That said if I was in town longer I probably would plan to me back here many times. Happy eting Yelpers!

Very big and busy pub but then it was post work and pre football time of evening. Good selection of beers, a few real ales and plenty of seating. A typical after work feel to it

Toilet. This place is a dump.

Came in to watch a game and have dinner. Dropped about £50 on drinks and dinner for the mrs and watch the Man U game. Got kicked out in the 80th minute for somebody with a "reservation". Uhhhh horrible service. This is a crap pub. Go elsewhere.

Basic pub. Beer was mediocre. Coffee was okay. Service was mediocre. Prices weren't bad.

The food was great. Nice atmosphere as well. Quite expensive though but that is the norm in London.

We went to more than a dozen pubs while in London and the surrounding area on vacation recently so…read morewhile reviewing them, I'm trying to focus on what made each a distinct memory/experience for us. My wife actually booked dinner reservations in advance for Ye Old Cheshire Cheese, it was one of a few we did that for rather than just popping in. For some of these, Cheshire included, it isn't a bad idea if you want a full meal to do so as it gives you a table in a dining area that is quieter than the More raucous areas of the pub and guarantees you plenty of elbow room to dine. Every pub has fish and chips, and we had our share of it during our 8+ day trek, but my wife swears by this place as having the absolute best. I'd likely agree with that--we both had the traditional fish, chips, peas platter and every bite was great. We had a few slices of sourdough to hold us over while waiting for those plates. My wife had a bit of wine, and I tried a lager, lower ABV ale, and a pour of scotch opting for their "house" scotch. The spirits/beer menu was the same I saw used at a couple of what I think must be "sister" pubs all using the same distilleries and brewers. We were too full to try dessert. Service was friendly. Not sure if it was the vintage of my scotch or her wine, but price-wise this was by far our priciest pub visit in the area and I can't quite point my fingers at why, but I don't regret our meal and time here. As for historic interest, you can find pictures and placards of many of the pubs famous patrons from history--Dickens, Mark Twain on visits to London, etc. A first edition of a Dickens' book adorned a post by our table.

Cool pub dating back to 1300s?…read more Fish and chips were great. Price was okay given its a popular and historic spot. Beer was excellent and prices reasonable Only complaint was the dining area was extremely quiet on a Friday afternoon. A little strange for a pub

The history alone makes it worth visiting, and the location is perfect if you're exploring the area. It feels very classic London in the best way. We stopped in for a pint and honestly... the whole after-work beer culture over there is something I really need to bring back with me to the States. The beer was great, the atmosphere was lively without feeling overwhelming, and it just felt like one of those places where people naturally gather and stay awhile. Definitely worth stopping into if you're in the area.

Two story space - the ground floor feature the bar and handles walk in lunch; the upstairs is a dining room for those with reservations. Fun fact, as part of the history, the pub used to be the host of bare knuckle fights and had regulars like Charles Dickens. Wildfarmed sourdough - served with whipped salted butter and Guinness butter. Well toasted bread and the butters with salt were well made. Fuller's London Pride marinated steak and ale pie - served with seasonal veggies and red wine gravy, as well as either mash potatoes or triple cooked chips. If there is one dish London does really well, it's their pies. It was beautifully made and loaded with steak. The red wine gravy was decadent and added a perfect amount of moisture to the pie. Triple cooked chips were perfectly crispy but fluffy on the inside. Corn fed chicken breast - served with garlic and sage butter, mash potato, cavolo nero, and crispy onions. Only took a bite of this as it was my partner's dish but the bite of chicken I had was very juicy and well seasoned.
