This is my travel partner... we enjoyed our breakfast cooked by our personal chef.

I can say enough about how trilled I was with my stay at the Brass Lantern Inn. The host was so pleasant and always accommodating. The breakfast was delicious and the jacuzzi was perfect ending to a long day. There was a fire pit outside with a beautiful seating area overlooking the hillside of Vermont. We slept like babies. This trip was just what the doctor ordered. I will be returning again next year! We missed the peak season of foliage but captured the heaven in Stowe verm

    View from our room. Amazing.

Amazing! We were well taken care of. All out needs were met; from the cozy rooms with bathrobes, nice soaps & towels, chocolates, fresh water to the nice common area with games & cookies to the hot tub with amazing view of the grassy field and mountains. OH and the breakfast!!!! The best quiche (and breakfast) I might have ever had. Totally recommend this place in Stowe and would love to come back!

George and Mary Ann are the ultimate hosts. Their Inn has a premier location looking out to the mountainscape. A picture window in the breakfast room brings daylight and the view straight to your table, along with a delicious hot breakfast. I really appreciated the flexibility for our late arrival and early departures to ski. The fireplace in the bedroom was also cozy for an extra cold weekend. I highly recommend the Brass Lantern!

I stayed at the Brass Lantern Inn during the midst of Hurricane (Tropical Storm) Irene! Due to the storm, I arrived late after spending the day in the cold, wet rain moving my son into his college dorm. The owners, Mary Anne and George kept tabs on me to make sure I was safe. Due to the storm, I was sans hubby, who was home tending our storm damaged house. When I arrived, Mary Anne had saved me a small plate of goodies and made me hot tea! They helped me take my bag up to my room and made sure I was all let for the evening. Once settled, I was grateful for the wireless Internet connection that allowed me to keep tabs on the storm damage in Rhode Island! While the wind howled outside, the Inn remained warm and cozy! Our room (Spruce Peak) was perfect and I thoroughly enjoyed my soak in the whirlpool tub after spending a day in the cold, blowing rain! The next morning, I had a hot and delicious breakfast in the bright and sunny dining room, caught up on the news in the sitting room and just relaxed. After a nice visit with Mary Anne and George, I was able to travel home well fed and relaxed! I will certainly return for another visit, this time with my hubby to enjoy a romantic night at the Inn!

From the moment we walked through the door, Kristie and Todd made us feel less like guests and more like family. Their genuine kindness set the tone for an unforgettable stay. Every detail has been thoughtfully considered, from the beautifully appointed rooms to the fresh-baked cookies, coffee, and tea always waiting when we returned. With only nine guest rooms, this boutique inn offers an intimate, peaceful retreat that is both luxurious and welcoming. Stowe itself is charming, and staying at Stone Hill Inn places you right in the heart of it, surrounded by cozy elegance, relaxation, and a warmth that's increasingly rare--like stepping into a Hallmark movie town brought to life. We left refreshed, cared for, and already talking about our next visit. If you're looking for a luxury inn where exceptional hospitality is as memorable as the beautiful surroundings, Stone Hill Inn is it. We truly cannot wait to return

Very Disappointing Experience - Would Not Return…read more Our first night at the Stone Hill Inn in Stowe was fine. The room was clean, well-appointed, and we had no issues initially. However, the experience declined quickly. Breakfast was mediocre at best. The omelet was bland, and the oatmeal felt like an afterthought -- disappointing given that breakfast is part of what you're paying for at an inn like this. The second night was where things truly went wrong. There was no hot water. We specifically booked this inn for the jacuzzi tub after a long hike, which was the main reason for choosing this property. Instead, we had to check hourly to see if hot water returned, never did, and ultimately went to bed dirty from hiking with no ability to shower. The following morning, the situation escalated unnecessarily. The innkeeper confronted me and aggressively asked me to step into the kitchen, accusing us of breaking a toilet and shattering porcelain on the ground. I was shocked and told him I had no idea what he was referring to because we did not damage anything. I asked for a moment to understand what he was talking about and was told, angrily, that I had "one minute." I declined breakfast that morning -- which was unfortunate since that's one of the supposed highlights of staying here -- and asked if he would like to inspect the room before we left. He refused. I even offered for him to look at the bathroom to see how it would have been impossible for us to damage the toilet, and again he declined. Importantly, we had tipped the innkeeper who cleaned the room, who reportedly found the alleged damage and cleaned it up -- yet noted nothing to us and showed no concern at the time. The belligerent and accusatory behavior of the innkeeper completely overshadowed any positives from the stay. This is not how paying guests -- especially those booking for a romantic getaway, honeymoon, or special occasion -- should ever be treated. We will never return, and I strongly caution anyone considering this inn, particularly if you are looking for a peaceful, romantic experience.

I was a bit disappointed the first morning when I saw a continental breakfast laid out. It looked good though with fantastic granola, fruit, smoothies, and juice. But when I sat down, a full, made-to-order breakfast was also offered. The only mistake I made was in not taking a picture of the huge waffle covered with sliced strawberries and whipped cream. I think the morning manager Allie was responsible for the menu. But this isn't all. We chatted with the other managers and got suggestions about where to eat dinner and what to do. And there was more to do right at the inn. A bar is open every night if there are customers. A fellow living in the neighborhood stopped at the bar one night, and we got even more information from him. There's plenty of parking. Dozens of restaurants and shops are within a block or two, so if you are too tired to drive somewhere, such as Stowe, there are a number of good choices for dinner with a short walk. The room and the parlor/lobby make you feel it's the 19th century. A jigsaw puzzle was on the coffee table and being slowly put together by guests. Kids were playing with the many toys and games there too. And all the other guests seemed to appreciate the Old Stagecoach Inn as much as we did, giving it a community feel. The only cautions are there is no elevator in part of the inn and there was no TV in our large room. However, since we felt we were in a 19th century, Victorian house, a TV would have been out of place. They said they may add a TV, but like us, they were worried that it would look odd with all the antiques. And yes the main building dates to 1820 and a stagecoach inn, but it was later turned into a mansion and even late extra rooms were added. When we toured the Shelburne Museum, a docent at the Vermont inn building said he had helped convert the house to an inn years ago and remembered the beautiful woodwork in some of the rooms.

Flights were canceled or delayed, and even the airline sent automatic refund offers for safety reasons. Every other small business involved in our trip, four hotels, Airbnbs, our Turo car rental, and the airlines, provided full refunds or credits. The Old Stagecoach Inn was the only one that refused to offer any flexibility, citing that severe weather is a "foreseeable" risk and that I should have purchased trip insurance. I understand small businesses rely on reservations, but the response from management felt unnecessarilyj rigid and dismissive, especially compared to the empathy shown by other small, family owned Vermont inns. Given how the situation was handled, I would not stay here or recommend it to others. P.S. We don't think extreme weather is "foreseeable" since we had been checking the weather up to a week prior.
