    11/25 kouign amann
    Georgia B.

One of the best specialty shops in metro ATL! Finally made time to visit Evergreen Butcher Baker today and it turned out to be a "butter" day for me :-). This Kirkwood bakery butcher is tiny, charming, full of goodies with knowledgeable staff. EBB is an interesting mix of bakery, butcher and market. The retail space is small but is packed with delicious morsels of goodies. ++ Butcher section is higher end beef, lamb, pork and cured meats. However, they carry rather limited cuts, grinds and dry aged beef. Unusually, they offer prepared burgers on Sundays. ++ Bakery is European and American style pastries, breads and cookies. They also have sourdough bagels regularly. It was a mid-afternoon when I visited and bread and pastry selections were thin. I grabbed the last kougin amann and tried their sourdough bagel. It's not common to find an independent bagelry in ATL. + kougin amann was flavorful but was a bit heavy. ++ sourdough bagel was lighter and better than I expected! ++ Market section is imported and domestic specialty foods as well as convenient items for Kirkwood locals. They carry eggs, cold beverages, pasta, Maldon Salt, imported tomatoes, canned fish, old fashioned mugs as well as cultured butters. I picked up a block of Isigny ste mere beurre de baratte (churned butter) which turned:) out to be a fantastic discovery. This churned butter made their sourdough bagel super delicious. ++ Service is prompt, friendly and knowledgeable. + Price is high. $$$ not as Yelp indicates (bagel = $4 each; grain finished ribeye = $36/lb) + Parking is very limited private lot shared with Arden's and street. EBB is worth driving 45 minutes through Atlanta traffic. I already have their vollkornbrot on my list for my next visit. (11/6/25 update) Well, apparently NYT rated EBB as one of the best 22 bakeries in the USA last December. Lol, I'm not arguing. MY RATINGS - - - Inhumane - - Disgusted - Don't bother = Missed the Mark + Good ++ Better +++ EDIBLE...WHERE have you been all my LiFe!

The selection here is fantastic!! Ive been 2 or 3 times and there were new things to try each time. There is a line out the door but thankfully it moves fast. The counter people are super kind and willing to answer questions (but if you ask too many you'll likely have an angry mob behind you!) I'm a bakery addict so ive tried many pastries in many places. This place is up there with the best of the best!

In my opinion, this is the best bakery in Atlanta. From their plain croissant to their specialty baked goods (cherry pistachio financier, chocolate pistachio pinwheel, etc), everything I've had here is phenomenal. And also, their Sunday burger is one of the top 5 burgers I've ever had in my life. I've come around 1:30 PM on 2 Sundays and haven't had a problem getting one. The line can vary (waited 5 min one time and 30 min the other). This is a MUST VISIT spot in ATL. I'll be back (many many more times).

We went one Sunday for the burgers and, my oh my! The best burger I've ever had. This is definitely attributed to the fresh, quality ingredients and homemade everything. We would happily drive down, wait in a line and pay $20 for these burgers again and again. Not to mention the breads and baked goods...I guess there's a reason Jesus called himself the bread of life. It's so cute inside and the open layout lets you see everything involved in the production of their goods. It's a little small, just enough space to look at the pastries in the glass and the tinned fishies on the shelves, and then you're on your way to enjoy your goods. Much love to evergreen butcher + baker

I came on a Sunday to get a burger and didn't end up getting one. The line was long, outside of the door. There was an array of different pastries. I got the monkey bread, the brown butter roll, ham and cheese crossiant, and the sausage egg and cheese sandwhich. The monkey bread was a little dry. The brown butter roll was great, I've never had one before but it was just the right amount of sweet. The ham and cheese crossiant was lacking. I enjoyed the sausage egg and cheese sandwhich, but I thought it was a little heavy.

I didn't not even need to review this place. Everyone before me has done the job already. The pastries are the very best. I grew up in Germany and my mother was Dutch. I ate traditional European fare growing up. I know what great bread is. THIS IS IT. I don't even like croissants. I really don't. These are amazing. The best tasting ones I have ever had. So flaky, so buttery and soooooooo damn good. The country sourdough bread is fantastic. I mean fantastic. I just put butter and some jelly on it. BAM. The best. It takes me right back to being 10 years old and having breakfast in Germany. The cookies are awesome as well. I haven't gotten past the oatmeal raisin ones. They are so good. I can't allow myself to buy another kind because I know how amazing these are. The crumb cake I had for the first time this weekend and it too was really good. Holy cow! I forgot about the granola. It is the best granola anywhere. Anyyyyyyyyyy where. I can not recommend this place more. You must try it.

Wow, wow, WOW! Take one step inside, and you'll be in heaven. HEAVEN, I tell you! It was hard to know where to look first: the stunningly crafted and creative pastries or the beautiful carved, whole-animal meats. The delicious pastry selection was complemented by the patient, warm service we got. We told the gentleman it was our first time there, as he helped us sort through our difficult pastry selections, and he was kind enough to slip an extra Sourdough Baguette into our order as a "Welcome". Too kind. In terms of pasteries, we tried the chocolate croissant, the sausage roll (his self-proclaimed fav), a sourdough bagel, and a Swiss roll. Our fav was the chocolate croissant, but having lived most-recently in France, it's a dagger to the heart to pay $6 for one when we were getting them for $0.95. Now for the gorgeous meats. Again, we could have looked at the meats forever. They were beautiful cuts. We indulged in a Ribeye, which we prepared that day. It was delish as expected, though we paid for it! ($40/lb) I think). Perhaps most exciting, which we didn't have the chance to take advantage of that day is that apparently they have a daily sandwich they sell!! YUMM. The day we were there it was Chicken Salad Sandwich.

Evergreen is always packed!!! Came in at 8am and managed to join the queue. Everything is freshly baked using the best ingredients. My friend is gluten-free and their flour is so great it doesn't upset her! I got the sesame cookie and it was so crisp and soft on the inside. The sesame gave it some umami. But the pastries are perfectly flakey and all of them are so good. The staff is always in an amazing mood and are so kind (even helped me pick some new favorites)

I made the rookie mistake of visiting Evergreen Butcher + Baker on a Sunday (totally forgot it was Burger Day!) and ended up waiting in line in the cold for about 35 minutes. But honestly? Worth it. Their sausage, egg, and cheese biscuit was hands-down one of the best I've ever had--flaky, flavorful, and just perfect. And the chocolate croissant? Pretty great, too. I might brave the Sunday line again just for those pastries. Evergreen has officially earned a spot as my new favorite in Kirkwood. Pro tip: bundle up if you're visiting on a weekend this winter, or get there early to beat the rush!

Have been following this bakery for months and thinking I need to try that burger. Mother's Day was finally the day. There was no wait, but most of the pastries were gone already at 1:15pm. I picked up 2 burgers and some chocolate sable cookies. Both were fantastic! Is this the best burger I've ever had? No. But it is a solid burger. I def will be back to try more pastries and pick up more of the chocolate sable cookies, but I won't be standing in line for hours for the burger.

So let me start out by saying the only reason I went there was for Burger day LOL. I'm sure it's a really good spot for the bakery or The butcher shop, but my mission was to get one of these burgers at only happened a few hours a day, and only on one day a week. So around there there is a small parking lot, but you do have options of street parking. It's free so don't worry about that part. But parking can be limited. The shop is very small, there's really no place to have a seat, you're basically going to be in and out while you're picking things up. So just keep that in mind! Once you get in. Everybody is super nice and super friendly, and they have really good customer service. Burger day! It happens on Sundays and it starts at 1:00 p.m.. depending on the weather and the time of the year, people will start waiting in line around 11:00 or 11:30 in the morning to get to the burger. Because they only have so many burgers to give. I think they make a couple hundred of burgers so you have to be in line early enough so that it doesn't sell out. Which again, it's only for a couple of hours or until they sell out so it's worth it. I actually got there at like 11:00 and there was nobody in line. Which was totally fine because there's a small little neighborhood there that you can walk around and maybe grab a drink or two, so that's what happened. At about 12:30, we looked out the window and saw the line was started to form so we headed across the street for a half hour. It wasn't that bad, when we got there. It was only about maybe 20 people in line or so give or take, but as we move through the line the line kept getting longer. People know about this and they have no problem waiting! Got up to the counter, ordered some burgers, moved through the line and paid for it. It was pretty much a stress-free transition. I happen to go during my birthday month and they gave me a free cookie, and a cookie was actually pretty good too LOL so again, a not to customer service. Now the burger, this burger hitting on all cylinders! It went so hard, even though it was basic. It was very well done. You had the onions that were diced, you had cheese and you had pickles and you had a very very good burger patty that was seasoned. On the sesame seed bun! Now it said bakery in a butcher shop so their meat and their bread should be fire, and that stuck true! Actually I got two burgers. One of them I got an eight. Maybe like 20 minutes later. I was parking the car so I thought I'd take a bite and then I didn't stop eating LOL! Now to tell you about how good the burger was, the other one I had. I threw in the refrigerator. The next day I busted it down and reheated it, and the reheated Burger tasted damn good too! Now it wasn't better than the burger straight out of the butcher shop. But you know how it is, When the food reheats well you know it's solid! If you are in the Kenwood area and can stop in around noon, I would definitely suggest.

This place continues to amaze me. I love this little Kirkwood based mom and pop bakery and butcher. I've had just about everything from here and each item is better than the next. The steaks were amazing as well. But the pastries... the pasties have me in a full on chokehold. The place is a total vibe when it comes to ambiance and the service is so good. Everything is so kind. Love love love this place.

Summer seasonal Danish with peaches & pumpkin seeds

This review is long overdue! I absolutely love Evergreen. One of the employees has taken the time to get to know my husband and I. He knows at least one of the items we're going to choose each time, and it's just nice to have a local spot where everyone is so friendly and welcoming. Evergreen is a cute, quaint place with the best pastries and meats! We also love the small market goods. This is where we tend to purchase our Maldon salts and have had our eyes on a few other things as well. We stop by here at least a few times a month for ourselves and more when we have guests coming over. Everything we've had is delicious, and we've tried quite a bit. I especially loved one of the seasonal summer danishes that had peaches and pumpkin seeds as well as the summer squash danish. We always grab some of the smoked turkey. We love that there are some staple baked goods as well as seasonal offerings. Definitely a must to check out for yourself!

They not only have incredible fresh cuts of meats & fresh seafood but they have the best prepared meals. Chicken Parmesan is my favorite- so far. Lol. Everything is freshly made from scratch and packed up ready for your fridge or freezer. They have single portions & family size portions. Everything is excellent. They also have a vary nice wine selection, fresh seasonal veggies, & fresh breads. I tried the Mexican cornbread the other day and craved it ever since. Don't forget the Caesar salad/ dressing. So, if you love to eat great food and thinking about nice butcher cut, fresh seafood, or heating up the fruits of their labor- you can't go wrong. One other thing I noticed- groceries are really expensive and sometimes getting home to discover you only have ingredients makes it hard to budget. I found that these great meals helped me trim a dollars off stocking the fridge.
