What a great apple orchard and fruit stand. I scored some red raspberry jam made with just berries and cane sugar like my grandmother and mother used to make. The blueberry's were past but the bushes looked great! What was perfect on a colder fall day was a warm apple cider donuts..probably one of the best I have ever had ...and some cold apple cider. How can it be that I've never reviewed Green Mountain Orchards on Yelp? This is the best place for pick-your-own. Beautiful fruit, beautifully maintained property. Well organized, easy to get in/out, minimal need for walking, and very little mud on one's feet. We pick blueberries each summer, multiple times per season. We have picked peaches in summer 1-2 times, and have picked apples in the fall a few times. Each time it's a great experience. The apple picking gets crowded, but never crazy. We've never had an experience where we were sent to pick in a section that had been picked over and had little fruit. Each time it's a great experience, both for adults and children. Well organized traffic, parking, checkout, bags/buckets. I can't recall a time I felt like things were crazy or disorganized. Prices are fair. The big bonus of course are the treats that they bake up: apple cider doughnuts, pastries, everything I've ever had has been amazing. Makes me want to move in and work there, it's just so wonderful. I visited Vermont and stopped here on my drive! It did not disappoint! By far, the best apple cider donuts I've ever tasted. We bought multiple types of apples and they were juicy, some tart, some sweet, and crisp! All of their bakery items were delicious. Also, they had a family friendly dog who greets you! read more

This is hands down the best orchard/farm I have ever been to. I arrived around 9am on a Saturday where I was greeted by Laura. She was very friendly and showed me a map of their farm so I understood how to get around when picking Apples. It was the second weekend of September, so their Apple selection consisted of Macintosh, Gala, and Honey Crisp. All of my favorites! They also had raspberries and blueberries ripe for picking. If you go, I demand that you get at least one Apple Cider Donut too. I'm not even crazy about donuts but these were out of this world! There were other freshly baked goods (apple pie, blueberry crumble, scones, muffins), ciders and cheeses that all looked delicious. I think it's pretty hard to go wrong here! read more

As if I needed any more proof that I am a city boy at heart, this orchard provided it. In the time it took my lady to pick a pound of blueberries, I was only able to pick about a third of her haul. A third might be generous, in fact, since the employees of the orchard called my .70 cents of blueberries "adorable" as they rung them up. Still, my embarrassment at not coming close to the $2.25 they charged a pound on their second day of the blueberry season aside, I had a good time here. This orchard is definitely not the kind that I remember from my childhood in Michigan, but that's a good thing. All of the patches are accessible via a short drive (or walk if you're not lazy) so there's no hay ride necessary - a great thing for us allergy sufferers. And the patches are nice rows, with the mature sets marked with ribbons, with a lot of berries for everyone. Though there seem to be a lot of "professionals" who were able to fill huge milk jugs full of delicious berries. My only objection to this place is actually the farm store for those who don't want to pick their own fruits. It's rather small with just a cooler and a table. It is cool that they have a lot of old farm equipment to view though. Still, I would have loved some cider and donuts (even if it is the off season for apples) and there were none. But they did have awesome looking blueberry muffins that I maybe should have bought. Because, goodness knows, I didn't pick enough blueberries on my own to make one. read more

When in Veemont one must visit one of it's many pick your own farms. The peaches hete were amazing. Some were huge and all if tbe trees were just hanging with fruit. It was like being let loose in a candy store! These were the juiciest peaches I've ever had. There were ample blueberries also during labor day weekend. Green Mountain Orchards is a lovely, lovely pick-your-own orchard. Apple picking at this gorgeous farm was peaceful and renewing - the epitome of New England fall. We hardly ran into other visitors amongst the vast rows of apple trees, brimming with apples, even on a weekend afternoon. Green Mountain is refreshingly free from admission fees, hay rides, crowds of screaming children, general farm carnival madness that I've found instantly headache-inducing at other orchards. The day I went, there were five varieties ready for picking - gala, macoun, macintosh, honeycrisp, and courtland. The staff was incredibly helpful in pointing us to the different varieties of apples, yet they were never overbearing, and I never felt like I was being watched. I didn't even feel like I had to hide the just-picked apple I munched on while wandering around. In addition to apples, their PYO crops include berries, peaches, pears, and pumpkins. They also have unpasterized apple cider, cider donuts, and other goodies in their farmstand - yum! I reallllly want to come back and use their hand-press to make my own cider, which we were told they allow people to do it if you ask (but they don't actively advertise it). My only gripe is that they aren't an organic farm, but they clearly explain their Integrated Pest Management practices, which minimize their use of pesticides. Overall, a definite kitsch-free pick-your-own gem! read more

We went 30 minutes out of our way just for a donut and apple cider and I was SO glad we did! Unbelievable orchard with friendly staff. Lots if seasonal fun for all with horse buggy rides, nice waking paths, and amazing apples to pick!! We like the cheese selections and baked items especially the CIDER donuts! Wow! They offer more varieties of apples to pick than most in the area, but you gotta get there early! I love pick your own places and this is my favorite. It is huge, beautiful and never crowded. You can walk for a long time and never bump into anyone. The apple varieties are abundant and fun. I end up picking more apples then I need, but it is fun to make apple treatS and freeze them or give them away. read more

This orchard is awesome! Their apples can't be beat. They offer U-Pick and Ready Pick. The main varieties that were available when we were there in October were Macintosh, Empire, and Cortland. I did not care for their cider mill donuts (they tasted like burnt oil to me) but my husband loved them. read more

My favorite orchard, not only because it is the closest to my house, but because they are so friendly and helpful. I recently took a friend that could not walk very far to pick apples. they were so nice telling me where we could drive to with nice fairly flat ground. we got some blueberries and apples then checked out the pony and horses. My friend also bought a HUGE mum for only $7. Also their donuts are incredibly delicious especially with their apple cider. Don't forget the hay ride, such beautiful views from the ride and a nice tour of the orchard. read more
