After 4 miles of walking around London, this place was the perfect spot to relax and dine on some classics! The fish and chips were excellent! Salty, crunchy, flaky, and flavorful! My wife and I split the dish, and we had more than enough to get our fill. The sticky toffee pudding was incredible. Sweet but not too sweet and the pudding was so good. I was expecting ice cream, as that is usually what it comes with in the States, but the pudding was fantastic! Such a moist cake and a perfect sweet treat. We came during lunch, and it wasn't too busy. But this pub was across from our hotel, and by 4 pm it was usually packed. We loved it! read more

For a pub that happens to be on the edge of Central London, and also looking as if it is basically one of those chain pubs, it does actually have a pretty good atmosphere. Well, that probably has something to do with the staff being pretty cool, and also with the pub actually not being all that crowded. Oh, and it happens to be just across the road from one of the underground stations, but honestly, that is pretty much what one would expect from a pub in Central London - pubs aren't far from stations, and stations aren't far from pubs. read more

I would make a couple of things understood. First, this pub is owned by Green King, a large conglomerate with hundreds of locations in the UK. It is not a locally owned drinking spot. Secondly, know how things are in the pubs. You first find a table and get it's number. You then go to the bar and order and pay for your food which is brought to the table. These very noisy places are not where you come for a relaxed dining experience. The menus in the pubs are strikingly similar and feature many standards including scampi (Brit for shrimp) and chips, my meal. It was also served with peas. The shrimp was only comprised of pieces. The peas and chips were about like those found just about anywhere in the UK. Overall, the food offerings here are about the same as found in any pub. As I have indicated, this is a pub experience to be found just about anywhere around London. It's good, but nothing memorable. read more

Green Man is a fantastic place with great employees and a warm environment. They don't have a ton of beer on tap, but notably have Stella, Bombardier, Crossbow, Foster, Guinness, and a few others I can't remember. As a foreigner with a bunch of American friends with me, they were extremely friendly and understood any confusions we had. We were a party of 9 which they didn't necessarily have space for, but we pulled some chairs up to a long table and it ended up working out comfortably. Paying at the bar was an organized system and made it so that our table never had any confusion about who was paying for what or anything like that. We stayed for a long time and never felt any pressure from the staff to leave. It was a tame, classy bar experience that wasn't loud and just felt comfortable. They've gotta fix the bathroom stalls whose latches are both broken. Otherwise this place is the perfect bar. read more

I walked around London today for several hours trying to get an idea of the average cost of eating out. I am always on a tight budget so I need to be Froogle at all costs. After much searching I found this restaurant / pub that had good prices and looked nice from the outside. The inside was as nice as I expected. The restaurant has a very warm feeling and a comforting atmosphere. I had to ask someone about seating and ordering. A very nice waitress Martyna let me know the establishment is seat yourself style. Also I was told to decide what I wanted and then to order at the bar; as there is no actual table service. I decided on a Pulled pork Sandwich on some brown bread and also order a vodka pineapple. My food was delivered to my table. The food was plated fairly well for a pub and tasted great. This place is a definite find for the weary traveler. Great atmosphere, clean restaurant, super friendly staff (Martyna), good food, and good prices. I am only sorry that I am only in London for a couple of weeks so coming back would waste my adventure of trying more new places. So lucky to have stumbled on the Green Man. Love it. Much better than places I frequented during my stay around King's Cross. One big reason Free WiFi. Saved me. I love getting my WiFi at a Pub rather than a Coffee Shop. On top of that I love the open space of the pub, you don't feel confined in a wooden tomb like some pubs. Great feel and atmosphere. Plenty of great seating or room to stand. Pretty good food and prices. You don't need to travel to go there, but if you're in the area definitely stop in. Really nice that it is off of Great Portland stop too. read more

Yay! This pub was close to the hotel we were staying at so we ventured in for some pints. (Plus, if you've ever seen the American show, 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia,' you'll know that Green Man is an important "character"). It's an okay place with decent prices. It's spacious and there's plenty of seating and it's in a convenient location right across from the Euston Street Tube Station. The food didn't look particularly special but the atmosphere was casual and nice and the staff was friendly. No complaints here. read more

Stop #2 - Great Portland Street Just a short walk east from Baker St. and our first stop is The Green Man. It's a quiet, old man's pub, that has a few regulars and also seemed to be the place to finish the previous night (or get an early pint in before a Saturday workday?) given the guys in suits arrayed around looking fairly annoyed at being there. Bar staff is quick to serve but perhaps not a fan for crawlers given the scowls at our half pint order. Still, don't need a smile as long as I get service. Although they may have been upset at our pitiful attempts to perform the running man given it was the penalty for latecomers to the crawl. Overall, I can't imagine why I'd come to Great Portland Street, but if in the area it's a decent simple pub to grab a pint across from the station. And it's open from 10am on a Saturday. Drink of choice: Half pint of Guinness. It's sort of like breakfast. read more

'Meh' is exactly the right place for The Green Man. Lovely Charlotte held her nma social media social here. The room looked cool, but 'cool' was in fact the EXACT OPPOSITE of what it was. After climbing winding staircases upwards, we got to the private room, which was pretty much like a sauna with windows we couldn't open and no bar. It looked great, I'm a big fan of the retro-chic look, but predictably, everyone congregated outside on the street where it was much easier to stand the heat of a very hot day. Drinks are very reasonably priced, but the staff have some serious attitude. It's always tough when you have strict rules to enforce, but with hardly any cars rolling past the place, the rigorous way we were barked at to get off the path was a little much. While the crowd was still upstairs, myself & Charlotte foolishly left bags with people we thought would stay still. When we went back up to find the room empty and our bags gone, we panicked a little. We asked the bar, nothing there, and eventually assumed they'd been nicked. Next thing we know, the manager is out on the street, having a go at us for telling our *friends* that our belongings might have been taken. Were we at fault for leaving them? Yes, totally. Silly thing to do. But was there really the need to get nasty with us? A big shame, as it could be a nice place, but I won't be going back. read more

Big busy pub near the station. Decent for a quick drink or for meeting someone (perhaps in order to return a chair you borrowed off them) but not somewhere I'd go out of my way to come. In just one word? Handy. Serves quite a decent selection of ales despite being a Greene king pub. This pub was right across from my hotel and it was so crowded the night I walked by. I'm so surprised that peepz aren't yelping about this place. It's such a quaint place with good foods and service. We only stopped by for breakfast though. It was just your typical English breaksfast with eggs, sausages, beans and toasts but it was really good. Service was promt and attentive. Conveniently located near Gt Portland St tube, this is a pleasant pub, spacious and has friendly bar staff.

Some of the pubs you will come across are fairly small holes in the wall, not so for the Green Man! With ample seating and a well stocked bar this is a great place for an afternoon pint, or for some greasy grub. The food is excellent and well priced, plus serious portions. read more

After a long day travelling all I wanted was a peaceful place and something to eat. Well, first part failed miserabely. Place was crowded and quite noisy with very loud background music. The food was great. Nice atmosphere as well. Quite expensive though but that is the norm in London.
