Sticks were not picked up, drain pipes were not put back in place, and nobody came to the door when the crew was done to ask if we were satisfied. The bag of sticks I had to pickup is shown in the photo (not easy on my 77 year-old back that has had 2 surgeries).

For the most part, they are courteous to work with. Not-so-positives: After 3 years there are still a noticeable amount of broadleaf weeds in the backyard. They broke a solar light (which was part of a set that I can no longer get replacements for) and attempted to just stick it back in the ground without telling me. To their credit, they did compensate me, as mentioned earlier. They oversprayed into a flower bed and killed about $30 worth of annuals. I didn't report it because I was fed up by this time. I gave written instructions on where to spray at the beginning of the season, and they only followed them if I was home to remind them. Unfortunately, for me, the cons outweigh the pros as this point and I'm willing to pay more to switch to a service that can hopefully do a better job at being careful and following instructions. Spring Green is not a horrible company, but not great either, IMHO. If you don't have extras in your yard to worry about like lights, ornaments, or flower beds, they may work out well for you. In my experience, "you get what you pay for" applied here.

Take the opportunity to grab 'em while you can. When Aspen gets busy, they get VERY busy, and Eric -- I conjecture -- don't quote me -- would need to turn away clients or ask them to go on a waiting list for the following year. Mr. Eric, Ms. Lindsey, and the rest of their brilliant crew have been working on a multi-year project for me putting in hardscape, including grading and, ultimately, changing (soft-scaping) our two acres from lawn to native plants+wildlife flower garden. Eric and crew are experts on native plants. The more I read about "lawns," the more I cringe every time I pass one on the road. Lawns, being non-native plants, they are animal-torturers -- ironically, lawns passively mow down animals. Think of lawns as efficient animal-disposal machines. Do the planet (and your neighborhood) a favor and make your land friendly to critters by insisting on native plants. Native plants and animals evolved together over millions of years, so when one's land doesn't have native plants, wildlife starves, all the way up and down the food-chain. Lawns are gasoline- and water-guzzlers. The lawn industry uses up a humongous amount of petroleum products merely in lawn-mowing. I am a "Gone the Lawn" person now. Lawns are appropriate ONLY under certain circumstances, like one is a croquet fanatic. I never knew that gardening was year-round. April is the month everyone waits for, but planning starts the previous autumn. Eric's physically-demanding season winds down in mid-November, so let him see your plot before the snows hide the land. Autumn is the best time to start brainstorming the design phase for the following April. Eric and crew are not only landscapers but artists.

My back yard is on the edge of a conservancy and always mostly in shade and the ground stays soft so when a previous service had used a standing mower it left deep ruts in the yard that had to be filled. I told David this and asked not to use the standing mower but his guys used the standing mower anyway. The front of the house really cannot be done with the standing mower. David will no longer be doing anything in my yard.
