Husband and I decided to get away for the weekend and I booked this trips months in advanced. We have had the best time! The staff is friendly and the rooms are luxurious. It's located right in the heart of town, walking distance to everything you could want! We've had a lot of fun just waking around town, checking out the shops. It's beautiful with all the Christmas decorations. We enjoyed the breakfast in the morning and had tea and cookies during board game time. That was an awesome touch and I loved it! Quite a few people came and participated it seemed. I definitely can't wait to come back. We would love to come in the summer and get some hiking in, but it's also lovely in the winter. We had a nice experience here. We booked the "haunted" room. The room is in what used to be the help's quarters. I love that they kept these rooms up. They are up a little stairwell, it is very cute. The room was very unique. We really liked how the original architecture has been kept up so well. What a lovely hotel and wedding venue. We stayed here for a long weekend in October for a friend's wedding. It was a beautiful venue for a wedding and a lovely place just to stay. We had a king size luxury suite. It had a king size 4 poster bed with a gas fireplace and a large Jacuzzi tub built for 2. The room was immaculate which is something that I look for. I could not find fault with anything except that it was a little warm at night but that could just be me. We were in a back building and it was just beautiful with plenty of parking. We were on the 1st floor and we looked out at the parking lot and the street so there was no interesting view but we spent so much time out of the room sightseeing and doing wedding activities that it didn't matter. The wedding venue itself in the main building was just perfect. My friend had been creating decorations and table settings and special touches for her wedding for months and months and it was the most beautiful wedding I have ever attended. We went to the main building for breakfast the morning of the wedding. They have a continental breakfast which is actually a breakfast buffet with everything except hot items which you can add for an additional fee. It was very good and beautifully presented. The service at the inn was excellent both at breakfast and at the wedding. If you are looking for a venue for a special event in a very special beautiful town then you probably want to check this out. You won't be disappointed read more

Would like to give this a better review because it is a cheming place in a great location but a place cannot be nice and not nice at the same time: pick one, Green Mountain Inn. First, the good. The classic styling inside and out includes properly-crafted trim, cabinets, molding, wainscoating and chair rails, masonry and stonework. The outdoor pool, jacuzzi, hot tub and fire pit area are great. The health club area that includes a gym, men's and women's locker rooms and an indoor jacuzzi and sauna are really nice. The common areas have nice furnishings. The layout is comfortable, or cozy, in keeping with its early New England theme. It is nice and convenient to have two on-site restaurants, one The WIP, which is very good and the other, who's name I don't know, which is average, although the service is friendly. The rooms are well-apponted and have coffee makers, refrigerators, televisions, safes, upholstered lounge chairs Terry cloth robes and extra pillows and blankets in the closets. Now the bad. My sheets should have been replaced some time ago. They were somewhat thin and pilled. I asked the cleaning staff to change my bed after day 2 and the next set was an improvement. The shower in the gym locker room never got warm and there were no towels available, half the time I used the elevator it smelled like a blown-out vacuum bag. Our first day the shower drain drained slow. There is no soap or lotion provided. Things kept tumbling out of the door of the fridge because it had a poorly-conceived retainer rod. The key card mechanism on the doors usually took a few or more swipes to go green. The little store is nice but was improperly stocked with beer. Also it provided no red bull - why not? The game room is nice to have but it have such an intolerable vacuum bag smell I couldn't stay in it for more than a few seconds; also no pinball or Mrs pac man. Had a wonderful stay here last week! We don't often go on vacation and I booked this as a Christmas gift for my husband and myself. Got one of the fancy suites with a fireplace and a jacuzzi and wasn't disappointed! However, I failed to get us a reservation for The Whip our first night and we couldn't get in because they were packed, even though it was a Monday. We decided to get takeout from The Whip and as we were finishing our order a man named Simon rushed in behind us to pick up his order. He started chatting with us and I must have looked bereft as I told him I'd booked this vacation but couldn't get into the restaurant, etc. He told us to hold on and stay there, and he ran away. (!) He came back and said he was the owner of the inn and tried to get us a table but couldn't. (!!) Then he told us to wait again, ran away again, and came back with the amazing news that he'd gotten us a table. (!!!) WONDERFUL! It was one of the best dining experiences we've had in a long time, and I will forever be grateful to him. WOW. We saw him the next day and thanked him again, and he said he just didn't want our first night at the inn to be us eating takeout in our room. Another thing - They're taking Covid seriously and requiring proof of vaccination. That is greatly appreciated. The only thing I would change is making it a bit more clear that there's basically a campus of buildings that make up the inn. I had no idea even after scouring the website prior to our trip that our room would be in another building. The friendly and helpful desk worker Tommy tried to explain this to us and tried to give clear instructions while showing us the map, but after a long drive it was a bit beyond us. It was also dark by then, so things were a bit confusing. This review is already too long, but I also want to say how lovely the suite was. There's a front vestibule for you to take off your boots and a generous closet to hang up your clothes. Also: BATH ROBES! The decor of room itself was beautiful, and there were old issues of National Geographic and encyclopedias in library boxes. We are nerds who enjoyed the old NatGeos! It's also fun to be able to log into your own streaming services to watch on TV. It might sound strange, but I was glad there was no daily room service. Afternoon tea with board games in the breakfast room is a nice touch! We sat by the fireplace and played games, which is something we'd never do. Highly recommended! I had the recent privilege of staying at the Green Mountain Inn over Labor Day weekend for a wedding and reception. Having grown up in Vermont and now living in Texas, this was my first experience to see the Inn from a visitor's perspective. The Inn and its facilities are expansive and much more than you may first expect seeing it from Main Street. There is a mixture of older, quaint rooms in the main building combined with newer two-story condo units in the annex buildings at the rear. It has a heated pool, small workout facility, gift shops, bar and restaurant that make a nice package stay. Pros: 1) The two large suites would be excellent rentals for younger groups on a ski/golf/recreation weekend. The one we stayed in had two king beds and ample space to throw down a sleeping bag on the floor. Large screen TV, fully equipped kitchen, away from other guests, ground floor entry, but only one bathroom. 2) Great facility for lodging and basing large groups. 3) Dinner portions for the reception were some of the largest I have seen - perhaps that is true for regular service meals... 4) The staff leaves you alone for the most part. Cons: 1) Appointments of craftsmanship and decor in the newer facilities will leave the authentic Vermont/New England traveler disappointed. Details do not seem to be a priority for this operation. 2) Event planning and wedding coordination staff will frustrate you if you are putting the show on - don't expect a lot of help. read more

We stayed in the luxury jacuzzi suite which was amazing. I personally requested the corner/end suite so I wouldn't be in-between rooms. The walls seem sound proof (either that or couples & families were extremely quiet). We had the do not disturb door hanger at all times and it was good, nice and quite. The place was clean, tidy and well decorated. The bed was comfortable, jacuzzi was clean. We liked the huge flat screen TV and the electric fireplace. The bathroom was also nice and clean and I liked the style in decor. I also must point out, I do like the spot in the bathroom where there was place to sit and put on makeup with a mirror that lighted up. Fantastic place to stay, Bed and Breakfast feel with all the amenities and privacy The next time we are in Stowe we are staying here, The Green Mountain Inn was fantastic. Found it on Expedia. The room was cozy, bed comfortable, large flat screen TV, A/C, large bathroom that included high-end shampoos, soaps and conditioners. Nice, large bath towels. And then the outdoor pool! Wow, it was large with a large hot tub in a beautiful setting. Thank goodness the weather held out so we could use the pool and hot tub both days we were in Stowe. The breakfast restaurant was nice and tasty too just be careful on how you order as one day we seemed to have a few hiccups. We ordered 2 eggs but it came out as 1 egg and when I wanted more coffee I was charged twice for the refill. Of course after asking the waitress she took care of it but it would have been nice if she noticed this first. Staff was fantastic throughout the hotel, easy parking, close to laundry facilities and right in town so walking distance to many fantastic restaurants and ice cream. read more

The staff is nice but apparently they are understaffed since our room was not ready at check in time. We had breakfast here and it was good and there were a number of different options. Rented the Goat room. Pros (if you care about these things) Humongous apartment. Full kitchen, two bathrooms, full living room and dining room. You could fit another room into the wasted space. Couple of minor things: I wasn't able to get into the restaurant the night I arrived. You'd think a hotel guest would be able to. Also, they have biscuits and gravy on the menu and on their website but they don't have it anymore. Since I came to the restaurant specifically for B&G, it was pretty embarrassing to have to get up and leave when I was told they didn't have them anymore and that haven't for quite some time. The furnace makes a horribly loud clicking sound when it's on and the thermostat does not really work so it's always either too hot or too cold. Biggest killer: I left my Roku there and had to call them 3 or 4 times to get them to go to the room and actually look for it instead of simply trusting that the maid would have seen it if it were there. Spoiler... the maid found it after I made them go look. I get that it's my fault I left it there, but not calling me back and making me practically stalk them when I paid $400 night is just not acceptable. read more

Very nice. I live in Williston and stayed often at Stowe Mtn Resort for business and thought my wife and I would spend an extra night at the GMI. I never realized it went back so far, lots of new buildings "out back" with great rooms. We were upgraded to a two bedroom suit (didn't really need that as we don't mind sharing a bed! but the thought was nice). Spent time walking downtown Stowe and the bikepath, sitting in the wing chairs by the fireplace in the room reading, and in the jetted tub. Great staff, extremely friendly. We spent two nights at the Green Mountain Inn as part of our nine day tour of New England. We had a regular room with a queen sized bed. Room was clean and comfortable. I especially liked the cozy robes. My main complaint is that our room was not ready at check-in time. I had requested an early check-in and I know that is only based on availability. Check-in time is 4 pm. I called at 2 to see if the room was ready and was told it was not. I called again at 3 and was told it still wasn't ready. I told the person at the desk I would plan on being there at 4. When I arrived at 4, not only was I told that our room wasn't ready, but there were three other people were also told the same thing. Clearly they were understaffed. We came back at 5 and were told it was almost ready. At 5:20 we were given our room keys. I asked for a credit because of the inconvenience, and I was given a $50 credit. I understand understaffing. I think I just would have appreciated being told at 2 pm when I originally called that there were issues with having the rooms ready on time. read more

I had a wonderful fall getaway in October at the Green Mountain Inn. We were lucky to get a spot there on short notice the Monday night of Columbus Day weekend, and we were treated to peak fall foliage season! The check in process was easy, and our room was situated on their highest floor (either 2 or 3...I forget!). The room itself was spacious, quaint, and everything we could possibly hope for in our first Vermont inn experience. We had two queen beds and ample space to spread out. The Green Mountain Inn is located right in the heart of Stowe, so the main general stores are right at your feet! It was easy to grab a coffee, peruse the stores, and jump on the Stowe Recreation Path to enjoy the fall scenery. Parking was a breeze too and was included for guests of the hotel. I can't imagine a better and more central place to stay in Stowe for the fall! We'll be back! read more

One of our favorite hotels for a romantic weekend getaway to unwind. The rooms are comfortable and well appointed. Staff is very helpful. The atmosphere is classy and comfortable, combining recent updates with a classic feel. They have a well-heated outdoor pool and jacuzzi open year round (though the hours are limited in winter) as well as an indoor jacuzzi, dry sauna, gym, and massage. They have tea and cookies every day from 4 to 5 PM. The in-house restaurant and bar is very good. The Inn is located in the center of Stowe village. We are not skiers, but loved our time in Stowe due in large part to the hotel. This is our second visit and we will be back! read more

What an incredible place !!! Check in was easy parking plentiful. You are greeted at the front desk like you were family. The rooms are country style very very comfortable so I'm head poster beds some have use of the pool which by the way is heated outdoors year-round. And they have a wonderful hot tub and the other pool is a fire pit that is going most weekends extremely comfortable in. As soon as you get to your room you'll feel at home super clean super comfortable just a great place all around. For a wonderful romantic weekend or a vacation it's just a great place all around five stars plus. Breakfast is served in an older dining room very well decorated and the food was just fantastic a lot of homemade things lots of fruits lots of breads and pastries I have stayed in Las Vegas Florida Los Angeles all of the New England states mini with resorts.,Canada ,Dominican republic and Mexico this is by far one of the top three places I've ever stayed. I don't usually write reviews on hotels, but this was the exception. Staff were genuinely friendly and enjoyed sharing the history of the hotel. The pool area with outdoor hottub is resort quality. I really enjoyed the soft symphony music piped into the lower hallway. The decor transports you back in time. It was like staying in a living museum with modern amenities. The free breakfast/buffet is filled with homemade goodies. It was a perfect location to everything just steps away. There are plenty of excellent restaurants that are a 1-3 minute walk away. I've been going to the Green Mountain Inn for many, many years. I just feel like this place is somewhere from the past with modern amenities. It's extremely quaint, homelike, beautiful, and just a picturesque gem in the heart of Stowe Village. Every year my heart beckons to go back there. I actually have been there during all the seasons, and no matter when I go, my heart is captivated by the charm of this Inn and Stowe. I have never stayed in the main Inn, only the luxury rooms, the luxury suites and the very spacious and beautiful apartments. The rooms and the decor are beautiful. I just absolutely love the big comfortable beds with amazing sheets and comforters. In the winter, I appreciate staying in and just enjoying the fireplace and the jacuzzi. The rooms are an extremely great value. I've gone to other inns to compare and nothing compares to the elegance and value of the GMI. I also love the Whip Bar and Grill, the food is constantly great. I love Sunday brunch on the patio. Whenever I stayed there, I would normally go to Norma's at Top Notch Resort and Spa for a change of scenery, but Norma's is gone. I'll just have to dine at the Whip more now!! I also have to mention how much I enjoy the afternoon tea tradition at the GMI, which is included in the nightly rate. Sitting in the beautiful living room and enjoying a cup of hot tea and cookies is a plus, especially when it's snowing outside. For me, the serene feel of Stowe and the warm, convivial ambiance of the Inn, just soothes my soul. The staff is very professional and courteous. I especially appreciate the humor and professionalism of the manager, Paul. Thanks, Paul! They have recently renovated the restaurant and the Inn itself, and it looks fantastic. You always get a good experience here. I've been going for years. While it could use an update if you really wanted to jazz it up, that's not necessary. Stowe is such a great town, and a great ski resort, that a hotel that provides what you want at a good price with good service is just right. What I want is: clean and comfortable bed and bathroom, heated pool and spa outdoors, and a decent bar and restaurant. Plus the central location can't be beat. One year I stayed in one of their apartment suites. It was a good experience and good value. Keep up the good work, Green Mountain Inn. We were originally at another facility and disappointed. We came for the Thanksgiving dinner and decided to stay! The rooms are so quaint. I love the rustic feel of it all. The food is fantastic! What seals the deal is the SERVICE. We were welcomed (checked in) with Christopher. Every person we have spoken to is helpful and smiling. While we haven't seen all the rooms, we have seen that they have some suites and will stay there next time. The only negative point is that the Inn is at the junction of a busy intersection. So there is a lot of traffic noise. I am sure that they have quieter rooms if I had asked but frankly, I don't mind. This is our first time staying at The Green Mountain Inn, and we loved it the minute we got there. It was obvious my husband took great care to find a special place for the two of US. We were warmly welcomed by Marisa and Sean at the front desk, who took time to answer all our questions about best places to eat, drink and ski. We came in the midst of the Coronavirus crisis, and it was comforting to realize how the staff discreetly kept everything sanitized and safe without a big production. In addition, the breakfast staff was very nice. There was great coffee or tea on the house, in addition to a a varied, delicious breakfast cooked on demand. The room accommodations were prefect. Our room was beautifully cozy, clean and comfortable. The Whip and its staff made our stay feel like a far get away, but at a reasonable price. Many of the people we met there agreed! Cleanliness this hotel gets four stars. There was a almond Hershey kiss wrapper(the little paper piece) that was left on the bed. The room was HOT at night. We turned the heat completely off during the day and kept it off for our stay. We also had the AC running at night didn't seem to ever get below 76 degrees. No one slept well at night because of this. We should have brought it up at the time, but we just sucked it up. The water pressure was so poor. It was literally like some one was just spitting drops of water on you. I really hope that's something they can improve. Staff gets five stars everyone was very friendly and accommodating. There is NO breakfast due to COVID. When I booked, it said there was breakfast at some point that must have changed though since it was no longer an option which was really inconvenient since their restaurant is also closed for breakfast and there is not much open for dining in general in Stowe bc of COVID. We had two breakfast options on Sunday morning bc Black Cap was closed for cleaning. The pool area is VERY nice and it's cool that you can swim even in the winter outdoors. Cute small hotel in the center of Stowe. In town for my brothers wedding. Wedding took place in a small room for events adorned with a cake cutting table and champagne flutes, fireside. Cozy room, decorated with bookshelves of antiques and books. The hotel room was decent. The beds are very high up, so you may need a bit of a boost to hop ontop. Our room overlooked a heated pool and jacuzzi (and though I did not bring my bikini to Vermont in January lol), others did and seemed to be having a great time in the water (I did not get to watch them as they froze stiff on their way out). The only real complaint is that the ceilings are very thin, so people above us were causing a ruckus, jumping up and down on their bed, or bowling. Either way it was very loud! read more

We stayed at the Inn in early December 2010. We booked a room through a special on the Stowe Business Association site, for one of the luxury suites in the new annex at the back of the parking lot. Tremendous value for the money (it was a little less than $200 per night). The room was quite large, with a (gas) fireplace, large jacuzzi, a smartly designed bathroom that was impecaably clean, and an amazingly comfortable bed. Plenty of room for ski gear to hang up and dry off. Ample parking right at the door. This was our first trip to Stowe (and our first ski trip to "big boy mountains). Needless to say, after some runs on Perry Merril and other slopes, way longer than us mid-Atlantic intermediates were used to, retiring back to this cozy haven was everything we could have hoped for. The main house of the Inn itself was quintessential Vermont--decorated smartly, perfectly pitched customer service (it isn't the Ritz, they can't do everything, but when they couldn't, they were very nice about it), and everything was incredibly clean and well-maintained. I'll write a separate review for the Whip restaurant. If you stay, and don't desire a sit-down breakfast, I highly recommend the little coffee/pastry shop that is in the front of the building next to the Inn--great pastries, egg sandwiches, and great coffee to take back to the room. I can't say enough great things about this place. 2011 UPDATE: We're back a year later and it's every bit as wonderful as in 2010. If only there was more snow this year! read more

I spent my honeymoon here and wouldn't have wanted to go anywhere else. The room was perfect: clean, beautiful and without a single "personality flaw". The bed was insanely comfortable. We meant to ask what the mattress was before leaving. All staff were warm and helpful, and I recall a couple instances of "above and beyond" that I'm so grateful for. Paul the concierge was absolutely lovely. The Whip Bar and Grill was very good, the location couldn't be better for downtown strolling and shopping. I hope to be back for our first anniversary. Green Mountain Inn is a great place to stay while in Stowe, Vermont. I had a great time here. We went during President's Day weekend. We stayed in the Mansfield House (we had a room with a fireplace and jacuzzi) and it was so romantic. The staff are pleasant and helpful. The only thing I wasn't a fan of was there restaurant, The Whip. The food was....umm...not good. If you plan on staying here, I suggest eating at Harrisons directly across the street. I haven't eaten anywhere else so I can't recommend any other place. I also suggest taking advantage of their breakfast plan. It's all you can eat. I'm looking forward to next winter. read more

We stayed here in November for a long weekend. It was kind of nice to be in Stowe off-season as we had the place to ourselves. Green Mountain is a beautiful hotel centered right in town. After a long drive from New York city, we were welcomed by staff and checked into our room ASAP. The room was AWESOME. We had a gigantic king-sized bed, gas fireplace and huge jacuzzi tub with partitions so you could either enjoy a soak in the bathroom, or open the doors so you can have a view of the fire, as well. One thing about going in November, it was still unseasonably warm, so while we were excited to enjoy the fireplace and tub, it also meant we could only do so for about 5 minutes before I started sweating and complaining of heat stroke. This also meant while the beautiful handmade quilt was lovely to look at, it was a little heavy for such warm nights. But on a snowy day after a ski? Forget about it. That's just what you want to come home to! We had drinks and dined at The Whip restaurant. Both were good and staff was excellent, but we also enjoyed being able to walk to restaurants or the diner in town, as well as try some of the other great establishments that Stowe offers. Overall, we had a great time at Green Mountain and would happily stay there again. read more

We rented their Pinnacle apartment for a recent girl's weekend in Stowe. Our stay was fantastic! We usually rent a house so we can cook dinner and stay up late talking, but VRBO didn't have options we liked, so this was a great compromise. The front desk staff was very friendly checking us in. We slept 5 of us comfortably in the apartment - two upstairs in the master bedroom, two downstairs in the twin beds and one on the fold-out couch. We loved the corner dining table with wraparound windows that looked out over the street. And the location was great to walk around Stowe. The hotel offered a lot of amenities we did not take advantage of, such as S'mores supplies for the fire pit. I would definitely stay here again if visiting Stowe! read more

What a lovely place. I've enjoyed a standard room with my wife and a rental apartment with our family, and the GMI does not disappoint. I'll keep it simple: If you want to have a good time in Stowe, pay the Green Mountain Inn's moderate prices and enjoy. The staff is small-town friendly, but amply capable. The rooms are spacious but not abyssal. The amenities are functional but not futuristic. Really, there's not much wrong here. In a few cases, we've had malfunctioning fireplaces. A quick call to the front desk results in the immediate dispersal of an attendant who takes care of everything and seems eager to address any other concern you might have. Perfectly located, the Green Mountain Inn is the only place to stay in Stowe. Sure, there are some other options for lodging, but there is no reason to even consider those places. What a perfect place for a romantic getaway! True, it is a bit pricey, but my guy and I were celebrating our anniversary, so we decided to splurge by staying here. From the moment we arrived at the front desk, I knew we were going to have a good experience; the concierge was so genuinely friendly and gregarious, I felt as if we were old friends within minutes. There were Stowe mugs for sale at the front desk; I asked the concierge how much the mugs were, and he winkingly said, "We'll talk about that on Sunday when you check out." I figured there would be some sort of discount on mugs after staying at the place . . . Sometimes, when you stay at an expensive place, it's just . . . expensive. At the Green Mountain Inn, it is true that you pay top dollar, but you definitely get what you pay for; the amenities are absolutely prime. Our room had a fireplace, a king-sized canopy bed, a whirlpool in the bathroom, and more space than we knew what to do with! As guests, we had access to an impressive workout facility, in addition to the swimming pool and jacuzzi. The place is an honest-to-goodness resort, not just a jacked-up hotel. My guy and I resolved to come back for a longer period of time than a three-day weekend, so that we could take fuller advantage of all the amenities there. I should also mention the excellent bar at the Whip, the restaurant on the premises. We didn't get any food there, but the drink selection was impressive, and the bartender was terrific! They must have a pretty tight policy on customer service; every experience we had with staff members was positive. Anyway, getting back to that mug . . . on Sunday, as we were checking out, I once again inquired about the mug . . . and the concierge told me it was free! I was definitely not expecting that; it was the proverbial icing on the cake after a fantastic weekend. If you've got the money to spend, the Green Mountain Inn is worth every penny of it! read more

We're staying in one of the suites in the back of the resort, facing the woods. It's a very quiet spot, while still being right in the middle of the village. Our room is bigger than the photos on the Internet made it look. The service is cheerful and friendly without being cloying. They've given us great recommendations for live music, hiking and restaurants. Yesterday afternoon, we soaked in the hot tub, went to the hotel's free wine and cheese hour (goes on during their high season only) then a dip in the heated outdoor pool. Very Nice place for the price. Definitely recommend. Good value. Room was very clean and comfortable with a definite New England Feel. Nice Flat Screen TV as well. Staff and Maid service are on top of things and attentive. There is also new gym with a sauna and heated pool. Stowe is a nice area to vacation for a few days. Go get some Apple Cider Donuts at Shallow Hall Cider Mill if you get a chance. read more
