The last time I played the course was in 1982, so it was 41 years ago. It's a private club so your expectations are high. Lot's of ups and downs with elevated tee boxes and and greens. Overall the course was in great condition, all the fairways were green and well mowed, tee boxes in great shape and the greens were well trimmed and rolling true. It was a Chamber of Commerce day with perfect weather! There were a couple of things I thought were odd. None of the holes were marked. No yardage distances from any of the tees. Normally it wouldn't even be a deal but there were 91 golfers, all in 4 somes and we all started on different holes. There are various turns over neighborhood roads so it got a bit confusing. The other thing was the driving range, it was all matt's. Who likes to hit off matt's especially warming up for a tournament and especially driver?

Since then an independent management group has taken over. I met some friends for a 'tune-up' round in preparation for a charity tournament we're playing in. I called a week ahead to make the tee time and asked about their practice facilities. I was told they have a driving range, practice putting and chipping area. I drove from Fort Mill and got there an hourly early only to learn the range was shut down for 'over seeding'. There is no practice chipping area only a putting green. As I was entering the Pro Shop, I saw a sign that said 'Snack Bar'. Once I checked-in and got my cart key, I asked what time did the Snack Bar open. the lady said "oh, we don't have a snack bar". My response was " you got a snack bar sign, but no snack bar". She just stared at me. This course is ragged. I don't like the lay out, too many blind shots and poor sight lines. The greens and tee boxes were OK but the fairways were in bad shape and if you are out of bounds, you will lose your ball or be heavily penalized. There are creeks that criss cross the course with power lines above as well. There are some ponds but none that create difficulties for your shot. I was going to play 18 but after 9 holes, our group decided to stop play. The lady in our group was disappointed there were NO Red or forward tees, the gold or Senior tees are the most forward tees, sorry ladies, the City of Gastonia will receive your comments. The electric carts were in good condition and the ProShop was small with not very much gear for sale. They do sell beer and they have soda and snack food vending machines. I doubt I will return, just way too many other good options near where I live.

Grounds crew is awesome. Troon took over service contract for the county in 2024 and improvements are awesome. They continue to work on the driving range and short game practice field but by Fall this place will shine. It's July and in this heat the tee boxes, fairways and greens are super green. Even the pro shop has received updates. Weekends are busy as expected but Why would you play anywhere else? Excellent value for the money.

Walking to play, the floors were sticky from drink spills. In theory, having bars on the courses is a great idea, but in practice it slows everything down. If the group ahead of you doesn't enter their score, the game stalls unless someone from the next group inputs it or a staff member comes over. We had to figure that out on our own. On my previous visits the staff explained how the scoring worked, but that didn't happen this time. Three groups ahead of mine didn't know how to enter their scores or forgot, so they just stopped playing. I also think the reservations could be spaced out better. Groups ended up stacked on top of each other waiting for the same hole. Thankfully, everyone was still pleasant about it. I'd definitely go back, but I hope they make a few operational improvements.

I went to Mountain View Driving Range for my friend's birthday, and honestly, I wasn't expecting…read moremuch. After all, it's just a driving range, right? But this place surprised me! It's much larger than I imagined, with about 6 covered bays (with a heating option for wintertime) and over 10 open bays about 50 feet away, all overlooking a spacious, well-maintained range. They have Toptracer Range technology, which uses advanced ball tracking with high-speed cameras and sophisticated software. It's not just about hitting the balls. You can play interactive games, track your stats, and make it competitive. The games were a blast, and the staff was super friendly. The best part was the value. We got a large basket of 110 balls for just $16. That's over 50 balls per person and we played for well over an hour. Afterward, we discovered a small putting area on the side and spent another 30 minutes working on our mini-golf skills (and laughing a lot). I also noticed they offer lessons, sell drinks and snacks, and in the fall they transform part of the range into the Hickory Grove Haunted Trail. Overall, it was a really fun experience: easy games, great price, and friendly staff and patrons.

It's been six years since my last review and time for an update…read more My buddy/co-worker S Fulwider is always giving me grief about not being spontaneous. Today, I called him at 10a and told him we had a 1p tee time and he was ready to say 'yes' after he cleared the deck of the 'honey do list'. The traffic was thick North on I-77 from Fort Mill but no grid lock so we made it in 20minutes and still had time to hit a bucket of balls. Jay is 'still' there, he's a fixture at this place and has been for at least the last 6 years since I retired and started playing there. They are no longer under Radcliffe Management but under Troon. Their 'on-line' booking website is excellent. IF you're playing solo, you're REQUIRED to call and book. We made the 9 hole round in 1 hr, 45 minutes and it was busy. We had a slow three some walking in front of us. It's hard to beat the price on this muni when you can get a Senior AND Vet discount and play for less than $30 bucks. Fulwider was pleased with the experience except on hole #9, the finishing par 5, he swears a blacksnake ate his ball. Always a nice change of pace but at prime time, Friday to Sun you will be challenged to get a time time and pace of play.

Saw a few swing flaws/fixes and gave me a couple of shoulder, torso stretches so I'm using those muscles and legs instead of an all arms swing. So helpful and highly recommend.
