After about 2 years away, time for an update. I go here frequently for the driving range. It's open more often than Fort Mill Golf Club just 4 miles away. Today I played the front nine with a 130p tee time, it was 87 degrees and 60% humidity so it was not ideal weather but not unbearable for just 9 holes. Even though Hurricane Debby had blown through four days before dropping 4 inches of rain in Fort Mill, it had dried quickly and conditions were good. It was cart path only on the #5 hole. Built in 2001 and designed by Clyde Johnston, this is the most updated and modern of all the 4 Leroy Springs courses. It's a challenging course which will test your mid-iron game requiring strategic strategy off the tee and approach shots. They have GPS on all the electric carts, a nice large driving range where you can hit off grass and mats as well as a designated chipping area with a small bunker and a large putting green. Really nice ProShop for all the golf gear including mens & women's clothes, shoes, gloves, hat's, belts, towels and a wide selection of golf ball brands. Nice snack bar at the turn with good menu options and a large dining room. You can also use an App called 'birdie' to advance order from the snack bar. The only downsides are the lack of water coolers along the holes and there is only one bathroom on the front nine. Hole #5 is perpetual cart path only. There is no beverage cart, even at the height of the hottest summer days. Many green side bunkers creating side hill & uneven lies. read more

Great course and practice facilities. Greens are fast and true and course was in pristine condition. Forests frame the course, so if you are not controlling your shots, it is a very tough round. Staff is helpful and fees are very reasonable for a course this good. read more

Was on a golf trip here a couple of weekends ago. The course absolutely kicked my butt, but I have to say that this is one of the more beautiful courses I've played. The fairways are well maintained, the greens are immaculate. Beautiful scenery at every turn. If you're in the Charlotte area, I would highly recommend booking a round here. read more

Wow what a joke ! This place is one of the most expensive courses in the area yet it doesn't show ! First off we had a 12:40 tee time arrive at 11:45 just to find out there's a hour frost delay ! They could have emailed or called to let us know . So after waiting forever we find out it's cart path only ... it hasn't rained in over a week and the course is super dry ! The greens were horrible like they haven't been cut in forever! After a 5 1/2 hour round get off the course go to use the restroom and grab a beer and the clubhouse is locked up ! WTF ! There are much better, nicer courses in the area like Tega Cay or Edgewater! Don't waste your money or time here ! read more

This is probably on of the best public courses in And around the Charlotte area. Played the course this week. Very good condition. Very tough challenge for the average golfer, but very fair. The carts are a necessity if you are older and not in good shape. Would not recommend the walk. The greens are very tough and not a flat putt on the course. If I had one complaint the greens are s little fast for the average golfer. In other words, they are 3 putt greens. Facilities are in excellent shape and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Thanks to the staff and the Spring family for bringing back a classic in Charlotte. After a 2M rebuilding of the course's neglected areas, the course is BACK to it's usually hard and demanding shot making forcing a player to think, execute, and test their skills for the entire round. Challenge yourself and your abilities and schedule a round here, it will expose the weakness in your game quickly and force you to make adjustments; all the while having a great time. The staff is kind and always courteous and if you need instruction, the Pro, Aaron, is always around to offer some advice... Golf carts.... i almost didn't want to get out of the seat... super plush and with 2 HDMI slots, we didn't miss a thing for 4 hours and had charged batteries at the end. read more

The price was right for a course that is in pretty bad shape. The fairways and greens have plenty of winter kill. Making it difficult to give this place a higher rating. All of the staff are friendly and terrific. It just needs water, rain and time to bring this course back into decent conditions. read more

This is an amazing golf value. Let's start with the clubhouse, driving range and staff. The staff is very friendly and they go out of their way to make sure that everything runs as smoothly as possible. Check-in was quick and efficient. We teed off at our exact starting time on a busy Saturday. Pace of play was just over four hours. That's a huge positive. They had a ranger on each nine. The starter and rangers did a great job today. The staff gets AAA+++. I loved the putting green and driving range. The putting green is right near the first tee, which is great. The driving range is all grass teeing areas. The clubhouse is nice. There's pro shop and snack bar and everything was neat and clean. The Head Professional could not have been nicer or more accommodating. He thanked us for coming out to play and also offered useful advise about how to play some of the tougher holes. Now for the golf course. I loved this track. It is very demanding and you better choose the right set a tees. I'm not kidding when I said there's not a week hole out here. For me, holes 5, 7, 8 and 9, were the toughest. The front nine was definitely more challenging, but there were a lot of great holes on the back nine too. This is a very fun golf course. It's tough but it is fair. The greens were great. In fact, I was thrilled with the overall condition. A few of the tees are in rough shape, but it seemed that problem was isolated to areas that receive inadequate sunlight. I am very much looking forward to my next round at this facility. From the staff to the hot dog it was a great experience!! It had rained the night before and the course was in very good condition. Course is decent but there are many more courses in the area that are better for relatively the same amount of money. Greens were very slow. The experience at the turn was pretty bad. We went in to buy a hotdog for 3 of us and apparently the internet was down so they only accepted cash. We had $5 between 3 of us and she would only give us 1 hotdog. Terrible customer service. The cost for a hotdog is most likely less than $1 and she would not give patrons a break because of an issue they were having. I'll continue playing my main course at Ballantine. Much better course and the staff understand how to treat their patrons. read more

The more I think about it the more I realize that this course deserves 5-stars. The clubhouse is nice and clean, the staff is friendly, the practice area is large and in good shape and the course is nicely designed and fun to play. Not once did I stop during the round and think to myself, "this is a dumb hole." Everything is laid out well and in good condition. I will be back for sure!! read more

I have never lost so many golf balls on a golf course. The amount of golf balls I lost was worth more than my car. By the second hole I was praying for no more trees, but I was very wrong. After a couple of shanks I decided to retire my golf clubs indefinitely. read more

I have played golf all over the country and paid from $12 to $350 (on the company :-)) per 18 holes and as a low handicap country club player I don't think there is a better deal in the Charlotte Metro area. As a public golf course with million dollar homes on it and a clubhouse and staff that reminds you of a country club experience it is fantastic! Greens are great (Mini Verde) and the course is very challenging from the tips (and blue tees are great as well). The course views on almost every hole are beautiful and you really don't see many homes because of all the trees. Good practice facilities and great clubhouse. I play this course even though I belong to a club in south Charlotte. Thanks to Bud and staff for treating everyone so well. read more

I recently played (winter golf) at Springfield Golf Club. The Bermuda fairways are still brown and dormant, however, the greens are excellent. As good or better than any of the top tier golf courses I recently played in Florida. I was totally impressed with the entire experience from check in till I returned my golf cart at the end of my round. My compliments to the Course Superintendent and their team! Mediocre golf experience at best. Went out at 7:42 as a twosome and had to wait behind 4 employees who could not keep up with the pace of a normal golf course. Accidentally hit a shot near them and they could not have been more rude. However that doesn't surprise me considering the entire staff acted in a similar behavior. Course is not worth dealing with the negative atmosphere caused by the staff. Would not play here again as there are much better courses in the Charlotte area read more

Played while the greens were sandy but still enjoyed it. Pace of play was perfect, ranger made sure of that. Course is nice for $46 on golfnow. I would play again for sure. Pretty open with fair greens. Good for a weekend golfer, free water and ice at clubhouse, helps fight 93 degree death days. read more
