We hired Green Renovation after meeting with several contractors. We liked David's professional and calm demeanor. He presented a good project outline and made appropriate changes we needed. Overall, the project of 3 bathroom remodels with a powder room creation and a remodeled kitchen was successfully and was completed in 4 months. We are satisfied with the final outcome as it tuned out beautifully. His design team was very good. There were some last minute changes I wish were caught earlier to change the overall design however they made smart accommodations to keep the style of the design room the same as originally planed to stay on time. The on-site team demonstrated exceptional kindness and attentiveness throughout the process. David, in particular, was outstanding and highly effective in managing this large-scale project. We are blessed to find GRG. We had water damage from our kitchen and we were lost, we never had something like this before and we didn't know from where to start. We have read online that we can talk to public adjuster and we did but we found out they charging us 25-30% and not even get everything done the right way. John, the project manager, listened us carefully and wanted to make sure he knows what are our needs. John explained us our options according to our budget. Overall, I liked the demeanor of our project manager (David) and felt confident he would take care of us. Was this project flawless? Of course not. No renovation is. We had many bumps in the road (some avoidable, some not) which lead to the project taking much longer than expected. Adequate. That is how I would describe the workers Green Renovation Group hired to do the remodel of our home. Reactive is how I would describe the employees of Green Renovation Group. They didn't have a plan for how things should be done to enable other jobs to progress but had crews make repeated corrections so that the next step could be started. Green Renovation is a scheduling house for the crews and we had to provide the information about the work to be done to the crews that arrived at our house. The Project manager (and owner of Green Renovation Group) does not hold his own contractor's license. The holder of their license also holds the licenses of several other companies. The project managers need to rely on their subcontractors to know building codes (as they don't) and the person who does know the codes well enough to pass the certification test, never saw the project. Highlights of issues: Master Bathroom: Wall vanity was not installed square and after adjustments still rubs the wall hard enough to remove paint. The slider door rubbed a groove in the wall above the door. *owner repaired Kitchen : New beam installed to replace a load-bearing wall was cut off and the old beam that extended out of the back of the house was left attached to only the roof. A new kitchen vent was installed to vent into the opening between beams of the ceiling and not to the outside. *Owner had to climb up on the roof to verify the wrong installation of the vent. This was corrected, but the ceiling is rippled and dented surrounding the new vent. Gap between the kitchen beam and the ceiling has cracks, ripples, and bumps. *Owner to repair as work crews are not trusted to not damage counters Flooring: Brand new (click vinyl) flooring has gaps in multiple rooms and big ones in the hallway. After 3 attempts to fix the hallway gaps, we were told this is as good as it gets. Squeaks, which we were told would be corrected were not. Baseboards/trim was left incomplete. The project managers did not check the quality of the work performed. The owners had to climb on the roof to see that one vent cap was missed and only then did Green renovation send someone to repair it. Adequate and disappointed sum up our interactions with Green Renovation Group. read more

I have reached out to about 6 other contractors for quotes on a remodeling project for my 2 bathrooms and kitchen. Out of all of them i was impressed by David from Green Renovation Group. Very knowledgeable, and helpful with giving ideas. To be as honest as can be, my mother (who will be helping me with this project) and i lean more towards picky customers because we have many ideas for my remodeling and want to make sure it gets done right as we have had bad experiences. this is my first time doing a big renovation and hiring general contractors so i am a bit nervous. I personally have had a very bad experience with Green Renovation Group. Inc. The scope of work I hired them for included removing wood panelling and painting the walls, putting can lights and fans in the ceiling, and removing the asbestos flooring from the second story, replacing with laminate. The job that they did was unprofessional, not up to code, the contractor was argumentative with me, and I felt very disrespected in my own home. They stole stuff from my house and it took hiring competent people to finish the job. They never took any responsibility for any of the things that they messed up during the project. They told me that they were going to apply a light texture after removing the paneling before panting. The texture that they applied was terrible! It is gloopy with drips and runs and very uneven. When I complained I was told "well it's on there now you are just going to have to live with it" and the project manager told us we were crazy. During removal of the paneling, they removed the trim and molding from doorways in the hall. There was no care taken during the removal of the molding. The molding was thrown into the pile of debris outside the front door where more debris was thrown on top. Replacing the molding was outside of their scope of work so they had to put on the old molding. When it was time to put the molding back on they made no attempt smooth out the tool marks made during removal or the paint that was left on the edges of molding, they just nailed it on and painted over the old paint. it is a very unprofessional looking job. Some black mold was found in the kitchen during an inspection. As a result they needed to replace the kitchen cabinets. There was a change order that specified that the cabinets would be changed like-for-like, and I requested a corner cabinet verbally. When the cabinets were installed and I was putting my things away, I noticed that I could only reach the bottom shelf. They replaced the upper cabinets with they type that don't go all the way to the ceiling but then put them all the way to the ceiling (because that's what I had before). When I asked the contractor about it, he lied to me saying it is the code that the cabinets have to be that high off the counter top. (The code is 18 inches from the counter top, not 22 inches.) The flooring I chose is tongue and groove vinyl there are many gaps and the ends on a number of boards are broken and sticking up causing a tripping hazard and allowing a space for water to enter and cause damage with spilled fluids or cleaning. To install the floor properly, the stair beams had to be jacked up to remove the old floor and put new flooring under. When they removed the jacks, the beams were a quarter of an inch above the floor. When I told the contractor that was unacceptable he kept arguing that there was nothing they could do about it because they can't bend the beams. After a week of arguing about the existence of gravity, they finally sent the floor people back to see what went wrong. It was discovered that the old nails holding the beam to the floor were not removed and had curled around and the beams were setting on those. It took my son to suggest that they remove the old nails so the beams would go down. But they couldn't fix it because the stair was in the way, so my son had to suggest to them to remove the lowest stair to access the area to remove the old nails and bolt the stair properly to secure them in case of an earthquake. As part of the rewiring, the nest thermostat that had been running the heater for about 2 years prior to their arrival was not wired properly. The display on the thermostat said the Rh wire was not wired properly, so the device was not getting power and needed to be charged on a daily basis in order to run the climate control. Green Renovation sent their people over 3 times to look at it, and their response was that the thermostat was too new to run such an old furnace, and there was nothing they could do about it. So I hired a furnace repair man, who installed my system about 5 years ago, who took 15 minutes to find the problem, replace the wire, and get everything up and running as it should be. Except, while he was inspecting the system, he discovered that during the asbestos abatement, Green Renovation replaced a portion of the furnace vent system in the attic, but never finished venting the furnace outside. THE FURNACE IS VENTING INTO THE ATTIC! The pipe is a foot short from achieving up-to-code ventilation, and when I asked them to come back and fix it, they deny that the vent was not installed properly, and that I must have climbed into the attic, and taken a section of pipe out for spite. I'm 75 and can barely get upstairs, much less sabotage the ventilation system. I just wanted them to fix it so that I don't die from carbon monoxide poisoning. Save yourself some trouble, hire someone competent the first time, don't work with Green Renovation. read more

I'm updating my review, as the painter situation was resolved and the new painters are professional and don't argue with my mother over her project. The 4 stars are because it took longer than i thought it should have to resolve and my mother was sanding her own walls to get the results she wanted and losing sleep at night over the stress for several weeks. The electrician they hired went above and beyond the call of duty to get the house re- wired. But ended up working in the bedroom, unexpectedly, and the expensive rug and bed were not covered up and are now full of plaster dust. Cleaners are coming today to resolve this, and general clean up before the floors get placed, and I'm curious to see how this works out... read more
