Unfortunately, the course is in very poor condition. The mats look multiple years old, and the greens are rarely maintained. This spot has potential, but unless it's properly cared for, it's not worth visiting if you're looking for quality short game practice. I'd suggest finding a nearby course with a real chipping green. This place is awesome. Friendly staff and affordable prices. Great for anyone looking to work on their short game - new or old. About half the holes involve water hazards so bring balls you don't mind losing a few of. I've become a much better golfer playing here after just a few months. A childhood favorite of mine. The greens here may not be pristine 24/7 365, the staff here is polite and kind, and the holes offer a unique challenge. A great place to practice with a pitch and putt bag, have a beer or two with friends, or even enjoy the mini golf course. read more

DO NOT COME HERE AS A NEW GOLFER. You will spend $40+ on balls. It's fun when you're playing well, but there is literally a 0% chance of coming home with the sleeve you started with. Not only are there island greens that are bumpy and faster than a coked up cheetah when they're dry, the place is next to a river and has a half dozen water features. All the water is bordered by steep edges, so if your ball is close, it's going to the bottom of the pond. On top of that, because it rains all year long in Charlotte, you have a 1 in 3 chance that the grass is growing straight out of a few inches of sticky mud. It's okay, you're playing off mats, right? WRONG. There are two kinds of mats: hard and water-logged. There is no in-between. I've had fun here, but the place is in severe disrepair and seems perpetually in non-ideal condition. It will make you hate the game. Finally, and this is nit-picky, but for a place that borders an apartment complex full of dogs walking on the cart paths for the golf course, they told me that they are NOT dog friendly and will check paperwork for "service" animals. This would be a place I try out so much more frequently if I was allowed to walk my dog while playing. Basically, if you think this is a fun, west-coast-style par 3 course, you're wrong. It's a cheap, tormenting, super-short 18-holer in constant disrepair. It makes me want to start my own and create a really fun place to learn short game, rather than a place to dunk sleeves of balls in the water. If you are a master of 60-90 yard shots, you may enjoy hitting the greens, but not putting on them. read more

You can play 18 holes on this par 3 for $15 bucks, it's $1 extra to rent a cart. The course is short and a lot of water. You play off of mats for a tee, there is no natural grass tee box option. The fairways and greens are in good shape considering the intense heat. The back nine runs along a deep ravine and a creek below so you'll be challenged by water on the front nine and by the creek on the back nine. Overall it's a fun course, reasonably priced and challenging. Plenty of free parking and there is also a putt-putt course on site. No Vet & or Senior discount. read more

Take A long lunch! What to expect: There are no reservations or tee times as it is treated more like a round of mini-golf. There are a few carts for rent which will double your fee from $9 to $16. I have always rented a cart (Big spender I know) because I like somewhere to put my Drinks, food, phone, keys, etc. But the course would be an easy walk also. Beginning a round: You will chip off of an Astro-turf box that is set up for the left and right handed golfer. If played as it's designed, you would chip onto the green from the Astro turf box and then practice your two-putt. Time commitment: 2 average golfers can play this course in just over 2 hours. So take a longer lunch and bring your sandwich with you! Bring more balls: You'll be challenged on many of these holes as there are beautiful water hazards throughout. Along the back 9 you'll follow a river on the left side that forces you to stay straight. Beautiful area, quietly tucked away between an apartment complex and river. Fore! Don't duck and dive, watch your step more rather! There's goose poop everywhere! The greens might be messy, and you might tee off a mat, but dang this is a fun course. Yes all of the holes are par 3 and an average of 80 yards, but with a course this tight and with so many water hazards; your short game is surely tested. You know hole 17 at TPC Sawgrass, yep it's like that. A few of these holes are island greens and really test your skill. I have been going to butches for almost three years now, and I thought I would share my experience with the world. The first 5 or 10 times you go you will almost certainly lose at least 3 or 4 balls, due to the tricky distances that range from 54-94 yards.The main cause of this is the water hazards which are home to extravagant wildlife such as the ominous Emydidae who's judgemental eyes you will find locked with yours on occasion, the intense exchanges are just one of the many delights of the Paradise Valley Golf Course. I visited this course the other day with a friend who visited from out of state. He wanted to play a par 3 to work in his short game. I read the reviews prior to see if it was worth it. I'm glad I went because this is a great little course. The course is pretty well maintained. It is very challenging with the water holes on the front 9. It's great for something short and quick. My friend and I were impressed by it. I mean you can't beat it $9 for 18 holes. They also have golf carts available. This has lots of wildlife which is a pleasure to see especially being used to uptown city living. There were turtles in the ponds, some geese near the water, a bunny rabbit. The wildlife don't bother you at all. And for the person who complained about goose poop. It's barely around you and not where you are golfing. Let's be honest the only clubs you will need are PW, SW , a 9 if that and a putter. They also have a miniature golf course which looked nice as well. Inside they have food along with entertaining for birthday party's etc for kids. Along with about 15 old school arcade games like pac man, frogger, donkey kong etc. That was fun for nostalgia and play a few games at the end of our round of golf. Paradise Valley used to be this cheesy golf course on 29 right by the UNCC campus. I didnt know how bad it was at the time as I was just taking up golf. The holes were short, the conditions were horrible, but the green fees were ten bucks. So my roommate and I played a lot of rounds here. The last time I was in Charlotte we drove by there and lo and behold there are tons of condos where the first few holes were. Turns out they still have a nine hole par three course situated among these nice condos with lakes and ponds. Its a very attractive course and community. Way to go Paradise Valley. I'll start out with the good. The course has plenty of water for those of you looking to work on your accuracy. It is also a pretty good looking course with plenty of trees and wildlife. Probably the biggest perk is that it is right next door to the Flying Saucer. Now for the bad. Any golf course with turf at each tee box doesn't deserve more than 2 stars. The greens are also in fairly bad shape. It's not a course that's going to get you a lot of street credit on the gold circuit! Yes, there is goose poop everywhere. Yes, you're hitting off mats (some of which need to be replaced). Yes, the greens are a little rough. But for the price paid this course is a HUGE value.
